A/N: Hi everybody. This story contains elements from the Archie comics, the games, and a bit of stuff we came up to fill in proper gaps. This is also not the same cannon as any of the comics, games, or shows. So this was approached as one possibility out of an infinite number of them.
It was a moonless night with the rain pouring down hard in the city. Just yesterday, Eggman and his forces had started an offensive on the war, sparking a new global conflict. The local leader of his troops had taken over this quaint little town on the edge of the forest in no time and had made the mayor's office her current headquarter till she moved on. A faint figure was now observing it, memorizing the patrolling lynxes on the perimeter.
His name was Kuro, the Wolf. A mobian grey wolf with a white tip tail, hands, and feet. A set of stitched dark purple clothes over him, also being held in some places by armored plates and straps. The same colored purple facemask over his face that kept most of his hair and fur down. Even having his ears pressed against his skull as his eyes peek out beyond the open slit of the clothing. On his left wrist, is a set of two sharp blades angled back against his arm. A swing bolt attached to the armor plate on his wrist connected to the edges allowed him to move it around, and in front of him. He is a thief and hunter by trade by stealing what he can and selling off to the highest bidder or buyer of his goods. But that prize money, to him, went to his depression. He had taken to drinking and sleeping around with anyone who came onto him as a result of his home being destroyed. Kuro was starting to come out of it a bit as time went on, though. The drinks and girls helped out but covered up the hard sections of his mind to work on the problems that seem easier to handle, to him. Yet, the issues still lingered.
Now he was going to try and get back into the game and start by stealing from the Egg clan army right under their leadership's nose. Kuro did one final check to his mask before rising and beginning to run along the rooftop of the warehouse he was on till he jumped off the edge before seemingly disappearing from existence. One of the patrols stops for a second and looks up to where Kuro was at the top of the end of the building. As the patrol sees nothing, he continues as Kuro appears on his target building, a house that is larger than the rest around it. Kuro then looks up and spots the patrol walking towards him. Though, since a towering smokestack partially hid him, it gave Kuro the best opportunity to jump. He clenches one of his hands and disappears for a second before suddenly reappearing in front of the patrol. The bear's eyes become wide in shock at seeing a figure in front of him before being kicked in the head. Kuro comes out of the spin kick and huffs. He then riffles through the bear's clothing and takes some mobiums and pieces of jewelry. Kuro pockets what he finds and continues onward to his prize.
Thankfully, with how fast that happened and how dark it was, there was no way the guy would be able to give any relevant details about him. Kuro then makes it to the doorway on the roof and looks around, choosing his entry point with as much care as he could, seeing as he had less than eighteen minutes until the patrols would change shifts, and someone would come to relieve the bear of his. He could go the obvious route of the roof door but could make enough noise to alert the rest inside. Then there is the air vent, which is a classic, but he would instead save that for Eggman's buildings and forces. With these guys, it's the clunks and thumps of the vents that would give him away. And finally, there is the window. And he would only need to see, but he also needs to know where to go. Kuro weighs all the options and chooses to go for a window. He walks over to a darker edge of the moonlit building as the soft rays of the moon wash over the old stone. Kuro then grabs the ledge and jumps down to the small outcropping of the window sill.
Kuro grabs the edge of the window to steady himself and digs his claws on his other hand into the brickwork. He then peeks and leans over to look into the room. And it seems he got a lucky first try as the room is a small office, possibly for a temporary worker seeing how barren it is and only having some scattered papers on the small desk with a chair behind it close to the window and a file cabinet near the door on the other side. Kuro takes a deep breath and takes out his clawed hand from the wall and clenches it together with his eyes closing, not to experience the sense of vertigo. He then let's go suddenly and feels his form thrown forward, landing with a soft thud on the carpeted floor. Kuro smirks and looks behind him to the still closed window as the weak moon rays scatter as they hit the desk and papers. 'Time to get moving before they know I am here,' Kuro thinks, starting to look for anything valuable.
Kuro pilfers through the desk for anything, but it was empty except for one ink pen. It seems the worker may have been fired before the attack, or they didn't have one. So he goes up to the office door and presses his head against the wood. Kuro hears soft thumps that go by, so he carefully opens the door. He peeks out into the semi-dark hallway as it is lit by a few candles and two leading lights in the staircases of the ends of the building. The mobian cat kept walking, holding a short sword beside her. Kuro gives a little smile as he lets his eyes linger on her body, measuring each part of her and even hypnotically watches as that tail and ass of hers sways around. He then licks up some drool and steps out of the room, making sure to close the door behind him, and steps onto the carpeted hallway. 'Hum…should I take her down…' Kuro thinks before pulling out a dagger as he weighs his options, knowing he was losing time every moment.
Kuro starts to move toward the cat girl, keeping his feet on the carpet before getting a few feet close enough. The cat stops and slowly turns around, her tail and ears standing on end. Kuro rushes forward and stabs the blade against her side, his other hand over her mouth as he slowly pulls her away and towards the office he came from just a few seconds ago. "Sorry sexy. But can't have you causing trouble," he whispers into her twitching ear. Her body is slowly falling limp as her eyes fly around towards him, trying to give the heaviest glare she could in her paralyzed state. Her ninja-yoroi scrunches up as she is dragged into the office and placed on the ground, away from the view of the windows. Her view keeps trying to see Kuro, but he rolls her towards the wall while he goes through her pockets and pouches on her belt. Kuro takes the girl's sword and places it into the bag he has and then her tools and small weapons around her belt and pouches. He also finds some mobiums and a piece of jewelry around her neck. The girl twitches in anger as he takes it while he pockets them like all the rest. Kuro then grabs some cloth pads and presses them against the wound where he stabbed her. "Stay quiet, and I won't make things worse again," he warns while giving a pet to her ear and ties off the pad.
The girl angrily tires to look in his direction as he leaves, but the only filing cabinet in the room blocks her view. Kuro steps out and makes sure the door is locked before walking down the hallway. His goal is to find all the loot and valuables these guys took from the town. Kuro's eyes scan over the many doors that lined the hall and wonders where they could have stored it all. But as he measures the distance from the side stairs, he walks up to the middle door in the long hall and looks it over. Kuro leans down and looks through the keyhole and tries to see anything of note through it. 'Bingo,' Kuro thinks, spying a safe in there on the far side. Kuro starts to use his claw to pick the lock while keeping an ear out. 'I need to work on my stamina again if this is how much I can do before starting to get tired from my ability.'
Kuro then hears steps coming up one of the stairs and brings up one of his ears from under the mask. It then points towards the staircase and slowly hears the footsteps coming closer. Kuro grits his teeth and tries to pick up the pace on his lockpicking and twist his claw. A click sounds out, and he stops for a second. When the steps were a few feet away from the staircase door, he quickly shuffled inside the room and slowly closed the door behind him as someone stepped into the hall, hearing a clinking noise for some reason.
'Have less time than I thought. Got no choice but to leave evidence,' Kuro thinks before walking over to the safe and uses his claws to remove the digital panel as quietly as he could to get to the tumblers underneath. 'And there we go,' Kuro thinks, unlocking the safe and slowly and quietly moving the lever as he could. 'No chances. Got to grab as soon as I finish opening this and hope I grab something valuable enough to make this worth it,' Kuro thinks, knowing how loud safes can be when you open them. 'Ok. The room I was in is twenty feet to the north. One…two…three!' Kuro thinks before quickly unlocking and flinging the safe door open and reaches in, grabbing anything that looks high in value and small.
The door slowly creaks open, and Kuro looks sharply to the side at the wall. He then holds out and clenches his hand before letting go, the very familiar feeling of being tossed around returns to him while he hears someone gasps and then a metal clang where he was. Kuro grunts as he lands onto the carpet and rolls over on top of the catgirl he left behind. The girl became alert to his sudden presence and tried to thrash around, but could only get the tips of her fingers and ears to move around. "Sorry sexy. Got to run," he chuckles before rushing for the window and opens it up. The door to the office opens as he uses his power and blinks outsides onto the grass. Then he sidesteps in some shock as a kunai lands where his foot was. "Yikes…" Kuro mumbles and looks back to see someone at the window. Kuro smirks and gives a small saluting wave and runs off as more kunais and shurikens strike ahead and where he was. 'And gone,' Kuro thinks as he kept running before blinking out again in time to avoid the shuriken and kunai that hit where he had been a moment before.
"Man, that one was close," Kuro thinks, looking down at what he stole.
Kuro hums happily while dumping out his bag. "Okay, money, money, money…" he mumbles, moving the bills to the side in a pile. "Nice swords," Kuro notes, looking over the craftmanship. "Almost new, hardly any nicks." Kuro then moves onto what he grabbed from the safe and picks up a statue. "Huh. Never seen something like this before," he says to himself as he pokes the jade crystal in the shape of a tree. "Bet I can get something for this. Now time to move before they have a chance to find me," Kuro says, picking the haul up again before starting to run. 'Hopefully, I can get to the safe house without having to use blink again. I think I can do it one more time is all,' Kuro thinks to himself, basing it off on how he feels.
Kuro ties the bag around him and makes sure that nothing would break inside. He then starts to run off, making tracks as best he could while heading towards the nearby river. As he runs, he hears some shouting behind him and smirks. Now that he was found out, it seems there is hardly a point to hold back. Kuro rounds a tree, keeping to the path that appears obvious if looked from afar. At which point, as he approaches the running river, he smirks. Kuro looks back and sees shadows moving towards him, and he holds out his hand. He then looks across the river and steps a few feet into the mud. His hand opens, and he is thrust into a bush and pops his head out to see behind him. Kuro then gets up and runs off, this time staying to a heavily covered path instead of the obvious one.
After half an hour, one of the egg clan approached a female lynx with cybernetic eyes. "Master, we can not find any trace of the intruder," the shinobi reported to her.
To say Egg boss, Conquering Storm, was displeased at that moment would have been like pointing out they were standing in the middle of a forest. She growled at the sheer incompetence of her soldiers. How could they lose the thief…actually, how had he done what he did earlier…chaos control? Conquering Storm was going over the possibility in her head but soon dismissed it. If it had been, then her cybernetic eyes would have picked up chaos energy. She pondered this as she thought on it more thoroughly, forgetting the cowering shinobi in front of her.
"Ma…Master?" the shinobi asks carefully and shakily. The shinobi tries to step away carefully as she watches Storm thinks to herself. The other shinobi are looking and watching as their master stands perfectly still. Conquering Storm is a mobian brown lynx with black markings. Her tufted ears carry a black fur on the ends and are pushed down by her conical straw hat. Her black bangs are visible beneath her hat and hang over her face, and she wears purple eyeshadow. She also wears a purple gi-like outfit stylized after Dr. Eggman's uniform trimmed in white and belted at the waist. She also wears black fingerless gloves with thick red cuffs and black boots with metal reinforcements. Also, her eyes have been modified or replaced with cybernetics, her sclera being black, and her irises and pupils being red.
'He didn't move the ground…I should examine where I saw him land. See the state,' Storm thinks leaving, making the shinobi sigh in relief.
Storm keeps walking back towards the town before stopping. Her eyes land on the first strike she threw. And only one set of footprints that lead to the forest catches her attention. These prints seem like he was dropped and not scuffed in any way. The edges of the prints hardly show a version of walking to this spot, either. So either he jumped and landed here, or something tossed him to this particular spot.
"This was no amateur. He had an escape route already picked out," Storm observes, looking where he went before back to her temporary headquarters. She then wondered how did he get in and looked at the possibilities. The front door was out of the question. She had people working there on coordination and reviewing maps. The roof. Not possible as they had set up alarms and traps up there. If he had come that way, then he would have set something off, no matter how good he was. The same is with the vents which she didn't know why they are big enough for a mobian to fit through? Her eyes then drifted to the window she had jumped out of while chasing him before a thought made itself known. 'How did he get from the safe to that room, and pass me so fast without my notice?' Storm ponders.
Storm then went up to the second floor, where she saw two taking away the soldier that had been lying on the floor. Looking at her now, Storm could tell she couldn't move and had a stab wound on her side. 'Took her down quickly and quietly without killing.' Storm observes before heading to the safe. 'Took off the digital panel and went right for the mechanisms inside. I must have pressed him for time when I came up,' Storm summarizes and starts to head out before noticing the lock on the door lock was slightly scratched up. "Did he use his claws to do this?" she questioned as she looked it over. "No amateur here. He knew what he was doing…out of practice, though?" Storm wonders.
