Synopsis
Jian Bing, a well-known advertising director, and Sheng Yang, a newcomer in the industry, whose paths crossed inside a restaurant one day. Sheng Yang is starstruck seeing his teenage crush sitting at a table across from him. Jian Bing has just ended her 10 year marriage to her husband who was her mentor, lover but a serial cheater that she could no longer turn a blind eye to his antics. Sheng Yang on the other hand was waiting for a blind date orchestrated by his mother that wants him married and living on his own.
The clandestine meeting of the two eventually developed a bond and began embarking on a journey of sublime growth and budding romance. With Sheng Yang's constant ecouragement and proding , Jian Bing was able to gain her confidence back both in life and in love whereas Sheng Yang grew up from a young and carefree youth to one with a keen edge under the guidance and encouragement of Jian Bing. The two healed each other, filling the gaps that were missing in each other, and overtime learned to love one another.
However, challenges in life are inevitable. Faced with their differences both in their identities , experiences along with their age... being a 10 year age difference with her being the older woman. Objections towards their relationship within their families, friends, and rumors in the workplace escalating, Jian Bing and Sheng Yang finally decided to let their attraction and future play out through the course of time.
The 36 episodes were filled with flashbacks of their initial meeting as Sheng Yang tells Jian Bing of how impressed he was with her abilities when she filmed his father for a public service advertisement which made garbage collection a honorable profession and increased his respect for his father... while motivating him to study arts and design now being his chosen profession .
Though the series revolve around the two main leads the screenwriters did a masterful job with the script in that all the supporting cast were given time and lines that were integral in keeping the drama has a slow pace and falls in the category of slow burn romance with many sweet and hilarious moments along with the bitter doses of reality that pours a wet towel on the entire premise of a love that cannot be .
To understand the series the main characters needed to be defined with their individual character analysis.
Sheng Yang is a hardworking, sensible, talented, warm-hearted and has a great sense of humor . He is good at communication and doesn't give up easily whether to pursue his love or to build his career on his own. His physical traits of being tall , well built and extremely handsome would make him the prize of most women young or old. His character development from being a little immature due to life's inexperiences with his growth to adulthood due to life's hard knocks without losing his basic character traits turns him into the man he is.
Jian Bing is a brave woman who has courage to divorce her husband in her middle age after being married for 10 years. Her father was also a scumbag cheater like her husband and she witnessed her father's dirty deeds at the age of 12. She told her mother about that but not long after she never seen her mother happy again and witnessed her death. It gives her a trauma and she started to hate her father but hated and blamed herself more for telling all that to her mother and begun to think that all adults' relationship is like this, so it takes her many years to divorce her husband. She is also a warm-hearted person and knows how to deal with tough situations with calmness and intellect. She became a very professional director and started her own company with her husband and best friend, even after divorcing him she kept personal and professional life separate and continued their cooperation in company. She is a strong character though reluctant to let her heart sway her mind from accepting Sheng Yang's unwavering love and devotion to her.
Lou Mei Juan … Sheng Yang's mother doesn't want her son to become hurt by social stereo types of rich vs poor and takes a hard stand against his relationship with Jian Bing. Though she admires and appreciates Jian Bing as a woman of achievement she can't understand how a woman of her class can be satisfied with her son that is just starting out in life and love.
Sheng Xiang Quin … Sheng Yang's father is a character with a simplistic view of life yet with a strong will and a very imaginative approach that has kept his family fed and housed while loving them with the best of his abilities.
Xue Yi Ming and Liang Shan Shan … the x husband and best friend to Jian Bing were allowed to be who they were because of the divorce and correcting the wrong that was made 10 years prior.
Song Chen and Pan Rou …. Shang Yang's Moses Partners found love by seeing Shang Yang's unwavering commitment to Jian Bing
Episode 36 ends with Shang Yang and Jian Bing at the televised awards ceremony professing their love for one another with a very proud Lou Mei Juan and Shang Xiang Quin bosting of their son's choice in a girl friend to their neighbor whom was trying to set up another blind date for Shang Yang.
Though episode 36 ended on a happy note the story of Sheng Yang and Jian Bing needs more clarifications in how they learn to live and love now that the whole city knows that they are a couple.

The three couples Xue Yi Ming and Jiang Shan Shan along with Song Chen and Pan Rou join Shang Yang and Jian Bing for a celebratory dinner.
