A demon lord seeks her out, only to be aghast when she remembers nothing of him- not even the past that revolves around the pink jewel stone she wears around her neck.

Prologue
It was peaceful and quiet. The cool water that licked at her ankles was soothing to her, and she let out a content sigh. The shade from the trees surrounding the river kept her safe from the hot sun that rested high in the sky above her. She was able to relax like that for several moments before approaching footsteps stole her attention. A familiar and comforting aura caused her to perk up a bit, and she peeked over her shoulder as she waited for him to break through the foliage.
"So this is where you've been running off to, is it?" Asra came to a halt a few feet away from her and smiled at the raven-haired woman who continued to soak her feet. She sent him a beaming smile in response and nodded her head.
"Yeah! It's just so peaceful here," she said. "The flora and the river are such a soothing combination, Master." She looked away from him as she said those words, and she was able to miss the way a look of malcontent flashed through his eyes at the single title. She kicked her feet a bit and smiled at the splashing water. After a moment or two, she glanced back over her shoulder before she snatched her slippers up and moved them elsewhere. She patted the ground next to her and grinned. "Don't just stand there," she said, her lips curling into a pout, "come sit next to me~!"
"We'll have to head back soon, but, fine. We can stay here a bit longer if you want to," he said, a gentle smile appearing on his face as he approached where she sat. He settled down next to her. His palms pressed to the ground behind him, supporting his weight as a pleasant silence filled the area once again.
Asra peered at the quiet girl from the corner of his eye. She sat with her eyes closed and a warm smile plastered to her face. His heart felt heavy at seeing her, and he held back from seeking her hand with his own.
Seconds turned into minutes as they sat there, neither of them bothering to speak and risk interrupting the silence that had surrounded them. Despite his words earlier, they ended up staying there for a few hours. During that time, they had small breaks in the silence to exchange a few sentences before they fell silent again.
As the sky began to darken with the setting sun, Asra decided that it was time to leave so they could make it home before the rest of the daylight left them. He turned towards the woman with him, only to halt all movement at spotting her sleeping peacefully on the flush green underneath her. His expression softened at seeing her like that.
Her chest gently rose and fell with each breath she took. Her dark locks had fallen from the ribbon that tied them back. They were now splayed out underneath her, spreading out like spilled ink against the vibrant green.
He sat as still as he could, not wanting to have her stir from her dozing state. After a few minutes of watching her like that, Asra eventually got back on his feet. His movements were guided by carefulness as he reached to pluck her up from her bed of foliage. She was cradled against his chest as he held her bridal style. She showed no signs of stirring, and he found himself silently admiring the way she could sleep so deeply.
He shook that thought from his mind, and he started on his way back to the shop.
Once there, he carried her into the bedroom in the back and gently placed her on the bed. Her sleeping form took up one side, and he sat on the other. Asra stayed like that for a moment before letting out a muted sigh.
Something cold brushed against his elbow, and he glanced to the side in search of what it was. Faust slithered from her perch on Asra's pillow and coiled a portion of her body around his arm so she could perk her head up in front of his own.
'Okay?'
Asra smiled at the question, and he slowly nodded his head. "Yes, Faust, things are okay," he said.
Her head bobbed up and down as she turned her attention to the dozing girl. Her tongue flicked out, and the light blue snake uncoiled herself from his arm. Asra took that chance to stand up.
He changed from the clothing he wore before he went to fix the blankets over Kagome's sleeping form. Once she was covered, he returned to his side and settled down beside her.
Kagome inched closer to him in search of the warmth he provided, and he instinctively curled an arm around her so she could rest against his chest. Faust made herself comfortable on his other side, curling into a coil on his chest as she fell back asleep.
