'Follow me sidekicks, we shall cross the mighty river to find and defeat the villian' Katsuki said. Looking back over his shoulder. 'Keep up Zuku', He ordered.

Due to this slight distraction he failed to notice a patch of moss on the log under his foot. Before anyone could react Katsuki found himself sitting in the slowly flowing stream.

Izuku rushed down the bank and waded in to help him, 'Are you ok Kacchan?'.

'Go away Izuku I'm fine'.

'But Kacchan you could have really hurt yourself'.

'I said GO AWAY' Katsuki exploded, literally in this case as he used his newly awakened quirk in his largest blast ever. Izuku felt the blast and heat hit his face and felt a ringing in his ears before hearing a grinding and crack as the shadow of the log above them started to shift. Tsubasa who was standing on the log used his wings to lift himself to safety, however both Katsuki and Izuku were directly under the log.

Quicker then he could react Izuku found himself shoving Katsuki out of the way.

Katsuki picked himself up off the ground and looked around Tsubasa was fine but he couldn't see Izuku, rushing to the other side of the log he saw him.

Izuku felt an indescribable pain from his right arm, the weight of the log rested entirely on his bicep which was pinned by a large rock underneath. The once innocent babble of the water now turned deadly as the log dammed the stream. Izuku tried to contort his body to raise his head struggling for all the breathe he could manage.

'Kacchan please, help'

'Tsubasa go get help, Izuku save your breathe'

Izuku tried to calm himself as Katsuki used every ounce of strength in his 5 year old body to try to roll the log.

'I will be the number 1, I will defeat any enemy. I WILL CRUSH YOU' Katsuki screamed. He placed his palms on the lower portion of the log and with his quirk blasted the log away from Izuku.

Izuku rolled with from the explosion, landing on his back he was finally able to catch his breath and see the mangled remains of his arm. He promptly passed out from the shock and blood loss.

Izuku, groggy and bleary eyed, was crushed in a warm embrace before he could come to his wits. Instantly recognising the comfort of his mother's arms he began to weep as the last memories he had came back to him. A dull pain came from his shoulder and his hand was itchy. He reached to scratch it and stopped with a sudden realisation. It was gone, there was nothing left, just smooth skin from his chest up to his neck.

Gazing with sad eyes as Izuku continued to feel his bald shoulder, Inko fought back the fountain of tears she had been constantly shedding. 'I'm so sorry sweetie the Doctors did everything they could but they couldn't save your arm. They said they were lucky one of the nurses has a quirk that could patch your skin, you had lost too much blood and any wound left open would've been too much for you to survive'.

Izuku too shocked to say anything sat in silence for a time, he dipped his head as his hair covered his eyes.

'Mom, does this mean I can't be a hero?'

'Zuku you almost died, let's just get you all healed up first before we think about that. Your quirk still hasn't come in maybe it will help.'

There was a knock at the door. There stood a short, bald doctor with large round glasses and a bushy Moustache.

'Greetings, Mr Midoriya I am Dr Tsubasa. I was responsible for your treatment. I'm so sorry for your loss, but the damage was too great. I've heard good things about you from young Hiroshi. I'm sure with your work ethic you'll be able to adapt to your new situation quickly.'

Inko took the Doctor to the side to talk quietly, 'Did the results come back' she asked. 'They did, however I'm afraid it's more bad news. Izuku is quirkless, I dont won't to burden him with too much at once'. 'I understand Doctor, I'll tell him soon'.

Izuku sat silent as he came to grips with the loss of his arm. How could he be a hero with one arm? He didn't know of any hero with a disability. Izuku felt his own heart break as the hope he held to become a hero was slowly extinguished.

Into the room walked Mitsuki and Masaru dragging a reluctant Katsuki. Seeing Katsuki there Izuku lit up, 'Kacchan you saved me'. 'Whatever, I'm going to be the number 1, I have to save everyone'. Mitsuki quickly wiped away a tear as she beamed with pride.

Katsuki walked up to the side of the bed, his face pulled in a strange expression. 'Kacch..'

'Shut up, I'm only going to say this once and I'm never going to say it again.' Izuku watched as Katsuki seemed to build up his courage until, 'I'm sorry' Katsuki blurted. 'I made the log fall when you were just trying to help'

Izuku shocked by Katsuki couldn't reply. Katsuki turned away quickly, 'I mean it, I'm never going to say sorry again, I'll save everyone and never make another mistake.'

Time passed, Inko kept trying to tell Izuku that he was quirkless but every time she tried, she couldnt get the words out. Before she knew it 2 years had passed. Izuku kept trying to use either his dad's fire breath or Inko's own minor telekinesis, to no success. She just couldn't bring herself to extinguish that last flicker of hope in Izuku's eyes.

Izuku never stopped hoping for his quirk to come in, but he realised that wouldn't be enough he started a new notebook "one armed notes to be a hero", he spent his time researching prosthetics and how to fight with one arm. He found that with the newest prosthetics it had full control but would have to be sized to him once he was fully grown.

The kids at school were shocked, A few of the boys tried to start bullying Izuku, calling him Deku. Katsuki quickly put a stop to that, picking fights with anyone he heard say the name.

Katsuki drifted away from everyone, he used every moment he could to train his body, mind and quirk. He avoided talking to anybody even Izuku.

Sitting on Takoba beach Izuku watched the the waves crash against the piles of junk. From his spot of clean sand surrounded by piles of scrap, Izuku closed his eyes and let the sounds of the beach relax him. He came here often. When no one talks to you you quickly find crowded environments awkward, surrounded by but seperate from any conversation. Izuku quickly came to prefer solitude.

His brief time of introspection was interrupted as he became aware of a whistling sound that was getting louder. Confused, Izuku looked up and noticed a small black shape getting larger as it descended towards him. Quicker then he could then he could track with his eyes, the meteorite slammed into a neighbouring trash pile. The scrap exploded into the air covering Izuku and his clean patch of sand with rubbish.

Filled with curiosity Izuku scrambled over the piles of scraps. Expecting a burning crater, he was surprised by a stone cube sat on the pristine sand. Feeling no heat he approached the cube and marvelled at the intricate runes that covered the stone. Running his hands over the smooth carvings he found a roughly hand shaped indent. The hand was far larger then his own with slightly elongated fingers and claws.

Pressing his hand into the groove a green light began to emit from the stone under his palm. Jumping back Izuku adopted a rough fighting stance with his left arm forward hiding his injured side.

The light from the stone continued to grow as with a swirl an ethereal figure emerged floating in the air.

'Calm yourself young one. I mean you no harm' the being said.

Izuku feeling his heart racing in his chest slowly lowered his fist and observed the figure. He didn't sense any malice from the being in front of him, in fact the creature was giving off an almost physical light. They were tall easily 7' tall, with animalistic features often found in people with fox morph quirks, with large ears and a pointed snout. Covered in short dark fur with long white hair cascading down their back. They were garbed in seeming ceremonial attire with bands of green metal as a form of armour.

'My name is Rauru, I am unsure how I came to be here. Can you tell me of this place?'
