CHAPTER 30

Florence arrived at the cafe looking for Bill, to deliver a new telegram from Wynn, both she and Ned knew the seriousness of the matter and whenever something arrived they rushed to resolve it quickly. When he was reading, Bill noticed that his wife Abigail, even from afar, was watching him. She was a very smart lady, she had already realized something was going on, but she was kind enough to support him without asking anything.

URGENT - BILL

BE CAREFUL WITH DANGER? PHILIP IS JACK? WYNN.

The door of the cafe opened, and Philip entered with his head down and his face all red in the cheeks and neck. Bill looked from the telegram to Philip with an enormous paleness. Abigail noticed once again that something was happening, she knew that her husband couldn't talk about some police matters or as a judge, but she liked that young man and there was also Elizabeth who she already noticed that this girl had certain looks towards this young man.

A long time ago, Abigail saw them talking sitting on the bench at the police station, her look at him was the same as when she looked at Jack. And his look at Elizabeth was the same...

"IT'S NOT POSSIBLE, IT'S EASIER FOR SHE TO HAVE FOUND TWO MOUNTIES IN HER LIFE WHO LOVED HER, TWO TRUE LOVES, ALL IN THE CITY OF HOPE VALLE THAN JACK THORTON IS ALIVE". Abigail shook her head, she went to greet Philip to try and dispel her strange thoughts.

- Hello Young! What will you want for coffee today?

- The usual. Do you think I can order the usual?

Abigail smiled and felt goosebumps at that sentence. Noticing that he looked strange, he asked:

- Do you have any problem? Can I help with something?

He looked at her, with that lost puppy look and said:

- I just left school, I stopped by to see if Elizabeth was okay, I know these weeks have been really heavy for her with this story about her family being arrested. She was alone inside the school, I saw that she didn't have lunch, didn't eat anything, and she was crying a lot.

Bill, who had approached, immediately asked nervously, what was wrong with her?

- I don't know Bill, I was terrified when I saw her crying like that, I knelt down and could only hug her while she cried in great pain, it was such a painful cry. Her eyes were lifeless, without strength, it seemed like she was looking for something or wanted to give up on something. I could only hold her in my arms until the baby kicked and she smiled. Well the baby kicked after her...

And with his face red like a pepper, he looked down. Bill and Abigail looked at each other...

- She kissed you, didn't she?

He nodded, in a red that had nowhere to get redder; He felt like a child caught up in mischief. Abigail waited for him to tell her everything that had happened. She had known Elizabeth for a long time and if she did that it was for a reason. Bill didn't know whether he was helping Elizabeth or Philip, or whether he was against Philip for kissing Elizabeth, knowing her feelings and not caring for them, but if that telegram was correct, then he now understood the feelings of those two young people. But first of all he needed to talk to himself and his lovely wife.

- Let's go inside, we need to resolve something urgently. Bill said very seriously.

Arriving in the living room, inside her house, where Abigail served coffee and chocolate cake to everyone, they sat at the table, where Bill explained about the telegram, but without talking about the Philip x Jack relationship, but made clear the danger of Spurlok for Elizabeth.

Abigail, told Philip the whole story about Spurlok and his history with Jack and Elizabeth. And that she was in the crosshairs of his gun when he was going to kill her and about how Jack saved her.

- Philip, I'm going to ask you something, but as a judge, that is, nothing will come out of this room, or Elizabeth could die. What do you know about Spurlok? He is Hargraves' cousin, that is, his relative.

- My relative? It's not possible that Hargraves didn't lock him up and throw away the key, a pest like that can't be outside a cell. Bill, when I woke up in the hospital, I didn't remember anything or anyone, so the doctor told me that my cousin was there and everything I know about Hargraves went from then to here, he gave me the house, the job and how I I talked a lot about Hope Valle, he arranged everything to come here. I think I heard something of Jack Thorton's stories and after Elizabeth mistook me for her husband I ended up thinking I could do something for her as a brother in uniform. I may not have a memory, but I know that I have worked or spent time here, or there is something in my life with this city. He told me that our family consisted of him and me, that the rest had all died.

- Philip, you may not like what I'm going to say, but you'll listen to me until the end, Bill said very seriously, more serious than he'd ever seen him.

- Hargraves, he has a not very good record in his career, I have known him since the first day of his life as a soldier, and his record since that time has some commas. Yes, I know you're going to say that he rose through the ranks quickly to a new man, but it wasn't like that, from the beginning he was considered cruel and didn't always do honorable things, until a time he had a living grandfather and father and they always covered it up your dirt. I was one of his teachers and so was Wynn and I can tell you that for us he would have been nothing more than a private. Jack himself had problems with him when the Tolliver gang kidnapped Elizabeth and Julia Thatcher. Jack, he was going to another place to take possession of his new place, and discovered during his trip, that the gang was here, he came back afraid of something happening to his beloved Elizabeth, arriving here he and Patrick saved the girls, they were decorated and each received a check, which Jack used to build the school/church for Elizabeth. Hargraves tried his best to claim the promotion and those two checks, but Superior Wynn saw it and reviewed the case, congratulating Jack and Patrick.

- Are you telling me, Bill, that he may be my cousin, but that he is not very honest and trustworthy? Or rather, are you telling me that he could put Elizabeth and the baby in danger? Agitated, Philip got up and messed with his hair.

Philip was telling them that he asked Hargraves for help in Elizabeth's case, that since he arrived he always reported to him, telling him everything, and that he vented to him when Elizabeth was attacked. He now realized that he could be putting her at risk with his own higher.
