Earth's atmosphere Sol system 3098 A.D.

Petra Parker PoV

After listening to Ghost for the last couple of hours I sat in the pilot's chair and just took it all in. "So there is nothing that we know about the collapse. Not a single damn thing other than the enemy of the Traveler came after it and after that everything went from bad to worse." I said to Ghost. "Correct." He replied in that deep smooth voice of his. " Coming up on the Last safe city on Earth. Tower bay this is Ghost number 5234. Requesting docking for newly rezzed guardian ship."

"Confirmed, welcome back and congrats on finding your guardian, little light." The voice said on the other side. As we were coming in I looked out the window and saw the Traveler for the first time. Hanging in the sky dead center of the city was a giant white colored ball. The bottom of it looked like it was damaged in some way shape or form. Looking at it I felt something resonate inside of me, calling out to me. Shaking that feeling off I got ready for landing and as we were passing what looked like an observation deck I felt my body dissolve into little light particles.

Appearing on the deck I looked around and saw various shops scattered around the area and three pillars that everyone was gathered around. "We should go visit the Vanguard. They are the leaders of three different classes of guardians. Commander Zavala, Tian of the last city and Leader of the titans and the Vanguard. Ikora Rey, Warlock and leader of the warlocks and intelligence gathering group called the hidden. And, finally we have Cayde-6, the hunter vanguard and general all around jokester, but he does keep the hunters organized." said Ghost. "I placed a marker on your HUD that will take you to them."

Walking to the marker I passed what Ghost called the postmaster where I could pick up anything that I didn't pick up while in the field. I also saw a robot that was up above the stairs and over to the side there was a robot behind a desk selling guns. Down the stairs from the gun dude I saw someone that was purple and in a pair of robes.

" That's Master Rahool he decrypts the engrams that are too difficult for ghosts to do out in the field. The exo selling the guns is Banshee-44. He's the best weaponsmith that we have. Across from him is Xander 99-40, he has bounties that come in from the different factions in the city."

After hearing that I continued down the set of stairs and came across a giant of a man that had on a helmet with one horn on it. The other was missing with it being smoothed out from either time or choice. Across from him was another frame. "Thats Lord Shaxx, he's the Crucible master here. The crucible is basically a training ground for guardians to train and hone their abilities or anything new that they learn. The frame across from him is Arcite 99-40, he is one of Lord Shaxxes Redjack frames. They help him clear areas for the crucible, sometimes they are first into a new area already claiming a piece of it."

As we were passing Shaxx I heard him talk and wow was his voice loud. " AH, A NEW GUARDIAN. WELCOME TO THE TOWER, COME SEE ME AFTER YOU ARE DONE WITH THE VANGUARD." Nodding my head I left slightly more deaf than when I entered.

Entering the main room I saw three people standing around a table in the middle of the room. " The one at the head of the table is Commander Zavala, to his right is Ikora Rey and to his left is Cayde-6." Ghost told me. Around the room there were people working on various screens, from a glance it looked like they were looking at reports or filing them out.

Going down the stairs I heard the three talking and as I got closer the talking stopped and they looked at me. "Welcome, may we help you?" said Commander Zavala. " Hello commander Zavala. Its Ghost #5234 reporting back and with my new guardian. Found him in the Cosmodrome in Old Russia." my Ghost said before I could say anything. " Hi, I'm Petra Parker." I introduced myself to the Vanguard.

"Ah, A fresh one. So, have you figured out your class yet? And what your Light alignment is." Said Cayde-6. He was given a look by the only other lady in the conversation. "Cayde what have we talked about springing questions like that to the new lights." Ikora said. After that she looked at me and said" After you get settled in we will help you figure out the best path forward for you and who your Vanguard leader is. Meanwhile, take an apartment on floor 69. Apartment number has been sent to your ghost and there is a care package waiting for you in the apartment."

After saying thanks, I went to the elevator and took it down to floor 69 and a node popped up on my HUD taking me to my apartment. Opening the door I saw that there was the basics of what you would expect in an apartment. There was a couch on the far wall, the kitchen was on the right connecting to the living room, a couple doors on the left and the living room was a straight shot to the door. Opening the doors I saw that one was a bathroom and the other was the bedroom with a vault in it.

Going to the living room I saw that sure enough there was a package on it. Opening it I saw that it was a set of armor with three different things with it. One was a band that went around my arm, the other was what looked like a loincloth and finally we had a cloak that reached about halfway down my back and covered my head, but didn't obscure my vision. Looking inside to see if there was anything else I found a note written by Cayde ' Hey, whats up newbie. I saw that you didn't have that much in the way of weaponry on you. So, here is a coupon to Banshee for a new weapon and a knife.' " Huh, that doesn't sound like cay-. Oh he's trying to bribe you to join the hunters. That makes way more sense." Ghost said. Nodding I asked Ghost to put the new armor set on me.

After getting dressed in my new duds I went to the bathroom to check it out in the mirror. Looking in the mirror I finally saw what I looked like for the first time. I was about 6 ft even with reddish-brown hair and a pair of green eyes, a button nose with a splash of freckles across it. I had from what I could see from the armor covering my body a decent sized bust and a nice bubble butt that flowed into a pair of thighs that while soft were also muscular enough to crush someone's head. After checking myself out I walked out and to the elevator and met a few more guardians. Some were decked out in more fancy armor and better guns. Presumably they had been alive a lot longer than me.

After talking to them for a bit we made it to the top and I made my way to Banshee. "Hey, I'm new around here and Cayde gave me this coupon to get a new weapon and a knife. Also, I picked up this rifle while I was being chased by the fallen. I was wondering if you could repair it." I said while also holding out the Khvostov. " Mmm, choose a weapon from the rack and grab one of the standard hunter knives. About the rifle, I could fix it but it would take a while and I need some spare parts to replace something on it." After hearing that I grabbed what my HUD called a handcannon and a knife. " I can grab the parts for you while I'm in the area. I plan to go back to the Cosmodrome after they figure out where I fit in all of this."

Nodding he sent the list to Ghost and went about disassembling and cleaning it and throwing random parts away. Leaving Banshee I went to the Vanguard and they put me through a bunch of tests. Zavala tested to see how strong I was and what my light leaned toward. Cayde tested to see how agile and fast I was, he also fought me with his knife and while I lost he said I had potential. Ikora tested to see how smart I was and my ingenuity for using my light.

After spending most of my day going through test after test it was finally over and the results were, while I was smart enough to be a Warlock I didn't fit the bill. While I was as strong as a Titan, having lifted and held up to 10 tons of force, that wasn't where I belonged either. In the end I ended up as one of Cayde's hunters. I gave Ikora and Zavala the bond and mark back to them and threw on the cloak.

One Week later

After a week of exploring around the tower and the last city I was called to Cayde's office and I was given a mission. I was told to go investigate a disturbance in the cosmodrome and if possible find and identify it. If it was a fallen enemy I was told to eliminate them, if not then to destroy it and bring back the parts for study. I also dropped by Banshee's stand and told him I was heading out to the cosmodrome and asked if there were any parts there that I needed to pick up. After remembering he nodded and sent the list to Ghost.

I dropped by the hanger to see how the repairs for my ship were going and ran into Amanda. I met her a couple of days ago after my test by the vanguard and needless to say she had some words for me about the condition of the ship.

Flashback

"Huh, so this is the way to the hanger." I said to Ghost after exploring the tower and deciding to go check up on my ship. Making my way over I found a blond woman with a tattoo going down the right side of her arm and wearing overalls and a red shirt with a bandana tied around her neck. She was about 5'9" and from what I could see while she was wearing the overalls, she had maybe a C-cup or a b-cup bordering C-cup, a toned body obviously from working as a mechanic for who knows how long and she had a nice ass that was nice and firm and pert. You could probably bounce a piece of glimmer off of it.

I broke out of my distracted stare when I heard someone yelling at me. Looking I saw that it was the blond woman " Hey, you the one that brought this rust bucket in?" Nodding my head I noticed that her voice sounded different from everyone else's. I had noticed it before with Zavala, his voice sounded a bit more proper, I guess the word would be. Hers sounded like she had spent her entire life living on a farm.

"Yes, I came to see if there was anything you could do to salvage it. This thing saved my life, if not for her I wouldn't have made it out in the first place." I said and seeing her sigh I knew that I was in for a ride. "I could, but it would take some time and parts. Plus it's missing its warp drive, so if you ever planned on leaving the system then your're stuck on earth and the moon."

Groaning, I asked her how long it would take before it was fixed. "Give me five days to a week max." she said, knowing that a guardian without a ship was basically useless. Nodding, I turned and left and decided to go explore.

After exploring I found a couple of interesting people. One was called Arach Jalaal,he was awoken, the same race as Zavala he leads a group called Dead Orbit. They believe that we should leave earth and rebuild on a different planet. While it sounded nice it didn't seem all that effective considering we would have to figure out which things were edible and the use for anything on that planet.

Another one was Executor Hideo, the leader of the New Monarchy. He was human and from the way he dressed was very rich and the things he said while talking to me he was well connected. The New Monarchy believed that having a strong leadership would help us get back to the Golden age and that if a strong leader wasn't present then one could be made. They seemed okay other than the fact that they had people positioned in positions of power throughout the city.

The last major one that was called Future War cult and their leader was Lakshmi-2, a exo the same race? Species? As Cayde. They believed that the war between the darkness and the forces of light was inevitable therefore we should be ready for it when it comes. They had weapon caches in the city for when that time came. Out of the three this one seemed the tamest, but there was something about Lakshmi-2 that bothered me. My danger sense gave a very faint hum whenever I was around her.

I eventually decided to work with all three of them and I came to an agreement with them. Dead orbit would supply me some different shaders for armor and intel about habitable planets outside of Sol. The New Monarchy would supply me with armor when I needed it and they would give me faint whispers of what was happening politically in the city. Future war cult would supply me with new weapons and info on the enemies of humanity.

Flashback end

"So, how's she doing?" I asked Amanda when I entered the hangar bay. "Well, she won't win any races but she should be able to take you to the moon and back without shutting off or imploding on you." she replied. Nodding, I had Ghost start it up and run a diagnostics check on it real quick. After everything came back green I thanked Amanda and hopped in and we took off to the Cosmodrome.

Atlantic Ocean, somewhere near Europe

"You know it's been a week and I still haven't given you a name yet." I said to Ghost and after a minute of silence he replied with " Well, what do you say? I give you a name and you give me a name." "Deal." I said without hesitation. As much as I loved knowing what my name was from who I was before I felt like I wasn't them anymore and I needed a new name to help change.

" You go first." I told Ghost. Nodding, he was silent for a few minutes and said " Well you seem to be stronger than the average guardian even stronger then some Titans. You also seem to be able to stick to walls and you know whenever danger is in the area and when to dodge a hit or shot. Even then we still don't know what else you can do yet. So after careful consideration I am going to call you… Spider." Hearing him say that I couldn't help but laugh a little bit. " Oh , you think that I'm as scary as a tiny arachnid?" I teased him.

After calming down I thought about it and finally said " Since we are going for an arachnid theme I shall call you Ananasi after the Ancient African God of spiders. You know since you basically control whether I get to live if I die in combat."

"Coming up on the Cosmodrome, Spider. Setting us down near the Steppes. It's a good area to access the rest of the area." "Alright Ananasi. When we get out, set the ship to patrol mode and have it make a sweep around avoiding enemy fire preferably, so we don't get yelled at by Amanda more." Feeling him through our link I got ready to exit.

Landing in a broken building I looked around and saw that there was Fallen scattered around looking through things. 'Alright, what do we do now Ananasi?' I thought and just as quickly I heard him say. ' We need a map of the area. There is an energy source coming from that building. If I were to guess I would say that there is something important there, maybe even a map of the area.' Nodding, I readied my guns and made my way to the building. As I was running there I noticed that I was a lot faster then I seemed at first with the grass starting to blur a little, but since the building was only a couple hundred yards I couldn't really get a feel for the speed.

Stopping a short distance away I saw that there was Fallen guarding the outside of the building. From the looks of it there were only 5 dregs and 9 vandals. Checking my handcannon again to make sure everything was good I focused and what Cayde had called a skip grenade formed in my hand. Judging the distance I stepped back and threw it at the Fallen and while it was in mid air I took aim at one of the vandals and fired. As the vandal staggered from being shot my grenade landed and split apart and tracked to the 5 dregs and disintegrated them into Arc lightning.

Running forward I fired at the vandal again and killed him with the second shot. Grabbing my knife I threw it at a vandal killing it via knife to the brain. 'Two down, seven to go.' I thought. And grabbed my knife from the skull of the vandal after the others scattered. Aiming I nailed one in the back of the head twice in quick succession killing it fast.

Seeing a vandal running to cover I took aim and was about to fire when my gun was knocked out of my hand. Looking over from where the shot came from I saw one of the other vandals aiming at me. Jumping to the side I saw my gun get hit again rendering it useless. Groaning, I thought to Ananasi 'Remind me to get those parts for Banshee. I can't wait to see what he improves when he's done.' Almost on reflex I put my fingers in a position where the middle and ring finger were pressed against my palm. Surprisingly enough something did happen, a bulge formed just below my wrist and seeing it I used my knife and cut a hole for it and saw a white substance there.

After grabbing it I saw that it was elastic and trying to tear it I found that it was also strong. Looking at the vandal who broke my gun I fired the substance at it and hit it in the face. When that happened I pulled and the vandal came flying at me. Readying my knife I slashed at it when it got close and I hit it in the throat killing it immediately. Grinning, I shot what I am now calling webbing, to the ceiling and pulled myself up to it and stuck to it. Crawling around I found the rest of the vandals grouped together. Forming another skip grenade and dropping it in the middle of them and dropping with it slashing and stabbing the ones that weren't killed by the grenade.

After that I grabbed one of their pistols and checking it I saw that they were powered by a core pulsing with Arc energy. Checking the swords also I saw they were the same. Grabbing another pistol and a sword I made my way down the stairs and after checking to see if there was any Fallen I found the room generating so much energy. Seeing that it was a map of the Cosmodrome I had Ananasi start a link to download it and send it to Vanguard to update the map. While he was doing that I heard a shift on the ground. Turning I saw a vandal, but it was like he was blending in with the background. Bringing up the shock pistol I fired at him. He dodged and came in close, slashing at me, jumping back.

I grabbed the sword that I took from his buddies upstairs and fired a web blinding him and slashed at him, cutting off his arms on the right side. Slashing across his throat I killed him and jumped back after sensing an attack from behind. Dodging, I turned to see a few more of them cloaked. ' Must have been hiding on the ceiling in case someone made it past the first group.'

Shooting webs at them I saw that I managed to blind some of them. Rushing forward I started slashing with my knife and occasionally a flicker of Arc light would jump off and vaporize a Fallen. I was so into it that I ignored a warning from my danger sense. Next thing I knew I felt a

searing hot pain flash through my side. Looking down I saw a hole about the size of my fist showing an exit wound on my stomach. Distracted by that I felt a spear pierce through my throat spewing blood everywhere. Dropping to my knees I saw them going to Ananasi and I released a pulse of Arc energy. Last thing I saw before I died was the Fallen being disintegrated and Ananasi flying toward me.
