Chapter 2: Last Embers

Inside a run-down brick building outside of any prying eyes, a certain pyromaniac was sitting there, lighting his hands ablaze in a vibrant blue flame. It would be beautiful, if not for the fact it could cremate a person in 15 seconds of prolonged exposure. As soon as he lit his hands he recoiled and put them out. Once more he lit his hands ablaze, gritting his teeth as his skin flaked, we begin to follow up his arms as we see dark purple skin stitched together, looking as if you threw someone into a volcano and dragged them back out. He yelped as a piece of flesh peeled off from the exposure, he began to sow himself back together, sloppily but also delicately. "Irk" he gritted through the pain. As he finished stitching he stood up. "AHH" he shot a flame out the window into a tree, it quickly being turned into a pile of ash. He stared unfeeling into the inferno as it was going out. "Quite the display, Dabi, or should I say Touya '' The newly revealed Dabi… or Touya turned around in unbridled fury. He shot out a geyser of flames as he turned around. As he stopped he was dumbfounded when no one was there, but then a chill went down his spine as he spun his fist behind him. "Don't try that again" The darkly cloaked figure exclaimed as a mist enveloped his fist, and the same mist opened behind him, hitting him in the back and knocking him to the ground. He growled as he fell to the ground and stared up from the ground in a kneeling position. "My master needs to speak with you". "Your master"? He opened a portal into a dark but well-lit bar, one that looked like the kind you would use for a drug deal in the prequirk era, but now… "he's waiting" he cautiously stood up "Why should I trust you"? "Whether you do is your choice, but either way you're going to be speaking with my master, whether that be with lost limbs will be your choice". He grimaced as he slowly complied, the figure closed the portal as he stepped through, almost closing it too early, remembering the comment about lost limbs and making the connection. "Welcome, Touya" a t.v. on the wall exclaimed. "Don't call me that" he growled in a low voice, but one that promised pain. "Oh, I forgot, you go by Dabi now" "How do you know me" "Oh we are very well acquainted". "How so"? "I granted you a favor once" "I've come to cash in on our deal" "and what exactly is my end of the bargain"? "Oh nothing much, just your quirk" Dabi went wide-eyed as this was said, he resented his quirk ever since it burned him, but to lose it would be to lose a part of yourself. "I won't leave you empty-handed, you just won't leave here the same" "How do you even take a person's quirk, it's in their D.N.A. itself, that should be impossible". Well, we have methods, a couple actually but one of them has been hung up as it has… unforeseen consequences". The bizarre tone behind that lost part made him reconsider not just burning this whole place down. "Lucky for you, my method is a lot more humane, and efficient at that". A portal opened in the middle of the room, the T.V. he was speaking through was starting to spark as the colossal man stepped through. "His blood ran cold as he stared up at him. "Now, please hold still and we can make this painless". Dabi's adrenaline spiked as he breathed fire right into the man's face, he then ran through the smoke, giving him a certain finger. The man seemed undeterred and even unbothered. "Kirogami" He stood in readiness. "You need the exercise, bring him back here, preferably without limbs missing" "he very minisculely smirked. "No promises" and at that he let himself fall through a portal. He fell through a black abyss, he fell through the other end and through the air. He landed right in front of a panting Dabi. "you again, I should have killed you as soon as I got the chance". It's funny you think you could have," he says as he launches himself forward, Dabi throws a wave of fire but is surprised when he evaporates, but is even more surprised when he feels a heel against his jaw. He tumbles to the side but the darkly clad combatant is unrelenting and lands an uppercut, fully breaking his jaw. "You, you'll pay for that". He unleashes a huge torrent of flame as he says this. He doges out of the way and a black mass forms out of his back, it forms into a shadowy replica of him. The clone then teleports behind the pyromaniac. "Ack" he tries to breathe as he gets placed in a chokehold, he shoots flames behind himself but the clone quickly jumps off his back and shoots a white sparking projectile, he doesn't have the agility to dodge as he gets hit. He then tries to find his sense of balance as he's placed under a sort of spell. "Where are you"! Dabi screams. He then gets an answer, one in the form of a punch to the gut. He recoiled as the air was knocked out of him. He then gets knocked out, via boot to the face.

Dabi then wakes up, he feels sore and broken but that's not what bothers him, no, it's the fact he is surrounded by monsters, monsters with differing appearances, big to small, bulky and muscular to thin and spindly, but one defining characteristic is they all have an exposed brain. One then begins to get up, then another, then another and another, and another, and another. Cease Numu's. We have an old friend. Dabi didn't know what to think. Weather to be scared of the beasts. Or to keep his ego in check and blast his way out of here, and that's when he noticed, he expected to be tied down but no, he was free to go. "Bad mistake not tying me down," he said as he raised a hand to unleash a flamethrower, only for it to not do as expected, instead of the wave of heat he would usually expect, what he got was frigid cold, it felt nice in a way but he was too surprised by what he saw to care, instead of fire, it was, he remembered his brothers and their ice quirks, and his mother… "AHHHHH" he screamed at the reminder of why his life went down a dark path in the first place. "You seem to be getting used to your new power," the large man from earlier said. "What..what did you do to me"? Dabi said, panting. "Why I improved you, you may not have realized it but you are much more suited for an ice quirk than fire. "Where did you get it"? He asked, not wanting to know the answer. "Oh I got it from a kid in Mustafa, he was lucky enough to get it from a mutation" Relief washed over him before it was snuffed out. "Ya I didn't need it after to getting from a, oh what was her name, Rai Todoroki" he wanted to say something but his words caught in his throat "Her quirk was so ripe for the taking, that poor woman stuck in a mental hospital all day, no one to watch her while she sleeps, but you wouldn't care about that, you have nothing to do with the Todoroki's, do you". "Mo-mom" "I'LL KILL YOU"! A torrent of jagged ice shot out at lightning speeds, exceeding anything the previous owner could have managed. The King in black, All For One raised his hand forward in kind, unleashing a powerful gust of wind that shattered the glacier and shook the very foundation. Dabi let loose glacier after glacier after glacier, neither seeming to be affected by the rapid change in temperature. Even so, he wasn't fairing well against A.F.O's assault, he unleashed everything from air shockwaves to using HIS fire quirk, to even what he now knows as his mother's cryomancy quirk. "I WILL DESTROY YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE"! "hahaha, funny, this has been fun but the doctor still needs a lab to come back to so I'm going to have to wrap up this little skirmish". "LIKE HELL YOU WILL"! He sends out a skyscraper of a glacier right on a collision course with the King in Black. "Fool" he swipes his hand to the side as the ice shatters like glass. "I put Almight in the hospital and you think you can do better, pathetic" In the blink of an eye he is in front of him, grabs him by the neck pounds him into the ground, and releases a flurry of punches. He then calls over a certain cloaked assassin. "What do you need sir" "Drop this off at Detective Tsukauchi's doorstep". "Why not just kill him" "Because, that wasn't part of the deal, and you never know when you might need more recruits, or at least competent ones" he nods as a portal opens up and Kirogami roughly throws the now bruised and bloody Dabi, head first into the doorbell. "Tsukauchi's gonna have quite the delivery," he said as he closed the portal.

"You shall be receiving your next quirk" "YES" he exclaimed what he thought was just in his head. "Sorry Sens-dad" "Please, please, you're excited, you should be, as you Are getting the fire quirk you oh so helpfuly got". "Sorry for my rudeness but what's in it for you"? "What do I get, I get a new pawn to torment" he nodded as he kneeled before him. The colossal man bent down and placed his hand upon the boy's head as red static began to link the two". "Go forth my son, wreak some havoc with your new-found power".
