Five year old Hermione Granger sat at the head of the table with her birthday cake in front of her. Five candles flickered in the bright pink icing of her cake. Even though her parents were dentists they allowed a few treats now and again in moderation.

"Make a wish Princess. And make sure you think really hard about it." Her father said with a grin.

Hermione closed her eyes and thought about the castle and the prince and all of the things she had been reading in her chapter books recently As she took a deep breath and blew the flames sparkled silver and gold while the smoke rose in rapid pink and purple sparkles. Her mother also swore there was a deep emerald green component to the smoke. Her parents chuckled worriedly for a moment then when nothign else happened they sighed and went on with the party for their special princess.

Headmistress Hermione Potter leaned over the railing of the Astronomy tower watching the students playing on the Quidditch pitch in the setting sun. She had taken over when Minerva had finally retired to Avalon. She smiled when she heard the familiar footsteps coming up behind her. Strong arms that encircled her waist.

"Sickle for your thoughts my love." Harry whispered in her ear.

"Just thinking about a wish a young girl made 60 years ago." she replied happily.

"Oh? Did the wish come true?" harry asked as she turned within the circle of his arms to face him.

Thinking about the wish to live in a castle and marry a prince. To have magic and dragons and adventure in her life Hermione smiled. "And then some."
