"You can't seriously be making me do this."
"We are." Eva towered over the desk Noah was sitting at, arms folded. "We're not gonna sit back and watch you waste away."
Noah scoffed."Waste away.Don't be so overdramatic."
"Come on, Noah!" Izzy said, gripping the back of Noah's chair. "Don't be somelodramatic!"
"What? I'm not-"
"Noah. We're not blind. We know you're in love with him." Eva's voice was stern. "Did you seriously think we wouldn't notice the way you always stare at him during lunch? Or how you always try and sit next to him in all your classes together?"
Noah swallowed thickly. How could he have been so careless? What was he, an idiot? He should have known his friends would pick up on it eventually."It's because he's my friend-"
"Oh sure, and I bet you give that lovesick puppy gaze to all your friends!" Izzy chimed in, grinning knowingly.
Noah thought about all the times he'd caught the boy's eye from across the crowded cafeteria, and how he always gave him a little smile and wave in return. It was enough to make Noah smile himself, just a little. The fact that he'd let his guard slip enough for Eva and Izzy to notice made him want to shrivel up and die of embarrassment. He'd always acted like he was above having crushes. But now they knew the truth.
He stared down at the pen and paper before him. And now it had led tothis.
"You seriously can't be making me do this," he said again, still in disbelief.
"Look, sooner or later, you're gonna have to confess." Eva tapped the paper with a forceful finger. "An anonymous love letter would get your foot in the door."
"How do you even know if he's into guys?" Noah asked.
Izzy's grin grew wider. "We have our methods. Now, stop wasting time andwrite the damn thing!"
Noah, startled by the sudden rise in volume of her voice, picked up the pen. Already, it felt like he'd just crossed the point of no return. His fingers shook slightly. He did his best to still them.
"Be polite, but don't hold back how you feel," Eva instructed.
"Write something about his smile!" Izzy suggested. "Or his hair, his singing voice, or maybe even that gap in his teeth!"
With both of them looming over him, Noah had no choice but to comply.
So he put pen to paper and slowly began to form the words,To Cody...
