A/N: Plot bunny that I haven't seen specifically explored. Some guidelines here. In this story, Kimberly is technically born on M-51 and is Master Vile's youngest daughter but is whisked away to Phaedos, then Earth at birth before she can be fully corrupted. As such, in this story she is adopted.

A/N 2: Also, Dulcea is evil in this story - the Ninjetti and Phaedos is under different leadership in this story as Dulcea betrayed the Ninjetti once to join Master Vile. Phaedos doesn't come into play until Kimberly leaves the team. Dulcea is Kimberly's mother and Master Vile's wife. This story will eventually involve Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder.

A/N 3: Usual disclaimer. Power Rangers does not belong to me.

Chapter 1 – In the Beginning

10,000 years before Earth's Rangers

Somewhere near KO-35

Master Vile's Space Skull

In 24 hours they would be going into battle against KO-35's defenders in an attempt to take the planet over, but for this point in time, Master Vile and his wife Dulcea could celebrate something else.

They were in the infirmary wing of Master Vile's ship, looking at their new child. Rita was older by a significant margin, but they could still see that this newborn, when she started to mature, was going to be very powerful.

That was true especially if she had her mother's traits. Dulcea was a former ninja from the side of light who had been allured by the forces of evil and had betrayed the Ninjetti world. Once she joined Master Vile, she became a dark ninja and was excommunicated from the planet forever.

She didn't often appear in battles, but those who faced her knew how dangerous she was.

"I have it. The name for our child," Dulcea said. Master Vile looked at his wife.

"Kamara Angel Vile," Dulcea said. A cruel smile crossed his lips. "Angelique for the middle name because she looks like an angel."

"You have said it, and so shall it be," Master Vile said.

"Now comes tomorrow," Dulcea said. "We have a battle to win, but we must protect our child."

"That solution is easily done. I and my army can handle these defenders. You are to stay here and protect this child," Vile said. "I just know they're going to try and steal her."

"Of course they will. Your plan is sound," Dulcea said as they walked off to the nursery that had been built when it was obvious the two evildoers were going to have another child.

What they weren't aware of was that they were being watched and that every word they had said was picked up on.

The rare negligence by this feared duo would end up costing them dearly.

The next day

As was the plan laid out the night before, Master Vile would go out and fight, while Dulcea would stay and protect the child.

It seemed to be a sound plan, most times when they attacked a planet, especially one such as KO-35, that their magic was good enough to beat whatever defenders a planet had, or get something they needed. That's why they ruled over the entire M-51 Galaxy.

Today, however, was quite different. The KO-35 people seemed extra galvanized today and were taking the fight to her husband and his army. In fact, by most aspects they were winning the fight today.

Then Dulcea gasped as suddenly, Andros, the leader of this planet's defenders (who still had a chip on his shoulder after losing his sister to Dark Specter), kicked Master Vile to the ground. Rarely had she seen Andros THIS agitated.

Not only that, the planet's population seemed to be against them. Andros had taken the unusual step of asking the planet's population to resist this attack.

Then, Dulcea saw her husband get attacked again, this time by the Yellow KO-35 Ranger's Star Slinger.

Even more shocking was what came next, as suddenly Dulcea heard her communication device chime.

"Baby, I hate to do this, but I need you out here," she heard Master Vile say.

"But, the child…" Dulcea cried frantically. "We know this is partially about trying to lure me out! They're not even trying to hide it!"

"Unfortunately, they have been successful in that task," Master Vile said. "We must do what we came here to do and that is hurt good people. To that end, I need your help."

"Very well," Dulcea said. "But if we lose that child I know it's going to come back to haunt us."

Dulcea shimmered out and teleported to the battle field.

This opened the door for two people to rush into the ship; one, the new Master Warrior of Phaedos, Galaxia and Ninjor, creator of the original Power Coins. They met some guards along the way but easily disposed of them and made their way to the nursery.

The child was beautiful, sleeping peacefully.

"That child, Kamara, deserves to choose how she wants to live," Galaxia said. "I can feel it. She is going to be extremely powerful."

"Get her and let's go," Ninjor ordered.

"I'll take her to Phaedos and take care of her, that way we can hold her until the time is right. Hopefully the goodness of the planet will eliminate any evil that may be in her," Galaxia said.

Wasting no more time, they picked up the small child and carried her towards the ship's exit. They would have to hurry because eventually Vile would figure out something was wrong.

Meanwhile, outside, for the most part even when Dulcea joined the fight they were unable to make headway. Both sides were even, as the magic of this husband and wife duo was very powerful, but the Kerovians had strength in numbers today, even though some were finally falling.

This went on about 10 minutes before Vile felt something very wrong.

"We need to retreat. I have a bad feeling. This has gone on too long. We were both right. It is a setup," Vile said.

Dulcea looked at him and mouthed, "Agreed."

"You escaped this time, Kerovians, but one day we will conquer you!" Vile ranted as the couple teleported out.

Landing in the Space Skull, the husband and wife couple dashed to the nursery and felt their hearts drop.

The child was gone.

Looking at the atmosphere, they saw a small ship leaving. They could only guess whoever was in that ship had taken their child.

"Tell Siphon to leave the planet's orbit immediately," Vile told his wife. "We must follow that ship. And tell him to dispatch any fighters if necessary to attack that ship, destroy it and get that child back."

Nodding, Dulcea rushed off. A few minutes later she returned and said, "Orders dispatched. We are leaving and following them. We will have to hurry as they have a head start."

Taking off from the planet and roaring at maximum speed, they were easily able to track the ship that was leaving, even though the ship had tried to cloak itself, the Space Skull's tracking abilities easily nullified the cloaking of Ninjor and Galaxia's ship.

Several hours later, Dulcea said, "I just received word from Siphon. They're heading on a track towards Phaedos."

"Of course," Vile spat, "because as you know that planet has a powerful cloaking shield that even the Space Skull can't break through. We will not be able to get Kamara back if she reaches there."

"Then we have no time to lose as Phaedos is not far," Dulcea said. "We must dispatch all of our ships to try and stop them from reaching there."

Meanwhile…

The ship was approaching Phaedos, but it was getting low on fuel as they constantly had to outrun Dulcea and Vile's Space Skull and its accompanying army of ships. They were getting hammered now too.

"Shields down to 50%!" Galaxia shouted frantically.

Fortunately, Trey of Triforia had come aboard after Galaxia and Ninjor had successfully given this child a chance to live the way she wanted to, when the time was right.

"Adding more power," Trey said as he concentrated and gold energy flowed throughout the ship. The shields stabilized for a moment and the ship picked up speed again. But a few minutes later, a massive attack by the Space Skull harmed the ship greatly. But by that time, they were at the edge of the shield protecting Phaedos.

If they could just get through that…

"Adding just a bit more power…" Trey grunted as he pushed the ship forward.

Their relief was short lived as one more big blast from the Space Skull left the ship essentially useless.

Trey's power ups had done the trick though. They had gotten over the finish line just barely.

"Abandon ship!" Ninjor ordered right as he grabbed the child. They both teleported out right as the ship burst into flames.

The Space Skull

"Curses!" Vile shouted as he saw the two beams of light emanate forth from the ship, right as the ship blew up into nothing but space metal.

He and Dulcea were too late to take their child back. It was a rare loss.

"We will have the Council of Meledon pay for this treachery," Dulcea said. "I think Rita, even as young as she is, can give them a run for their money."

"Exactly," Vile said. "Call Rita and order her and her army to follow wherever Zordon goes. Zordon will pay for the sins of his teammates. This treachery will not go unpunished."

And Vile's prediction would come true, as Rita lost the Power Coins to Zordon, but trapped him in a time warp as retaliation for not just losing the Power Coins, but losing her younger sister as well.

They all couldn't help but feel, though, that the escape Ninjor and Galaxia had pulled off would prove to be critical down the line.

They simply had no idea how right they were going to be.

Earth year, 1978

"Are you sure this is the right thing to do, Ninjor?" Galaxia asked her friend and former teammate.

"I am absolutely sure, Galaxia," Ninjor said from his Temple of Power. "One of these years, the Earth will be attacked by unprecedented evils. This child will be needed in that battle. Did Phaedos purge any evil from her?"

"I would think so, she hasn't left here since we took her here," Galaxia said. "But there's really only one way to find out."

"One thing. We should change her name when I take her to Earth. If we keep the name Kamara, it may arouse suspicions," Ninjor said.

"Quite true," Galaxia said. "What about Kimberly Ann?"

"A nice name and should be harder to track. We will obviously need to put her in the adoption system that is on this planet," Ninjor said. "And we will need to keep her protected for as long as possible because one day that secrecy will be blown open. I do not look forward to that day."

"You got that right," Galaxia said, "looking down at the beautiful child. "But until then, she deserves to have a free life unlike what she would have had with Vile and Dulcea."

"Quite true," Ninjor said. "May the Power protect us all."

Earth year, 1993

Rita's Moon Palace

Rita Repulsa had only fought these…Power Rangers…for about 15 battles and already knew she was up against it.

The Terror Toad battle was particularly galling for Rita's forces. They had victory in the palm of their hands, but had been thwarted…singlehandedly…by Zordon's Pink Ranger – Kimberly, she was called - who had freed the other four Rangers from Terror Toad's hungry belly, and then destroying the monster herself.

Today, she'd also rode to the rescue of the other Rangers again, this time against the powerful Snizzard.

Rita scratched her chin. There was something about that Pink Ranger…she could just feel it. She just didn't know what it was.

It was pretty obvious somebody was hiding something and Rita was determined to get to the bottom of it.

She really wished her father was here now, but he was quite busy in other conquest matters. If he were here, she knew he would find the problem. She'd tried to call him again today about her woes against the Rangers of Earth, but again, he was busy and said he didn't have the time.

Rita had no problem acknowledging her father was smarter than her, and more deadly. He was just…preoccupied these days. She knew he could crush these warriors in five minutes flat.

He had, however, suggested Rita use the Green Power Coin she'd won against Zordon in their final encounter.

To Rita, it was a big risk. If she activated that coin and her warrior defected to Zordon, that would give him even more of an advantage.

Nevertheless, she was going to have to think about doing it. Monsters weren't cutting it…some of her better ones were being defeated by these young upstarts. They needed to be put in their place.

And she wondered again…what was up with that Pink Ranger? She'd never recalled a time where a single warrior had gone up against Terror Toad, faced the abyss alone, and won.

She was going to have to keep an eye out for that one. She decided she would give it one or two more chances and if those didn't work, then she'd bring in the Green Power Coin.

She sighed. In a way, the Rangers had already won by forcing her hand and making her take a big risk.

For the daughter of Master Vile and his chosen heir, losing was not an option.

Command Center, same time

Meanwhile, Zordon remained in his tube hours after the Rangers improbable victory against Snizzard. This one had all the markings of a fight where everything could go wrong – and almost did.

Snizzard had almost beaten the Rangers and Squatt had almost taken Kimberly and her uncle Steve's life, yet somehow, Kimberly had pulled off both ends of the miracle.

And in both cases, it was one shot from the Pink Ranger's Power Bow that played a big role in destroying both monsters.

None of the other four Rangers could even come close to making a dent against either monster. In both cases, when it was down to Kimberly or the monster, he had a growing dread that it was over. In both cases, the Rangers survived thanks to her.

Rita wanted to know things and probably would have loved to interrogate her, but the truth was as knowledgeable as he was, he was just as clueless as she.

He was going to have to keep an eye on this one.
