The year was 1888, the same time Jack the Ripper stalked the streets of London and Victoria reigned as Queen.
Blood dripped down the mysterious man's gloved hands. He smiled lightly as if he were a clown in a carnival rather than a murderer.
He flung the dead body away and added it to the pile of other corpses.
"Ciao~ "
He walked away, a spring in his step, blood on his hands and a smirk on his lips.
He took a thin, white and black mask with an eerie smile etched on it and fitted it onto his face, obscuring his thin, manipulative eyes.
He jumped from the tall craggy mountain, the dark fog making him look as if he were purely a purple blur in the dark night. The stars and moons were invisible, as if they had been washed from existence by this alluring being.
Dimentio landed on the tip of a tower on Castle Bleck and looked up at the sky. Rain lightly sprinkled on his head.
He took off the mask yet again, so that the rain fell over his eyes, as if he were crying. But Dimentio didn't cry, he hadn't cried for years, if not for his whole life. He had too many scars to care about...anything.
At one point in his life the line between a tragedy and comedy had melded...until he couldn't even tell them apart. His life had just turned into one bad joke.
"Dimentio, you are commanded to Count Bleck's study."
Dimentio blinked his eyes to dissipate his musings and slid on his mask yet again.
"As you wish."
He offered a polite bow before he teleported into a dark study with ominous candelabras floating in the air, with no visible signs of elevation.
"Count Bleck~ Why do I have the pleasure of meeting with you today?"
Count Bleck sat on a throne, looking down on Dimentio, his butler, as if he were a lower being. If only he knew how wrong he was.
"Today...you will go to the town...and make all the citizens fear me."
Dimentio lightly laughed, "The entire town?" Dimentio said sarcastically, in truth he was far stronger than Count Bleck and it was well in his power to make an entire country (If not world) fear and worship him.
"Why do you have a smirk?" Count Bleck said, his eyes thinning until they were no more than slits. His hat created a shadow over his already dark skin.
"Oh~ no reason~ Will I be alone on this… 'mission'…?"
Count Bleck snapped his fingers and a short woman with green hair walked in.
"What lovely company~ I must say...I'm getting excited for this mission!"
One of Count Bleck's maids, Mimi, blushed at Dimentio's flirtations and attempted to hide the flustered flush of her cheeks.
"My, my, is that a blush? Let me have a closer look~ " Dimentio tipped up Mimi's chin and stared into her face.
Mimi blushed even harder and pushed him away. "Stop that!"
Dimentio laughed lightly and caught her around the waist, pulling her closer. "Or what?"
Mimi pushed him away, even more flustered than before. She stomped off and shouted back. "We have a mission to do! Let's get this over with!"
Dimentio ran over to join her. "Well I must say, I wouldn't mind if this mission took a little longer~ "
Mimi sniffed. "Well I'd rather not be here all night, you creepy clown."
"Oh really? I can't imagine something I'd like more than causing horror and mayhem with a tantalising lady by my side."
Mimi blushed again. "Just because you're hot doesn't mean you can get away with being weird!"
"Oh~ " Dimentio peered over at Mimi, seeming all too excited. "So you admit you are attracted to me?"
Mimi purposely didn't look at him.
The town was not prepared at all for the terror they were about to experience that day.
Dimentio took Mimi by the hand and they teleported to a muddy, dirt path.
"Not the place I'd want to be with a beautiful lady...but it'll have to do "
As soon as they landed on the path, Mimi hastily took her hand away from Dimentio's grasp.
"Our mission is to cause...chaos? What does The Count have in mind? Us...killing everyone?"
Mimi's words were rushed together, as if she were trying her best to forget about Dimentio's rather distracting presence.
"Killing everyone is more of Mr. O'chunks' style...I prefer to be a bit more disturbing~ "
Dimentio and Mimi walked towards the village.
Dimentio placed a hand lightly over Mimi's eyes. "You might want to close your eyes, mia amata."
Mimi closed her eyes tightly. She was just a maid, she was not used to the grim orders Count Bleck gave to his servants. But Dimentio was…and he enjoyed them far too much. Blood and mayhem were the only things that made him feel remotely alive. Whenever he heard people scream in terror he was reminded of himself, long ago.
But those days were over, and now he was the one who created the screams.
Dimentio waltzed into the town. The townspeople turned pale and ran into their houses, slamming the doors shut. The Bleck's butler was well known for his sadistic sense of humour, and his willingness to carry out even the most cruel of his master's orders. Dimentio began to hum a little tune. There was nowhere for them to hide. Desolation had arrived.
"I heard some people here have been naughty ~ "
"AAAAAAAH THE BLECK'S SERVANTS ARE HERE!?" Three old man ran out of a bar, still clutching their beers.
Dementio grabs one of their heads and crushes it, the brains falling out of his ears. "Just a joke, do not fear. It was only a doll ~" Dimentio laughed and spread his hands apart.
A mangled doll lay on the ground. The brains had only been stuffing. The men fell to their knees, so scared they were almost fainting.
"Why are you all so scared? Why don't you just smile instead?" Dimentio's face was always a smile, plastered on his mask so no one could see the darkness that lay behind it. He pulled out a playing card and playfully pulled up the corners of the men's mouths, leaving little cuts in the shape of a smile.
They fell down, the pure terror too much to stand. The rest of the town had gathered now, scared at what might be their fates if they hid for too long.
"Now now," Dimentio strode to the centre, his arms spread wide. "What game shall we play today~ "
Just then, small arms wrapped around his waist. "Please, Dimentio, isn't this enough?"
Dimentio turned around to see Mimi, tears streaking down her cheeks. She hadn't closed her eyes after all. He was so caught off guard that he allowed himself to lean into her embrace. It was warm, and comforting, and reminded him of something he should have forgotten.
He jerked away from her. "Finish up here," he whispered in Mimi's ear and then teleported away. He would never allow his frozen heart to love again. The only thing that lay in his future was a comedy of horrors.
