BRAVERY
It was a cloudy, fall day in a busy town called Zephular. And in between two buildings was a little ten-year-old boy who was playing his whistleharp. He sat on the ground cross-legged happily playing an upbeat tune about Anniera. He quietly sang the lyrics because he was nervous of somebody hearing him and every now and then he would look towards the streets to make sure nobody was there. He closed his eyes and let the music flow from his memory to his hands that would play the song. But then in a flash someone snatched the whistleharp from him and he opened his eyes to see where his favorite instrument had gone only to find three twelve-year-old boys standing above him like tall towers. One of them held his whistleharp, so he stood up straight and said, "May you please give that back?"
The three big boys smirked and looked at each other. They were planning something and returning the whistleharp was not part of it. The boy in the middle spoke, "Or what?" The little boy stood there for a few seconds then tried to take the whistleharp from his hands but missed as the bully lifted it up out of reach. He was small for his age which gave the twelve-year-olds the advantage. "Ha look he's too tiny to do anything." The three boys laughed at him which made him angry. But then they started pushing him around and started chanting a name that he hated the most. "Armulyn the Tiny." Armulyn simply despised it and told the three bullies over and over again to not call him that, but they never listened. Once they got bored, they pushed him to the wall and forced him to sit on the ground.
"Hey, Jacon, what should we do with this thing?" One of the boys asked while handing Jacon the whistleharp, who was the leader of their trio.
"I don't know what is this thing anyway?" Jacon asked. The other two boys shrugged.
"I...it's called a whistleharp." Armulyn said.
"Hmmmm, does it sink or float?"
"I don't know."
"Well, let's go find out."
"NO!" Armulyn ran and finally snatched it back and held his whistleharp as tight as he could. Jacon and his friends stared at him a second until Armulyn ran off with the bullies on his tail. He ran out of town into a field where there was a tree standing alone on a hill. That was always Armulyn's safe place. It was a big tree and there were a lot of places to hide except now some leaves started to fall off which made the inside more visible. Armulyn ran with all his might and climbed the tree to very top. Once he got up there, he could see the three bullies running towards the tree.
"Hey Armulyn." A voice came from a branch beside him. Armulyn got so scared that he nearly fell from the tree if it weren't for his brother who reached out and grabbed him. He had four older brothers and four younger sisters. The one that pulled Armulyn was fifteen years old and was the oldest out of all the kids. "Are you okay?"
"Oh, Reinhold, I didn't see you there."
Reinhold laughed, "Obviously. Are you okay?" He asked again.
"HEY ARMULYN, WHY DON'T YOU COME DOWN HERE! WE WANT TO TEST SOMETHING!" The bullies were back.
"Are those your friends?" Reinhold asked.
"More like enemies." Armulyn grumbled. " They want to throw my whistleharp in the water." Armulyn tried not cry. "And they kept on pushing me around and calling me tiny. And...and I don't like it! And they never listen to me because I'm small."
"Hey, you know what I got an idea."
"What is it?"
"You go on down there and tell them to leave you alone or there's gonna be consequences."
"But they don't listen to me."
"Oh, I'm sure they will." He said with a smile. Armulyn hesitated but did what his brother told him to do. Going up the tree was easy for him but going down was harder because of the realization of how high he was. But he did eventually got down causing more leaves to fall with him and stood up to the bullies. "You guys better leave me alone or theirs gonna be consequences!" The boys laughed at him. "What's so funny?!"
"How are we supposed to take you seriously when you have leaves in your hair?"
"It looks like there's a fazzle dove on his head!" The boys laughed harder which made Armulyn angrier.
"YOU THREE BETTER LEAVE ME ALONE OR YOU'RE GOING TO BE IN BIG TROUBLE!" The bullies froze with fear then started to back away slowly and then ran away.
"See I told you; you could do it!" His brother said from the tree. Once Reinhold got onto the ground Armulyn ran into his brother's arms. Little did he know that when Armulyn yelled, Reinhold came into view so that the bullies could see him point at the bullies and smashed his fist into his hand. And the bullies took that as a sign that Armulyn's big brother was the consequence. But Reinhold never told Armulyn so that as he grew Armulyn became braver. He even got brave enough to sing in front of people and maybe insult the Fangs in public.
