Once Found, Now Lost
His rescuer's song ended…softly, beautifully, naturally. And he sighed, holding onto her words, longing for more.
Unexpectedly the girl withdrew her hand from his chest. And the young man couldn't breathe. His limbs were too weak to reach out again for her, despite him willing his body to move. The loss of her touch was a dreadful pain from the inside out to him.
Suddenly her warm presence vanished from his side. And the prince had never felt so cold, so alone. He must open his eyes, to find and reassure her. But he was beginning to drown once more in the darkness.
Please, he wished vainly his silent thoughts into articulated words, you just found me, and I you! Do not leave me.
There was no song…no touch…no warmth. She was gone. And Eric was overwhelmed by heartache.
