Written for the Todomomo Week Day 3 prompt: Teasing
Yaoyorozu announces to the rest of Class 1-A the date of the next scheduled study party led by her and it will be in the dorm's living room. Todoroki didn't attend the first one as he didn't want to change his study habits when the final exam was right around the corner. There's plenty of time until the exam for this one and he's admittedly curious about Yaoyorozu's teaching methods. Seeing as she helped even Kaminari and Ashido pass the first final, she may have some advice to offer him as well.
On the day of, those thoughts become secondary when he sees her in glasses.
Todoroki has two new thoughts that form after seeing this revelation. Number one is he becomes confident that she would look good in anything. Number two, however, causes him to frown.
"Before we begin, we have some new faces." Yaoyorozu glances at not just Todoroki, but also Midoriya and Iida. Todoroki's closest male friends seem to have had the same idea as him as they also didn't attend the first one as far as Todoroki is aware. Though it might just be his imagination, her eyes seem to hover over him a fraction more than the others. "Any questions before we start?"
Both Midoriya and Iida shake their heads while Todoroki raises his hand. "I have one, but it doesn't have to do with the material."
"Um- if that's the case, do you mind waiting until we're on break?"
"Sure."
"Good work, everyone." Yaoyorozu says to everyone after about 90 minutes. "Let's take a fifteen-minute break!"
Everyone except for Todoroki and Yaoyorozu departs to use the bathroom, make snacks, look at their phone elsewhere, and do other activities to recharge.
Yaoyorozu straightens out the stack of papers in front of her and neatly places it on the coffee table. "Todoroki-san! Don't worry, I didn't forget about you. I remember you said you had something you wanted to ask. Ask away."
"I didn't know you needed to wear glasses. Are you going to move closer to the front of the class?"
"Hm? Why would I?"
"You're wearing glasses now. Wouldn't it be easier for you to see if you moved closer to the front?" Todoroki explains. "I'm sure Aizawa-sensei would let you if you asked him. Or have you been wearing contacts the entire time?"
Yaoyorozu's expression changes to one of realization. "Oh, these are non-prescription lenses"
"I've never heard of that term before."
"You're thinking that if people wear glasses, that means their vision needs improvement, correct? And if I don't wear them, I can't see as far or vividly?"
Todoroki nods. "Yeah, that's right. Isn't that how it works?"
"Non-prescription lenses do not correct vision. I have perfect vision based on the eye tests. The ones that do improve vision are called corrective lenses. Those are extremely common, so it's easy to see why you'd be confused." She takes off her glasses and passes them to Todoroki. "Take a look for yourself."
Todoroki's sister, Fuyumi, warned him before to never look through other people's glasses or it could make his own vision worse, but he trusts Yaoyorozu. He puts them on and finds that Yaoyorozu is right as always; the world isn't any clearer with her glasses on than without. "So, as an example, Iida wears corrective lenses?"
Yaoyorozu doesn't answer immediately and looks to be in a daze. "Yaoyorozu?" He asks out of concern.
"Oh, sorry! Yes, you are right. Iida-san does wear corrective lenses."
Todoroki's sister also wears glasses that improve her vision, helping him get a better grasp of the situation. Then, another question forms in his mind. "I'm not sure I understand what's the point in wearing these?" He says as he hands the pair back to her. "Is it for fashion purposes?"
Yaoyorozu nervously coughs before explaining in a much lower volume. "It helps me get into the mood and play the teacher role better…"
Todoroki still doesn't really understand this part. "Do you want me to call you sensei if it helps you?"
Yaoyorozu raises her arms to form a stop signal. "Please don't! I'll be too embarrassed if you did that."
"Okay." Todoroki complies. He says something that's been on his mind for a while. "I will say, you do look good in glasses."
Yaoyorozu blushes. "T-thank you. When you had it on, you also looked… nice."
"Well, I'm glad you won't have to move your seat. I like having you at my side."
"I'm happy, too. I like y- being by your side as well."
"I'm glad you agree with me, Yaoyorozu-sensei."
She playfully swats his arm for that. He considers it worth it.
Meanwhile, in a nearby hallway
Kaminari spent his break time in his room and is walking back to the study area. He stops when he see Ashido hiding from behind the walls of the dorm's living room. "...What're you doing?" He asks Ashido.
"Shh." Ashido puts her index finger to her mouth. "I don't want them to know we're here yet."
Kaminari raises an eyebrow. "What're you talking about?"
Ashido jerks her head towards the living room. "Take a look for yourself."
Kaminari pokes his head to see what's going on. What he sees is Yaoyorozu and Todoroki being extremely flirty with one another. "It looks like our tutor's getting seduced by Todoroki."
"I know! Isn't it great?" Ashido exclaims.
"But won't she give preferential treatment to Todoroki if they get together?" Kaminari points out. "His grades are more than good enough already. What about our grades?"
"Grades are temporary, love is eternal!"
"…I'm pretty sure that's not how it goes." Kaminari sighs. "Actually, isn't the other way around more accurate?"
"Don't sweat the details." Ashido waves him off. "And it's cute, so who cares? She's always extra nice to him anyway. Let's just enjoy the scene until break time's over!"
He rolls his eyes. "Whatever you say."
