GREAT RED: ORIGIN
In the nothingness, they existed. A being born from the void of nothingness, carrying infinite potential and power. They had existed long before the other beings found the spark of creation and used it to begin everything. They would exist long after they were gone. For they were infinite and unrivalled. Absolute and almighty. Ouroboros. Ophis. They stayed in the nothingness that was the void around them, not in a truly tangible form. They simple existed and floated there, existing. Having no purpose beyond themselves.
One day, in that black void, something flickered in the being's vision. It was... Bright? Different to the black void they had always known, that they had been born from. They didn't know how to describe just what they saw, it was... Different. A void, but not a void. Infinite, but not the same infinite. And from that infinite came another being. It took the appearance of a mighty beast in crimson, with massive wings and a matching body, a horn between his eyes and eyes of gold. The new being looked around, as if they could sense the formless one. And so, the formless one stopped being that and took a form.
Mimicking the being they saw, they became a black beast with massive wings, and three horns atop its head, like a crown. "Who are you?" They asked in a blank voice.
The red beast turned to them... And smiled. "Oh, good. I thought I was alone in here, I'm glad that I'm not!" They outstretched their clawed hand. "It's nice to meet you."
Ouroboros stared at the hand and then back to them. "... I am Ouroboros. Ophis. Who are you?"
The being blinked and slowly retracted their hand, scratching at their chin. "Who am I...?" They repeated. "That is a good question... I guess... You can just call me Red."
And though neither beast said it aloud- for neither knew the word- a silent friendship was born. After all, they were infinite and void. Though born different, they were the same. And Ouroboros... Felt a stirring in themselves at that knowledge. They themselves did not know what this strange stirring was, only that it was pleasant.
Ages passed by the two, and there were strong differences. The black dragon preferred the silence, the peace and quiet. While the Red dragon enjoyed sound, colour and noise. It was irritating, but Ouroboros put up with it and allowed it. After all, they were the only two here. Who cared about a bit of noise?
One day, Red left. It was a sudden thing. One moment Red was there, the next he was... gone. Ouroboros didn't know how to react, and so they waited... And waited and waited. Had time always been this long? Time had always seemed to go by so fast before, but now each second felt like an hour. Each minute felt like a day. Had Red done something? Was this another prank?
And then, Red came back, but he was different. He looked... Squishy? His appearance had shrunken down, no longer a dragon. Now a bipedal fleshy being- human, Ouroboros thought it was called- standing there was a proud grin on his face. He told Ouroboros all about the outside world, but they weren't interested. Instead, they copied Red. They shrunk down and took on a human appearance too. But while Red was a young man, Ouroboros was an old one. One being full of life, the other devoid of it. As they should be.
Red began to leave more and more. Sometimes he'd be gone for a little while. Sometimes he'd be gone longer. But no matter what, the days would drag on when he was gone. It stirred a feeling in Ouroboros' chest. An unpleasant feeling. And so, one day, Ouroboros left to see what the fuss was about... And immediately, they were assaulted by noise. For a being who had lived in the void all their life, the very noise that came with the existence of life was far too much for them to handle. And so, they ended up going on a rampage and destroying.
Red found them and quickly took them home to calm them down. Ouroboros was afraid of the noise, and pleaded with Red to never leave again. To stay with them in the void forever, where they would be safe from the noise.
Red was concerned, but promised to stay. The pain in Ouroboros' chest faded. They and Red would stay together. All was well.
... Red broke his promise. Ouroboros didn't know how, but he escaped their senses, leaving behind a duplicate and going out into the human world. Ouroboros felt... Betrayed. Angry. Hurt. When Red returned, they confronted them. They argued, they fought... And Ouroboros lost. Ouroboros left the void in disgrace and defeat... And so, it took on a new form. The form of the old man was now tainted and reminded Ouroboros of a past they... She no longer wanted to cling to. And so, they took on a new form... The form of a little girl with long black hair, who had one desire in her mind.
"I will reclaim silence." She would defeat Red, and she would reclaim the silence she had lost... The silence of the two of them staying together, never to leave again.
Red stared out at the world with a sad look on his face... He hadn't meant to hurt Ouroboros so badly in their fight, he hoped they were okay... And he hoped they came back soon. Sure, he may go out every so often... But this was their home. This was the place they met and became friends. He wanted to apologise for lying, and to tell them everything.
It was the love story between Infinity and a Dream... The Infinite desired to stay with the Dream away from reality, while the Dream desired to show the Infinite the beauty of life.
"One day-"
"One day-"
"I'll show them that I only want us to be happy."
