"But you do realize that you have messed up big time this time, right, Ranchan?"
Ranma's happy face instantly wiped out as he recalled all his mistakes. He slapped his forehead in frustration as he leaned back on the sofa and rested his head over the head of the sofa. He sighs defeatedly and whispered,
"Damn, Ucchan! What have I done! I should have asked ya about this at the very beginning!"
Ukyo shook her head and said,
"Yes! You should have done that, Sugar! But you hadn't and now you are looking like a complete baka!"
"You are right, I AM a complete pathetic baka!"
"Oh Ranchan, now don't be too harsh on yourself!" Ukyo said while giggling and patting his hand.
Ranma gave a big breath and helplessly looked at her and said,
"You don't understand, Ucchan, I don't have any idea how I am going to approach Akane anymore! She tried to talk to me again and again and what I did; I ignored her!! Damn it! She asked me so many times if she had done anything wrong; but I neglected her all the time.."
Ukyo sighed and said,
"Hmm, I did notice that, honey. I also saw her passing so many notes to you during the class yesterday. But you gave her only one note and she became quiet after that..Anyway, what did you write to her?"
At the mention of that incident he became even more miserable, he flinched and said in a defeated tone,
"She was trying to start a conversation with me, and asked me if I was free after class; but I said ... I said I have other things to do.. God!! What have I done!!"
"You really said that to her! The girl of your dreams!!" Ryoga asked in disbelief.
Ranma frowned at him and said in a harsh tone,
"I was FRUSTRATED, alright!? I wasn't thinking about what I was doing!"
"You are screwed up, man! If I were her I wouldn't even see yar face anymore, Ranma!" Ryoga said while shaking his head in disappointment.
His words made Ranma feel more terrible than before, his aura became so depressed that Ukyo could actually feel it coming out of his body.
"Now, now, now; calm down, sugar! I don't understand why you are taking his opinion so seriously, Ranchan! Don't listen to him,please.."
"Truth always hurts, huh!" Ryoga said arrogantly.
Ukyo growled and sent him a heated look,
"Keep quiet, Ryoga Hibiki!"
"It's ok, Ucchan! He is right, She won't forgive me this time! I even doubt that she would want to see me again.."
"Oh phh.. lease, Ranchan!!! Stop overreacting!! This is nothing serious!"
"Nothing serious! How could ya say that, Ucchan!"
"I could say that because this is nothing but a clear MISUNDERSTANDING!! That's it! It's not a big deal at all! The way you are acting is as if you have committed a huge crime! Things happen, Ranchan! Take it easy please!" Ukyo said, sighing tiredly.
"But how am I gonna solve this matter if she stops speaking with me?" Ranma asked , imapitencely.
"Who said that she won't want to talk to you?" Ukyo argued angrily.
Ranma tried to argue more , but he couldn't find any more points to tell her. Seeing his helpless state, Ukyo said in a calming tone,
"That's the reason why I always tell you to calm down; because when you are depressed, you can't think properly!" She smiled at him and held his hand for comfort. He looked at her for answers as he asked her,
"What should I do then, Ucchan?"
She smiled and replied,
"Well, you can talk to her about this on Monday.."
He whined impatiently and said,
"You gotta be kidding me, Ucchan; that means I have to wait for two more days! I can't wait that long! I will go completely insane!"
"Is there anything left to become more insane than this, Ranchan!!" Ukyo said, shaking her head.
Ryoga laughed upon hearing this, Ranma didn't care about him as he went to his knees and sat in front of her and asked her in an urgent tone,
"I know you have her phone number, Ucchan. Please can you.."
"No way, sugar! You want it, then you have to earn it. She doesn't give her number to anyone she doesn't trust..! Anyway, I have promised to both of them that I won't give it to anyone, so don't even think about asking me!"
"Please Ucchan, please, please .. I promise I won't tell them that you gave me their number!"
"Ranchan!! I have already broken one promise when I told you about their relationship status! Sorry honey, I can't break any more promises! You have to wait until Monday, I am sorry.."
Ranma gave her a puppy dog eyes look, she understood what he was up to. She quickly turned her face from him and tried her best to ignore him, but unfortunately she couldn't avoid his intense stare for too long. She moaned defeatedly and looked back at him while pouting. He instantly gave her a wide victorious smile as she playfully whacked him on his shoulder and said in a warning tone,
"Ranchan, I am warning you, if you tell her about this.."
"I swear on Ryoga, I won't tell her anything!!" Ranma said with a big grin, making Ukyo lose her anger as she couldn't stop but laugh at his sense of humour.
Ryoga stood up in a haste as he cried out in panic,
"Hey!! Take it back, take it back!! I Don't trust him, he will definitely break his promise!! I DON'T TRUST THIS MAN!! HE WANTS TO KILL ME WITH HIS FAKE PROMISES!!" Ryoga protested in a panicked tone.
"Oh calm down, Ryoga! Ranchan, now that you have sworn on him, I have full faith in you!" She giggled and added, "Don't worry, tomorrow morning I will give you her number.."
"T-tommorow?" Ranma asked in a disappointed tone as his face faulted immediately.
Ukyo sighed and checked her wristwatch first then showed it to him,
"It's eight in the night! I can't call her now!!"
"But.." Ranma tried to say but he got interrupted by a frantic Ryoga.
"Jeez, it's eight already!! I am late! Damn it!!"
Ryoga started running towards his room, but before he could enter Ukyo called out to him in a surprised tone,
"Where are you going at this hour, Ryoga!"
Ryoga stopped at the door side and said while turning to her,
"Oh it's a male thing, ya won't like to hear it.." he smirked saying that and turned towards Ranma, "Hey buddy, are ya sure ya don't wanna join me?"
Ranma shrugged him off and dismissed talking with him and saw him closing his door with a loud smack.
"That damn Idiot!" Ranma muttered to himself and went to the dining table which was in the corner of that big living area. He took out his glass and poured some water for himself and drank that all in a single gulp.
"Ranchan, were you planning to go with him? Did you change your plan because of me?"
"No way! You know I don't like to go places like that!"
"Where is he going anyways!" Ukyo said while joining him in the dining area as she sat down on one chair and drank some water herself.
"Where else?" He pulled out one chair for himself and said, "To a fancy pub; to drink until he faints! I don't even understand why he drinks so much if he can't handle himself!"
Ukyo shook her head and said,
"He is really taking advantage of this situation and spending a lot of money! Anyway, just forget about that pervert and tell me honestly, why does it matter to you whether Akio and Akane are engaged or not? Why did you get so angry about it?! You wanted to become friends with her , right? So this should never matter in the first place!" She finished and looked at him with a suspicious grin over her face, expecting him to answer her correctly.
Ranma puts his elbow over the table and looked down at his hand with a distant expression on his face as he said,
"I don't know, Ucchan! You are right, I have been acting insanely for the past few days! At first It was really hard for me to digest the reality that the girl I always dreamed of is now a part of my journey. Then the way things started to happen; like, the way she supported me, helped me, and even accepted my friendship despite knowing that I am not rich like others, her accepting me the way I am is too fascinating to me! Trust me Ucchan, when Ryoga told her that I work for him I thought she would think less of me and wouldn't want to be friends with me anymore! But she didn't even think once and stood up for me and became my friend! I have never met any girl like her before! She is just too perfect!! How many times did Ryoga try to bribe her with how rich he is! But did you notice how she always ignores him!!"
Ukyo laughed at that and added,
"He is not the only one who tried to impress her like that, Ranchan, and she had refused so many of them.."
"But why she does that?" Ranma asked her, confused.
"I don't know; come to think of it, I never asked her about it! Maybe she is way too prideful and doesn't want to depend on anyone.."
Ranma smiled at that and nodded,
"That's another reason why I am so obsessed with her, Ucchan! She seems so different from others! So simple, but so mysterious at the same time. I want to know more about her! I want to be more than just friends with her.."
Ukyo's worriedly looked at him and asked him,
"Ranchan, you guys can't just be more than friends ! What about Nodoka Obasama? She won't let it happen..!"
Ranma gives her a serious expression and said,
"I have already thought about that matter.. My Mother once told me that if I were capable enough and took my role in my family business seriously, she wouldn't have to think about arranging a marriage between me and Shampoo!"
"So that means…." Ukyo asked as she hopefully looked up at him.
He smiled at her confidently and said,
"That means if I start to take my education seriously and concentrate hard on learning this business; I can show my parents that they can count on me and we don't need Shampoo's family to help us in our business.."
"HA— HA— HA!! Very funny!" Suddenly Ryoga re-entered the scene and said in a mocking tone, "Count on Ranma Saotome to run the business! Ya got to be kidding with me, Pal!"
Ranma frowned at him, but before he could say anything to him, Ukyo spoke up first,
"Why don't you just leave us alone, Ryoga! And to answer your question then listen, OF COURSE he can do it!! All he has to do is study, that's it!"
"Oh! So now he is going to study, huh!" Ryoga said, laughing hard.
"YES! He will study and I am going to help him with it!"
"Ucchan…" Ranma whispered with a fascinating tone.
Ukyo smiled at him and held his hand and said,
"There is nothing a human can't do if they set their mind on it, sugar! And I promise I am going to help you with your studies, so that you can achieve what you really wish for, Ranchan.."
Ranma warmly smiled at her and held her hand tightly and said with appreciation,
"Oh Ucchan, you are a lifesaver!! I owe you my life for this!"
"Eww.. you guys are acting so petheticly!"
Both of them growled in annoyance and turned to give him a heated stare as Ranma said,
"Why don't ya just leave, man!"
"Ya.. you're right! I should leave before your contiguous emotions caught me too! Anyway , I don't even understand why you don't want to marry Shampoo in the first place! I mean yes, she is in a relationship with multiple guys and I know how demanding she is, but still you should never consider not marrying her, Ranma!"
Ranma frowned at him and asked him irritatedly,
"Just give me one valid reason why I should consider marrying her!"
"Well.. that's easy! She belongs to a rich family!!" Ryoga said while shrugging his shoulders and saw both of them slapping their forehead in frustration. He quickly checked his time again and said, "Oh no! I am too late now! I have to run.. See ya guys tomorrow.. I hope I ain't coming back tonight!"
"DON'T RUSH BACK HOME!!"
Ukyo called out to him as he rushed outside and closed the main door.
"Seriously Ranchan, I don't understand how you handle this guy!!"
He grimaced and said,
"Believe me, it's not easy..Anyway, forget about him! Shall we start now?"
"Now! You want to study now!"
"Why not!"
"But…!!"
"Please Ucchan, I don't want to waste my time anymore!"
Ukyo giggled hearing that and said,
"As you wish, honey! So where should we start then?"
One hour later …..
"Ranchan!!! This is not the way you are supposed to do it!!" Ukyo snapped at him angrily.
"Then what, Ucchan!!" He snapped back at her, feeling equally frustrated, "We have been stuck at this same problem for an hour now! How are we going to make it work when we can't even solve one simple problem!"
"I don't know!!" She said while moaning as she started to softly bang her forehead over the table, "Aww; I shouldn't have agreed to your plan.."
Ranma huffed in annoyance, his hands slumped by his sides as he said in a defeated tone,
"Damn it; this is going nowhere! But... I can't give up now!"
Ukyo looked at him and pouted at him and said,
"But do you understand if you take help from me your grades might get worse then it already is!!"
Ranma couldn't help but laugh in disbelief as he shook his head. He decided to give her some encouraging words; but suddenly their front door burst opened as a frantic Ryoga entered the house, panting hard, acting weird as always.
Ukyo and Ranma exchanged looks with each other and got completely confused by his sudden appearance. But before they could ask him about his sudden arrival, Ryoga looked up at them, his eyes wide, expression insane, a wide mystical smile on his face as said in a mocking hard tone,
"SHE IS SO SIMMMMPLE!! SO BEAUTIFULLLL!! SO PRIDEFUL!! SO INNOCENT!! I WANT TO BE MORE THAN FRIENDS!! BLAH… BLAH…BLAH..HAH! HAH! HAH!!"
It didn't take long for Ranma to understand who Ryoga was talking about. He growled in annoyance as he asked him,
"What is wrong with ya? Have ya drink a expired liquor or something!"
Ukyo laughed and said,
"That's right! This guy, My God!! sometimes I wonder how you tolerate his insanity !!"
"Not my choice.." Ranma replied grimincing.
In reply to their complaints, Ryoga started laughing hard like a maniac. Ranma had enough of his madness, he stood up angrily and said,
"I am not in the mood for your filthy jokes, Ryoga! SPAT OUT what ya want to say!!"
Ryoga stopped laughing and looked at him hard and said,
"She is not like other girls!! What did ya say Ranma, that ya haven't seen any girl like her!! THEN LET ME TELL YA, RANMA; ya are right about this! Ya have never seen a two faced girl like her before!!"
"STOP IT, YOU!!"
Ranma angrily approached him, but Ukyo stopped him by pulling his arm as she also stood up by his side. Then she said to Ryoga as she angrily glared up at him,
"Are you annoying him on purpose, Ryoga! Can't you see you are making him angry!"
"I am trying to save him from a fake fantasy here!"
Ranma couldn't resist anymore, he pulled his hand from Ukyo's grasp and grabbed Ryoga's collars tightly as he said in a deadly serious tone,
"If ya utter one more bad word about Akane then.."
Ryoga smirked at him and said,
"She is a liar, Ranma! And you would soon find out the real truth about her. Now; if ya really want me ta show ya what I really saw, then ya have to come with me.."
Ranma growled and released his collar as he said in a serious tone,
"And if ya are lying then.."
"And if I am not lying then..?"
Ranma became completely speechless.. He heatedly looked at him, his heart pounding hard in desperation .. He took a deep breath to calm his breathing, then looking at him he said,
"Don't waste my time, Ryoga! And don't ya dare try to play with my emotions this time.."
