Chapter 7: New friends

Red eyes peeked past their heavy eyelids, as the killer listened to her surroundings. Everything sounded so muffled and fuzzy, she couldn't make out who was talking. Her eyes weren't helping either as the blurred figures swayed in her direction. 'Which one is Dekumaru?' She asked her senses, trying to understand the situation. She went to move her arm, but felt a pulse of pain shooting up her spine. "Shit." She mumbled under her breath.

"D-Dont-t try to m-move, Ms. Fukawa!" A gentle skittish girl whined as she held the injured arm at the shoulder. "Syo? Are you awake?" Komaru jumped up and leaned in closer, making it easier for Syo to focus. "Dekumaru~ " She breathed. She attempted to sit up, even with the other girl's weak attempts to push her back down. "Ms. Fukawa! Please lay down and rest! Y-your arm was just stitched up!" The ragged looking nurse panicked when Syo completely ignored her, and stood up. She looked Komaru over and pulled her closer. "Are you hurt?" Syo asked, ignoring the pain from her arm. "No, you and Toko would never let that happen." Komaru purred as she nuzzled the killer's neck. "That's good to hear. So what happened? I have a head rush~ Ahah! Ouch!" Syo's laugh made her brain fight back, a twinge of a headache started to hit her all at once. "Syo? Try to stay calm alright? You've lost a lot of blood." Komaru lowered Syo back onto the bed, but continued to hold onto the embrace.

"Here, this might help." The nurse took out a few pills and held them out along with a bottle of water. "What is it doc?" Syo smirked as she watched the nurse shudder nervously. "An Iron supplement for the lost blood, and a couple of pain killers."

"Alright doc." Syo smirked as she lifted her injured arm to reach it. "D-Don't stress out your arm like that!" The nurse ordered as she backed away. "It's alright, I got it." Komaru took the medicine and held it to Syo's lips. "You trust her?" Syo asked. "If she was going to kill you, she wouldn't have stitched up your arm." Komaru smiled softly as she felt Syo's lips brush against her fingers.

Syo relaxed as Komaru sat beside her, holding her hand. "So we let ourselves get hit? Toko needs quicker reflexes If that's the case." Syo refrained from laughing, as she spoke. "You're so lucky you were at the docks. I was able to stitch you up before you lost too much blood." The Nurse chimed in. "Lucky Hu? What brings you to Towa in the first place?" Syo asked curiously. "Oh? Um... My name is Mikan Tsumiki, and I was traveling with my friends to this Island to help rebuild."

"You're here to help too Mikan?" Komaru's eyes lit up as they stared to talk, making Syo irritable for some reason. "Y-yes... I'm really bad at manual labor, but I can treat injuries and fatigue."

"That's wonderful!" Komaru chimed. Syo took Komaru's hand and kissed the knuckles, making both girls in her presence start to blush. "Syo?" Komaru questioned, as the killer continued to kiss up her arm. "Just so we're clear, Komaru is mine." Syo smirked as Mikan looked away shyly. "Are you jealous?" Komaru chuckled as Syo looked up with big puppy dog eyes. "So what if I am?" Syo grumbled. "I'm just making friends Syo. You're my girlfriend, and I don't plan on replacing you. Better?"

"Much better." Syo locked her fingers with Komaru's and relaxed as the three continued to talk.

"Can you move your fingers? Gently please." Mikan asked, twitching as Syo eyed her. "Does it hurt?" Komaru asked, getting Syo to show off. "Of course I can move my fingers, see." Syo held a grunt as she wiggled them. "That's good. You should heal rather quickly, as long as you don't pop a stitch." Mikan packed her first aid kit and began making her way out the door, she turned to talk with Komaru. "Here is some more dressings and pain killers. I would change the bandages in three days to a week, and make sure to keep the cuts clean." She ordered before touching the handle. "Thanks Doc. I owe you one." Syo chuckled with a wave. "Will we see you again Mikan?" Komaru asked kindly. "Oh, I think we'll run into each other again. Hopefully under better circumstances." She answered sweetly.

After the nurse left, Komaru continued to sit by her love's side. "You must be starving. Would you like me to go get you something?" She asked. Syo put her fine hand on her stomach, "Shit, you're right. Have I eaten today?" Syo's brow lifting as a chuckle slipped out. "Mokoto is making some lunch, will you eat with me Syo? Or would you rather switch? Whatever you decide I'll support."

"Mm? I guess I can eat with my favorite girl. Toko definitely deserves a good break, she took this pain when it was fresh." Syo chuckled as Komaru stood. "Alright, don't go changing on me. I'll be right back."

"Don't keep me waiting too long baby ~ "

Instantly, Syo got board. She touched her injury, making pain pulse up her spine. "Better us then Komaru." She breathed happily, jumping as the door reopened. Komaru huffed as she balanced two bentos with her arm. "Well that was quick. Did you run?" Syo chuckled. "No? The kitchen isn't that far you know, also it helped that Makoto was already on his way here with these. A chef was with Mikan when they landed! I'm so excited! I haven't had some decent food since, well before all this." Komaru rambled as she popped the tops off. The smell of honey and pork filled the room, making both girls drool. "Oh wow~ That smells heavenly!" Syo reached for the box enthusiastically. Komaru handed it to her happily, making sure she had a good grip before letting go. Syo chuckled, before staring at the fresh pack of chopsticks. 'Shit...' she thought, biting her lip. "Syo, are you right handed?"

"Is that so strange? Well clearly I can use both... but eating is normally a right handed task." Syo did her best to hold the sticks but they kept slipping unevenly. "Here. I got this." Komaru climbed up onto the bed and straddled Syo's legs together. "Wowowo~ I was promised food, not a fun time~"

"Silly Syo, I'm gonna feed you. So hold still." Komaru smiled as she picked up a piece of the honey roasted ham, and held it to Syo's lips. "Don't worry, I won't let you starve." She teased. Syo bit into it ravenously, using her now free hand to hold Komaru's hip. Back and forth Komaru fed Syo and herself.

The ham and vegetables were easy, the rice was a bit harder. Some of it got on the blankets and even Syo's hair. "I'm so sorry! I don't even know how that... Mm?!" Komaru shut up as Syo kissed her in 'thanks'. "Don't worry about it."

"But Syo, you know Toko won't wanna bathe."

"I'll just brush it out... or maybe I should finally cut this mess."

Komaru's eyes filled with panic, "No! Please don't cut your beautiful hair! I'll get it, don't be rash."

Syo watched as Komaru plucked the pieces of rice in amusement. "You like my hair that much?"

"I've never seen hair this long before. Have you ever gotten a haircut?"

"Neh, my moms didn't really care. Why spend time and money on an ungrateful insect like me..."

"Syo!? Don't say that. I love your hair, but if you want to cut it... I won't stop you."

Syo tilted her head in confusion, "That's just how I felt... but It makes me happy that you care. I won't cut it, it's amusing to watch you pick through it like a monkey."

"Syo!"

The killer used her good arm to grab onto Komaru's wrist, pulling it down for a soft loving kiss. "My princess." She cooed, making Komaru pause is embarrassment. "S-So... A-am I a princess or a monkey?"

"Mmm~ princess."

Komaru didn't resist as she was being pulled in. She rested on Syo's shoulder as the killer cuddled closely. "My monkey princess."

"Syo!"

"Ahhhahaha!"

Shivers shook the covers like an earthquake. Alone in the cold dark room, Toko shuddered. The pain in her right arm wasn't helping in her torment. "Omaru?" She called timidly, pulling at her own hair. She slipped from under the cover's and shuffled her feet on the cold floor. "Omaru?" She called again, feeling her way with sharp pains pushing her to go faster. Finally, she reached the doorknob.

Slowly, she timidly tiptoed down the hall. She paused when she heard Komaru laugh. Quietly she peered around the corner to the lobby. A spread of food lined a table, with about 15 new faces mixed in with her own friends and Komaru. Her anxiety rose as she watched Komaru eat and laugh with some of the others. 'Is she sick of me?' She thought sadly, but quickly shook her head. Then she noticed what she was wearing, a flawless light purple pair of pajamas that reached down to her feet and the sleeves covered her arms loosely. "Why are they so big?" Toko grumbled as she quietly slinked back into the hall. She drug her feet across the floor, watching the long pants bunch at her ankles.

"Hey there! I knew I sensed someone new." A bubbly gruff voice sounded like it bounced towards Toko. The writer turned and watched timidity as the colorful girl practically skipped her way. "Who are you?" Toko sneered. "Ohohohoh? I'm Ibuki Mioda! Nice to meet cha!" She held out her hand for a shake. "Ibuki? What kind of name is that?"

"Ouch! Right in the heart! I'm the ultimate musician. And you're name?" She asked happily, pulling her hand back. "I'm... Toko... Fukawa. I'm the ultimate writer."

"Oooo~ A writer! Like books or music?"

"Novels... sorry to disappoint."

"No! Not disappointing in any way! Book are like hella cool."

Toko chuckled and held out her hand. "Nice to meet you Ibuki."

The girl took it and shook it wildly, not noticing the pain in Toko's face. "Nice to meet you too Toko!"

"Ibuki! Her arm is still healing! Be gentle!" A soft voice rushed forward. "Oh ya! I'm sorry! Was I too rough?" Ibuki slowly stepped back and let Mikan check the stitches, much to Toko's distress. "And you are?" Toko hissed as her stitches were prodded by the nurse. "Don't you remember? I'm Mikan... I mended your arm. Have you taken your medicine yet?"

"Medicine?"

"Goodness! I must not have checked you properly! Is your head alright?"

"My head is fine. Is yours?" Toko spat angrily. "Ibuki, can you go back and get Komaru?"

"Sure thing darling ~" Ibuki chimed as she started to skip back to the lobby, but suddenly she stopped and called back, "The short haired girl with a brother, yes?"

"Yes sweetheart, don't get distracted!" Mikan shouted happily. "So a musician and a nurse? That's new." Toko smirked, "Normally it's a nurse and a doctor or patient. Oh, was she a patient of yours?" Toko questioned being cheeky.

"Hu? No... we were in the same class."

"Aa, school sweethearts. Got it."

"And you and Komaru? You did say she was your girlfriend right?"

"Hu? Ya. You must have talked to Syo then."

"Komaru did call you that."

"I have Dissociative Identity Disorder. That's why I don't remember you." Toko explained, hoping the nurse would understand without further explanation.

"Oh! So that's why... I..."

"Toko! I'm so sorry, was the room too dark?" Komaru rushed past Mikan and quickly took Toko's hands. "A bit... ya... but it's alright. I came to check on you." Toko looked to the side with a light blush dusting her cheeks. "Aw~ in your new cute pajamas too." Komaru chuckled, tugging on the loose fabric. "Did you choose these? They are too big!"

"it's not my fault they are too big! It's not like we have an ultimate designer. It was cute and a nice color. So what if it's baggy?"

Toko smiled as she watched her girlfriend rant. She wasn't really unhappy with the new set of clothes. In fact they are good at keeping her body heat in. She finally learned in and nuzzled the ranting girl's neck, shutting her up. "I like them." She mumbled, making Komaru smile.

Uncomfortably Toko scooted closer to Komaru as she watched the strangers stand around and talk. "I can just go back to the room." Toko stood up but stopped when she felt Komaru's warm hands hold onto her wrist. "Are you sure Toki? It's been awhile sense we've made some new friends."

"We? Mmm... Fine." She plopped back down, joining arms with her girlfriend. "Let's talk." Komaru smiled as she rubbed her thumb across Toko's hand.

"About what?"

"Anything really. Like... After the city is cleared, what would you like to do?"

"Me? What about you? You can't just expect me to make all your decision."

Komaru smiled as she leaned In slowly. "Well... you write novels, and I want to start practicing my manga skills... So what if we put together a shop?"

Toko's eyes widened. "A shop?! Like a bookstore?"

"Well yeah! We're not the only ones who like to read you know."

"So you want me to make you a profit?" Toko smirked playfully.

"No, I want us to make a profit with things we like to do."

A dust of red tinted Toko's cheeks as her eyes wondered in her thoughts. The thought of working with Komaru in a bookstore made her heart leap, but not for every day tasks. Being pushed against a shelf by Komaru, with the musty smell of books made her mouth water.

"Toko, whatever you're imagining, please stop. You're drooling."

"S...Sorry! I was just thinking about the shop. I like that idea. I love the smell of books."

"The smell of books uh? I can't believe you would drool over some books." Komaru smirked.

"Of course I wasn't fantasizing just about books! Maybe... I just like... the thought of you... next to me."

After jumping in shock, Komaru laid her head on Toko's, nuzzling into her messy hair. "You were thinking of me? Not Togami?"

"Togami?! Why would I...? Oh... I haven't thought about him in a while. You're... the only one I think about... do you not believe me?"

Lips connected as the two relax into the sofa, not noticing eye's staring at them. "Whoa! You two are really going at it." A tall girl with medium brown hair and a mouth full of meat walked up to them in amazement. "J...just kill me now!" Toko stuttered as she buried her face into her hands. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself." Komaru laughed nervously. "Don't worry about it, I've seen worse. But I would be careful, some of my guy friends might start drooling." The girl pointed at a short man over by the makeshift kitchen who seemed to be looking their direction. "He's the worst flirt. Boy, Girl, doesn't matter to him."

"Thanks... Akane was it?" Komaru asked as her arm pulled Toko closer by the waist. "Yep, and You're Ko... Kim...?"

"Komaru."

Toko lowered her hands as she watched the two girls talk.

"Sorry, I'm bad with names." Akane chuckled as she continued to eat. Even though Toko was getting annoyed with the busty girl pigging out in front of her, she kept her mouth shut as she rested on Komaru's shoulder.

"Achoo!!!" Toko sneezed out of nowhere, jumping up from the sofa. Syo's red eyes scanned her surroundings. Komaru eyed her with a silent, 'Down girl', and Akane didn't seem phased as she continued to chow down. "Bless you." A girl with long blond hair walked her way, and a boy with pink hair that was following close behind. "Ah, I don't need it... but thanks I guess." Syo scratched her head in confusion. "Hello there." Komaru added as she stood. "Ya, hi..." Syo grumbled as Komaru took her hand happily. "I'm Makoto's sister Komaru, and this is my girlfriend Toko Fukawa."

"Nice to meet you both. I'm Sonia Nevermind, and this is my friend Kazuichi Soda." Sonia gestured to the boy who flinched at the word friend. "Come on Sonia, you know I like you more then..." Kazuichi flinched when she shot him a glare. "You smell funny." Syo sniffed, looking at the girl closely. She grunted when Komaru nudged her hard in the side. "That's rude Syo! And don't eye her like that!"

Syo smirked, "Is that jealousy I'm sensing? Komaru honey ~ you're the only one who can handle me."

"Syo?" Sonia mumbled as she placed her hand on her chin. She had sworn she's heard that name before. She eyed the two girls who continued to argue. She couldn't tell what body type Toko had under her pajamas, so she stepped up and cleared her voice. "Excuse me, you're the one with the hurt arm yes? May I see?" Sonia asked cleverly. Syo fell silent and looked at Komaru for approval. "That's an odd request." Komaru added, holding onto Syo gently.

"I just wanted to see how bad it was. The way it looked before was quite terrifying." Sonia explained, hiding her true intentions.

"Only if Dekumaru doesn't mind. I don't care either way." Syo said disinterested. "I suppose that's fine, may I?" Komaru held out her arms and Syo held out her injured one. Komaru gently rolled back the sleeve to reveal a muscular arm with stitches holding together a large slash wound. Sonia gasped, for if she were a fragile woman like herself, Toko would have probably lost that arm. "You're lucky! But it's too bad it will leave a nasty scar." Sonia felt genuine sympathy as her mind continued to think where she had heard 'Syo' before. "Oh? This doesn't bother me. I have plenty of scars, but this one is something special. This one is something we can be proud of."

"Proud of?" Both Sonia and Komaru asked in unison.

"Well yeah. This is the first time we actually protected someone, instead of killing them." Syo boasted proudly.

Komaru's cheeks reddened as her hands fiddled with the purple sleeve. "Thank you Syo, but you really shouldn't tell people you're a killer. It will frighten them."

Then it clicked in Sonia's head. "Syo? Genocider Syo?" Sonia let out a terrifying scream, getting everyone's attention. Syo herself took a step back, holding onto Komaru. She was surprised to see Sonia's eyes sparkle in excitement. "Oh my gosh! Are you really THE Genocider Syo!" She bounced on her toes happily. Syo smiled and reached for her scissors, but they weren't there making her a bit uneasy, "So what if I was? I don't kill anymore, even if I do crave it sometimes." Komaru hummed in discomfort as Sonia got closer. "So the man killer was a woman after all! Please tell me what your motives were!"

"Whoa there lady, why should I tell you? My girl isn't comfortable with that subject." Syo sneered.

"Oh Komaru, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to upset you." Sonia's sweet smile made Komaru relax a bit. "Syo, why did you kill? I don't think you ever told me." Komaru added to Sonia's excitement as they both looked over at Syo, who sighed. "I killed boys I found pretty, nothing less nothing more. They just looked better in red. Ahahaha!" As Syo cackled Komaru looked away and asked, "Then why not Togami?"

"Hu?" Syo's laughter halted at the mention. "Because Toko liked him. I can't go against my emotions. That's why I can't hurt you either Komaru, I love ya too much."

A flush of pink crept into Komaru's cheeks, "I love you two too Syo."

A click sounded as Komaru turned the bolt on their room's door. "Phew~ All those people made me jittery!" Syo hugged herself tightly as she plopped onto the bed, Komaru hurriedly to her side. "Be careful Syo!"

"Ahahaha! Why you so worried honey? I feel much better! Mmmmmmmmm~ but if you want to take a look~" Syo hummed as she unbuttoned her top. "I d-don't need to look!" Komaru pouted before looking at the marks with a heavy heart. "Toko..." she breathed, her fingers brushed the tender skin. She leaned over, kissing it gently. Syo leaned back, allowing herself to relax. "My lips are feeling a bit left out. Mind sharing the kisses?" She smiled cheekily, pleased when her request was being fulfilled. A small peck was placed, making her craving more. "Hey now Dekumaru~ Don't tease me."

"Syo, I've been wanting to ask Toko something but I don't think she'll answer."

"Well hurry up and ask! You're constant babbling turns me off."

An instant ping of regret hit Syo like a truck as Komaru slid off the bed, crossed her arms, and walked away. "Wait! I'm sorry! I have so much pent up energy it's driving me crazy! Komaru, Sweetie, I didn't mean it! Please ask, I'll answer all your questions, just forgive me."

Komaru turned with a soft smile and walked back over, greeted with a warm hug around her midsection. "Go ahead, I'll answer if I can." Syo snuggled closer. "Those makings on your leg. Where did you get those?"

"Uh? Oh, my tally marks? I put them there."

"What?! Why?"

Syo could hear Komaru's heart beat quicken. "Don't worry about it. They keep up with my kills. I haven't added any since I started high school."

"No wonder Toko doesn't like them!"

"Well her guilt is what drove me to do it! I wouldn't have done it on my own accord. Even if she doesn't like them it allows her to act like everything is justified."

Syo was surprised when Komaru dropped to her knees. "Off." She tugged at the pajamas making her smirk. "Oh? Yes Ma'am!" She complied, allowing Komaru to look at the markings.

"What are you doing?" Syo continued to smirk.

"Making a note."

"Why? Does it bother you?"

"I don't want this number to increase. Promise me you won't kill anymore, unless it's self defense."

"Mm~ What do I get if I do?" She asked smugly.

"Fine, If you promise I'll stay by your side. Always."

"That does sound good~ but why do you care? Would you love me any less?"

"Well you only kill pretty boys, right?"

"Yes? You're point?" She tilted her head in confusion.

"If you love me, then why would you think boys are pretty?"

Syo paused for a moment before bursting into a fit of laughter. It took her a moment to calm down and wrap her arms around her lover's neck. "Alright. I promise to not kill for my own self interest. I will only kill to protect you and myself, is that what you wanted to hear?"

Komaru smiled, holding out a pinky. "I can live with that condition."

Syo hooked their pinkies together. "That was clever. Toko has been rubbing off on you in more ways then one. Now can we get started? My body is begging for attention."

"Yes Dear~ you've been very patient." Komaru forcefully connected their lips as she tugged the black panties off Syo's hips. "I love you Komaru Naegi."

"I love you too Toko Fukawa."
