Well, I'm literally blown away by the news D: Paw Patrol: "All Paws on deck" upcoming episode is proving to be quite similar to what I have in mind for this story xD Well, kudos to the creators, Keith Chapman and Spin Master, for coming up with this amazing idea that I hope leaves the audience satisfied.
Now, onto the story : )
It was a little past midnight when the pups and the only kitty of the team arrived at the lookout. All four of them bore exhausted faces after the long day each of them had been through, especially for both Chase and Marshall who, as expected, fell asleep the moment they stepped on the base. As for Wildcat and Al, the two still strove to stay awake a bit longer in order to make all necessary preparations before sunrise.
-"Yawn, how you holding up, Al?" asked the young feline, groggily, while looking at the Basset Hound working on the damaged motorcycle.
Al paused for a moment and slightly turned his head to the side, where Wildcat was standing. At first, he tried to response to the stunt kitty, but the words came as loud inconsistent mumbles since he was still holding a wrench on his muzzle.
-"Haha! Sorry, Al. Can you repeat that?" asked the young feline, genuinely entertained by the pup's ventriloquist performance. After realizing this, the Basset Hound rolled his eyes at his own clumsiness before placing the metallic tool on the floor.
-"Sorry. I said that, for the most part, fixing and replacing the broken parts will be easy. But I fear the engine, transmission and boosters might have taken the heavy blow during the crash. Can't say I'll have it fully operated by tomorrow morning".
-"Sigh, I imagined you'd say that. It probably happened when it hit the drain channel that sent it tumbling off the road" he explained to Al a little disheartened by the damage state of his treasured vehicle.
It was around half a year ago, when he visited Adventure Bay for the first time, a normal stunt show on his tour that ended up in a high-speed chase with the reckless Ruff-Ruff pack and their mischievous deeds around the city. An unpredicted occurrence in fact, which led him befriend a group of really amazing friends who considered him an equal, and that very same bike he was so attached to was the symbol of that friendship he so much valued.
-"How are Chase and Marshall?" asked Al, which made Wildcat snap back to reality.
-"O-Oh! They're fine. I let them sleep soundly in the lobby. Maybe by tomorrow they can start explaining us everything, and what exactly happened to the others" he replied.
-"I hope so too. I'm starting to get worried, you know" expressed the concerned trucker pup with his head down.
-"I feel you, buddy".
Not wanting to continue thinking the worse outcomes, Wildcat quickly shook his head before addressing to Al again in order to lift his spirit back. The less they needed was to give up hope too soon.
-"A-anyway, we should probably go to sleep like Chase and Marshall. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow" he stated.
-"Agreed, I'll just finish a couple of things here and then I'll follow you" said Al with a smile as he urged Wildcat to go to sleep first.
-"Fine, but don't stay up too long, Al. I don't want to be blamed for making you lose sleep".
-"I'll be done in a jiff! You'll see".
Smiling at this, Wildcat swiftly turned around towards the elevator. Right now, the lookout looked too much silent and somber, most likely to the obvious reason it was already too late to be hanging around at night. However, it was clear as crystal that this feeling of anxiousness was only caused by the absence of the rest of the Paw Patrol and their leader Ryder. As he walked through the corridor, he could only hope they were alright.
-"Skye, can you hear me?" stated a known voice to Wildcat, which surprised him on the spot.
-"Chase?" he muttered unsurely since he thought that the police pup was sleeping in the lobby. Yet his voice was coming from the observatory.
-"Rocky, Zuma…? Please, can anybody answer…" continued the young German Shepherd through his own sobs and whimpers as he tried to contact his other canine friends. But so far, it proved to be pointless to even try.
-"Ryder…sob…what am I supposed to do now…sob".
-"Chase?" spoke Wildcat, feeling concerned by his sobbing friend, who was sitting on a comfy, red leather chair, right in front of the Paw Patrol main computer.
-"What you're doing up?" he asked as he too climbed up the chair, next to Chase. The police pup just remained silent with his head low, not minding the feline's presence at all.
-"Sob…it's all my fault, Wildcat. All of this…" confessed Chase disheartened while wiping the mucus of his nose with his paw.
-"What do you mean is your fault?"
-"Everything. This wouldn't have happened if I had followed my instinct and warned Ryder about the trap we were all walking into" he explained him, though Wildcat didn't seem to follow his vague reasoning.
-"Chase, I can't help you if you're not clear with me. What trap do you mean?" asked Wildcat, urging his friend for all the details of the story, because, without them, they'd be aimlessly walking around with no specific direction to go to.
-"Sob…it all started yesterday, early in the morning…."
The day before:
Like everyday in the lookout, all of the Paw Patrol members had risen with the sun. Chase obviously being the first one, followed closely by Skye, whose kennel was next to his. Rocky always started his days with a tired yawn before coming out of his pup house, and Zuma liked to stretch a little before starting his day. The snoring Rubble would follow them afterwards, right after Chase would tell him to wake up as they passed by his kennel.
-"Yaaawn, g' morning, guys" said Rubble, greeting his friends as they drank water from their respective bowls.
-"Gurgle, gurgle, slurp... Morning, Rubble" they answered him back.
-"So, who's turn is it to wake up Marshall?" asked Chase while looking at the only member of the team, still sleeping soundly in his firefighter kennel.
-"Not me" stated Skye, who was pretty sure her turn was yet to come.
-"I did it yesterday, after he mistaken me for a big biscuit…" added Rubble a little embarrassed by what happened afterwards that day.
-"I think it's Rocky's turn today" chimed Zuma mischievously while eyeing his oblivious friend that was pretending to not be part of the conversation.
-"Gee, thanks Zuma for clearing it out" said Rocky disgruntledly.
-"Sigh…guess I should prepare for any surprise bite…" he admitted in defeat before preparing himself for the task, only to be stopped by an entertained Chase, who was willing to relieve his pal from the chore that needed to be carried out.
-"It's ok Rocky, I'll wake Marshall".
-"Thanks, Chase! I promise I'll repay you" he insisted while Chase smiled back at him.
-"You better" he chuckled before stopping right next to a sleepy Marshall rolled backwards.
-"Marsh, come on. It's time to wake up" spoke Chase as he poked his white belly with his paw. Then rapidly backed away when he started moving.
-"Hmmmhm" muttered Marshall, still asleep, rolling downwards again.
-"Stay calm, everybody. I will handle the situation, mmmhmm" he continued talking happily in his sleep. Knowing this, and using it to his advantage, Chase devised a devious idea to finally wake his friend up.
-"Careful, Marshall. You don't want to mess things up in front of Everest" whispered Chase right next to his friend's ear, which earned him the response he was hoping to achieve.
-"I would never! Ough!" yelped Marshall the moment he carelessly smacked his head with the roof of his kennel once he stood up with all four legs.
-"Ughhh, Ch-Chase?" he asked, openly confused of what was happening; to the point he had to observe his surroundings to make sure there was no trouble around.
-"Wait, where is everyone? And the fire?"
-"Hahaha! You'll have plenty of time to save everybody, Marsh. But for now, why don't we fill our stomachs?" insisted Chase while placing his paw on Marshall's shoulder. Immediately, his childish face brightened up at the idea of having a nice treat with delicious water.
-"For sure!" he answered before running off to where his friends were.
Soon, all Paw Patrol members found themselves drawn together in a mix of joyful stories about their daily misadventures around Adventure Bay. Whether it was a succesful pet rescue, a daring mission at the sea or in the outskirts of the city, or simply a peaceful walk on the streets, all six pups had each other's backs through thick and thin, though in their case it would be more appropriate to say: 'through bone and fur'.
-"Good, I see you're all prepared" stated a young man's voice near the pups, and who they welcomed gladly.
-"Good morning, Ryder!" their cheerful voices choired in unison.
-"We have a long day ahead of us, so let's check everything up".
With the help of his trusty Pup-Pad, Ryder accessed the list of pending assignments Mayor Goodway had given them in advance, in preparation for the motorcycle stunt show to be performed in Adventure Bay, as part of the world tour Wildcat had decided to give. It goes without saying that all six pups were more than excited to see their feline friend after so long.
-"Alright then, for this job we'll work in pairs: Skye and Rubble, you'll be in charge of supervising the setting of ramps and the stage by ground and air".
-"We'll do, Ryder!" replied the Cockapoo pilot happily as her Bulldog friend.
-"I also managed to get in contact with Al's delivery company, and he kindly accepted to oversee the whole transport of the equipment and lights for the show, which means we'll be having more than one guest here in the Bay".
-"Awesome! Yeah! Wooo! Bark-bark!" erupted the cheerful voices of his pets, making him laugh a little.
-"Next on: Rocky and Zuma, your job is to watch over both the maintenance of the equipment and city control. We might have a lot of tourists and media coverage during the event, so I'm counting on you two to keep Adventure Bay in order" continued Ryder as he instructed the two pups.
-"You can count on us!" stated the mixed breed before fist-pawing with his Labrador friend.
-"And, of course, last but not least: Chase and Marshall…" began Ryder for the two remaining Paw Patrol members, who shared a contented look on their faces for being teamed up together.
-"I'll have you two performing your respective police officer, firefighter and medic duties in case an emergency were to occur. This is all just for precautions. We don't want to be unprepared if an immediate response is need" he explained them out of his own concern. While all safety measures had been properly taken in advance, one couldn't be that certain it'd turn out completely perfect.
-"It's no problem, Ryder. We understand" spoke the young German Shepherd, straightforwardly as always.
-"Yeah! Besides, being a fire-medic pup is what I do best!" added the small Dalmatian with genuine candidness in his voice.
-"Good, we'll depart by-huh…?" uttered Ryder surprised all of sudden, which in return startled the pups.
-"What's wrong, Ryder?" asked Chase, feeling already curious for his leader's unexpected reaction.
-"My Pup-Pad just glitched. But all features are working perfectly fine" he reassured them after tapping on the various icons and settings on the screen, and they responded exactly as he hoped to.
Since there seemed to be no problem with his device, Ryder decided to put his concern aside for the moment and focus on the current task at hand of preparing everything for the big show.
-"I'll check it later. For now, let's finish breakfast and get ourselves ready" he informed this to the team, and they eagerly complied.
Later that same day…
Both Chase and Marshall found themselves downtown, more specifically by the City Hall, where the two were placing various traffic cones to avoid traffic jam and temporary close the roads leading to the main area of the event. At their current pace, they'd be most likely done by the afternoon.
-"I'm almost done here, Marsh. How about you?" asked the police pup while keeping an eye on his friend.
-"I'm right behind you, Chase" replied Marshall without looking at front, which of course made his firetruck stray out of the street a little, into the square. Luckily, the Dalmatian pup managed to pull up in time, although the traffic cones he was carrying ended up scattered across the place.
-"Oops, hehehe…" he laughed embarrassedly.
-"You ok there, Marsh?" spoke Chase once he caught up with him, to which the fire pup nodded happily.
-"Need a paw?" stated an unknown voice to them.
Before they could answer back, the very same pup that was speaking to them began picking up and tossing the cones swiftly towards the street, exactly where they were meant to be placed by Marshall.
-"Woooow!" howled the two friends astonished as the mysterious pup threw the last cone at ease with his muzzle.
-"That was really amazing!" proclaimed Marshall as he approached the fellow canine; a well built German Shepherd as his friend Chase was, but with perfect white fur like the snow. His attire just consisted on a black leather jacket, an armband with a military pattern on his left leg and a pair of black sunglasses.
-"Glad I could be of use" he responded in a very composedly manner, almost like he was being too respectful for the two.
-"To be honest, it's the first time I see a pup pulling up those moves with just its muzzle. Don't you think that, Chase?" he told to his friend who, for some reason, seemed to be interest in knowing more about this other German Shepherd in the Bay.
-"Yes, you're right Marsh… Hey, listen, haven't we… met before?" asked Chase with his head slightly titled to the side as he forced his mind to recall any memory related to the guy. However, and just before he could get a straight answer from him, both his and Marshall's pug tag lighted up, which meant Ryder needed their presence in the lookout: ASAP.
Do not fret, lads and gents, for I have returned! :D
