"As you can probably guess, being able to swallow a person whole without either having your stomach ripped apart or jaw breaking isn't common, nor is it rare, in fact it could be considered the golden goose." The doctor had pulled in a whiteboard and some markers, which he was using to both gesture at certain diagrams already on the board and draw more diagrams of women as he talked. "The ability to do so is a combination of certain genetic mutations combining themselves with a slowly dying recessive combination in your genes." He droned on, as if teaching a classroom.
"Wait a second. Not splitting apart? I felt like I was being torn apart from the inside! And what do you mean by a dying combination? Or mutations for that matter?" Nelly asked with a combination of anger and confusion on her face. She hadn't been paying much attention when he brought the whiteboard in, but with that she had begun to stare intently at it.
"For your first question I suppose your current state aside from the s-section would indicate that no, you were not torn apart. For your second one it simply means that not enough people have the recessive variant of the gene to transfer to their children." He had begun to draw more and more on the board, drawings of a woman with her stomach cut open now being side by side with sketches of genes.
"Hold on for a moment." She spoke, rubbing her forehead to soothe her growing headache. "Let's go through one thing at a time, what's an s-section?"
"An s-section is the practice of cutting open a woman's stomach in order to remove the swallowed person from inside, much like a c-section. It is somewhat more dangerous due to location however with the boons granted from the mutations it actually has a lower failure rate to perform." He used his capped marker to gesture at the cut open woman.
"Ok, now what are the mutations and how do they work? How could a mutation even cause all of this?" She vaguely gestured at herself, calming down as she began to take deeper breaths.
"Each individual mutation only does a little, but together and with that combination they allow some astonishing feats. One increases the elasticity of your skin, muscle, bones, organs, and other fleshy parts, making them more durable and able to stretch far further. Another changes the compound used in stomach acid making it much more potent, along with giving the person some amount of control over its level. The most important however is a gene that has the programming for how to use excess nutrients to effectively enhance the body at will, albeit at steep calorie and nutrient cost, making it only really effective in people like you or the obese." He had almost covered the whiteboard in drawings, and had simply began to gesticulate and point at Nelly in order to emphasize his point in absence of ability to show them.
"So what you're saying is that Im a genetic freak capable of vore? And using that to make myself better? What does that even mean? And how low are those odds?" She looked confused again, holding her fist to her forehead and muttering out her questions.
"As your doctor I'm not supposed to call you a freak, but yes. Ever since 1820 we've had records of these mutations appearing together, it's decently well recorded actually! Though you are the only one currently alive due to the odds being so low that ten to the negative power of fifty may be too small to sum them up. For the becoming better thing it's simple, using it to make your brain more efficient, fixing damaged parts of the body, or reinforcing musculature, etc..." He had pulled up a chair for himself, and began to power up his computer with a loud whirring noise.
"Then with all of that, why did I feel so much pain? Based on what you're telling me I shouldn't have felt any." Resting her chin upon her dainty hands, she began to slouch as she looked at him.
"Have you ever eaten spicy food before Nelly?" He asked.
"I don't see why this is relevant, but yes." She responded.
"Then it is best compared to that, you are able to eat incredibly large or incredibly hot things, but you are not acclimated, especially since you have likely never eaten anything even close to as large as a person." Pulling out a clipboard, he had begun to write. The sound of a pencil scratching filled the sterile air. "Though it will never be that painful again, since you had never gone that far before gate control failed, leading to more sensory inputs then it was ready to handle. It won't fail twice"
"So if I ate larger things I would eventually be adjusted to the pain? Does that just mean I have to swallow a watermelon every now and again?" She asked, beginning to lean up, interested in what this new possibility could bring.
"Yes, and that is actually a good starting point. I'll have a watermelon tomorrow at 5:00pm if you would agree to another appointment then. I wish to x-ray you while you swallow it to see what exactly happens to your bones." He had finished writing in his first paper, and had moved over to his computer to begin typing out something.
"Why haven't I heard of all this then, it seems like something they would teach in at least one year of school?" She asked, standing up after him and leaning on the white wall.
"Because most people either wouldn't believe it until they saw it, most schools don't care for anything but the basics, it's so rare that despite being documented most people don't even know where to look, and a combination of stigmata despite it being legal." He continued to type, not looking at her as he input more.
"What exactly do you mean it's legal? This seems pretty big to be legal, given the entire death of a person." She asked once more, putting her hands in the pockets of her hospital gown.
"A person enhanced enough is effectively biologically immortal, along with being smart enough to make a calculator look like a bad cheat sheet. So letting them get away with killing a few people was seen as a needed price during the cold war, where the protection was allowed. A lot of jobs would pay high money for you, but thankfully due to another confidentiality law you would have to give me consent to put this on the medical transcripts we have to send out." He finished typing, whirling around to look at her.
"I wouldn't like that being shared, so please leave that off them. Is that all or do I need to hear something else?" She was beginning to look at the door. Her thoughts being mostly of possibility boredom, and a final curiosity. "Actually I don't think I got your name?"
"For now call me Dr. Sunshine, and yes, you may go. All the work is filed, and since it's related to vore the s-section has simply been recorded as a medical checkup. "Once more due to law, there will be no bill for this. I'll see you tomorrow." He nodded, and waved her off.
"Goodbye!" She said as she left the room. It would be a fun walk back home for her, knowing that the road ahead of her would be an open one. Her lucky break was looking to be a full jackpot from her eyes! "Guess medicine can help." She muttered during her walk, smiling as she reached her apartment and went to sleep for the night, tired and ready for a bright (and hungry) tomorrow.
