Cold, bored, wrapped in a blanket, such was the prompt

With the progression of her disease came a lot of inconveniences: the pain, wondering about the meaning of her life, knowing she would leave behind the person she loved… But the one thing worse than anything was the coldness. She was cold, so cold. Her skin was always clammy now. She felt like her bones were humid too. That and the difficulty to breathe were her worst memories from her first round with death. She found it more difficult to endure than the pain, though this time she seemed spared from it.

The first time around, she had tried to force herself to move, thinking that exercising would warm her up. It just left her exhausted. She had tried to drink tea and other hot beverages. She burnt her tongue but it didn't help in the long run. It felt good though to feel her insides all nice and hot but as soon as she started to digest, it was all gone. And she would have to get up and go to the bathroom. It was not worth it. The last thing she tried was to wrap herself in a blanket. It was better even though she felt like a giant burrito. She hadn't been truly warm but at least she was not freezing anymore.

But this time, she had a secret weapon. She forced herself to undress. Taking out her clothes was a torture, all her skin burning from cold. But she knew it would soon get better. Once naked, she lifted up the sheet and got inside the bed. He was on his back, snoring loudly, alcohol on his breath. She should have cared but she didn't, not when all she wanted was to suck his warmth. She snuggled between the wall and his solid chest. Gods, he was so hot. She chuckled. In her years a few men accused her of taking advantage of them but none for this reason. She jammed her freezing feet against his burning calves, making him yelp. He opened one eye, laughed sleepily and put his arm around her small waist. By the time he kissed her forehead, she wasn't cold anymore, for the first time that day. Maybe it was love, maybe it was life but it made wonders on her battled body and soul.
