Monk with Evil Cat Spirit Problem

"Man, walking up this very long staircase certainly remains me of the ones back home." Touta commented as he and the others are walking up the long staircase to the temple.

"Yep, guess this is the sort of thing that'll never change throughout time." Towa said.

"Really? I thought you would made them into those moving stairs like I saw in that mall." Moroha surprised to hear that.

"Perhaps they'd like to keep the old tradition alive to remind others of how things were like before all the technology and such." Setsuna said.

"That would make sense." Moroha agreed.

Moments later, finally climbing to the very top of the staircase, the four half-demon teens arrive at the temple that resides on the top and seeing the place for the first time left them with a little unimpressed with the temple considering the state it's in.

"Old." Touta said a single word.

"No kidding. Mr. Jyubei wasn't kidding about this place being old." Towa agreed with her boyfriend on that one.

"This whole place looks suspicious." Moroha commented.

"But no demon energy so far. They must be hiding out somewhere." Setsuna said, not sensing any more of those demon cats like the ones they fought in the village when they were controlling those people.

"They must be suppressing their presence to not be alerted by others like Priests and Demon Hunters, otherwise this place would have been search long ago." Touta pointed out.

"That is highly likely." Setsuna agreed.

"Do you have some business at this temple?" A man asked.

"Oh, looks like someone lives here." Touta said.

"And that someone is a monk." Moroha said, a bit relief to know that it isn't someone dangerous.

The monk of the temple steps out to show himself to the newly arrived visitors, but the moment Towa saw his face, she became shocked.

"That's Julian?" Towa gasped.

"Who's Julian?" Both Moroha and Setsuna asked gasp from Towa's reaction.

"Julian? I feel like I know that name somehow." Touta puzzled of the name, feels like he knows it but can't remember why.

"Good evening, ladies. You can call me Juan." The monk greeted with revealing his name.

Juan is a young and attractive boy. Like most monks, he has a shaved head and is dressed in the typical dark lilac tunic. He has a mole on his left cheek.

"I don't believe it! He looks exactly like Mei's favorite idol, Julian!" Towa pointed out to Touta and her confused twin sister and cousin.

"Eye… doll?" Setsuna confused and miss pronouncing the word.

"Idol, it's a word that describes one person who is known to be a famous singer with great voice and looking stylish at the same time." Touta explained about idols.

"And I thought she was going on about weird Tokyo stuff again." Moroha said.

"Hey, I just remember! My little sisters have two posters of that Julian guy, and looking at the guy now, he does look just like him." Touta realized.

"I know, if this were the modern era, he'd totally be a celebrity!" Towa nodded.

"Wait, do you think he could be Julian's ancestor?" Towa asked shock.

"Well, they do have the same time and all, except this hair is completely bald." Touta pointed out that one difference.

"Excuse me?" Juan confused of what those two just said.

"Nothing, just saying you look like someone we know." Touta said and started to feel a bit uneasy when seeing Towa eyeing Juan. Setsuna is looking at Towa weirdly.

"Just give it a rest." Moroha exclaimed, feeling annoyed of this and wanting to get straight to the point.

"Hey, Mr. Monk, you seen any ghost cats around here?" Moroha asked.

"Ghosts?" Juan confused again and knows this is something he needs to hear.

After allowing them inside, Juan hears out the group's explanation about the demon cats and the village and from what they heard.

"I see. So, there are ghost cats in the mountain. I must admit, this is the first I've heard of it, I'm afraid." Juan said.

"Have you seen anything strange?" Setsuna asked.

"Such as?" Juan hoped for the specific details of what strange things.

"A lot of people have gone missing lately all of which were traveling through the mountain pass." Towa explained.

"I have offered many travelers shelter for the night in the temple, but nothing out of the ordinary." Juan explained about the travelers who come to the temple.

"For real? And you never saw them leave?" Touta asked another question.

"Well, when you put it like that, I guess the travelers I shelters do end up leaving without a word. But I believe they were just in a hurry to be somewhere." Juan stated.

Moroha finds what this monk is saying suspicious though her nose tells her that this guy is 100% human meaning this guy couldn't be the source of the demon ghost cats, but she can tell that something is up.

"It is getting late. The four of you are welcome to stay until morning if you would like to. It might be wise." Juan offered them shelter.

"Why do you say that?" Touta asked.

"The mountain pass can be quite dangerous after dark." Juan answered.

"Sure, why not? We'll take you up on that." Moroha accepted for the whole group.

Juan escorted the group to the empty available room in the temple, letting them settle in.

"Alright, make yourselves at home." Juan smiled before closing the door.

"Thank you for the hospitality." Touta thanked, waving his hand.

"That was really nice, right, Towa?" Touta asked.

"Yeah, Julian really is a kind person and glad that he doesn't have any demon sense." Towa nodded with a smile but hearing that made Touta look pouty.

"You know his name is Juan." Touta corrected his girlfriend.

"Yeah, just what's so great about this Juan guy anyway? You said he's some famous guy." Moroha asked.

"Of course, he's famous! His singing is amazing!" Towa explained and put in an earpiece in Moroha's ear playing one of Julian's songs.

"Sheesh, this guy sure sucks." Moroha unimpressed with this song.

"Yeah, his style of singing wasn't exactly my style." Touta said.

Then Moroha gets an idea to have a little prank on Towa to put in the earpiece, but the serious Demon Slayer girl smack the earpiece away and landed back into Towa's hand.

"So, what exactly is the plan here?" Touta asked.

"We're going to make ourselves look defenseless for the ghost cats to come after us then we make our move." Moroha explained the plan.

"The basic strategy of a demon slayer." Setsuna said.

"Oh, so we're going to make ourselves bait for those cats to show themselves up! Just like the classic case Scooby-Doo!" Touta smirked excitedly.

"Except it's the whole gang being the bait then just two." Towa pointed out.

"Okay, you two really need to tone down all that 21st Century stuff if you're going to be around. Or at least keep it just make sure it with the people you trust." Moroha advised.

"Right! We'll be big help to the people of that village!" Touta smiled.

"What do you mean help?" Setsuna asked.

"It's what we do." Towa said.

"No, we slay demons." Setsuna pointed out.

"Then why did we help that village?" Touta asked.

"That was just a detour. And those cats are worthless. We gotta aim higher if we wanna get pay" Moroha stated as she walks over to her futon.

"Moroha, why do you wanna make so much money, anyway?" Towa asked curiously.

"I think it's about owing Mr. Jybei a debt, probably for whatever she did that has to be a big amount or someone else put her in that debt." Touta guessed.

"Okay, time for me to pretend I'm sleeping." Moroha said, deciding to ignore what Touta just said.

"Come on, you guys too." Moroha said to her three companions.

"She's right, maybe we should make our beds now." Towa agreed.

"I don't sleep, remember?' Setsuna reminded her of her curse.

"Do monks have to sleep too?" Touta asked.

"Pretty sure they do, but I hope Juan doesn't get cold for the night." Towa concerned for the mount.

"Oh, so now you're worried about that guy just because he looks just like Julian." Touta pouted as he got the futon out, with a pouty tone.

"Huh, are you okay, Touta? You sound a little uneasy." Towa asked.

"No, I'm not, I just don't feel like hearing about that Juan guy." Touta proclaimed, crossing his arms.

"Huh-oh, sounds like our little wolf cub is jealous that Towa is interested in the monk." Moroha teased with a chuckle.

"You seem to have upset him as well." Setsuna added.

"What? Touta, are you really jealous of Juan?" Towa asked surprise of her boyfriend being jealous.

"So, what if I am?" Touta asked back, pouting a bit more.

"Oh Touta, you're being so silly over a little jealousy." Towa moved over to Touta wrapping her arms around you.

"You know you're the only one I'll ever love in my life." Towa assured as she leans her lips down to snuggle onto his neck.

"No! Don't! You know the back of my neck is my tickling spot!" Touta shocked as he starts laughing from this.

"(So, he's ticklish from the neck. I'll have to remember that.)" Moroha thought told herself.

"(Honestly, can't those two take this battle seriously?)" Setsuna thought asked as she slightly looks away.

Towa kept tickling Touta for a little more until the wolf boy broke free from her hold.

"I just realize that you girls need your privacy! I'll be sleeping somewhere else!" Touta quickly ran out of the small room.

"You made him go away." Setsuna said.

"Yeah, can get embarrassed when his tickling spot is being use." Towa explained.

(With Touta)

Touta was embarrassed that now Setsuna and Moroa know about his tickling spot, Moroha will probably tease him for a while and Setsuna, she won't care about it at all which is to be expected or her.

"Oh man, it feels like mom is still embarrassing me now." Touta talked to himself.

"Having trouble with sleeping, young man?" Juan asked.

Touta just realize that he stumbles upon himself in the main room with the monk sitting there for meditation.

"(Oh great, it's Juan again.)" Touta thought upset a bit but kept up a smile on his face.

"Just decided on giving the girls some space in the room, hope you don't mind if I sleep here for the night." Touta explained a bit, not wanting to go into the detail.

"That's not a problem, as long as you and your companions will have a peaceful sleep." Juan smiled.

"(I don't know why, but I'm getting a bad feeling about this monk almost like there's something else going on with this guy.)" Touta thought lay down on spot and go to sleep.

Unknown to Touta, the young man forms a secret evil smile on his face.

(With Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha)

The three girls are sleeping together, or that's what they want the enemies to think as they are being quiet and keeping their energies low as possible for the ghost cats to come at them as planned.

But then Towa flinch a bit.

"Towa, quiet your energy." Setsuna said.

"Sorry, but I figure that I don't have to since we have company." Towa explained.

"When you put it like that, I guess there we don't have to either." Setsuna looked up at the ceiling seeing over a dozen ghost cats on the ceiling.

The ghost cats all meow evilly at the three girls and jump down to kill them with their ghostly claws.

That's when Moroha opens her eyes.

"I knew you stupid ghost cats would fall right into our trap!" Moroha threw the sheet at the cats blinding some of them and slashes them into pieces.

Setsuna and Towa wasted no time as they each cut down several more demon ghost cats in their way.

"Oh right, we got them all!" Moroha cheered.

"But I'm not sure if this is really over." Towa concerned, then start to think about Touta.

"Oh no, Touta is all alone! We have to go find him!" Towa worried about her wolf boyfriend.

"Relax, this is Touta we're talking about. There's no way he'll be beating down for by some stupid cats." Moroha pointed out with a grin.

"Although, I guess it wouldn't hurt to see if the guy is doing alright." Moroha felt something is telling her to go check up on Touta.

"Then we better go." Setsuna seconded that notion.

(With Touta and Juan)

Touta is sleeping soundly almost like he was sleeping on his own bed and snoring softly as well, and Juan is standing up over the wolf half-demon boy with an evil grin and a fang is growing from the inside of his mouth.

"Now, it's time to feast on a stupid dog." Juan smirked with one hand about to reach for him.

But then Touta suddenly sprinted as he jumps with one bite on Juan's arm making him scream in pain, along with his eyes being shadowed.

"AAAAHHH?!" Juan screamed in angry pain.

"What was that?" Moroha asked as she and the girls heard the scream.

"Come on, we have to hurry!" Towa ran with the two girls hurrying behind her.

When they got the scene, they saw the Touta is biting hard onto Juan's arm for some reason.

"Why is Touta biting that monk?" Setsuna confused.

But the answer soon became clear when Juan turns around revealing his face has changed with orange-red eyes and fangs.

"Let go of me, you damn brat!" Juan demanded with a deep voice.

"Whoa, sounds like this monk might not be a monk as all!" Moroha shocked.

"Then it's a good thing Touta's sleep biting helped him out." Towa pointed at Touta, revealing his eyes are still close and snoring mumble with his mouth full.

"He's biting him in his sleep!" Moroha gasped.

"Forget about that, I smell demon from the monk." Setsuna alerted the girls, now sensing demon energy coming from the monk.

"Touta! Wake up! We got a demon to fight!" Towa called out which started to wake him up.

"Huh, what's up?" Touta asked, then see Juan with a scary face and quickly jumps off.

"What the… Why does Juan taste like a demon?" Touta puzzled.

"That's what I like to know as well." Setsuna pointed her weapon as "Juan".

"I might as well tell you." "Juan" chuckled.

"You see, I'm actually a demon ghost cat who's been around for 300 years until I was sealed away by a Priest 100 years ago underneath the floor of this temple, until just recently." The demon cat ghost explained.

"Recently? Was that when Juan came to this temple?" Touta asked.

"Yes, this pathetic excuse of a monk thought he should hold a service for me. The sutra he chanted out of compassion was strong enough to awaken my ensnared soul. And that's when I broke through the seal, making it child's play to take control of the monk's body." The demon ghost cat explained.

"He was only trying to save you." Towa stated, only for the ghost cat to laugh.

"I was never seeking salvation." The ghost cat said.

"Then the only thing we can do is banish you from that monk." Touta said as he brought out his sword.

"Good thing my mom told me how to get demons out of the ones they're possessing. One of the things include absorbing the demon energy out of Juan." Touta informed.

"Guess that means you can take the ghost cat." Setsuna said.

"I would… But I don't have the skill to absorb demon energy." Touta admitted, causing the three girls to fall comedically on the floor.

"But not I worry, Towa can handle that." Touta believed as she looks at Towa much to her surprise.

"Except I won't let you have the chance!" The ghost cat summoned a giant skeleton of a demon cat that is also formed of other human bones.

"I guess that's explain what happened to the humans that have come here." Setsuna said.

"It doesn't matter, Towa just needs to strike the ghost demon cat to absorb its energy and win this." Touta said, pointing his sword at the possessed Juan.

"(If Touta really believes I can do it, then I'm going for it.)" Towa thought determined.
