Chapter Twenty-One
Hospital…
Don's room…
Don was still feeling tired and glad that his father and brother were still there, as he didn't feel like being alone at the moment.
"Sorry for the scare." He said, not sure how else to start a conversation but it was a start anyway.
"Donnie, it's alright, all that matters is that you're okay, though you won't be in the field for a while." Alan said, as he was just grateful that his son was alive and breathing.
"I know, so do you know when I'll get out of here?" Don asked, as he was just hoping to get home soon.
"Not sure, but I think the doctor said in a couple days." Charlie said, both in disbelief but also not surprised given how stubborn his brother is.
"And before you even ask, you don't have to worry about the case as we have identified the guys and they sang like canaries." Colby said as he entered the room like a big grin on his face.
"Really? Who are they?" Don asked, perking up as Megan and David walked in
"Yep, and you will not believe their reasons for it." Megan said as she filled the Eppes on the fact the two men had grown obsessed with the celebrity couples, as they thought they could gain more notoriety after growing dissatisfied with the cons back home.
Don found himself not being surprised, as he knew it would be someone who was obsessed with fame, he just didn't expect it to be this way, not that he isn't complaining with the end result in the long run.
He was just grateful that he wouldn't have to deal with more Hollywood types for a while, he really doesn't like these cases.
Megan must have read his mind, as she gave him a sympathetic smile as she spoke again:
"You don't have to worry about any press conferences, as Merrick is taking care of it and the press is mostly focused on the actors' personal connection to the case, anyway."
Don just shrugged, as he didn't want to be the center of the whole thing anyway.
It left his mind altogether when Larry entered the room and the topic soon shifted on his and Megan's upcoming coffee date and felt content with his team.
