Chapter 6 (Percy) The Gifts

When I arrived at the Big House with Grover, Annabeth, the pretty girl, was already there. She had a long bronze knife which she proceeded to hide up her shirt sleeve. She turned around to call Chiron and he wheeled out a few moments later. He rolled up to me and gave me a new pen. This was supposed to be my greatest weapon. According to Chiron, the pen could turn into a sword. The sword was called Riptide (Anaklusmos in Ancient Greek) and it was a gift from my dad.

"It should only be used in emergencies. It only works against monsters as it's made of celestial bronze. And you can't lose it."

I looked at Chiron and thanked him for the gift.

"Hey." It was Luke with Adrian. "Glad I caught you. Here, take this."

He handed me a pair of shoes. "Maia!" The shoes grew wings as white as a dove. Adrian looked at me, then at Annabeth, then back at me.

"Remember your promise Percy." He grinned. "Take care of her."

Annabeth turned red. "Shut up. I can take care of myself. I'm not you."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." He nodded at Chiron and waved goodbye at us. He turned to leave with Luke.

"I guess we have to go now." Said Grover.

I nod. "You ready, Annabeth?"

She turned, if possible, even redder. She gave a squeak that could have been a 'Yes' or a 'Help'. I shook hands with Chiron.

"Take care Percy. Remember, you never had the training and time as the other heroes. I wish you had a bit more time."

I looked at Chiron, now in full stallion form. "We'll be fine."

I wish I could believe what I say.
