At first there was nothing but a black screen, eventually the lights switched on with a couple of clicks to find a TV studio with an oval table in the middle, on the left stood KT7 and on the right stood RAM.
RAM: Hello and welcome to another fanfiction death battle.
KT7: The most powerful magic users in fiction are often dressed in white.
RAM: But whether white equals light, or whether their white robes conceal a black heart, their power is often second to none.
KT7: Like Galadriel, the elven priestess from the Lord of the Rings.
RAM: And Jadis, better known as the white witch from the Chronicles of Narnia.
KT7: Me KT7!
RAM: And my name is RAM, and together we will analyse their strengths, weaknesses and popularity to see who would win a Fanfiction Death Battle.
RAM: On their way to the misty mountains, the party of Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield would find temporary respite from the perils to their quest in the land of Rivendell, home to many of the greatest elves of the time, including the greatest of them all, Galadriel.
KT7: She's pretty.
RAM: Don't be fooled, underneath her beauty is a being with great power, she was the one who destroyed the great fortress of Dol Guldur and has resisted Sauron's will from across a continent. Which is quite impressive, but she wasn't able to do these things on her own, she needed a little help, the help in the form of a ring
KT7: THE ONE RING? Isn't that cursed?!
RAM: No, it's not the one ring, this is another ring, one of three given to the elves by Sauron-
KT7: Hold on there's more than one ring?
(RAM gave a sigh)
RAM: Okay, I'm going to have to be quick about this. So, Sauron disguised himself and worked under a master blacksmith to create 20 rings which he gave to the different races in Middle Earth, 3 for the elves, 7 to the dwarves and 9 to man, plus the one ring to rule them all. The one we're all familiar with.
(RAM pulls out a ring)
RAM: Each of the rings has it's own unique set of powers.
KT7: And Sauron just gave it away?
RAM: It was all part of Sauron's plan, to corrupt the wielder of the rings by mentally overwhelming them with the one ring to rule them all, the ring that would let him have power over all of the other ring wielders.
(RAM starts to stare at the ring with great intensity, and KT starts making a concerned expression)
RAM: Of course, should almost anyone else try to hold on to the one ring for an extended period of time then, they might succumb to the corrupting power that resides in the ring. They might never want to let it go and turn on their closest companions in a bid to keep it safe from prying eyes, thinkingthatitmightgetstolenfromthematanygivenmoment, alwaysbelievingthatotherswanttotakewhatyoubelieveisrightfullyyourprecious. Justlikemaster…
…
RAM: Just kidding!
(RAM looks up to see KT out of shot)
RAM: Hey KT! What are you doing over there?
KT7: I'M NOT COMING BACK UNTIL YOU GET RID OF THAT THING!
RAM: Well, as it turned out Galadriel was one of the three elves to be gifted one of these rings, Nenya.
KT7: But Galadriel didn't entirely trust her new benefactor. "You thought it was the kindness of a stranger, but it was me! Sauron!"
RAM: While Sauron held onto the one ring, Galadriel correctly surmised that she would not be able to use the powers of her ring, should Sauron tried to control her. It was only when the one ring was lost that she began using its powers to help those in need.
KT7: And does that ring have a whole bunch of powers at hand. With Nenya, she can use light magic to decimate non-corporeal beings such as ghosts and ring wraiths, stop decay, see through illusions and manipulate the weather in her domain.
RAM: Although each ring has a specific power, it can also be used to enhance the skills that the wielder already has, meaning a different set of power might manifest should another wield it. Such as Galadriel's telekinesis, which allowed her to destroy that fort from earlier.
KT7: She would cross paths with the one ring again, when a group of unlikely adventurers would arrive with the one ring, on a quest to destroy it once and for all.
RAM: And while she might have seemed like the perfect candidate to hold on to the ring, ultimately, Galadriel knew that no matter her pure intentions to begin with, the ring would inevitably corrupt her into a foe as fearsome as Sauron.
KT7: Luckily, Gandalf had found a suitable person to hold onto the ring, Frodo Baggins.
RAM: Once he destroyed the one ring by throwing it into the fiery depths of Mount Doom, Galadriel took her leave to the land known as the Grey Havens, satisfied that darkness had been defeated and dawn of the age of man was to begin.
KT7: After all she did to help those in need, she definitely deserves a break.
Galadriel: Even the smallest person can change the course of the future
RAM: In Victorian London, a boy and a girl decided to explore the house of the boy's uncle.
KT7: Turns out uncle happened to be something of a mad scientist trying to find ways to explore other worlds, and he would do this by tricking said boy and girl into wearing a pair of rings that sent them to a world between worlds.
RAM: Deciding to make the best of it, the two children decided to explore another world, and arrived in a world that was devoid of life, or rather, everyone one in it was frozen in place.
KT7: Finding a large bell, the boy decided it was a good idea to ring it.
RAM: Turns out, not everyone was dead, for with the chiming of the bell, they released the one person who had caused all of this, Jadis of Charn.
KT7: You'd know her as the white witch, and boy does she live up to that title. She's a master of magic, being able to destroy her entire world, save for herself with the deplorable word.
RAM: Realising their mistake, the children tried to make a run for it back home, only the witch wasn't exactly keen on staying and ruling a dead world and followed them back to London, where she caused havoc in the streets of London.
KT7: Eventually the children managed to bring her to another world that was at that moment coming into existence.
RAM: This world was-
KT7: NARNIA!
RAM: Do you have to shout that loud? This would be the first meeting between Jadis and Aslan, and it didn't turn out so well for her.
KT7: Yeah, apparently, lampposts are ineffective against magical lions, who'd have thought?
RAM: Jadis decided to flee, but it would not be the last that Narnia would see of Jadis. 900 years later, she would return, and cast a spell that would cover Narnia in a blanket of snow for a hundred years, making it always winter and never Christmas.
KT7 Grabs RAM with worry.
KT7: CHRISTMAS IS CANCELLED?
RAM: No, KT, it's not now let go of me.
RAM readjusts herself
RAM: Anyway, her reign of tyranny would come to an end with the arrival of four evacuees into the world of Narnia.
KT7: She'd not exactly very good against children, she can't be that strong.
RAM: On the contrary, she is still a considerable foe, she can create illusions, disintegrate solid structures, petrify others, read the thoughts of man, as well as manipulate the weather. She can also move so fast that she can make it appear that she is wielding three daggers at the same time.
KT7: With that amount of power how can she ever be defeated?
RAM: Well defeated she was, in a battle against Aslan she ultimately was killed in combat. Although years later, there would be talk of resurrecting her to fight against king.
KT7: Good thing that didn't come to pass, facing a being that powerful is not something that any world would want to face once, let alone twice.
RAM: Which just goes to show just how dangerous the white witch truly is.
Jadis: Tonight, the Deep Magic will be appeased, but tomorrow, we will take Narnia forever! In that knowledge, despair... and die!
Among the many orange trees scattered around the clearing of the woodland, stood a tall and beautiful elf, staring at the falling leaves, a bright light emanating around her. The Elf closed her eyes, before opening then again, her breath freezing in the air as the temperature dropped.
On the other side of the clearing appeared a tall, pale figure emerged, being transported in a carriage drawn by a pair of wolves at her and driven by a small gnome. Jadis stepped out of her carriage, a thin layer of fresh snow crunched beneath her feet as light snow began to fall in her half of the clearing. The elf turned to face her. "(You are not welcome in this land, Jadis of Charn)."
The White Witch stopped in her tracks. In the background, her driver was untying the wolves from the carriage. "You dare to speak this way to your queen?" Jadis scowled in contempt
Galadriel took a couple of steps towards Jadis. "I shall banish you from this land, White Witch."
Fight!
Sneering, Jadis dismissively waved a hand to her driver, who released the wolves. The two wolves bolted towards Galadriel, only for Galadriel to blast the wolves back with a blinding ethereal light. The two wolves were thrown in the air and onto the ground, as the wolves shakily stood up again, Galadriel gave them a hard stare, causing the two wolves to scamper away in fear.
Unimpressed, Jadis pulled out her wand and fired a spell towards the elf. Galadriel dodged out of the way, however Jadis' spell instead hit a squirrel that was scurrying around the tree behind where Galadriel stood, falling to the ground, turned to stone. Galadriel surveyed the scene in a mixture of sadness and anger. "Such a disregard for the world."
Jadis once more fired a spell, Galadriel didn't bother moving as the spell flew past her and towards a tree behind her, Galadriel slowly turned as the tree started falling, before holding up her palm towards the tree, causing its roots to rejuvenate and hold it at an angle. While Galadriel was focused on the tree Jadis prepared for another attack, only for Galadriel to quickly turn her head, raise her other palm towards Jadis and blast the witch with another bout of light magic, the attack knocking the wand out of her hand.
Jadis scowled, pulling out her stone knife and rushing towards Galadriel, who dodged the initial attack, and the subsequent flurries of attack that followed afterwards, annoyed, Galadriel sent a blast of magic straight into the witch, causing her to be pushed back, but still keeping her feet.
Noticing her wand by her feet, Jadis picked it up and pointed it towards the sky, blanketing the clearing in a large winter storm. Galadriel braced herself against the sudden storm, only to use Nenya to dissipate it a little bit. Behind her, through the snowy haze, a tree slowly crept towards her, before it transformed into the silhouette of Jadis, her knife raised as she was about to pounce. "(I see through your guise, witch)". Galadriel dodged as Jadis swung her knife down where the elf had once stood.
Jadis continued to swing wildly towards Galadriel, nearly landing a blow on the elf, only for Galadriel to grab Jadis by the hand, extending the other hand to her face. "(ENOUGH!)" Galadriel shouted as she attacked Jadis' mind. "Cease this folly and leave this realm!" Jadis, dropped down onto one knee, before she struggled to lift her head towards the elf.
"I am privy to the thoughts of man"
With an upward thrust, Jadis stabbed her knife into Galadriel's leg, causing her to flinch, allowing Jadis to stand up of both legs and attempt another attack, only for Galadriel to grab the hand that wielded the knife. However, with her other hand Jadis fired a spell point blank at Galadriel turning the elf to stone. Jadis stood to her feet, and with another flick of her wrist caused the statue of Galadriel to crumble to dust. Nenya fell to the floor with a small 'chink' and bounced across the floor. Jadis walked over and found the ring on the floor, and placed it on her finger, where it disappeared.
"An appropriate gift, for your new queen…"
Jadis stood admiring her new item, as a gentle snow started to fall in the snow covered clearing.
K.O!
KT7: Does this mean…that Christmas is cancelled…~?
RAM: Don't worry KT, I'm sure it'll work out. This was quite a difficult match to analyse, especially since concrete stats are hard to find in both character's lore.
KT7: The best feat we could find for Galadriel is her countering the might of Sauron.
RAM: And while being able to keep his power at bay across a continent might seem impressive, it's actually counter-productive.
KT7: Yeah, Galadriel was mentally drained by countering his strength and Sauron was the other side of the continent, imagine if she tried that when he was standing next to her.
RAM: Dividing Sauron's strength across the continent gives us a figure of 410 tons of TNT, impressive, but a drop in the ocean compared to the white witch.
KT7: Technically, the white witch survived the birth of Narnia, theoretically putting her at universal levels of power.
RAM: However, it might be a little presumptuous to claim she has universal levels of power, seeing as two children, a horse and a lamppost survived it too. And while she did fight Aslan, he might not have been the one to actually create Narnia, and might be more akin, to a manifestation of the universe's morals.
KT7: So what is her next biggest feat? It would probably be the time she covered Narnia in an everlasting winter for 100 years.
RAM: It was a hard task trying to find any sort of figure for the size of Narnia, but we estimate it to be around 900,000 km squared.
KT7: If this spell was instantaneous then that would put her at around 135 teratons of TNT! That's quite a gap!
RAM: However, there was a 900 year gap between when she created the storm, and when she was last seen prior to this, if we assume that she spent 900 years preparing this spell, then the amount of power that she can produce is about 4750 tons of TNT/second, over ten times stronger that Galadriel.
KT7: However, it is Galadriel who had the speed advantage, being able to counter Sauron who can move between supersonic plus and high hypersonic speeds, while Jadis moving so fast that she appears the wield multiple knives puts her at subsonic speeds, meaning that Galadriel would be between 5 to 500 times faster than Jadis.
RAM: Significantly faster than Jadis, but it's more than likely that Jadis is stronger than Galadriel is faster. Meaning that Jadis could land a fatal blow on Galadriel before Galadriel could do the same.
KT7: But wouldn't Galadriel be able to overpower Jadis' mind?
RAM: Possibly…Galadriel is quite well versed in using her mind, but Jadis wasn't that defenceless against her. She claimed that she could read the minds of man, so she'd have some knowledge of mental attacks, and people like Jadis are not in the habit of making empty threats, after all she once killed every living thing in her universe, just so that her sister couldn't take the throne. We're not saying her mind was as strong as Sauron's, but it would be more difficult to overpower her than a regular human or orc, giving her enough of a mental resistance to perform a sneak attack.
KT7: But there must have been other ways that Galadriel could have taken down Jadis?
RAM: Not in particular, while her ring, Nenya, could counter Jadis' weather manipulation and illusion magic, she didn't have a counter against her petrification spell or her disintegration spell. Sure she could halt the spread of decay, but the white witch's petrification magic doesn't kill anyone, after all, Aslan was able to turn them back into flesh, he wasn't bringing them back from the dead and reviving them with necromancy.
KT7: And while Galadriel's light magic was effective against non-corporeal beings such as ring wraiths, it was far less effective on actual physical beings.
RAM: Plus, Jadis wasn't shy from forgoing magical attacks and performing physical attacks instead, after all she was killed in battle.
KT7: Galadriel meanwhile has no such feats of physical confrontation, mostly relying on her magic to overpower her foes
RAM: It's possible that Galadriel might have been able to overpower the white witch if she was quick enough, however, with her greater power and variety of magic spells, Jadis would ultimately cinch the win.
KT7: Are you sure Christmas isn't cancelled…?
RAM: For crying out loud KT, yes, Christmas isn't cancelled. The winner is Jadis, the White Witch.
KT7: Whoa, talk about brutal!
RAM: Don't forget to see the alternate ending in Fanfiction Death Battle: Alternate Endings, until then the next contestants in Fanfiction Death Battle are…
