"Bobby Singer- you can't have possibly…you kidnapped those people that showed up in that field," Jodie said as she stood in the hospital room and stared at the woman in the bed. Bobby had called her as soon as they got into Sioux Falls General and now she was trying to figure out if she even could give them any top cover. "Everyone is looking for them."
"I know, but you also know what I do and why we'd have them," Bobby said as Jodie stared at him before looking over to see the man holding the woman's hand tightly. Kim had been impaled by some steel and it had taken all of them to keep Tommy from causing her more damage. "And they're good, Jodie. They're really freaking good."
"I'll do what I can, but you better be prepared to get them out of here quickly," Jodie said as she turned away and started mumbling about all the things that she now knew about and she wished that she didn't.
"Bobby- we're fine, really. I just…can you leave us alone?" Tommy said as he looked up at him and Bobby gave him a look. "Just outside the door. Please."
"Listen- I don't care what you feel you need to say to her. We were right that other things noticed the two of you and they're coming for you. You don't know how to defend yourself," Bobby said as Tommy let out a groan and glared at him. "Glare all you want- I'm staying."
"I can help her heal, okay? I just need five minutes," Tommy said as Bobby gave him a confused look. "I figured it out sometime after Mesogog and from what your friend just said- we're going to need to get her up and out of here quickly."
"Fine- five minutes," Bobby said as he shook his head and looked back to see Tommy stripping off his shirt. He decided he didn't want to know what would happen in the next five minutes as soon as he saw that.
Kim woke with a jerk as she felt the terror and adrenaline still running through her body. She felt arms holding her to a warm and familiar chest and she immediately relaxed. Tommy. She was in Tommy's arms. His hands were roaming her body and she realized what he was doing- she must have gotten hurt and he was helping her heal.
"I'm glad you're awake," Tommy whispered as she cuddled in closer to him and he let out a chuckle. "We're not going to be able to stay here long. One of Bobby's contacts is holding off telling the FBI that we got brought in here."
"Jesus…" Kim muttered as she stared at the ceiling. She couldn't believe that the FBI would really be interested in them. "Tommy- thank you."
"I can't let you die. I can't do…" Tommy trailed off as the door was thrown open and they both looked up to see Dean standing there. "Dean?"
"That werewolf was a scout. We got a heads up from some other hunters that there is a pack coming after you. We have to move," Dean said as Tommy hopped out of bed and threw back on his shirt. Kim started removing various I.V.s and Dean was shocked at how efficient they were. Their complete composure let him know just how many times they had done something like this in the past. "Can you walk?"
"I got her," Tommy said as he scooped her up and she winced, but just leaned into him. "How did they know where we were?"
"We caught another one- we'll ask it what it knows. Once we get you out of here," Dean stated as he held his shotgun down next to his side and Tommy quickly followed after him. He watched as Kim summoned a blaster and he took in a steady breath. Thank goodness she was a better shot than he was. "We're going in Baby. Sam and Bobby are heading out a different way- hopefully that'll distract the pack from your scent."
"Our…our scent?" Kim blurted out as he felt the shock ripple through her. He was pretty shocked by it as well, but he didn't really have time to process it as he was exhausted. Healing her drained him, even if he had never told her that. For the first time ever, he felt that he may have taken it too far. He slid her into the back seat and collapsed next to her as Dean sped off into the night. "Tommy?"
"Pushed too much," Tommy muttered as he took in several deep breaths. Kim and Dean locked eyes as she felt Tommy's cheek and realized how clammy he was as he clutched her hand. "I'll be fine. It's happened before."
"You have to stop saving me," Kim said as he just shook his head and leaned against her. She locked eyes with Dean again and he silently asked if Tommy was going to be fine. A knowing look passed between the two of them and Dean floored it to put as many miles between them and the wolves that were hunting them as he could. He knew enough of what that look in her eyes meant, he had sported it far too many times himself.
"He sleeping?" Dean asked as Kim nodded. She'd settled Tommy into her lap hours ago and had been fading in and out of consciousness herself. He knew that she was exhausted, but she also was trying so hard to stay awake with him for what was going on. "Sam just called- they managed to shake their tail and I've not seen anyone following us. We're getting close to a safe house."
"Good. We both need rest, real rest," Kim said as Dean nodded. He was starting to understand that using their powers came with a price, a price that had definitely been left out in the show. "And food."
"I've got a couple burgers up here if you…" Kim dove over the front seat and grabbed the bag as Dean let out a laugh. He had thought that they might be hungry when they woke up, but he hadn't imagined this. "Okay then. I guess I'll be stopping to grab us some more before we're in for the night."
"Oh my god- you're a saint." Dean watched as the pleasure spread on her face and he just shook his head. There was something about the life they lived that made him feel like they lived their lives to the fullest. Like she would be this way about food, sex, anything that gave her pleasure and it was such a relief to see. "His favorite is Taco Bell- if we see one."
They pulled up to the cabin and Kim noticed how deep the snow had to be here. It had started to come down again about a half hour ago and as Dean carefully steered them as close to the cabin as possible, she felt Tommy stirring. It was better if he was able to walk himself in.
"Where…" Tommy croaked as she passed him a bottle of water and he took a few thirsty gulps. "Fucking snow."
"I know. I never thought I'd miss California, but this is getting old," Kim whispered as she watched him and he stretched. "Sam and Bobby beat us here, but it's just a bare bones safe house."
"We're not sleeping in a cave tonight- I'm good," Tommy said as he looked up to see Dean watching them carefully. "What?"
"You're not freaking out about the werewolf thing?" Dean asked as Tommy just shrugged. He had known that they were right to be concerned at the attention they would attract and he had seen how easily the werewolf could be taken out. "If you tell me that you've seen worse…"
"So you want us to lie?" Kim asked as she pushed Tommy towards the door, ready to get out and stretch her body. She had had emergency surgery and had then been cooped up in a car for hours. She needed to move. She immediately regretted it as she was hit by the blustery wind and the thin hospital gown did nothing to protect her. Tommy immediately moved to shield her and the three of them trudged through the snow up to the cabin.
"He's not talking," Bobby said as he opened the door and Kim and Tommy saw a man chained to a chair, but the thick hair on his arms and the color of his eyes shocked them. "Well- he wasn't talking before he changed."
"Fascinating," Tommy muttered as he walked closer and Kim saw the scientist coming out in him. He would study every creature in this world if they stayed here long enough.
"Hey idjit, back up. We need him alive to figure out why they're coming after you," Bobby said as Tommy looked up at him and just shook his head. "You really want to tangle with a werewolf again?"
"No. I already know why they're coming after us though. Lipretere said he had some sort of pull on all these…things…and until we get to him- they're going to come straight for us," Tommy stated as Kim walked back in one of his new shirts and he caught the look in her eyes. Neither of them could let these men get hurt for them. Once this storm broke- they were going to have to go their separate ways. "After this storm breaks, you won't have to worry about us anymore. We'll be tracking down Lipretere."
"How can you even do that?" Sam asked as Tommy pointed to his computer and he looked back at him. "What did you do to my computer?"
"He didn't just build a system to track angel radio," Kim stated as she shook her head as a smile spread across her face. "You're brilliant."
"I had some time," Tommy quipped as Sam pulled up the tracker and realized what else Tommy had programmed into it. "I need sleep and food, not in that order. Did I see Taco Bell?"
