The Future's Young Fingerprint

Lumiouse City, Kalos. July 23rd 2023, 9:30pm.

A blue eyed brunette walked down the streets of Lumiouse, licking her rosy lips as she daydreamed of the bakery she was currently headed toward. Her eyes flickered with delight as she approached the quaint bakery. Deciding she couldn't wait any longer, she practically ran up to the counter.

"Hi there. How can I help you today?"

The cashier said, pushing her blonde locks behind her ear. The brunette smiled at the girl. "Hi there, can I please have a chocolate croissant, a pecha pastry, a slice of oran berry cheesecake, and a tamato and blueberry tres leches cake?" The brunnette recited cheerfully. The blonde's eyes widend for a second, before she smiled at the brown haired girl, and rang up her order, and then went off to collect the goods requested. "That'll be $36.81." The blue eyed girl thanked her, and left her a good tip, before leaving the bakery, skipping back to the Pokémon Centre.

The bag full of pastries was soon empty, each one of the delicacies having been consumed by the lively brunette who was now practically bouncing off the walls from a major sugar rush. After about an hour, the brunette had flopped down on the bed, tired, as a headache started to take place.

The brunette groaned inwardly, not wanting to make a sound, seeing it was almost 11pm. The splitting headache though, soon turned into what the girl comprehended as a voice, before she fluttered her eyes closed, trying to make the headache go away by getting some sleep.

The voice though, didn't give up. She heard the voice whisper something to her, before she fell asleep. She walked along a blank space. "Hello?" Her voice echoed uncertainly. "Hello there May Maple of Petalburg." Said girl gasped in recognition. "You're that voice from earlier!" She said in an almost accusingly. "Ah…Yes." The voice replied, sweat dropping a little.

"What is this place?" The girl voiced out in wonder, twirling around as she did so. "You, my dear, are at the start of a time portal." The voice explained. "You have to go to the future. They need your help, along with your friends'." "My help?!" May said incredulously. "Yes, your help." The voice replied, a little impatient. "But… what can I do to help? And who are the friends of mine that'll be there? And what about the contest I'm supposed to be entering after a couple of days? I have to beat Drew! What about my parents? And what ab-"

"One at a time, please!" the voice boomed. May immidiatly silenced, hanging her head down, her ears red from embarassmemt.

The voice sighed."To answer your questions, you will find out who your friends are and what you can do when you go to the future. As for your contest, I'm sorry to say, you'll have to skip it. For your parents, I'd suggest forgetting about them until you get back from the future." May looked up, her features no longer burning red. "What about Max? I'm supposed to meet him and his girlfriend at noon tomorrow." The voice hesitated. "I…guess I could tell you this…" The voice trailed off. "Tell me what, exactly?" The girl demanded, folding her arm across her chest while raising an eyebrow.

The voice sighed again. "Your brother Max and his girlfriend are also going to be supporting you on your journey." May unfolded her arms, putting them back by her side. "Oh. Okay then." She muttered. "Your not mad?" the voice asked, slightly amazed. "Why would I be?" The brunette asked, tilting her head slightly. "Nevermind that." The voiced ushered hastily.

"Anyhoo, back to our main point," the voice said, hurrying now. "You'll wake up in a few hours, in the future, so get some rest until then." The voice said before it left completely, leaving May to sleep in peace.

Lumiouse City, Kalos. July 24, 2023, 12:33am.

A green haired coordinator tossed and turned in bed, not bothering to pull the sheets up as they slid off of him, scrunching up into a pile next to the bed.

The green haired boy opened his emerald pupils, only to find himself in the middle of a white space that seemed to be endless. The coordinator's mouth went slightly agape as he took in his surroundings. "Hello there Drew Hayden of Larousse City." came a voice from behind him. Drew whipped his head around, looking for the source of the voice.

"Who said that?!" "Me, of course." the voice snickered. Drew carefully started stepping backwards, his fists clenched, ready to fight for himself, if needed.

"You know, you should really loosen up," the voice said. Drew could almost hear the smirk in the voice's tone. "Why am I here?" He said, drawling out each word carefully, while maintaining his defensive posture. His emerald eyes angriliy glaring at the white void. "To go to the future to help." the voice said. Drew's posture didn't falter, though his expression gave him away. "Huh?" The voice chuckled slightly in disbelief.

"You know, I'm surprised you're in love with May of all people." the voice pondered, as Drew felt his cheeks warming up at the mention of the brunette in this context. "I'd think somebody like you would pick someone more timid and shy, but then again, as the old saying goes, Opposites attract." The voice spoke thoughtfully.

"Why am I here?!" A red faced Drew shouted, embarrassed.

"Oh, yes," the voice replied hurriedly, as if losing time. "So…" The voice explained to Drew as to why he's here and answered a few of his questions. About ten minutes later, the voice had left him alone to sleep.

Somewhere near Lumiouse City, Kalos. July 24, 2023, 1:26am.

"She's going to be so surprised!" a bluenette squealed as she walked ahead of her travelling companions, who were lagging behind. "Stop going ahead Troublesome." a voice called out from behind her. Her cheeriness immediately vanished as she turned around with a scowl on her face. "IT'S DAWN!" she seethed.

"Come on Dawn, can't we rest for the night? It's like one am!" A raven-haired boy groaned. "Yeah listen to Ash! Come on please?" Another boy with almost dark green haired begged, giving her a pout. Dawn looked down at the dark teal haired teen, and smiled, sheepishly giving in. "Fine." She agreed. "Yes!" A blonde cheered. Dawn, Ash, the dark teal haired boy, the blonde girl, and a dark violet haired boy all set up their sleeping bags next to a campfire they had put together a few minutes ago.

As everyone layed down on their sleeping bags, "Guys," the blonde called. "Where is Dawn?" Everyone looked at their surroundings: a forest with a cliff nearby overlooking Lumiouse City.

"There." the violet haired teen pointed towards the cliff, the lights of the city solidifying a silhouette. Sure enough, it was the navy haired girl, sitting at the edge of the cliff, illuminated by the moonlight.

"Thanks Paul!" the blonde said, as she went ahead to get Dawn. "Hn" he grunted before pulling his sleeping bag over him him and falling asleep next to the other males who had already drifted off to sleep earlier.

"Dawn?" Came a soft voice. Dawn turned her head. "Hey Bonnie." she greeted before looking back down to the city. Bonnie followed her gaze. "Is something wrong?" Bonnie asked. Dawn who had seemed to be in a daze until now, looked up. "Hmm? Oh, yeah. I'm fine." she replied. "It's just…" The blonde gave her an encouraging look. The navy haired girl sighed, her dark blue eyes softening as she looked up in the sky.

"I just see you, and Max," she nodded towards the dark teal haired teen. "and I can just see the love between you two." The bluenette fiddled nervously with her fingers. "It makes me wonder, you know?" she paused, turning her head to look at the younger girl. "Am I going to find someone who loves me the same?" She said, now locking her bluebell eyes with Bonnie's sky blue ones.

"Well," Bonnie started, trying to bite down a smirk. "Are you sure that there's not anybody that would be a good match for you? Maybe someone with purple hair?" She said nudging the bluenette, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.

Dawn blushed heavily as she turned to her side to hide her grin. "Shut up.." she scolded Bonnie half-heartedly, while trying to swat away her shoulder.

Bonnie smiled for a second, before the moment was interrupted by a yawn from the younger girl.

Dawn glanced at the girl, before standing up and offering her hand. "Come on, let's go back to camp." She said as she pulled Bonnie up to her feet. The two then went back to the campsite, each taking a sip of water before crawling into their sleeping bags.

Soon enough, the entire group started feeling a huge headache coming on, along with an occasional whisper of an unfamiliar voice.

They need you.

Hearthome City, Sinnoh. July 24th 2023, 2:43 am.

A long haired brunette looked over her notes again, rubbing her temple, washing her face every once in a while, to try to keep herself awake. 'No, Leaf. Don't fall asleep.' she would remind herself every now and then.

The green eyed brunette started getting tired, her eyes threatening to close to fall asleep as she tried to force them awake. Giving up, she was about to head to bed, when a knock on the door ushered her back to her senses.

"Leaf?"

Came a muffled voice from the door. Said girl sighed as she walked to the door.

"What ,Gary?" She demanded, arms folded, lack of sleep making her grouchy, as she faced a brunet with spiky hair at the door. Gary copied her actions, folding his arms as well as he leaned on the doorframe. "Why are you not asleep?" he asked.

"I could ask you the same thing."

"I asked you first though, didn't I?"

Leaf groaned, too tired to argue. "Fine then. I was studying for tomorrow's test." she replied. "What about you?" Gary pushed himself off of the doorframe. "I was studying for the test, before I felt hungry, and then went to grab myself something to eat." he said. "That's nice, but I would very much like to go to sleep, so bye!" She said slamming the door in his face, before heading to bed, feeling a headache coming on.

Gary stood outside the door dumbfounded, before shaking himself out of his daze and chuckling slightly, making his way back to his room, before getting into bed.

Suddenly, he felt a headache swallowing his thoughts.

They need you.

Cerulean City, Kanto. July 24th 2023, 3:12 am.

A ginger haired woman put back the files in her drawer, feeling quite drowsy after a whole day of work. "Like, we're like, home, little sis," a voice called. "Lily, did you get the book that I asked for?"

The ginger ran down the stairs, staring at the pinkette. "Which one was that again?" Lily asked as she sifted through the bags.

"Pokémon Healing in One Book." the redhead replied. "Oh yeah like, here it is!"

Lily held up the book triumphantly. The redhead smiled and thanked her sister, before turning to her blonde sibling.

"So… Daisy, how was your date with Tracey?"

She asked, smirking as her sister's face heated up.

"It was perfect," Daisy smiled dreamily. "He was so cute, and charming, and he was such a gentleman…" she rambled, the smile never leaving her face.

The redhead snickered under her breath. It was the first time her sister had practically fallen head over heels for someone. "What about you Vi?" The cerulean eyed redhead turned to her blue haired sister. "How was your shopping trip?"

"Like, oh my gosh, Misty, I like, almost forgot, I like, bought you something…" Violet said, rummaging through her shopping bags, she pulled out a yellow short sleeved, cropped hoodie, blue shorts, red sneakers, and a light blue backpack.

"Wow, thanks Vi, I love it!"

Misty grinned, tucking a few fiery ginger locks behind her ear. "Anyways, we should head to bed. It's already three am." Misty said, going up the stairs.

Daisy giggled a little and ran upstairs, still smitten from her date.

Lily and Violet just yawned and went upstairs to get some shut eye.

Misty entered her room and got into bed. Turning off the light beside her she drifted off to sleep, with only a small part of her head throbbing.

Misty examined the place: A white void. She turned her head to look for a way out. None. "Hello there." A voice bellowed. Misty snapped her head around, throwing a punch in the air. The voice stifled a laugh as it told Misty about her mission.

"But what about my sisters?" she questioned, a little unnerved.

"They'll be fine."

"No they won't! What if they think I ran away?!"

"Well, then, it's not my problem, now is it?"

Misty groaned. This voice was so infuriating! "Just remember…" the voice continued;

They need you.
