First arc: Misfortune emanation

At first, there was nothing for her, just dark horizons and an endless void stretching out to no end. There was no light for her to look for, just an endless void to look out to, she could not feel, she could not hear and she could not see in this void. One day she saw the light. It was warm and welcoming, she could hear it calling for her and she could see it constantly change from blue to yellow, red and green. She soon chased that light. After she went to the light she found herself in a room that was fitting for a child and could hear a boy crying. She turned around and found a very young boy sitting on the ground with injuries and bandages littering his body as he cried his heart out. The girl flicked her eyes around in the room in confusion as to why she was now located in a random chamber that looked like it belonged to the little boy sitting right in front of her.

"Why are you crying?" questioned the young girl with curiosity filling her black eyes. She wondered why she could feel her heartache as she stood there helplessly in front of the grief-stricken boy. Then began to wonder why this boy was injured and crying in the first place.

"Huh, what, who are you? Do you have a name?" questioned the sobbing boy who was still in shock by the mystery girl's sudden appearance in his room. Then began to think about why she was there in the first place.

The girl froze in shock and that shock turned into confusion, the question the boy asked her dawned on her and she quickly realized she wasn't even aware of who she was, where she was and why she was there in the first place. She was a nobody; she had no one, no life and no name. She couldn't answer this simple question and that made her feel horrified. Asphyxiated, she started hyperventilating. Her chest started tightening up in anxiety and she could feel tears welling up in her eyes, slow and shallow breaths came fast to her and soon after that she started to feel lightheaded.

"I-i don't know," the girl said as her voice started to break from sudden realization. She slowly felt her tears run down from her eyes to her cheeks and her vision slowly got blurry to the point where she could barely see the boy in front of her.

"Oh… no wait- I am sorry wait!! Since you don't have a name, how about I give you one?" The boy said reassuringly in an attempt to calm the girl down with a desperate tone.

"Really…?" The girl stopped sobbing in surprise, eyes now widened with tears glistening within them. She reflected within herself that this boy's motive was unknown as she reminded herself he was a stranger and could potentially be in danger. However, the idea he suggested entertained her.

"Yeah how about, how about hmmm?" The young boy sat there deep in thought about what name he should give the lady in front of him. He studied the girl's appearance carefully. He then began to admire her appearance as he saw how she was in a simple white dress and how her hair was ebony black it was long enough that it ended around her knees there was a streak of white that contrasts against it too there was also how her black eyes enchanted them a bit as they still glistened from her former tears. Then her skin was so pale you would have mistaken her for a ghost if you saw her.

"I GOT ONE!" The boy said, almost exploding with excitement as he bounced where he sat.

"Really?" Said the girl with some skepticism; confusion laced her face as she scrunched her eyebrows together clearly in doubt.

"Yakudoshi" The injured boy shouted in a suggestive tone as proud as if he was a detective who had just solved a mystery case.

"Ya-Ku-do-shi? Yakudoshi" She muttered to herself over and over, confirming and sounding out her brand new name to herself making sure to grasp the familiarity of her new alias.

As she said that the boy started shaking with overwhelming excitement with a glimmer in his eyes he was much better now than before when he was crying his eyes out.

"Yeah, that's it! great name right?" The boy shouted with unmatched enthusiasm, because for once in his life instead of bringing misfortune to others he was finally bringing fortune to someone.

As Yakudoshi watched the boy light up, the corners of her lips lifted into a sweet smile as she adoringly looked at him. Both of them started to celebrate her new name, by sharing a moment of happiness.

"So what's your name then?" Asked Yakudoshi eagerly, wanting to know who the mysterious boy was.

"My name is Kamijou Touma." The boy declared with a bright smile and shining eyes as he pointed to himself with his chest puffed out in unwavering confidence.

"Touma, Touma, Touma!" The girl shouted as her face curled up into a big smile. She almost tackled the boy when she went in for a hug.

"Thank you, Touma, thank you," The newly named Yakudoshi thought to herself as she could feel Touma's warmth and he could hear his heartbeat alongside hers. Yakudoshi felt like their souls were connected in some way. She couldn't put her finger on it but that didn't matter now what mattered was she was with him now and she wants it to stay like that.

This was the start of her journey with him as she watch him throughout his days, playing with him and talking with him he was the only one that can see her so his parents thought he had an imaginary friend but to him, she was real soon his days were now brighter than before until the incident that caused everything to go dark again the day that Touma got stab and Yakudoshi went out of control and destroyed everything in site this caused Touma to be brought to a hospital.

"Ugh what happened and where am I?" Touma groaned as he began to wake up, his head was in a haze, and his vision was slowly getting less blurry than before and found himself in a hospital room as he saw the machine monitoring his health. He had the windows on his right with the moon far above the sky wondering what happened, how long was he out he was there until he remembered.

"AHHH!!!!" As memories from before hit him like a train he remembered seeing his blood splattered on Yakudoshi's face, the smell of blood, the taste of iron that was in from the blood in his mouth and then he saw her go a dark bit, and finally, he saw chaos running rampant in the area, he felt like there was an earthquake happening, he felt the ground rumble furiously and could see the world crack apart. He was horrified at the sight of this destruction and dread that it may be connected to.

"Yakudoshi……. WAIT WHERE'S YAKUDOSHI!!" As he kept shouting like the child he is, as he worried about the whereabouts of his only friend. As his heart started to go out of control beating rapidly, he could feel his sweat covering his entire body and he couldn't breathe anymore from the stress from these recent incidents.

"Yakudoshi hey come out you're here right? You always come out when I ask, s-s-so please come out" Touma began to feel the coldness of this room, the silence in the air and he slowly felt his tears starting to go down his face then he started to cry his eyes out as once again Kamijou Touma the god of pestilence, the misfortune curse child is once again all alone.

Meanwhile with Yakudoshi

As she woke up to the white hospital ceiling she look to her side and saw the boy that was most precious to her, she was overjoyed that he was okay now but, to be honest, something felt off it was like a chill had gone up her spine as she didn't know why until she saw Touma wake up as she witnessed his panic attack something strange occurred he asked where she was.

"Touma, I am right beside you, why are you screaming, are you okay?" Yakudoshi was confused about the outburst; she didn't know why her precious Touma didn't notice her. She started to freak out as he shook the bed. Her eyes slowly started to grow wider as she questioned what was going on.

"T-T-Touma" Yakudoshi started to stutter and was getting worried about the situation going on with her and Touma the question of why he was not talking to her went across her mind.

"Touma!!!!!!" Yakudoshi got even more confused and worried as she saw the sorry State Touma was in which made her slowly start to cry as well as she felt her tears run down her face as she didn't know what was going on.

Back with Touma

"What's happening!?!?!?" Touma panicky shouted with confusion fitting for his situation and even felt like his throat was in pain due to all the confused shouting and screaming happening in such a short time.

"Touma!! Are you okay!?!?!?" Touma heard his parents come in shouting due to his shouting.

"MOM, DAD what's going on!?!?" Touma ask desperately, his confusion had caused a hurricane of thoughts to go on through his head as he started to look more and more confused and panicked he could feel his sweat covering his body.

"Touma, you're in the hospital right now because of the earthquake that happened. It's a miracle you didn't get hurt my baby boy," Shiina said with relief and worry embedded in her words.

"Really What was that?" Touma wondered what that dark thing he saw then was and what it had done to cause this mess in the first place, how it connects to Yakudoshi and what does this mean for him now.

Next Day

Touma was running away he couldn't bear it anymore he has lost a lot because of this damn misfortune of his he lost his childhood, lost his only friend, and any kind of normalcy and is now being sent out away from his family and away from Yakudoshi being send away all alone he couldn't bare it, he hated it he just wanted to have a good normal life damn it! Now he just wanted this to stop so he finally stopped running he could feel his lungs burning, his legs aching and his heart racing then he finally realized where he was. He found himself in a field of flowers as far as the eye could see, they were being shined upon by the setting sun, some were even being lifted by the cold wind in the air and for some reason he felt like he was meant to be here. For some reason it was like his soul was screaming to him, begging for him to be here.

"Hey Touma" Touma heard his name and recognizing the voice he turned to it immediately with wide eyes and on the brink of tears, even his legs almost gave out to the shock.

"Y-Y-Yaku" Touma stuttered and cried into her arms feeling her warmth as he drenched her shoulder with his tears.

"Yeah I am here but Touma you have to listen to me," Said Yakudoshi with a hurriedness in her voice as she held Touma's arms.

"O-Okay," Touma said with nervousness embedded in him as he spoke with a dried throat.

"I have to leave," said Yakudoshi with sadness flowing from her eyes. It felt like something was squeezing her heart, she didn't want to do this but she felt she had no other option.

"Wait, you just came back, why are you leaving?" Said Touma confusion invading his mind. "Aren't we gonna be together forever!?"

"Because i-" Yakudoshi couldn't even say it. She felt like she wanted to puke because of the words she had to say.

"Because what Yakudoshi!?" Touma cried. He was trying hard to let the floodgates loose.

"I don't have much of a choice Touma I'm sorry!" Yakudoshi said as more streams of liquid flowed down her pale shining cheeks.

"Wait please don't go I am begging you please you made my life so much better by just existing so please don't go I need you please I don't want to lose you so please just please don't go i-i-i love you Yaku," Touma said sobbing loudly as he felt like his world shattered like an illusion but he didn't care about that he just cared about her he didn't want to lose one of the only people that cared about him he just couldn't.

Yakudoshi's eyes went wide when she heard that but she had to be certain that she wasn't going crazy.

"Say that again?" Yakudoshi quietly asked but it was loud enough for the sobbing boy to hear.

"I love you Yakudoshi." Sniffing noises could be heard from the boy who was desperately wanting her to stay. The one bright light in his arguably dark world.

Yakudoshi had more tears streak down her face but they were not tears of sadness. No. They were tears of joy, and they seem to sparkle like gems.

"I love you too Touma," Yakudoshi said as she went up and embraced the crying, unlucky boy she cared greatly for. "I'll always love you."

"So please don't be sad I know you can do this I know you can push through this because you're the bravest person I know so please don't be sad I hate seeing you cry so please smile because this is not a goodbye it's a see you later," said Yakudoshi letting her tears stream down her face as cracks slowly start to appear on her body.

Touma broke away as Yakudoshi gave one more heartfelt smile, she then backed up not taking her gaze away from him, a small smile lined her lips all the while. She then spoke her last words.

"Promise me something, Touma." She said gently.

Touma looked up at her with his tear-stained eyes but he listened nonetheless.

"We will be together again….right?" Touma asked hesitantly.

"Of course Touma, just promise me, promise that you won't ever forget me." Asked Yakudoshi

Touma wiped his tears as he said his final piece to her.

"I can never forget you…..Yaku."

As they hug each other Touma watches as his love slowly disappears in this beautiful flower field as this place and memories burn in his mind and when she fully disappeared all he could feel now was the cold harshness of reality encased into him as he said goodbye to her until they see each other again.

After this happened Touma left that place and went back home to his parents while vowing to keep his promise to Yaku and as he walked down the sidewalk he heard his name being called.

"TOUMA THERE YOU ARE!!!!!" Shouted Shiina as she almost tackled Touma when she hugged him.

"Mom, Dad?" Touma said in a dejected tone and overall tired from the recent events that unfolded the past two days.

"Touma are you okay?!??" Touya asks and is worried enough to almost stop breathing as he made Touma stop breathing by hugging him.

"Yeah," Touma said with an empty stare and an empty heart he didn't want to talk, he didn't want to think he just wanted to sleep because he just didn't care about anything right now he just wanted to go home and sleep and forget about how screwed up his life and how much this world and universe as a whole despises his existence and, to be honest, he would just want to forget that but he couldn't he promise Yakudoshi so he can't break that promise he has to keep it for her so he'll keep going but now he just wanted to sleep.

"Let's go home okay." Said Touya figuring out through his stare alone that he didn't want to deal with anything right now and was tired.

"Okay." Said Touma as they walked home he felt like he lost a piece of himself to this cruel place and his cruel luck.

When Touma arrived home he felt a cold air when entering his room and remembered meeting Yakudoshi for the first time. The first friend he ever had, The first person to not be scared or hated him and most importantly his first love. This caused his already broken heart to break even further as he started to cry once more as he lay on his bed and as he cried himself to sleep.

Touma had a dream that night, a dream of a possibility, a dream of the future, a dream filled with hope. Hope that he can see Yakudoshi and hope that their reunion is a happy one. As a misfortune innocent child held onto that hope and wish of their reunion.

Next Day

Touma was still in a daze with everything going on his morning went so fast yet so slow for him in his half-awake state it took some time for him to realize that he was in the car and heading to the airport they were leaving or more accurately he was leaving being sent to a place called academy city. He didn't know what to do anymore and as he passes through the airport and boarded a plane the overwhelming feeling of sadness went over him as he knew this will be the last week he see his parents for a while and as he finally became fully awake to the world around him he was already at academy city and marvel at everything around him the building's that scarp the sky, the machines that scurry around the streets and the thing that stood out to him the most though was the windowless building they passed by because for some odd reason that building holds a sense of familiarity in his mine like he's been there but before he could think of anything he was stopped from thinking anything else as they made to their destination

"Touma we're here!!" Touya said as he was getting out of the car to check out where Touma will be living from now on

"Oh really," said Touma with a hint of sadness coming from him as he breathed in the air and breathed. He knew that this was the start of his new life, a new beginning for him or at least he hopes so.

Many years later

As the years passed on our misfortune-ridden boy has been through a lot of trials and hurdles over the years with likes of losing memories, helping people, saving the world and fighting the world. As he came back from the whole incident with his other self and how many problems he caused Touma began to relax as he hung out with his understander othinus and his glutton of a friend index as they walked through this technology-filled city to get some food and by some tiny miracle, by some tiny chance and by some twist of fate a certain calamity-ridden gothic dress girl was walking through the city as well and soon both of their paths will collide once more.

Because unknown to him this was the start of something beautiful, something misfortune ridden. He would learn how entangled this girl would be in his life and he would learn how much darkness this world has but for now he would learn that she was his.

Beautiful misfortune.
