Disclaimer: Oop, we're back into the crossover stories with disclaimers that require more than one property. The ownership of My Hero Academia is likewise simple: the entire thing belongs to Kōhei Horikoshi. Blizzard owns Hana Song, Overwatch, and all other related aspects of the property. Not mine, don't sue, and so forth and so on.
Summary: "Say hello to your new classmate, Midoriya Izumi!" Not to be a lesbian, but... oh my fucking God. Oh my God. Jesus fucking Christ. Oh my God. Fucking shit Jesus fuck oh my fucking Jesus fucking Christ. God in heaven. Holy fucking shit.
Tara's Note: Another Reddit request even after I tried to stop doing them because I had bigger projects to worry about. But Fragment72 wanted an Overwatch/My Hero Academia crossover and I immediately had an idea that would not leave me alone until I wrote it. So this story was born. I'm going to get back to Ex Astris Gloria as soon as I'm done with this, I swear to God.

"I am... here! Coming through the door like a hero!"
Jirou Kyouka sat up a bit straighter in her seat as All Might lunged through the open door, his cape billowing behind him. The class erupted into chatter around her, but by now she was beyond good at blocking out unwanted noise. Up to a certain volume, at least. She watched as he strode confidently over to the podium, her eyes wandering over his Silver Age costume. Someone had mentioned that it was retro, but that was something she was into so she didn't mind.
Having All Might standing in front of her finally brought home that she was going to be training to be a hero in a way that literally nothing yet had. Fucking around with a quirked version of MEXT's standard fitness tests? Kinda fun, but it was the sort of thing that a more lax physical education teacher might have allowed. Their morning full of core classes? More of what she'd been doing for the last nine years. But this... this was the real thing. She was at UA High School in the hero course. She was going to be a hero someday.
"Welcome to the most important class at UA High! Think of it as Heroing 101! Here you will learn the basics of being a pro, and what it means to fight in the name of good! Let's get into it!" Flexing, All Might thrust his arm out toward the class to display an almost comically undersized card that read 'BATTLE' across it in large bold letters. "Today's lesson... will pull no punches!"
Fuck. Was it too late to drop out of high school and just become an idol like her parents wanted her to? It would probably result in being punched a whole lot less.
Pulling her from her thoughts, the card mysteriously disappeared from All Might's hand as he whirled around and gestured dramatically at the west wall of the classroom. "But one of the keys of being a hero is... looking good!" Kyouka sat up a bit straighter as racks slid out of a recessed compartment in the wall to display a series of numbered suitcases. These were designed for you based on your quirk registration forms and the requests you sent in before school started. Get yourselves suited up, and meet me at Training Ground Beta!"
There was a soft cough that only Kyouka and Mezo Shoji caught among the clamor of the students rushing toward their costume cases, the purple-haired girl looking over at the doorway of the classroom where Aizawa was standing with a girl that Kyouka shouldn't have recognized... but did. All Might glanced over, did a double take, and then promptly held his hand up to silence the class. "Students! Some of you may have noticed that there have only been nineteen of you in class so far. That is because... you have a third recommendations student! There were some delays transferring all of her equipment here from Kasumigaseki, but like me... she is here!" Gesturing to the door, he beckoned for the girl to enter. "Say hello to your new classmate, Midoriya Izumi!"
Not to be a lesbian, but... oh my fucking God.
Oh my God.
Jesus fucking Christ.
Oh my God.
Fucking shit Jesus fuck oh my fucking Jesus fucking Christ.
God in heaven.
Holy fucking shit.
She was going to be in a class with Midoriya Izumi? Before she could properly process the revelation, Kyouka jumped as Shoji reached out to rest a hand on her shoulder. "Your heart rate is through the roof and you're breathing fast." The masked boy looked her up and down slowly before tilting his head to the side curiously. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I'm good. Just... having a bit of a gay panic moment." Kyouka tapped her jacks together nervously as she looked over at where Midoriya was still standing in the doorway, waving excitedly to the class. How the fuck was she supposed to go to class with the literal source of her sexual awakening? She was going to be expected to socialize with this girl. Probably eat lunch with her, given that all of the girls except Uraraka Ochako had clumped together for lunch for the last two days. Oh no. They were going to be sharing a locker room and stuff. Midoriya was going to be getting undressed literal feet away from her.
Reaching up, Kyouka wiped away the stray drop of blood slowly dripping from her nose. Jesus Christ, she was so fucking screwed.
Midoriya Izumi struck a heroic pose even as Aizawa let out a faintly exasperated groan. "I can't wait to face off against some of you today. You'd better bring your best, though, because... I play to win!"
Grinning stupidly, Kyouka clapped her hands together excitedly. Oh my god, that was one of her favorite Z00mie quips. She felt something bump against her leg and she looked down to find Mineta Minoru standing there with a knowing expression on his face. "So, I see that you are also a woman of culture." Before she could deny it - because really, who wanted to have anything in common with Mineta - he puffed his chest up proudly. "I'm in for fifteen thousand yen a month on her Twitch. Yourself?"
Fifteen thousand yen? When they were in high school? Damn. That was... actually sort of impressive. Kyouka hesitantly held her hand up with her fingers an inch or so apart. "Less. I wrote her a song, though."
Mineta's eyes widened. "Wait, is it the song that she uses when she runs credits at the end of her streams?" Kyouka nodded proudly; she had been surprised as hell to hear it the first time she watched one of Z00mie's streams all the way to sign off, but she'd started staying on just to see her user name pop up on the screen each time. "Fuck. That song actually slaps. I have it on my phone. You're a really good singer, Jirou."
"Thanks." Making her way over to the costume cases, Kyouka sought out case twelve before noticing that case nineteen wasn't located somewhere that Mineta could reach. Not that she particularly liked him or anything, but kind of a dick move on the school's part. Reaching up, she retrieved his case and handed it off to him before glancing over at the doorway. Midoriya had disappeared and some of her classmates were making their way out the door as well. "Listen, if you tell anyone about this, I'll claim you hacked my phone or shit... but catch me after class and I'll give you my LINE info. Since, you know, we have a common interest and all."
Mineta's eyes widened and then he looked around furtively. "Your secret is safe with me." Offering her a thumbs up, he scuttled off after the rest of their class, leaving Kyouka as the last student in the room other than All Might. Who was staring at her curiously. Jerking, Kyouka blushed and ducked her head as she rushed out of the room. God, she was literally too gay to function at the moment. She seriously needed to get her shit together.
Hurrying down the hall, Kyouka caught sight of Hagakure Tooru's empty uniform passing through a door that she assumed had to be the girl's locker room. Following close behind, the purple-haired girl rushed through the doorway... and then caught sight of Midoriya pulling her skirt down over her hips to reveal her pale, perky ass. Eyes widening, she promptly tripped over the nearest bench and slammed face first into the floor.
"Oh no! Jirou!" Hurrying over, Yaoyorozu Momo helped her back to her feet... which left Kyouka at face level with the ravenette's shirtless chest. Fuck! Was there anywhere in this entire locker room that was safe to look? Before she could escape, Momo looped an arm through Kyouka's and looked back and forth between the purple-haired girl and Midoriya. "Last but not least, let me introduce you to-"
Midoriya turned to face them, absently unbuttoning her uniform blouse as she smiled at Kyouka and Momo. "Jirou Kyouka." Jerking at the sound of her name - a name that Midoriya should have had absolutely no way of knowing - Kyouka opened her mouth only to be cut off by Midoriya elaborating. "You use the same user name on literally everything. I got curious after heartsong at gmail dot com sent me a link to a song by Heartsong on SoundCloud. Found Heartsong on Instagram and Heartsong on TikTok and, uh, Heartsong on Tumblr." Grinning impishly, Midoriya winked at Kyouka. "Let's not talk about that one."
Kyouka's eyes went wide. Oh fuck. She posted some really, really thirsty thoughts on Tumblr. The service was still affectionately known as a 'hell site' over two centuries after its founding, with a small but loyal population of users and an substantial LGBT presence. Surrounded by equally gay and useless peers, Kyouka had been lulled into a false sense of security and posted... a lot of stuff. Among other things, she'd posted a haiku about Midoriya's ass that had like, eleven thousand notes on it. It was quite possibly the post that she was best known for on there.
And Midoriya had seen it. Fucknuggets.
At least Midoriya seemed amused by the whole thing rather than offended by it? The verdette was still smiling at her, and it seemed like a genuine smile instead of a condescending or fake one. Kyouka raised two fingers to her temple and saluted casually. "Yo. That's me. You worked the song into your stream. Which... did not expect. Not mad, though. As a fan, it's cool to be recognized by a celebrity that way."
Continuing to look back and forth between Kyouka and Midoriya, Momo furrowed her brow. "A celebrity? Are you famous then, Midoriya? I'm afraid to admit that I don't recognize you, but my own areas of interest are primarily in the STEM fields due to the nature of my quirk. So unless you invented something noteworthy, I probably wouldn't recognize you."
"Wait, I knew you were sheltered but... do you not know who 'Z00mie' is?" Kyouka turned to look at Momo in disbelief. Then her eyes drifted down to Momo's uncovered chest, lingered for a few seconds, and then jerked upward guiltily. "Midoriya Izumi is the current top ranked streamer on all of Twitch. Which is impressive because she streams in Japanese and most of the world... doesn't speak Japanese? She became famous for her Starcraft 7 streams but gained new followers and notoriety when the National Police Agency selected her as the inaugural pilot for their new MEKA program."
Frowning, Momo mouthed 'Z00mie' to herself before shaking her head slowly. "I'm vaguely aware of 'streaming' but I've never personally indulged in watching one. I'm simply too busy to dedicate time to simply... sitting around watching someone else do something. I'm equally unfamiliar with 'Starcraft 7', although based on context, I can deduce that it's a video game of some kind. On the other hand, I am familiar with the MEKA program. The NPA and the NPSC contracted me to create the armor plating for their project."
Midoriya perked up at that. "You're the one who made the armor for Usagi? That's super cool. Nobody's ever been able to properly explain what she's made of to me, but that would make sense if you have some kind of super cool quirk that made the metal or something." She offered Momo a peace sign before turning back to Kyouka. "Everyone else can call me Midoriya or Z00mie. You, though, can call me Izumi. It's only fair after how much money you've given me."
Blushing, Kyouka squirmed in place as everyone in the room turned to stare at her curiously. Ashido Mina came bounding over, invading Kyouka's personal space, and holy shit was she the only person still wearing a shirt in the room? "Do my ears deceive me? Do we have a simp in our midst?"
Kyouka buried her face in her hands, partly out of embarrassment and partly to keep from staring at Mina's half-naked body. "Please don't call me a simp. I'm just... someone who appreciates the entertaining comment that Izumi makes."
"She's totally a simp. Not only does she tip me monthly on Twitch, but she's bought literally every single photo set that I've ever posted on my KoFi in the history of my account." Jerking her head up, Kyouka stared at Izumi with a betrayed expression as the verdette giggled and made a heart with her hands. "Not only do you sign your purchases as Heartsong, but shares your entire name and your email with anyone you tip or buy from. The more you know!"
Well, at least the grand total of people who had her information was two: Izumi and whoever WhereAreTheKnives was. That was sort of a relief. Kyouka sighed and squirmed out from between Mina and Momo, holding up her hands in surrender. "Okay, I'm kind of a simp. Can we talk about this after the battle trial? Or on the way to the battle trial? Can I get changed, please?"
Izumi grinned impishly and waved a dismissive hand as she turned back to her own costume case. Mina eyed Kyouka speculatively for a few seconds. "Am I cute enough to simp? Do you wanna buy stuff off my KoFi too?"
Before Kyouka could respond - in the affirmative, because Mina was absolutely gorgeous and she would gladly take the opportunity she was being offered - Asui Tsuyu let out a croak. "How do you feel about frog legs?"
"Okay, I am a useless lesbian with some extra funds and I'll probably support all of you online... but I really need to change." Reaching down, Kyouka grabbed her costume case and hugged it to her chest with a pleading expression on her face. "Please. We can talk about this... after I change."
The girls nodded agreeably and backed off, leaving Kyouka to open her case in peace. The contents were pretty much exactly what she expected: a peach colored shirt that was artfully torn in a few places in a very punk way, a black leather bolero jacket, white fingerless gloves, black pants, and thick soled black boots with speakers built into them for use with her quirk. Peering over her shoulder, Izumi made a thoughtful noise. "Hang on, lemme get something for you." Dashing over to her locker, the verdette dug around inside before hurling a bundle of fabric at Kyouka. "Swap that for the shirt they gave you."
Unballing the shirt, Kyouka grinned at the sight of Z00mie's bright green and white logo splashed over a black shirt. Paired with her black jacket, black pants, and black boots, the overall effect would be a bit more goth than she generally preferred... but how could she say no to free merchandise from her crush? Looking over at Izumi, she did her best not to trip over her words as she grinned at the verdette. "Trying to mark your territory now that you have competition?"
"We're doing some sort of team activity, or at least that's what Aizawa implied when we went out to Training Ground Beta and dropped off Usagi." Izumi gestured back and forth between herself and Kyouka. "You're the only person here that I don't know less than nothing about. So I'm picking my teammate before anyone else snatches you up."
Oh, right. If Izumi had scooped out her social media - and that was a little weird but mostly flattering - then she knew a decent bit about Kyouka's quirk. More than she knew about anyone else's quirk, that was for sure. Hesitantly pulling her blazer off and then her blouse, Kyouka glanced from Izumi's chest to Momo's - and then over at Mina's for good measure - before peering down at her own chest and sighing. Did she even need the sports bra? It wasn't like she had much to contain. Swapping bras anyway, she hurriedly tugged on the Z00mie t-shirt before going to work on her skirt. "So Izumi, you know what my quirk is but what exactly is yours? You've never really talked about it on stream, but most of us fans think it's got to be some kind of intelligence quirk, or possibly an analytical quirk from how dominant you are in Starcraft."
Izumi looked up from where she was checking the outsides of her thighs, which were liberally festooned with the logos of... sponsors? Kyouka recognized some of the logos as major companies, including the Nano Cola that Izumi habitually drank on her streams. "My quirk? Oh, I don't talk about one because I don't have one. That's why the negotiations and deal-making for my enrollment stretched all the way past the first day of school. Legally speaking, you can't be a hero without a quirk and a mech isn't a quirk. That's part of what makes my project with the NPA so unique."
There was a clatter as Ochako bounced off the locker near her, hopping on one foot as she tried to tug her right boot on. "Oops. I should probably do this sitting down. But, uh, I'm kind of invested in this discussion. Quietly invested, but invested. If you're not going to be a hero - or can't be a hero - then why are you here at UA with us in the hero course?"
"Basically, Usagi and I are being test driven as a new way of policing criminality in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The police are still expected to clean up any crime where quirk use isn't immediately obvious, which is the threshold for villainy and the deployment of heroes." Reaching into her case, Izumi hefted a chunky pistol and posed with it. "That's where the idea for the division that I'll be spearheading came from. The best gamers in the country were tested across a wide spectrum of games and the winner was given control of a bleeding edge mech to help fight crime."
Clapping her gloved hands together, Tooru probably nodded but, uh, invisible. "Okay but that doesn't explain why you're here with us. Not that we're not happy to have you, far from it. I think I just speak for most of us intellectually mediocre students when I ask... why are you here?"
Izumi set her pistol down so that she could go back to working on her costume. "To be frank, UA High has better resources than the National Police Academy. I'll be doing practicals with you, core classes with you, and then theoretical lessons will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes I'll sit in with the rest of you if it's something relevant to my future. Other times, I'll be working independently with a tutor from the Academy."
That made a lot of sense. These days, the hero academies were some of the best funded institutions in the country, especially UA High and Shiketsu. And given that the National Police Agency and the Hero Public Safety Committee were sister agencies under the auspices of the National Public Safety Committee, it made sense for them to be asked to collaborate on Izumi's training, even if the relationship between heroes and police was often... tense.
Changing into the lower half of her costume, Kyouka bounced on her toes to test the fit of her new boots - which was excellent - before looking around. Izumi caught her eye and turned her back to the purple-haired girl. "Wanna zip me up?"
Staring at the tantalizing glimpse of Izumi's bare back, Kyouka nibbled her lower lip anxiously as she slowly approached the taller girl. "Are you trying to kill me?"
Izumi grinned back over her shoulder at Kyouka. "I'm no enjo kosai girl but at this point, I feel like you've kind of earned it?" Reaching back, she pulled her hair up out of the way to avoid getting it caught in the zipper. "Come on, you know you want to."
"She's blushing so cutely. This is fun." Tooru's gloved hands rose to her cheeks as she watched the encounter. "Now I wish I had a costume so I could ask her to zip it too."
Bouncing over to where Momo was pulling on... Kyouka's eyes went wide. Where was the rest of her costume? Was that... it? Mina gestured to the ravenette's back. "I see another zipper in need of zipping. Although I'm with Tooru: sadly zipper-free over here, so I can't get in on the teasing."
Kyouka shook her head before reaching in and slowly tugging Izumi's zipper upward from the small of her back all the way to the nape of her neck. Was this her life now? Just... cute girls teasing her constantly? She could think of worse things, mind you, but it was a far cry from her junior high experience. Seeing as how Momo wasn't actually asking for help, the purple-haired girl decided to ignore Mina's suggestion and gestured to the other main doorway in the room. "Should we maybe get to class?"
The other girls nodded agreeably and so Kyouka led the way out of the locker room. Then she paused, staring out at the multiple fake cities arrayed in a row in front of them. Which was... she sighed thankfully as Izumi slipped past her and took point, leading them toward Training Ground Beta. Considering she'd been there already that morning, it made sense that she of all people knew where she was going.
Sure enough, Izumi led them unerringly to where All Might was waiting just inside the gate for Training Ground Beta, the large man poking curiously at the brilliantly pink mech that was sitting nearby. When he noticed that they'd arrived, he whirled around and offered them an exuberant thumbs up. "They say that clothes make the pros, young ladies and gentlemen, and behold! You are the proof! Take this to heart: from now on, you are all... heroes-in-training!"
Kyouka looked around curiously. The girls all had... considerably sexier costumes than her. Lots of skin tight going around with the exception of her and... no, literally just her. Damn. Maybe she could trade her long shirt for a crop top or something? She wasn't unfond of her stomach. And maybe trade the pants for shorts? She wasn't really a melee combatant; if they were close enough that her bare legs were a problem, she was already going to be having a bad time.
Oh and there were thirteen boys present, but who cared about them?
"This is getting me all revved up! You look so cool!" All Might put his hands on his hips, staring out over the assembled students. "Now, shall we get started, you bunch of newbies?" Then he paused, looking back at the mech. "Although I'm not quite sure what to do with this particular twist. I was going to have you break into pairs and fight inside a building but, err, that is definitely not going to fit into any of the buildings in this training ground."
Bouncing forward, Izumi zipped past All Might and moved to stand by the pink mech. Was that... probably Usagi, based on their earlier discussion. "Idea! I'm supposed to be training to be a multiple criminal intervention unit. Group crimes. What if we take my team and two or three other teams? And we just fight it out in the streets? They're a group of bank robbers trying to get away and I have to intercept them?"
All Might looked from Izumi to the small piece of paper he was holding and frowned. "I had a really neat scenario written up for us, though." Sighing, he shook his head before assuming his typical bright smile. "But necessity is the mother of invention! Six on two seems like a bit much, even with your mech. Let's say... eight people... what about five on three? You can pick two teammates, you'll be pitted against the remaining five students, and that still leaves me with three groups of four to conduct indoor anti-personnel actions."
A sinking suspicion formed in Kyouka's gut as Izumi's bright green eyes immediately sought her out, a suspicion that was confirmed when the verdette pointed her way. "I'll take Jirou. And... hmm. Who else do I want on my team? I know that Yaoyorozu can make stuff? Which is more than I know about literally anyone else here? So I'll take her, too."
As Momo and Kyouka stepped forward to join Izumi in front of her mech, Mina called out to them. "Just remember guys, if it doesn't come from the Ménage à Trois region of France, it's just a sparkling threesome!"
Aoyama Yuuga nodded sagely at them. "Oui, this is something we take very seriously in my home country."
Giggling brightly, Izumi posed with her pistol and... was she literally chewing bubble gum during a heroics exercise? Kyouka watched in disbelief as she blew a bubble. "Let's do our best, ladies! We're the dream team: I'm the dream, and you're the team!"
"Well, we have our heroic team." Ignoring the byplay, All Might gave them a thumbs up - he did that a lot, Kyouka was already noticing - before turning back to the remaining seventeen students. "Who would like to try escaping with the spoils of their bank robbery?"
Shoving his way to the front, Bakugou Katsuki sneered over at... had they done something to offend him? Kyouka looked around uncertainly. He seemed awfully angry at them for no apparent reason. "You're still a quirkless nothing, even if you did convince someone to give you a big robot suit. I'm going to enjoy blowing you to bits."
O-kay. So there was evidently some kind of history between Bakugou and Izumi. Fun. Kyouka looked back and forth between the angry blond and the perky verdette. Failed romance, maybe? Or failed attempt at romance? The purple-haired girl smirked. He was probably a fellow simp who hadn't taken kindly to not getting a return on his investment and channeled his disappointment into irrational rage. What a fucking incel.
Hesitantly making his way forward, Kirishima Eijiro bumped his shoulder against Bakugou's as he took his place next to the blond boy. "You can't go around shouting at people for being quirkless, bro. That's quirkism and quirkism is super unmanly. But, uh, I'm kinda curious what that mech's guns can do against me, so I volunteer too."
"If I fight her, she might knock me over and accidentally step on me." Bounding forward, Mineta thrust his hand into the air eagerly. "Can I be part of the group?"
Kirishima looked over - and down, considerably - at Mineta. "Uh, bro, you do realize that she's going to be fighting in the mech, right? So if anything steps on you, it'll be the mech."
After considering that for a few seconds, Mineta shrugged negligently. "If I die, it will be a worthy death. Like if she sat on my face and broke my neck." Considering that she would absolutely let Izumi step on her, Mineta was possibly the most based person in their class. The mech... was taking things a little too far, but Kyouka could understand his overall enthusiasm.
"I doubt a quirkless girl would be an effective test of my strength, but Yaoyorozu might make a formidable opponent." Todoroki Shouto stepped forward, staring over at the group with a faintly contemplative expression. "I bested her at the recommended examination, but she was my better during the quirk assessment test. So I suppose this will have to be our tiebreaker?"
God damn, everyone was squaring up with their rivals all of a sudden. Todoroki had something against Momo, Bakugou wanted to fight with Izumi... Kyouka looked around uncertainly. Nobody wanted to pick a fight with her, right? As if summoned by her thoughts, Kaminari Denki stepped forward and shot finger guns at her. "This sounds like fun. Hey Jirou, any chance you'll let me comfort you on your loss after class? A café, maybe?"
Before Kyouka could respond - because first of all, presumptuous, and second of all just no - Mina darted forward and wrapped an arm around Kaminari's shoulders. "Wait, what's the best meme for this situation? Oh! I know! Kaminari, they're lesbians."
Izumi let out a laugh at that even as Kyouka blushed brightly, the verdette making a peace sign next to her face. "No bi erasure on my stream, please. But yeah, I'm pretty sure that Kyouka's gay and even if she was bi, I'm calling dibs. Go find your own."
Not to be deterred, Kaminari pointed at Izumi even as he brought his other hand up to his chest as he let out an outraged gasp. "Find my own? I've been here an entire day longer than you have! I found her first!"
"She's been simping me for eighteen months now! So nyah! I found her first and you can go find your own. Deal with it." Stepping forward, Izumi wrapped a possessive arm around Kyouka's shoulders. "Wanna be in the after action wrap up stream with me?"
Kyouka's jaw word soundlessly as she stared up at her crush in disbelief. Unlike a lot of streamers, Izumi literally never did collaborations; all of her streams were wholly and solely her. She was going to be the first ever person to appear on a stream with Izumi? "I... uh... yeah. That sounds super cool."
Throwing his hands up in the air, Kaminari sulked for a few seconds before abruptly shifting back to a smile. "I mean, I can't even be mad, you two are super cute together. I still wanna get in on this battle, though. How many people can say that they fought a police-grade crime suppressing mech on their second day of school?"
Uh, other than Kaminari? Four. Deciding not to voice that thought, Kyouka did her best to control her blush even as she snuggled a bit closer into Izumi's side. She had no idea why the girl was doing this, if it was all an act, or what... but she was going to milk things for every possibly once in a lifetime moment that she could get. Especially because Mineta looked like he was literally five seconds away from dropping dead of jealousy. After looking back and forth between the two teams speculatively, All Might grinned widely and gestured back over his shoulder. "Villain team, go stake out a building to use as the bank in this scenario. Hero team, I'll let you launch from the building that I had picked out for my exercise. Everyone else, head to the observation room and I'll be with you in a few minutes."
