Hey, I hope this sounds fine.

Prompt: sometimes a moment might be short, but it's long enough to illuminate a lifetime.

He looked out from his hiding spot and watched as fellow soldiers were fighting their enemy with everything they had as others fell to their deaths. His heart aches to see his friends sacrifice their lives for their country and knows he could be joining them once gets on the battlefield.

He put his hand in his pocket and put a small rock that had a smiley face drawn on it. Something his little girl Lucy gave him. Just staring he thinks about the time he sat at home with his arm around his wife as they sat on the sofa. His son, Peter, was listening to the radio with Edmund, and his daughter, Susan was playing a game with Lucy.

Squeezes the rock in his hand he runs out onto the battlefield. He may not remember what was on the radio or the game the girls were playing, only the love he felt being with them and that it was a moment he would fight for. Hoping that even if he never sees them again, they could still have those moments together.
