Unexpected Surprise

At the convention, Team Phantom were still enjoying the events. Granted, one of them chose to act differently.

"Now that Man-Dork and those dudes in the masks are gone, this is nice..." Danny said.

"In what world?" Sam said, still not happy to be here.

"Sam, enough. You chose to come here, so you can at least pretend to be having a good time..." Star said.

"That goes against Goth code..." Sam muttered, crossing arms bitterly.

"At this point, I think there is no Goth code, it's just you trying to justify having a lousy attitude." Star said.

"Ooh, she got you there." Tucker said, only to be met with Sam pulling his beret over his eyes.

As the teens kept walking around, someone was spying on them.

"What an ideal specimen..." The figure said, stroking their chin before looking to a wrist device. "Be ready." She ordered.

"Yes, my queen." A series of voices said from the device in response.

Meanwhile

The Elmerton Wolves' game today with the Amity Park Alligators. This was going to be Danielle and Wulf's first day on the job.

They were going past the lines to reach the inside.

"New mascot here, folks." Danielle said, assuring those looking he is no threat.

''Mi esperas, ke mi ne fuŝos ĉi tiun." Wulf said.

"I can't wait until we see Danny and Star soon." Danielle said with a smile, walking past someone.

Misty gasped, looking around upon hearing that name as Danielle and Wulf were gone.

"Danny?! With Star?! That can't be a coincidence, where are they?" She went as she looked around for him.

Her spell book glowed in her bag.

"I do not sense him. There are too many people in the way..." The spell book said.

Misty frowned at not seeing him.

"Star is probably with him somewhere else..." She said bitterly.

"Then perhaps we should get the two apart?" The spell book suggested.

"Way ahead of you..." Misty said, getting ideas as she opened her spell book and found what she was looking for.

"You wish to summon this one?" The book asks.

"Yup. I'll have to wait until the seventh inning though… this will take a while." Misty said.

''Seventh inning? How long does this game take?" He asked.

"How do you not know about baseball?" Misty asked.

"I am a spell book who has been in the family's basement since your ancestors migrated to America. Not exactly exposed to sports..." He said.

"Whatever. Like I said, this will take a while..."Misty said.

At the Convention

Sam and Tucker went to do their own things, leaving the lovebirds alone.

They saw the other cosplayers, which made Star stare at some of their costumes.

Huh. I gotta admit, some of these outfits are kinda cool and look well made. She thought as she saw an impressive looking space warrior costume.

Danny noticed her staring.

"Something up, Starlight?" Danny asked.

"Back when I was an A-lister, I used to make fun of people who did this with my so-called friends. I thought it was bizarre...but it looks kinda fun. I gotta admit...I almost regret that we didn't dress up too..." Star said.

Danny smiled when he heard this.

"Well, maybe next time we can find something to wear..." He said.

"Cool. Maybe I could be a princess or a warrior..." Star said.

"Personally, I think you'd make an amazing warrior princess, Starlight..." Danny said in a flirty way.

Star smiled at that.

"Oh really? Well, I think you'd be a great warrior princess's beloved, Danny-Boo..." She said in a flirty way.

The young couple kissed and started making out, blissfully enjoying their time together.

Unbeknownst to them, the figure saw this and glared.

"I have come too far to be denied…" With that, she pulled out a bladed weapon and held it out. "Fear Felines! Fight!"

Just then, feline-like growls and roars could be heard, getting the convention room's attention.

People began screaming and running away from something, getting Danny and Star's attention. They then saw two feline-like humanoids appearing out of thin air, one a leopard and the other a cougar.

"Have the humans left, Lepardo?" One in silver armor asked.

"They have, Cougo." The other in gold said.

"Make sure the target does not escape!" The robed figure ordered.

"Yes, my queen!" The two said in response.

As people ran away in fear, Danny and Star were surrounded by cat-like humanoids.

"Please don't tell me we're in Cats?" Star asks.

"You don't like that show?" Danny asks.

"I wasn't talking about the show…" Star said with a look of criticism and distaste.

Before Danny could ask her, the cat creatures attacked.

At the game

The game entered its second inning as Wulf walked onto the field.

"AWWOOO!" Wulf howled, getting people to cheer.

Wulf finished his performance as he smelled something close. Heading back to where he and Danielle were sitting, he saw what was it that made him excited.

"Hotdog man." Wulf said with a grin.

"Yo! Hotdogs!" Danielle said, waving to the vendor.

"More?" He asks in shock as he walks up to them.

"Don't worry… you can just leave the box this time." Danielle said as she sent him an innocent look.

The vendor walked away in confusion. Wulf then grabbed a handful of hotdogs and devoured them quickly.

"Mm… this job is better than a freshly killed deer…" He said.

"This is perfect." Danielle said, shoveling some popcorn into her mouth. "We get our fill as we get paid and all you have to do is present yourself like that for the next 2 days."

"Will we have enough?" Wulf asks before holding the box over his head and letting the contents enter his mouth.

"Probably not the amount I spent… but at least enough to not go broke." Danielle said.

Wulf licked his mouth clean, feeling satisfied.

Meanwhile, someone sitting in the audience took issue.

"Hey! Mr. Mascot!" An obnoxious voice shouted.

The two looked up, and, to Danielle ire, it's someone they recognized.

"Isn't that the sore loser who tossed his mask down yesterday?" She asks.

It was indeed the same man, now wearing a blue letterman jacket, grinning at them.

"I've seen scarier puppies at an adoption center! And you think you can do a job like this with an outfit that ugly and stupid?! You! Are! A! Hack!" He went in a mocking tone.

Wulf snarled as he heard a high-pitch laugh from this heckler.

"I will be back… I found something else to eat…" Wulf said as he took the first step forward.

Danielle then grabbed his tail, pulling him back.

"Wulf. He obviously doesn't know you're real." She said in a low voice.

"I know quick way to show him!" Wulf went.

"No! We need this job, remember?" Danielle reminds him.

Wulf crossed his arms and turned away, doing his best to ignore the heckler above.

"TAKE A FLEA BATH, YOU HACK OF A HOUND!" The heckler continued, ignoring the looks he was getting.

Wulf gritted his teeth, doing his best to ignore him.

Meanwhile

Danny's fist collided with a large tiger man's jaw, launching him upward.

As that one hit the ceiling and fell into the floor, face first, Danny scoffed.

"I thought cats always land on their feet." He said mockingly.

"You dare to insult us?!" Cougo shouted, trying to claw Danny.

"I will take him down!" Lepardo declared.

With an eye roll, Danny phased through the floor, letting the two collide with one another before phasing back up. He then grabbed both by the tail and swung them away.

"How's that?!" Danny said with a laugh.

"Hmm… impressive." The robed figure, appearing before Danny, said with an impressed tone.

"And… you are?" Danny questioned.

With that, the figure pulled her robe off.

There stood a lioness-human creature with blazing red hair, red ghost eyes, sleeveless armor top, metal skit and greaves.

"I am queen Leona! Ruler of the Fear Felines! I have heard of your battle with the entity known as Undergrowth… so I have come to reward you for your bravery and skill. You… may be my consort and this world will be taken as part of the kingdom diplomatically." She declared with a smile.

"... consort?" Danny asks.

"It means she wants to marry you." Cougo explained.

Once those words sunk in, Danny shook his head.

"I'm 15." He said flatly.

"I'm 17 in human years… I can be patient." Leona explained.

"I also have a girlfriend." Danny said flatly.

"Not for long…" Leona said, nodding to a large panther-like creature.

Said creature held Star up by her hands, threatening to claw her.

"Danny!" Star called out.

"Star!" Danny called out.

"Be mine and she will live…" Leona said, aiming her sword at Danny. "So… what do you say?"

Danny glared at her, wanting to answer with his fists.

"How about no and get lost?!" He shouted as his eyes and fists glowed blue.

"So unwise…" Leona said, raising her sword for battle.

Back to the game

Misty sat not far from the heckler, ignoring his antics as she looked around for her target.

"I still don't see him." She said.

"Perhaps a ghost has scared her off and she took your beloved with her?" Her spell book suggested.

"If Princess is so tough with ghosts, she can have fun with the one I'm ready to summon now. I was gonna wait until the seventh inning, but I think it's enough now." She said as she opened the book and started to chant quietly.

At the same time, Danielle sat up.

"Gotta go to the little girl's room. BRB and please don't eat him or whatever…" Danielle said in a half-joking manner.

"Fine… " Wulf said.

At the same time, the heckler continued to give him grief from far away.

"You're think you can be the mascot from now on?! Oh please, I doubt you could even walk far while wearing that bulky costume. Can you even breath in that thing?!" The heckler continued.

''We'll see if you're breathing if you keep this up." Wulf growled, trying to mind his temper.

As Danielle walked, she closed her eyes and the pleasant thought of her plan going well.

"Awesome… I'll make some money, get free food and take care of it all before Danny comes back… I doubt anything is going to keep me from making sure Wulf and I are set." She said under her breath before knocking into something's leg.

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry…" A woman went.

"No-no! It's cool, I-" Danielle paused.

Wait… that voice… She thought.

Looking up, she saw two figures who didn't know her, but she knew very well.

"You're not hurt, are you?" Maddie asks.

"I'm...I'm okay…" Danielle went awkwardly, trying to avoid eye contact.

She was now with Jack and Maddie Fenton, the parents of her genetic donor, making them in a way her genetic parents.

"Are you lost? Where are your parents?" Jack asks as she held a large tray of foods that slightly obscured his vision.

"Oh uh… they're around…" She went nervously.

They're technically you… She thought.

"I see… well, sorry to bug you…" Maddie went before noticing something off. "You look… familiar…"

"Oh… heh… I get that…" Danielle said, still trying to avoid eye contact as she started to walk backwards awkwardly.

Once she made a turn, she turned invisible to get closer to the two.

"Hmm… I swear, that girl looks familiar…" Maddie said.

''I guess she does..." Jack said, unaware that Danielle could hear them.

"I shouldn't… but… when else am I going to get to be around them, even if I have to do it invisibly?" She asked herself as she got closer.

Meanwhile

Wulf once again requested a box of hot dogs, letting the contents fall into his mouth.

"It must be really uncomfortable stuffing all that food into where his eyes go." One woman said.

"It must have a flap for food." Her husband said.

The heckler, however, continued.

"Are you a wolf or a pig?! I've seen hyenas with better manners than you!" He said mockingly.

Wulf snarled again.

"Wow, great animatronic head though…" The husband said again.

Meanwhile

The Fentons were still trying to figure out who Danielle reminded them of.

As Danielle got closer, Maddie snapped her fingers.

"Now I got it… Danny. She looks like Danny did when he was younger." She said.

Jack took a sip of his extra large soda.

"Well, I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a sister and he's too young to have a little girl, so it must be a coincidence." Jack said.

Danielle rolled her eyes.

If only they knew… She thought.

It was then Maddie had a surprisingly nostalgic look on her face.

"You remember what I told you? Why did I name Danny that?" Maddie asks.

"I remember… Danielle." Jack said.

Danielle gasps.

"They know about me?" She whispered as she got closer to Jack.

"She was the only relative of yours who didn't hate me." He said with a smile, calming the girl down.

"She was a wonderful grandmother. The name we'd have given Danny if he were a girl." Maddie said with a said sigh. "I genuinely wish we had another daughter… I'd have named her that…"

"Maddie… Maddie… we can't dwell on what could have been…" Jack said soothingly before spotting something he wanted. "But we can dwell on getting ice cream in those helmets! Come on!"

Jack hurried along while pulling his wife by the wrist as Danielle remained there, slowly turning visible once she was sure nobody was watching.

"I remember Jazz saying that that's where the name came from…" She said to herself.

She wondered if Vlad even knew Maddie had a grandmother by that name, the reason Danny got his name, and that he named her Danielle for that reason. However, she pushed that aside when she recalled Vlad didn't intend to keep her for long before she melted.

Still, the heartbreak she felt over being able to speak with Jack and Maddie Fenton, the real Jack and Maddie Fenton, over their holograms, even if briefly, without them knowing who she is still stung her.

With a sniff, she wiped her eyes clean and started walking back to Wulf.

At the same time, Wulf finished his cheer as the heckler threw a used soda cup at him.

"Boring!" The heckler went.

Wulf took a deep breath, letting his anger flow out.

"I must be calm and professional… nothing can ruin this for us…" Wulf said, unaware he was inviting things to go wrong.

Meanwhile, Misty was tapping her foot impatiently while waiting near the bathroom.

"Anytime now…" She muttered.

That's when a poof of smoke appeared by a vending machine.

"Apologies…" The figure that appeared said as he walked towards her.

The figure was a large monkey, a gibbon, one also adorned in red chinese armor from the neck down.

"You're the ghost I summoned?" Misty asks.

"Indeed. No need for long winded introductions, so call me Hou." He said.

"Isn't that just Chinese for monkey?" Misty asks.

"I like to keep it professional. Now… what do you need?" Hou asks, sounding oddly playful yet somewhat eager to cause trouble.

Misty held her phone up, showing a picture of Star.

"This girl? I want you to scare her out of this place. But…" Misty then shows a picture of Danny. "This boy? Don't hurt him."

"Fine with me…" Hou said before disappearing once more in a puff of smoke,

"I hope for your sake this does not backfire." The book said.

"Oh, please. Nothing can ruin this plan." Misty said with much confidence.

On the field

Wulf had finished another howl as the next inning began.

"So far, so good..." Wulf said.

It was then that Danielle's ghost sense went off and she panicked.

"Oh no! Here?! Now?!" She asked.

That's when Hou appeared in the center of the field, much to the teams' shared confusion.

"What's this? A monkey has appeared on the field?!" The announcer questioned. "I thought the Monkeys were next month?" He whispered, unknowingly close to the microphone.

"Hmm… now where is this golden head that our young sorceress asked me to take care of?" Hou asks, scouting as turned around. "I'm s-"

That's when he and Wulf both made eye contact.

Wulf began to snarl viciously.

"YOU!" Wulf shouted.

"YOU!" Hou went, his silly tone replaced with anger.

Danielle blinked in confusion as the two large animals began snarling.

"You two know each other?" Danielle asked.

"He knocked me out! He is the reason Walker captured me!" Wulf explained.

"Only because you ate the fish I planned to eat! Now I'll have your hide!" Hou shouted.

"This is an unexpected surprise…" Danielle commented.

"So is this!" Wulf shouted before he then jumped onto the field, running at all fours towards Hou.

"Wulf! NO!" Danielle went, her arm reaching out.

At the convention

Danny stood before several of the Fear Felines at his feet, all of them knocked out as he pounded his fist into a hand.

"There, Princess. I took out all of your cat army, now free Star, my sister and my friends!" Danny demanded.

Next to Leona were two other cat men, each with a fist that grasped the sets of wrists from each of the captured four.

"And… now I'm a hamster person…" Sam groaned.

"First of all, I am queen! Second, I see my men were not enough to stop you! Therefore, I shall deal with you myself!" Leona declared as she took out her sword. "Hhhooooo!"

With that, she leapt into the air, coming down at Danny with intent to swing her sword downward. However, to her surprise, her blade connected with something else.

She saw it was a blade made of green energy, one held by Danny.

"I've been practicing this power. Enough to deal with this unexpected surprise." Danny said with a smile as he managed to push her off.

Leona smiled appreciatively.

"This is going to be fun…" She said before their battle continued.

At the stadium

Wulf and Hou did battle, both clinging to each other while rolling, biting and clawing one another.

Cheers and boos were heard from the audience as Misty blinked in surprise.

"Wait… the mascot was a werewolf?" Misty asks.

"Wait… did you seriously not sense that the so-called mascot was a ghost?" The book asks.

Misty looked down into her bag in disapproval.

"You knew?" She asked in anger.

"Of course… though I did not suspect he had a beef with that beast. I suppose the old stereotype of dogs and monkeys lives on." The book said.

"You mean dogs and cats, right?" Misty asks.

"Not in parts of Asia. Anyway… we should go now. If that girl is here, that monkey would be of no help…"

"I guess not…" Misty said as she slowly got up and started to get away.

Wulf and Hou growled at each other before once again lunging and fighting like animals.

"Annoying, big mouth simian!" Wulf snarled in Esperanto.

"Overgrown mutt!" Hou said in Chinese.

"This is so gonna get us fired…" Danielle muttered as she watched the fight not go in Wulf's favor.

"Despite the extra weight…" Hou said, lifting Wulf up. "You're like as a feather!"

Wulf was then thrown into his seat, crushing it with his weight.

"The mascot's out of control!" Someone shouted in shock as people began getting up and try to make a break for it.

It was then the heckler got out of his seat and ran towards Wulf.

"I've had enough of this! You're clearly just messing around and causing trouble! Get out of this costume and give it to me before you make a bigger fool of yourself!"

He then grabbed the sides of Wulf's head, trying to pull it off.

Wulf snarled at him.

"Idioto!" Wulf said.

The heckler found himself sliding on his feet due to how he was making no success.

"Wow… this animatronic head is really stuck on there…" He said, slowly realizing what he held was not a fake.

Wulf then got up, causing the heckler to rise with him before Wulf snarled at him.

"Run…" He ordered before making a guttural noise that gave the heckler a good look at the inside of his mouth.

"Uh oh…" The heckler went, letting go upon realizing this was no costumed mascot. "GHOST! REAL WOLF GHOST!"

With that, he ran away from Wulf, terrified for his life upon realizing who he was heckling.

Danielle made a face.

"I'm not sure if I should enjoy that, given we're probably not getting paid now…" Danielle muttered.

Meanwhile, Jack and Maddie, seeing the game themselves, stood up.

"GHOST!" They went.

Danielle flinched when she heard their voices, seeing them pull out weapons

"Oh… we're so dead…" Danielle went, seeing the baseball game became a match up between two large animals.

The Fentons jumped over rows of seats before they ran to the field, weapons ready. There, they saw the owner of the team, watching with an oddly content smile on his face.

"Mr. Ensen, I demand you let us take care of this." Maddie insisted.

"Take care of what? Stopping this sudden performance?" Ensen questioned jokingly.

That's when the heckler approached, gasping for air.

"Yes, let them take those things down!" He went.

"Why?" Ensen asks.

"That thing isn't a costume! It's a ghost! A real wolf ghost!" The heckler said.

"But the fans love him…" Ensen said, gesturing to those still cheering.

"Mr. Enson!" The hot dog vendor said as he approached. "We're out of hot dogs!"

"What?!" Ensen questioned in shock as the vendor lifted the box upside down to show it was empty.

"That ghost wolf ate 'em all!" The vendor said, pointing at Wulf.

Seeing his profits from food gone, Ensen grew furious.

"Get rid of those ghosts!" He shouted

Danielle, overhearing them, groaned.

"We're so fired…"

Thanks to Flower Princess11.

I based this part on an episode of Kenny the Shark, a cartoon I see few people mention. Probably why no one acknowledged it.

Anyway, almost done with this story. Maybe 2 more to go?

Remember, this is before Bewitched so Misty doesn't know Wufong's plans.

Invader Johnny: They found out. These two are more than likely fired now.

RonaldM40196867: Likely. Likely. Talk to FP11. Again, talk to her. Not sure, maybe someone from Ghostforce. Not each other. I knew of the void. Constructs? I guess. Maybe, but I would rather we saw more of it before he fully mastered the power. A character from the Kenny the Shark episode I mentioned, though he was the owner of a hockey team.

Jebest4781: Thanks.

Luiz4200: If any plot holes or continuity issues appear, let me know and I'll edit the chapter.

JDF Legacier Morphicon: 1.) Let's see... Elfen Lied, Supernatural, Dangan Ronpa come to mind... 2.) Maybe Ember. 3.) To an extent. 4.) Probably not. 5.) Star.

Fiction Realm: Maybe a food critic.

Leonardo: As said, Kenny the Shark. I know of it. Cool... but I still think if they're not mixing up the Turtles by using one from each series, then go with the 2012 series as that's the one with the strongest connection to Nickelodeon.

CZS4: Yup.

jboy44: Didn't know that. Thanks but I'm focusing on those with animated series attached to them.
