It was a quiet morning within the city of Celadon as Leaf opened her eyes before she yawned and rubbed her hair. She got up from her bed and went into the living room to see food already made on the table. "I guess Red already cooked breakfast. Where is he though?"
Leaf looked around the place and went to his room before his door opened, the girl looking inside to see no sign of her boyfriend. Her Zorua jumped onto her lap with a huge smile which made the girl pet the Pokemon. "Hey, Zori. Who's a little cutie?"
She went outside with her breakfast to see Red who was taking in the air with his Pokemon, the boy gazing to the sky with a calm expression on his face.
"Red? Are you ok?" Leaf said as she walked outside and sat beside him, catching his attention. "Oh! Hey, Leaf. I'm ok."
Leaf decided to eat beside him as they watched the clouds, enjoying the wind passing through them. The two sat in silence, Leaf leaning on Red and humming in delight. "Why do you make such good food?"
"I helped out my mom with her cooking." Red explained as Leaf decided to hug him while eating her food. "She always told me everything I needed to know in case I go out and do camping because my dad is good at hiking and traversing but he was bad at cooking."
"Hmm. So survival skills? That's nice." Leaf said before she put some of the food on her fork. "You want some? Say ahh!"
"I'm good." Red raised his hands, feeling embarrassed but his girlfriend did not care as she pouted at him. "Hey, Red. Is that a Ninetales over there?"
"Where-" He looked into the direction before he gave him the food which surprised him. Leaf smiled as he ate the food begrudgingly, pinching his cheek and scooting closer to him as they enjoyed the view of the city. After some time of silence, Leaf looked at Red's face, seeing a look of determination on his face.
"You're going to battle him today, aren't you?" Leaf asked, Red nodded as his eyes glimmered eerily. "Yeah. I'm a bit nervous but it's not the first time we battled."
"You'll do alright." Leaf said as they both continued to watch the sunrise with their Pokemon.
After a while, they decided to get themselves ready, eating breakfast, taking a shower and readying their things as they prepare for their departure from Celadon City.
The trio said their goodbyes to the people of the city, the citizens waving at the three teenagers as Erika and Tony led them towards the Saffron City gate.
"Goodbye!" Leaf said while waving at the group, her Zorua waving at them.
"See y'all!" Kim said as her Mawile did the same.
Red nodded with a hum as he waved at everyone, his Togepi feeling happy as it wiggled in its baby carriage.
As they made their way to Route 7, they all see Blue standing by the battlefield with his arms crossed, turning to them with a small smirk.
"What is he? Some final boss from a game or something?" Kim raised a brow, getting a chuckle from Leaf. "With how he acts, I can see him trying to prove his strength to some newbie trainers and Champions."
"I would go for the peak of a snowy mountain if I was the final boss. That would be cool." Red thought aloud, getting confused glances from the two girls. "What? It fits the mood."
"I'm going to make sure that you don't get any bright ideas if that happens." Leaf said with a serious voice as Red walked towards the battlefield.
"I'm surprised you did not run away, Red. You're going to give me the honor of a one-on-one." Blue said with a smirk as he stretched his arms. "Makes it even better when I beat you."
Red did not react as he went to his side of the battlefield which made the spiky-haired teen smirk as he prepared his Pokeball. Everyone on the route went to the sidelines as they watch the fight, Julia deciding to be the referee. "Time to start the match. It is a..."
"A six-on-six battle. Substitutions are allowed. The battle will be lost when one side has all their Pokémon defeated and unable to battle." Blue explained before he glared at the woman. "Just check if the Pokémon is fully unconscious and let us do our battle, lady."
"What the? Rude." Julia said, offended by Blue's remark before she let out a sigh. "Just start the battle."
"Gabite, crush them!" Blue shouted as he threw out his Pokeball.
"Clef, you got this!" Red said as he threw his capsule.
Both Pokemon came out of their capsules, hopping onto the field as they both had a stare down against each other.
"You're itching for a rematch, weren't you Clef?" Red asked Clefairy who kept his eye on his opponent.
'Yes.' Clef said as it took off the weights and gave them to its trainer. 'I wanted this for a while.'
Seeing its opponent, Gabite smirked at the fairy as it shook its head and crossed its arms. 'Well, look who it is. The weak little pipsqueak who nearly got his intestines popped out. I'm surprised that you still want to fight.'
Clef stayed silent as it stretched its body before it made a boxer's stance, both him and Red's expressions turned turned serious. Blue let out a smirk as he puts his hands in his pockets before he spoke. "I hope you don't hold out on me this time."
Red did not say a thing which made Blue a bit confused until he made his move. "Iron Head, Gabite."
Making his command, Gabite dashed forward with Iron Head, moving at a fast speed that caught everyone off guard.
"I know I may have repeated this before but that Blue kid is good." Tony said with his arms crossed, Erika agreeing with him. "He reminds me of you."
"What-how?! I'm not that bad."
"Sure..." Erika said before she giggled which made Tony let out a sigh as he mumbled to himself.
"Anyways, he trained his Pokémon well." Havoc said as he watched the speed of the Dragon-type. "Wonder how lil Red's gonna deal with this?"
Meanwhile, Red and Clef did not falter as the teen snapped his fingers twice which made his Pokemon's hands glow intensely and turn to iron as the fairy braced itself for Gabite. 'Hahaha! You think you're going need more than metal arms to stop me!'
'No, this is enough.' Clef said as he took a deep breath.
Within an instant, the pink fairy immediately blocked Gabite's attack which surprised the blue dragon, the strength of its small opponent shocking even Blue as he made his next move. "Earth Power!"
"Brick Break."
Gabite's body started to glow as it swung its arm which Clefairy stopped before it punched Gabite with Brick Break that sent the dragon across the field.
'What the?' Gabite's eyes widened, Blue sharing the same expression before he smiled. "It got stronger, huh? Now this is what I want."
"Go Red!" Leaf cheered on the sidelines along with her Zorua and Red's Togepi while Erika nodded with a smile. Kim, however, was extremely shocked as she whistled. "He found a workaround for Meteor Mash too?! Seriously?!"
"Alright, you got a good hit in." Blue said with a smile. "Glad to see you're taking this seriously. Now let's see what your luck will do against this. Earth Power!"
Hearing the command, Gabite got up and used Earth Power that unleashed a wave of energy that created a miniature earthquake.
"Woah!"
"What amazing power!" Erika said in surprise by the power of Gabite but she noticed the calm expression on her apprentice's face. 'But…'
"Punch the ground with your strongest attack!" Red commanded calmly, his Clefairy struck the ground with all its strength which created a shockwave that stopped the Ground-type move.
Seeing what happened, Gabite was about to go for another Bulldoze but it was suddenly hit by a huge stone. 'What the?'
It then noticed Clefairy hurling boulders at it.
'You think that is going to work?' The dragon chuckled while dodging the rocks before it used Earth Power which the pink fairy flew over before using Metronome that turned into Flamethrower that Gabite stopped with its own Flamethrower.
Everyone watched the battlefield engulfed in flames until they dissipated, Clef immediately lunged forward and struck Gabite with a Brick Break that sent it rolling across the field which surprised its trainer.
'He's calmer than last time. I have fought him so much times but what makes him so hard to fight is that he doesn't have a distinct sequence.' Blue thought as he watched Red's attitude, seeing that the teen was unusually calm and assertive.
'His fighting style has always been like this but it's even more of a headache. It's like…' He continued on the offensive, his Gabite's Dragon Claw clashing with Clefairy's Brick Break as they battled throughout the battlefield.
After a while, Clefairy was able to get the upper hand when it pummeled the dragon with a flurry of punches before ending the assault with a kick that sent the Ground-type spinning into the air.
'It's like he can predict my moves. His eyes are almost like a Fearow.' Blue thought when he saw Clef slamming a rock into his Pokemon's face before dodging a Iron Head and landing a Meteor Mash that pushed it back. 'This is bad. He's not gonna make this win easy.'
"Earth Power." Blue commanded as his attention turned to Clef.
Without missing a beat, Gabite dashed forward as it used Earth Power that stunned Clefairy before it head-butted the fairy with Iron Head that send it bouncing across the field. Getting up, the Fairy-type sees a stream of flame coming towards it before it punched the ground and lifted a rock to block the flames then throwing it towards Gabite.
"Slash it with Dragon Claw!" Gabite slashed the stone in two, about to attack before they saw nothing in sight, Blue looking around before he looked up in the sky. "Where did it go? It's not even in the sky. Is it invisible?"
"Careful." Red said which surprised Blue who looked at Leaf and the onlookers, all of them smiling and snickering before his raven-haired opponent continued. "It might be right under your nose."
Suddenly, the ground beneath Gabite begun to crack underneath before a metallic fist came out of it and punched the dragon on its chin, sending it into the air. The dragon recovered midair as it turned to the ground, seeing Clef dashing towards it. It then used a Flamethrower to push back its pink opponent before coating its claws with the flames. Within an instant, the two clashed with each other as they started trading blows with each other for a while in the air.
"Crush 'em, Gabite!"
"Hold on, Clef. Block left then punch. You can do this!"
Their trainers said as their Pokemon fought intensely against each other until they both ended with a clash.
During their fight, Blue heard Red's instructions onto Clef before he noticed the fairy scoring more blows as the fistfight continued before he commanded for his dragon to retaliate with Flamethrower and Earth Power that pushed back the pink fairy.
"Fly into the air, Clefairy." Clef leaped into the air with Mega Kick and flew over the attacks.
Blue caught on quick as he made his Gabite direct its attacks to the sky, Clef able to dodge some of the attacks before it started to descend towards its opponent.
'What's he about to do?' Blue thought as he watched his foe coming towards him like a rocket, Red making his move. "Mega Kick!"
"Iron Head to block it!"
As Clefairy quickly descended to the ground with Mega Kick, Gabite prepared itself by turning its head into metal before the two collided into each other. As the two combatants continued to push each other with their moves until they were knocked back to their respective sides of the field.
"Iron Head!"
"Meteor Mash!"
Both Pokemon dashed at each other, Gabite landing a powerful Iron Head that sent back Clefairy but the fairy and swung its arm at full strength and landed a strong Meteor Mash to Gabite's face. The dragon recovered before using Flamethrower that Clef bulldozed through and landed a barrage of punches until it ended the assault with an uppercut.
"Go Red!"
"Damn, look at that Clefairy, man! It's so strong!"
"C'mon, Oak! I got my money on you!"
The battle raged on as everyone started to get excited at the two combatants trading blows as they travelled throughout the battlefield. After a while, the two Pokemon unleashed their strongest attack, Clefairy rushing forward with Mega Kick while Gabite coated itself with Earth Power before it clashed with each other as their attacks hit, creating an explosion that cracked the ground and unleashed a powerful gust of wind.
"Woah! Now that's strength!" Kim said as she shielded her eyes and was curious to see the rest of the fight.
'Completely different from the first time that they fought.' Leaf said with a proud smile as she looked at Red, noticing a serious look on his face.
As the smoke cleared, both Pokemon stood tall against each other, their panting filling the air as everyone was quietly anticipating the next move.
'Gotta…give it to you. You hit hard.' Gabite smirked as he went towards Clef who stood still and quiet. He lifted his arm and prepared his next attack, Blue smirked as well. 'Caught me off guard. I thought he was…'
His thoughts were cut short when the dragon fell to the ground beside Clefairy who did not move before it fell onto one knee which surprised everyone. Before anyone could say anything, Clef collapsed, unconscious as Julia walked towards the Pokemon and inspected them.
"Both Gabite and Clefairy are unable to battle. It's a tie!"
Everyone cheered, Blue extremely surprised before he returned his Pokemon, Red picking up his and giving it some food and congratulating it. The young Oak took out his next Pokemon as he looked at the capsule and then at Red. 'He got stronger…way stronger…that Meteor Mash move was strong too…'
"Someone using a physical moveset for a Clefairy…it's not rare but it's a first to see someone make it work this well." Julia stated with her chin in her hand. "The kid's full of surprises. In a way, he reminds me of Erika. Silent but unpredictable…"
"Scizor, let's go!" Blue sent out Scizor who landed on the field and got ready, surprising Red who silently eyed his new match. 'His Scyther evolved...'
"His Scizor. This is gonna be a problem. Nida was barely able to hold its own against it." Leaf said with an expression of concern, her Zorua transforming its face into hers and mirroring her facial expression. Kim agreed, crossing her arms as she watched the Pokemon, almost seeing its strength oozing from its demeanor. "Seriously, it's just the second match, he must want to finish this quickly."
"I can understand." Erika said which surprised the two girls as the gym leader continued. "Blue understand that Red is a battler that gets more dangerous the longer the battle is.
"Yeah." Tony chimed in. "The kid's battle style is most dangerous if left unchecked. Oak's making the right choice in wanting to end things quickly."
"Vulpix, it's your time." Red sent Vulpix onto the field, her body shining which caused the sun to intensify. The golden fox eyed her foe with a determined expression on her face.
"That's surprising. Red is actually using a type advantage." Kim said in surprise which surprised Leaf. "He used Clefairy…against Gabite. Also, the fight against Erika-"
"You know what I mean, Leaf!"
During their stare down, Blue folded his arms with a smirk as he raised a brow at Red. "This is a first, Red. Usually, you use a type disadvantage."
Red raised a brow. "But I used Clef though-"
"You know what I mean!" Blue shouted.
Red stayed silent as he kept his attention on Scizor who was floating into the air and shadowboxing, its strikes seeming to be almost invisible. 'Its speed isn't gonna be a joke. I have to play it safe.'
"Bullet Punch." Blue made his command, his Scizor vanished immediately which surprised everyone.
Red looked around before he barely noticed Scizor behind Vulpix and smacked the fox back. It then continued on the offensive as it dashed towards its opponent at a burst of speed as it went around the Fire-type, about to attack her.
"Extrasensory." Red voiced his move, Vulpix's eyes glowing as Blue smirked. "Seriously, good luck hitting Scizor."
As soon as Scizor swung its arm to attack, the golden fox quickly dodged the attack and moved away from the metallic bug, surprising everyone except for Leaf. Blue was shocked as well as he watched the fox evaded another strike from behind her.
'How in the hell? Does it have eyes on its back? Well, it's Red so I should expect this.' Blue thought while watching Vulpix's movements before he voiced his command. "Aerial Ace!"
Lunging towards its opponent in a burst of speed, Scizor unleashed a flurry of strikes that Vulpix dodged with Extrasensory until the bug swung its arm to let out a shockwave that stunned the Fire-type before it was hit by an Aerial Ace. As the fox skidded across the ground, it quickly recovered before she noticed Scizor in front of her which surprised the Fire-type.
"Alright, let's continue. Aerial Ace again!" Blue said, his Pokemon continued as it landed a barrage of strikes unto Vulpix, the fox trying to block its attacks.
"Vulpix, burst." Vulpix glowed until it burst into flames which caused Scizor to retreat. As the fox was able to get some distance, Red crouched beside her with a worried look. "You alright?"
'Yeah…' Vulpix nodded, her trainer noticed the wounds on its body before he looked at Scizor.
"Alright, fire bullet." Red commanded, his Vulpix's mouth lit aflame before it shot a barrage of fire bullets which Scizor dodged as it travelled towards the fox. After a moment, Scizor went for a punch that the Fire-type evaded before shooting a Flamethrower that grazed the metal bug.
"Bullet Punch!" Scizor swung its arms, unleashing shockwaves of air that Vulpix blocked by creating a veil of fire that blocked the blasts, much to Blue's shock. 'He can use the flames as a shield.'
"Nice one, sweetie! You can do it!" Leaf cheered Red who blushed a little when he saw her blowing kisses at him. 'I have a lot to get used to.'
Vulpix's ears twitched before she barely moved out of the way of a Bullet Punch before Red made it unleash a wall of fire that repelled the bug.
"A literal firewall, huh? Alright, Hyper Beam!" Blue commanded, Scizor shot a Hyper Beam that collided with a firewall, the two attacks created an explosion. Everyone watched as both Pokemon were pushed back by the shockwave, Leaf surprised when she saw Vulpix not being as damaged as it should be.
'He was able to neutralize the blast with the firewall. He even created a shield around his Vulpix as an extra measure. Nice.' Erika thought while looking at the fox. Blue did not say anything as he commanded his Scizor to use Bullet Punch which surprised everyone, including Red who was able to recover from his shock and order his fox to dodge the move.
"Ummm…doesn't Hyper Beam require for the Pokemon to recharge?" Kim asked as she saw Scizor still attacking, Leaf also surprised as well. "Yeah. It barely showed any signs of slowing down."
'He trained his Scizor to the point that it is able to handle the recoil of the attack.' Erika mentally commented before she noticed something wrong with Scizor. 'Hmmm.'
Scizor shot another Hyper Beam which Vulpix was able to dodge the move before the bug was in front of it, charging another blast which made everyone gasp as one of the onlookers stated. "Well, Vulpix's done for."
"Flamethrower, spread!" Red quickly made his move, the Pokemon shot a wave of flames that pushed Scizor back.
Not missing a beat, the fox absorbed all the flames onto the battlefield and morph it into a huge fireball and shot a Flamethrower as soon as the Hyper Beam was blasted. The two blasts collided with each other and caused a huge explosion that covered the battlefield. Seeing the display of control along with Red's quick thinking, Erika could not hide her smile as she used her kimono to hide her mouth. 'Impressive. The quick thinking to control the flames the way he did.'
Tony noticed this with a brow raised as he saw the slow smile creeping on Erika's face. 'I blame her for this.'
"Woah!" Kim shouted in surprise while Leaf jumped from her space and cheered. As the smoke was cleared, everyone seeing the two Pokemon that were panting as they stood tall, their trainers realizing the situation.
"This is it! Vulpix, Flamethrower, max power!"
"The last stretch! Scizor, Hyper Beam!"
At that moment, both Pokemon stood up as they charged their respective moves, their auras flaring on their side of the battlefield.
"Now!" They both said in unison.
Vulpix shot a full power fiery blast as soon as Scizor put its pincers together and unleashed a Hyper Beam. Everyone watched the two beams clashed with each other, creating a shockwave that was pushing Blue back as he had to shield his eyes.
"Don't you dare lose, Scizor!" Blue said with a smirk as his Pokemon unleashed more power, meanwhile Red was silent as he looked at his Vulpix. "You can do it, Vulpix."
The fox glowed as its attack got bigger, the blasts continued to collide against each other. After a while, the Flamethrower started to overpower the Hyper Beam, Scizor noticing this as it tried to muster all the power it could but it ended in failure as it was hit by the fiery blast.
"Scizor, no!" Blue shouted before the flames dissipated, his Pokemon on the floor, unconscious and covered in burns. He looked at his fainted Pokemon with a frustrated look on his face, hearing the referee's announcement. "Scizor is down for the count, the winner is Vulpix."
'Seriously?' Blue said, shaking in anger before he took a deep breath. "J-just a fluke. But this is good. At least he's keeping up with me."
He returned his Scizor before sending out his Alakazam onto the field as it floated into the air. Seeing the Pokemon, a sweat drop went down Kim's face as she saw the Pokemon levitating its spoons. "Alakazam. This one's gonna be a tough one."
Red crouched down beside Vulpix with a look of concern. "You ok?"
Vulpix nodded with a confident look on its face as it stayed on the field. Red smiled as he stood up and watched his psychic opponent. "Alright, let's go."
"Red..." Leaf said when she saw him choosing to keep Vulpix on the field. "Is he sure that he should go with Vulpix?"
"Dealing with a Psychic type is not easy by no means. Even in the hands of people who are not used to dealing with them, a Psychic Pokemon can cause a lot of damage. An Alakazam is a dangerous Pokemon to face. Red better make sure that he has a good Pokemon to face it." Erika said with her arms crossed as the match was announced to be started. "How will you approach this one, Red?"
Alakazam levitated into the air, rushing towards Vulpix who created a wall of flames which the Psi Pokemon went around it and shot a Shadow Ball that the fox barely dodged. Seeing Vulpix being overwhelmed, Red made his Pokemon retaliate by unleashing a wave of flames that pushed back the Psychic-type.
"Psyshock!" Blue grinned, his Alakazam glowing intensely before it launched a barrage of psychic bullets.
"Retaliate with your own fire bullets, Vulpix." Red said, his Vulpix dodging some of the telekinetic blasts before it retaliated with its fiery bullets that clashed with its opponent's projectiles. After a while of shooting blasts, Alakazam decided to use Psyshock through a different method by slamming his spoons on the ground, creating a shockwave that levitated several boulders into the air before throwing them towards the Vulpix.
"Flamethrower to fuse the rocks together!" Red quickly made his command. "Let's use that move!"
Barely missing a beat, Vulpix stopped the rocks with Extrasensory before using Flamethrower to burn and put the stones together to create a blazing meteor that it sent back at Alakazam.
"A damn meteor?!" Kim shouted in shock while Leaf let out a sigh. "Leave it to Red to turn your own attack into his own and make it your problem."
"He really did an uno reverse move. I wonder who the reason for that is." Tony turned to Erika who was clapping happily at her student's strategy.
Blue clicked his tongue as he saw the meteor coming towards him.
"Of course, he would do this. Alakazam, destroy the meteor please." He sighed, his Alakazam exploding the meteor. "You're gonna have to try harder than that, Red. If you think just one big rock is gonna stop me, think again."
"Said the guy who just hurled a bunch of boulders at us." Red spoke under his breath. "At least my attack took a bit for you to destroy it but that doesn't account for much."
Alakazam sped towards Vulpix with two Shadow Ball in its hands which the fox destroyed with Hex, creating several purple wisps around its body which were stopped by Alakazam's Psyshock. Seeing the fight continue, Red started to get worried as his Vulpix was pushed back by Alakazam's strength. 'Darn. I won't be able to use Kitsune mode correctly but maybe...'
"Hex!" Vulpix started to unleash a black aura as Alakazam shot a barrage of Shadow Ball at it. Destroying the Shadow Ball with Hex, Vulpix created a wave of flames that the Psychic Pokemon that Alakazam dispersed before it noticed a flaming tail coming towards it, much to Blue's shock. 'What in the hell? How the hell? What was that?'
"Dodge." Alakazam barely avoided the tail by ascending into the air, everyone looking at Vulpix who has a veil of fire surrounding it. "What the?"
"It's like that move he used during Erika's gym battle." Kim commented with a look of shock. Leaf watched before she thought about the situation. "It's not as strong but this might change the tide of the battle."
"What on earth is this?" Blue said as he watched his Alakazam dodged Vulpix's tails as it tried to get close. Reaching close to Vulpix, the Psychic-type used a Shadow Ball which it decided to detonate, creating a huge shadowy explosion that knocked back Vulpix and causing its flaming tails to disperse.
"Smart move. Detonating the Shadow Ball to catch Vulpix off guard." Julia commented as she saw Vulpix trying to lift itself from the ground.
"Good. Continue with Shadow Ball!" Blue grinned as he saw the fox struggling to get up. Creating two Shadow Ball in its hands, Alakazam slammed one of the shadowy spheres onto Vulpix which sent it into a crater, much to Red's concern. 'Just believe in her.'
"Flamethrower." He said and waited, nothing happening which made Blue laughed as he shook his head. "Well, that's it for now. Get your next Pokemon, R-"
Flames erupted from the crater, creating cracks on the ground that the flames oozed out of.
"What the hell?" Blue and his Pokemon were completely shocked when they witnessed a flaming geyser.
Thinking quickly, Alakazam swung its other Shadow Ball to clash with Vulpix's flaming tails. After a while, both attacks clashed with each other, Vulpix unleashing all the power from its body against an unfazed Alakazam.
Before long, the clash ended in an explosion that covered the entire battlefield, causing both Red and Blue to be pushed back by the shockwave.
Blue was unable to hide his shock when he stepped back, his brain in disbelief. "That was terrifying. Gotta give to Red. He's good when it comes to understanding a Pokemon's physiology, especially with Vulpix's ability to freely control fire. Well, at least it didn't do much."
After the smoke was cleared, Vulpix was panting heavily with its body covered in injuries as it stood on shaky legs while Alakazam stood still, no injuries on its body.
"That Alakazam is strong." Kim said, her Mawile frantically biting its fingers.
"Yeah. And Vulpix is barely able to stand." Leaf said worriedly as she watched the fox. After a while, Vulpix collapsed to the ground, Blue let out a grin as he crossed his arms. "Well, despite all of that, you still lost."
As Blue continued with his tirade, Red picked up Vulpix and returned it. "You did great, Vulpix."
Contemplating his choice, Red crouched on the floor and tapped his shadow which revealed Duslops as his next Pokemon when the ghost appeared on the field. Erika smiled as Dusclops made a battle stance, Blue completely surprised before he saw the serious look on Red's face. 'That's new. Welp, he's going down!'
"Alakazam, Thunderbolt!" Blue made his command.
Alakazam shot a Thunderbolt at Dusclops, Red snapping his finger which caused Dusclops to phase into the ground to dodge the move. Before Alakazam could react, Dusclops came into view and struck it with a Shadow Punch. Recovering quickly, Alakazam launched a Shadow Ball that knocked Dusclops into the ground before it flew towards the phantom.
"Payback." Red made his command, Dusclops using the move which Alakazam barely dodged.
Blue was on his guard as he made Alakazam flew into the air and prepared a bunch of Shadow Ball that rotated around it before it shot one of the spheres at the ghost. Red made a gesture with his hand, Dusclops launching a shadowy fist that clashed with the Shadow Ball which created a cloud of smoke.
"Alakazam, take Dusclops out! Shadow Ball barrage!" Alakazam unleashed a barrage of Shadow Ball, Red making Dusclops smack the projectiles with Shadow Punch. Seeing his psychic opponent coming towards him, Red smirked as he and his Pokemon braced themselves. 'Just a little closer.'
The Psychic-type launched another barrage of shadowy spheres, one of them hitting Dusclops which made it use Payback in the form of a lariat that slammed Alakazam to the ground. Recovering quickly from the attack, Alakazam shot a Thunderbolt which Dusclops barely dodged before it noticed the Psychic-type in front of it with an Ice Punch.
"Protect yourself with Shadow Punch!"
Dusclops instinctively used Shadow Punch which stopped Alakazam's attack, the shockwave sending back both Pokemon as Blue let out a smirk. "I see you got stronger. It's not gonna do anything."
Red stayed silent which surprised everyone, including Blue who raised a brow. "You're not gonna talk."
Red sighed before he opened his mouth. "What's the point?"
"Huh?"
"Talking is not gonna do much for situations like these. You're not going to listen to me anyways so why bother. I'd rather show rather than tell. So get ready." Red said as he outstretched his hand, his cap covering one of his eyes. "Shadow Punch, shoot!"
Its hands glowing a black aura, Dusclops shot a barrage of Shadow Punch which Alakazam had to fly away and dodge, Blue seeing the projectiles following the Pokemon. 'I knew he wouldn't make it easy.'
"Shadow Ball to protect yourself."
After Alakazam avoided the attacks, it created a shadowy veil that protected it from the attacks coming until it barely dodged a Payback from its ghastly opponent. Retreating, it used Thunderbolt that clashed with Dusclops' Shadow Punch, the two moves cancelling each other.
"They are going at it!" Leaf commented as she watched them clash again, Alakazam winning before it used a combination of Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt that electrocuted Dusclops.
'Dusclops.' Red watched his Pokemon as it fell before he noticed Alakazam launched a barrage of Shadow Ball. "Dodge it with Future Sight."
Dusclops barely recovered, dodging and smacking away the projectiles before retaliating with a Shadow Punch which Alakazam. Shooting bolts of lightning, Dusclops dodged them before it turned invisible and phased through the ground to dodge the attacks until it retaliated with a barrage of shadowy fists which Alakazam stopped with Thunderbolt.
"Ok then." Blue said as Alakazam flew high into the air. Red watched his opponent ascending into the air before it rushed towards Dusclops with a Shadow Ball in its hands.
"Grab Alakazam, Dusclops! Payback!" Red commanded, Dusclops going for a grab which Alakazam barely dodged before it retreated.
"Get away from that Pokemon's grab!"
"Don't let up, Dusclops. Future Sight!"
Alakazam flew away from Dusclops, firing multiple blasts that the ghost evaded while chasing it. During the time, Red watched their movements, telling the ghost to slow down as he noticed that with the Future Sight, Dusclops is still unable to catch its opponent.
"Shadow Punch barrage!" Red commanded, Dusclops fired a barrage of Shadow Punch that Alakazam dodged, moving around the field as it had to fend itself against the attacks.
"Darn! Take them out with Shadow Ball!" Blue commanded, Alakazam taking out the projectiles with a Shadow Ball. The spiky-haired boy grinned as his Pokemon destroyed all of the projectiles. "Ha!"
Suddenly, Alakazam received a punch to the chest that knocked the wind out of it was held into the air, its opponent, Dusclops, becoming visible.
"How the-"
"Payback! Grab!" Red said, his Dusclops immediately wrapped its arms around Alakazam before it unleashed a dark aura as it squeezed the Psychic Pokemon with all its might. "Don't let go!"
The ghastly cyclops unleashed a dark aura as it used all its might to squeeze Alakazam, much to Red's joy. "Nice."
"Bad idea, Red." Blue said with a grin, surprising the raven-haired teenager. "Weren't you taught not to touch circuits?"
Realizing what Blue meant, Red wore a shocked expression as he turned to his Pokémon. "Let g-"
"Thunderbolt!" Blue commanded, Alakazam immediately exploded into lightning which electrocuted Dusclops. This continued for a while until the Ghost-type loosened its grip on the Psi Pokemon.
"Crap! Dusclops, Payback!"
"Too slow. Alakazam, Ice Punch!"
Before Dusclops could use its move, Alakazam moved out of the phantom's clutches before it readied an Ice Punch. As it swung its fist, Dusclops was able to grab the punch which made Red smile before he noticed the smirk on Blue's face not leaving. 'What the?'
'Young master!' Red heard Dusclops say before he turned to see it starting to freeze. Red could not respond quick enough when over half of Dusclops' body was encased in ice.
"Now freeze." Blue said with a smile when he saw Dusclops completely frozen. The Pokémon unable to move which made Red worried. "Dusclops!"
"Ha! It's over now! Alakazam, Lightning Shadow Ball!" Blue commanded.
Alakazam put its feet together and charged a Shadow Ball, everyone watching the move increasing in size as lightning crackled from its hands and surrounded the sphere.
"Woah! What an attack!"
"Dusclops does have high defense so maybe it survive this!"
"I don't think so. It's frozen."
"Oh my word! " Kim shouted as her Mawile shared the same expression as her. Leaf was extremely shocked as she watched the attack increase in size, a bad feeling in her chest before she looked at Red who had a troubled look on his face. 'Oh, that's not a good look.'
"The hell is Red gonna fight that?" One of the gym trainers said as Alakazam threw the sphere at the frozen Dusclops who braced itself. Red clicked his teeth as a worried expression was on his face as he tried to call for Dusclops to phase out of the ice but to no avail. "Oh no..."
Looking up and seeing the huge attack approaching his Pokemon, Red started to sweat profusely as he tried to contemplate his options, thinking if it is best to return his Pokemon as he took out his Pokeball.
"Well, Red! Just get your next Pokemon and get this over with!" Blue laughed with his arms folded, Alakazam's attack making contact with Dusclops, causing the ice encasing it to disintegrate.
"Crush him, Alakazam!"
"Hold on, Dusclops!"
Everyone could only watch as the Lightning Shadow Ball exploded, black lightning sprouting throughout the battlefield and route as everyone had to shield themselves with their Pokemon. Red only saw smoke covering the field, sweat going down his face as he made a worried expression. As the smoke started to clear, His eyes widened when he saw a huge crater along with Alakazam hovering over the smoke while Blue was laughing. "That's three down! Three more to go. C'mon, Red! Alakazam still raring to go!"
'Oh no...Dusclops...I don't have a lot of good options against Alakazam.' Red thought as he thought about his next move, a sweat dripping down his face. 'This isn't good at all.'
