Gargoyles: Stone By Night Season 01 Episode 02

We hear Owen speaking with someone as he says "Yes, it was a most unfortunate accident. One of the new generators installed in the castle exploded, Mr. Xanatos is quite willing to pay for any damages accruted."

"Mr. Burnett I heard automatic weapons coming from up there. Now you can let me look the place over, or I can come back with a Warrant and a lot more cops, maybe even the Plumbers if the job requires it." The woman we'd seen in the last episode who'd noticed the claw marks in the stone stated to Owen.

Owen then let out a sorta smile as if he'd been sorta amused by that but then we cut to the elevator reaching the top floor and the two stepped out to have a look around the castle with Xanatos walking up to them stating "Detective Maza, I just called the mayor to offer my profound apologies for what happened hear."

"What exactly did happen here Mr. Xanatos and please don't tell me it was an exploding Generator." The woman, detective Maza, stated while asking what actually happened.

"My apologies, Owen was simply confused. That story is for the press so that no one is alarmed, the truth is that we repelled an invasion by a rival corporation trying to steal some of my company's new technology." Xanatos stated to them about what actually happened there.

"Repelled an invasion? You're a private citizen Xanatos not a country." Detective Maza stated in response to what he'd told her.

"Detective I am the owner of a multi-national corporation which is bigger than many companies than you can name." He'd explained as they went out to the area where the fighting had taken place.

"And I assume you have permits for the weapons being fired up here." Detective Maza stated to Xanatos about having everything legal.

"Of course." Xanatos answered back as Goliath had been watching them to see just what had been happening.

"Excuse me Mr. Xanatos but there seems to be some trouble in the kitchen with our new guests." Owen spoke walking up to them while they were talking.

"I hope I've answered all your questions satisfacorily detective Maza, Owen allow the Detective to have a look around. After all, we've got nothing to hide. Please excuse me." Xanatos spoke going to take care of whatever problem was happening.

"Of course, if you'll come with me." Owen spoke gesturing for Detective Maza to follow him so that he could show her around the place.

"Hold on, that gargoyle up there looked like it moved." The detective spoke pointing up to where the old one of Goliath's group had been standing.

"Ah yes, they came with the castle you see." Owen spoke walking off to take care of some things letting her check around the place.

The Detective had begun her investigation about what had been going on looking around in different rooms coming across one that hadn't been given the modern touch of electric lighting and so had to use a flashlight to look around. Little did she know something was following, it was the doglike Gargoyle Beast that'd been following her scent. She'd leaned over the stone railing outside the stairs once she got to the top seeing just how high up they really were and heard something so she'd pinned herself agianst the wall to see just what it was.

"Okay pal, let me see them nice and easy." She'd spoking taking out her gun just in case as the beast appeared and growled in response. That was when the one called Goliath had grabbed and crushed her gun.

The Detecive had still been a little caught off guard and slipped through the gaps in the stone accidentally falling off of the side of the building and Goliath jumped after her, he'd flown down grabbing onto her and spread out his wings so that he could glide the two of them off to safety atop part of another building nearby.

"Okay, okay, take just take it easy." She'd spoken to the large monsterious humanoid that had saved her.

"What were you doing in my castle?" Goliath had questioned the woman that was snooping around his home.

"Okay, you can talk that's good. Are you some sort of Alien, we're a long way from Bellwood or Omnitrix City." The detective questioned about what he was.

"My kind are of this world but we do not have names, however you humans call me Goliath." He'd answered back stating that he wasn't an alien.

"Wait, your kind, so there's more of you?" She'd questioned him about there being more of his species around.

Taking a deep breath Goliath reponds "Barely. My kind are the Gargoyles." He'd answered back and began to leave.

"Wait, don't go. We need to either get down to the street or up to the castle, can you fly with those wings?" Detective Maza spoke asking if he was able to fly.

"No I can only glide on currents of winds, though if there are winds strong enough I can appear to do so." Goliath answered back about not being able to fly ususally.

"So then we're stuck here?" She'd questioned looking at the ground below them not sure just how they'd manage to get down.

Letting out an annoyed growl Goliath picked up the woman in front of him placing her onto his back with her arms around his neck stating "Hold on." and began to climb his way back up stabbing his claws into the stone as he does so moving slowly back up towards the top of the building.

They'd gotten to the top and the Gargoyle Beast growled at them with the detective backing up stating "I forgot about him."

"He won't hurt you. Now once again, what are you doing here?" Goliath stated putting his hand on the beasts head as if he was petting a dog.

After some time the others of Goliath's clan had come to see just what's going on with the Eldest stating "A fine mess you've all made of that kitchen lads, I doubt we'll be allowed back in there again."

"Look Goliath is talking to that human." The smallest bipedal one spoke pointed up to where the conversation was taking place and they'd gone to see what was going on.

"So a thousand years ago you were betrayed by the one human you trusted." Detective Maza spoke making sure she got all the details right. "Does anyone else know about you?"

"The ones called Xanatos and Owen do, along with the invaders but other than that no I do not believe so." Goliath answered back about who all did know about them.

"Is this a new friend Goliath?" The red one of the group questioned sniffing at the detective unsure if she was welcome there or not.

"This is Elisa Maza, she's a Detective?" He'd spoken gesturing towards here but wasn't sure if he'd gotten the job title correct or not.

"Second Class NYPD." Elisa answered showing them her badge which they seemed to be curious about.

"What exactly does a detective do lass?" The elder one spoke as if the word detective had been something foreign to him.

"Well, when someone does something wrong I find out who and arrest them." She'd answered about what that was.

"Who says what's wrong?" Goliath questioned just how they could determine what was right and wrong.

"Well, we have a justice system, the people decide who's in charge of this system and those that are in charge decide what's right and wrong." She'd answered back explaining how all that worked.

"You mean the humans decide." Goliath answered back looking out to see the sun was starting to rise.

"Not just the humans, many different species across the whole universe decide what the laws are here." Elisa answered back about who makes the laws.

"You need to go now." Goliath told her as the sun was getting closer to rising in front of them telling her to leave.

"Wait, can I see you again? I'd like to know more about you. Let me teach you how this city and the new world you've found yourselves in works. I owe you that much for saving me from falling earlier." She'd stated to them wanting to help them better understand the world that they are now in.

"If we are to defend the castle I suppose we do need to be prepared for whatever's out there." Goliath spoke stating that it might prove helpful to do so.

"Tomorrow's my day off I can meet you in the afternoon at"After Dark. There on that rooftop."" Elisa had began to say but was cut off by Goliath stating it needed to be after dark and gestured to a roof to meet at.

She'd let out a slight chuckle from that and says "Why am I not surprised, alright after dark then." and headed off to leave them to whatever they needed to do.

"Goliath, Mr. Xanatos wishes to speak with you." Owen called waving over at them to get their attention.

We then cut to Goliath going over towards Xanatos who was sitting in a chair. "Please keep this brief Xanatos, my clan must sleep soon." he'd spoken walking over towards the man that had awoken them.

"Yes, I will. It would seem the invaders stole something from the Castle, the boxt they stole contained three of these special drives." He'd explained to them about what's going on showing him one of the drives to explain what he was talking about. "Think of them like Talisman each containing thousands of spells."

"Perhaps you should hire a Detective." Goliath spoke still trying to get used to the word handing the drive back to Xanatos.

"You're learning I see. Unfortunately there's only one detective I trust completely, and Mr. Vale is currently attending to other matters, as is his former apprentice. Detective Maza wouldn't be up to the job for handling this specific task." Xanatos stated about not having anyone that he could request take the job.

"What would you have us do?" Goliath questioned just what exactly he'd wanted them to do about it.

"My sources say that those guys worked for a rival company called Cyber Biotics." Xanatos explained showing him a video of where the locations are "The first is in a building on a small island near the bay, the second is deep beneath the city in a heavily fortified base, and the final one is in an air fortress that flies in a holding pattern over the city."

"Amazing, it's like a living tapestry." Goliath spoke about the video feed that was playing in front of them.

"The three places must be hit simultaneously so that they can't notify the others. It would be bad for everyone if the data was to be decrypted. We need to stop them before the spells can be translated." Xanatos stated to Goliath.

"This is much different than defending the castle, it will endanger the lives of my charges I cannot risk that." Goliath spoke stating that he wouldn't risk the lives of his clan on that.

"I understand. I will see if another of my associates will be able to help in this matter." Xanatos stated to them about finding an alternate option on what to do to handle the situation.

Later the next night the Gargoyles had woken up and the younger group members were about to leave when Goliath questions "Where are you going?"

"We wanted to see the city, since we're going to be living here it might be good to know our way around." The youngest of the group stated to Goliath about wanting to explore "We can't be cooped up in the castle all the time."

"Very well, but stay close to the building and stay out of trouble." Goliath answered allowing them to leave so they'd headed off to go explore.

Later we see Elisa going to the spot Goliath designated calling "Hello, anyone there?" while looking around. Goliath had come out of hiding startling her "Must you do that, you startled me." She'd stated asking if he really needed to sneak up on her like that.

"I wanted to make sure you were alone." Goliath answered back about why he had been hiding behind here.

"Don't worry I think I'd have to call the PHD to come out, no way the Precint I work at would be a match for you." Elisa answered back about coming alone.

"The PHD?" The old one questioned jumping down to join them "What exactly is this, PHD you speak of?"

"The Plumbers Hero Devision. Think of it like the highest ranking and strongest level of Knights." She'd explained to them about what the PHD are.

"What were you doing up there anyway?" Goliath questioned why the elder one had followed him to the building.

"Making sure you weren't being ambushed." The elder answered back about what he was doing following him.

"Wow, you guys are paranoid even for New York. So are you coming on the tour, uh.., what do I call you anyway?" She'd questioned the elder about just what to call them.

"Must you humans name everything, nothing is real to you until you've given it a name." The elder stated about humans naming everything.

"It's not like that, we use names because it's the easiest way to know who you are calling out to, like if you're in a crowd of others and Goliath was calling to you from a far what would he call out to get your attention specifically?" Elisa questioned about how they told each other apart.

"I would call him elder if we were in a group and I wanted to speak to him specifically." Goliath answered back about how he'd get their attention.

"Fair enough I suppose." Elisa answered back about how exactly they were supposed to refer to the oldest of Goliath's clan.

"Tell me lass, does the sky need to be given a name, or the river, does it need a name also?" The elder questioned about humans naming everything.

"The river is called the Hudson." Elisa answered about what the humans named the river that was off in the distance.

"Very well, then you may call me the Hudson as well." The Elder, Hudson, answered about choosing a name.

"So time for the tour, you coming with us Hudson?" Elisa told them as the elder Gargoyled looked down over the city.

"I think not, this world is too big, too bright, and too loud. I will return to the caslte to stand guard there now that I know Goliath is safe." The newly named Hudson stated taking off to go back to the castle.

Goliath had flown Elisa around the city as she'd gestured to different places and explained what they were to him so that he'd better know the layout of the city and as they were doing their tour they'd noticed some people causing trouble down below them.

"Time for me to do my job, even if it's my day off." Elisa stated as Goliath had flown down to an alleyway and she'd walked out asking "Aren't you boys late for a club meeting?"

"Oh it just keeps getting better." One of the guys with a chain spoke as they'd turned their attention onto her.

"Police, I'm warning you guys to back off and go home." She'd stated showing them her badge but they'd still gone after here. "Well don't say I didn't warn you." She'd spoken before kicing one of of them in the gut and then put her hands together hitting the guy in the side of the head knocking him over.

The other two tried to attack but she'd stomped one of the guys' foot before headbutting them int he chin, and when the guy with the chain swung down Goliath had stepped in catching the chain as his eyes flashed white and he'd thrown the guy into a nearby dumpster.

The guy they'd helped had been caught by surprise but soon adjusted to the shock going over to Goliath and used both of his hands to lift Goliath's much larger right hand saying "Thank you, really, I don't know why you'd be so far from Omnitrix City or Bellwood but I'm glad to have had the help you two really saved our butts back there."

"Er, you are.. wel-come." Goliath spoke rather confused by being thanked for helping since he wasn't used to it not having gotten much thanks from the humans of the castle he protected in the past.

"Y'know Goliath you'd make a good cop. Hey we've got some muggers over on Nineth Street." Elisa stated as she'd put the muggers in cuffs and called for someone to come and get them.

Once that'd all been taken care of they'd headed off to the park where they'd just been sorta strolling around as Goliath states "In some ways this world isn't much different to the one from a thousand years ago, but in other's it's changed far more than I could have ever imagined." He'd stated while someone had the barrel of a gun pointed at him from off hidden in the bushes.
