This Chapter is about 7 and Ace mostly during Fenric
…..
'I used to think one day we'd tell the story of us
How we met and the sparks flew instantly
And people would say, "They're the lucky ones"
I used to know my place was the spot next to you
Now I'm searchin' the room for an empty seat
'Cause lately I don't even know what page you're on'
'I am not ready to do this,' the Doctor tells the TARDIS as his companion Ace is changing clothes to fit in the time period for once. 'She's still so young. Why did you bring us here?'
"Are you talking to the TARDIS again," his companion, Ace asks.
"I was getting impatient waiting for you. What took you so long?"
"She had me do up my hair," she grabs her jacket but doesn't put it on. They walk out together to find a light drizzle. The Doctor listens and jokes with her but isn't looking forward to when he is going to have to hurt her later.
'Oh, a simple complication
Miscommunications lead to fallout
So many things that I wish you knew
So many walls up, I can't break through'
Ace meets two girls her age, the Doctor is happy for her and hopes they don't fall victim to the plot that is unfolding. She also meets a woman named Kathleen that has a baby girl named Audrey. The Doctor knows who they are in relation to Ace. While the Doctor heads out at night and Ace goes to sleep he walks around. 'I don't want to do anything to harm her. She is like a daughter to me. Oh Dorothy you mean more to me than most besides Susan and Vicki. In fact you mean as much to me as they did.'
'Now I'm standin' alone in a crowded room
And we're not speakin'
And I'm dyin' to know, is it killin' you
Like it's killin' me? Yeah
I don't know what to say since the twist of fate
When it all broke down
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now'
She can't believe what the Doctor just said. An emotional cripple. She didn't even get the chance to pass her chemistry exams. He tries to apologize to her. "I didn't mean it. I had to say something that would make you lose your faith in me." Well he did a bloody good job of it. He wipes the tears off her face. No one has ever done that for her. They make their way to Maiden's point; she is still angry at him, but angry at herself for loving that baby. Her Mum. She jumps into the freezing cold water and comes out no longer angry with the Professor.
'Next chapter
How'd we end up this way?
See me nervously pulling at my clothes and tryin' to look busy
And you're doin' your best to avoid me
I'm starting to think one day I'll tell the story of us
How I was losin' my mind when I saw you here
But you held your pride like you should've held me'
"Next stop Perival." He pulls down a lever, Ace has been laughing more after he told her more about Fenric and what he had to do.
"Can you just leave me somewhere to call my friends."
"I want to see everyone that loves you, what are you embarrassed by me?"
"Maybe how you dress," she makes a face at him.
"You wound me, Ace, I have impeccable dress sense. The question marks, the straw hat." He smiles as Ace laughs loudly.
"What?"
"I love it when you laugh."
"Don't go all mushy on me Professor," she smiles at him as they land.
Oh, I'm scared to see the ending
Why are we pretending this is nothin'?
I'd tell you I miss you, but I don't know how
I've never heard silence quite this loud'
"Tell me about him," they are on the couches in the library.
"Huh."
"Stop acting dumb, we both know you are far from that Professor."
"Ok, are you comfortable?"
"I am," she truly is after everything that happened, the Professor made her some tea that tasted differently, but he said he put something special in it because he could tell her feelings for Karra were strong.
"We met in school."
"You mean; that the two of you go way back like ancient times back."
"Hush you, I may be over 900."
"9 what."
"Hundred."
"You are ancient." She laughs again. "Before we left I went to go talk to Shreela and she said something."
"What?"
"You seemed more like a parent figure to me than anything else."
"You do remind me of my Granddaughter Susan at times." She just stares at him.
'Now I'm standin' alone in a crowded room
And we're not speakin'
And I'm dyin' to know, is it killin' you
Like it's killin' me? Yeah
I don't know what to say since the twist of fate
When it all broke down
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now'
"Now let me tell you more about the Master. When I left Gallifrey I didn't see him for years. I was in my third regeneration when I saw him. The face that was on my badge when we ran into UNIT not that long ago." He looks at Ace. "Ace."
"Sorry just processing the fact you had a Granddaughter you never told me about."
"We left Gallifrey together, I left her in the future because she found love."
"Did she want to leave?"
"No."
"Professor, she had what I assume was a loving Grandfather."
"I wanted her to be safe and happy. In less than a year we ran into the Daleks twice, then maybe 6 months after she left I ran into them again."
"Very loving then, wait, what does that make me? Chop Liver?"
"Oh Ace, I am trying to teach you things."
"Like how to be manipulative."
"I'm sorry for that. You know I am. You are the last person I want to hurt."
"I know, when I thought you were dead, it was unbearable. I haven't felt that much pain since losing Manisha."
'This is looking like a contest
Of who can act like they care less
But I liked it better when you were on my side
The battle's in your hands now
But I would lay my armor down
If you said you'd rather love than fight'
Months had gone by since everything with Fenric and the Master when the two of them land on a different planet. "Come on Ace," he shouts.
"Coming," he steps out and steps back in.
"Nope."
"Nope what, come on Professor." Ace steps out and comes face to face with a woman she hadn't seen in years. "Mum."
"What are you doing in that Blue Box?"
"It's my home. The only home I've ever had."
"Ace, want to go somewhere else," the Doctor pokes his head out.
"Who are you?"
"I'm the Doctor, and I care about Ace. Come on Ace."
'So many things that you wish I knew
But the story of us might be ending soon'
"You took me to see my Mother?" She is passing the TARDIS console room, pissed.
"Not on purpose Ace, believe me please."
"How can I believe you? For the past 6 months all you have been doing is telling me lie after lie. I get it you have to lie, but not to the person you introduce as your friend."
"This time I am telling you the truth. Please Ace."
"No Doctor, not this time. I will give you one more chance, but hear me on this. If you cross me one more time; it will be the last time I darken the TARDIS."
'Now I'm standin' alone in a crowded room
And we're not speakin'
And I'm dyin' to know, is it killin' you
Like it's killin' me? Yeah
And I don't know what to say since the twist of fate
When it all broke down
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now, now, now
And we're not speakin'
And I'm dyin' to know, is it killin' you
Like it's killin' me? Yeah
I don't know what to say since the twist of fate
'Cause we're goin' down
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now'
"Remember what I said last time."
"Ace."
"No, Time Lord. I am done. You tricked me into blowing up innocent aliens this time. I can't do this anymore. Take me home."
'The end'
As Ace leaves the TARDIS she doesn't look back. She is tired of all the manipulation by the Doctor and of time.
