Chapter 41: The Tutor, Events of Instrumental Importance
The following days, the entire Phantomhive household was conscious of the deliberate distance Sebastian kept from Selina and his unreasonable anger towards her, ignited by almost everything she did. The atmosphere in the manor was filled with tension and frustration; Sebastian was never openly rude to the tutor - as he never was to anyone - but Bard, Mey-Rin and Finny knew very well how to detect his bad mood. He was treating Selina exactly as he did them; words filled with covered irony and always finding faults in every chore she did.
Truth is, Selina also seemed not herself, becoming a little sloppy in many things as she always had a distant, deep in thought look in her eyes. What worried the trio more, was that the tutor never talked back to Sebastian, as it would be normal for her; she only accepted his reprimands and complains, sighing patiently or at least glaring at him when he did not look, and there was always a sad expression on her face when doing that.
"Something really serious has happened this time, yes, it has!" Mey-Rin stuttered one day, while they were all in the kitchen; except the couple discussed, of course.
"Do ya think they fought?" Bard asked chewing his cigarette and then left a tsk sound and a sigh, as Mey-Rin nodded. "Then they broke up, already?"
"What? No! I do not want Mr. Sebastian and Miss Selina apart! I want them to be together and love each other!" Finny said at the verge of tears.
"Finny boy, things are not that easy and simple between adults. You will see for yourself when time comes... says Oscar." Snake said making Finny sadder. Mr. Tanaka let a soft "Ho!" and patted the boy's blond hair quite fatherly.
"Still, they were just fine a few days ago! After Miranda's visit, it feels like everything changed." Mey-Rin seriously wanted to find out the truth.
"Indeed... Ever since you returned from the townhouse, I have not seen them heading for the east wing at nights, like before. Smile's tutor goes to her room and Black wanders around almost all night, every night... says Bronte." Snake contributed again.
"What?" Bard seemed too shocked. "Then there's a serious lovers' quarrel between them! That's why Sebastian is so angry! It's the... the... the... how it's called?"
"Abstinence frustration?... says Oscar."
"Yeah, exactly!"
"Then we must investigate!" Mey-Rin announced with a determined gleam in her eyes as she straightened her glasses. The others looked at her surprised. They would never understand this woman; rooting so hard for the man she liked being with another woman, her friend no less... That maid was so strange.
"I want in! I want in too!" Finny yelled enthusiastically. His eyes sparkled.
"Oh, my boy! Please, leave the grown-ups deal with it. They know how to approach them!" Mr. Tanaka said, obviously wanting to protect Finny's innocence.
With no delay, they sat down to make a plan of capturing their preys... actually prey, because they soon agreed it was impossible to catch Sebastian off guard. Plus, the thought of how he would repay them, was not appealing at all.
They put their plan in action one evening, after Selina finished a philosophy lesson with the young Earl, and was heading to the kitchen to get a glass of cool lemonade to fight off the still hot weather, in the last days of August.
She was absentminded and quite relaxed, when out of the blue, hands appeared from a room and pulled her in; one shutting her mouth while others grabbed her waist and hands to prevent her from fighting. In a second, she found herself cornered to a wall and something a little slippery crawling around her, confining her arms and body in its leathery coils. A familiar trembling voice begged her not to scream and when her eyes focused saw a terrified Mey-Rin, surprised by her own audacity, standing in front of Selina, lifting her hand from the woman's lips while apologizing, and Bard and Snake at her sides, Goethe's narrow face also entered her vision and the intelligent snake seemed to smile at her ironically.
"Guys… what the hell?" Selina asked as soon as she evened her breathing.
"Actually, we should ask that." Bard said leaning on the wall next to her, chewing his unlit cigarette. He sighed and rolled his eyes when the woman looked confused, obviously not understanding. "What the hell is going on between ya and Sebastian? He barks at ya all the time for no reason."
"Yes, and he always finds mistakes in whatever you do. He treats you like he does to us when obviously you are better than us, yes you are. Even when you look distracted, like you do these days." Mey-Rin added with worry evident in her big hazel eyes. "Plus, you look so sad all the time." There was a winkle of concern between her eyebrows.
"And you have more than a week to meet up at night and… spend time together as a couple… says Goethe." Snake said blushing a little at his snake's innuendo, while the reptile kept smiling at Selina and for a moment she thought it even winked at her.
"And before ya say that ya're fine or just had a small argument, like many other times, I'll tell ya we ain't buying it, because this time ya both seem worse, like ya already have or are about to break up for good! I mean... even I can see that!" The chef seemed really upset by that prospect and the others too.
Selina remained silent looking at each one, closed her eyes and sighed seemingly giving up. When she opened them again, looked at the snake still wrapped around her in a way that made the serpent gulp and hastily retreat back on Snake's shoulders, she then gave the others the same look and made them take a step back.
"As I have told you again in the past, you are becoming too nosey, guys. What happens between me and Sebastian is solely our business, and as long as it does not affect our duties, then no one has any right to interfere. We, and only we, will decide whether we will continue or stop our relationship and what will happen next. We both are adults and very capable of deciding what we want or not!" She seemed quite intimidating.
"Y-Yes, you are right Selina, b-but you are such a beautiful couple, I mean… w-we all root for you and we do not like you two to be separate, and moreover, you just accepting S-Sebastian's reprimands without saying anything, only glaring at him… it seems unnatural, yes it does!" Mey-Rin said and her face turned tomato red.
"You never missed a chance to show Black when he gets to your nerves and he did the same, but now he seems always angry with you, and it is like you have given up and accept anything he says and does to you… like you have lost your courage… says Goethe."
Selina looked at Snake not believing her ears. "I have lost my courage? At least I had some in order to lose it, in contrast to all of you, who never had one to begin with!" She looked really angry now with eyes shining not friendly at all.
The three servants opened theirs widely. Bard tried to stutter something, but Selina cut him off.
"Snake, you blush furiously every time Lady Elizabeth comes here with Paula… but never found the courage to even stand beside the girl, let alone talk to her." The pale young man turned to rosy red, opening and closing his lips like a fish unable to respond. Selina turned to the others. "And you two, I am not saying you should necessarily get together, but have you ever thought about it, especially since young master doesn't seem to care about his servants' private life? I am rooting for all of you, so should I interfere and hook you up accordingly, just because I find you, Bard and Mey, a nice couple and you, Snake, cute with Paula? Would you feel okay with me pushing you to do things that for your own reasons do not want to or can't do? Would you like me to act like you did now and interrogate you like this?"
They all lowered their eyes to the floor embarrassed, Mey-Rin was twirling the hem of her apron between her fingers and Bard was scratching the back of his neck, while Snake was standing motionless.
"W-We just wanted to help if we could…" Mey-Rin mumbled and the others nodded in agreement.
They obviously seemed genuinely sorry making Selina's anger evaporate like always. She sighed and wrapped an arm around each man's neck pulling them to a hug, in a way that they squeezed Mey-Rin between them, bringing her closer for Selina to touch the maid's forehead with her own.
"Guys… I know you care about me and… Sebastian - as oxymoron as that sounds - but… there are times when people need to make some decisions totally on their own with no influences from others. Haven't you ever thought I have my reasons to be accepting Sebastian's hostile behavior without saying anything, and he has his own reasons to act like that towards me?"
"But… if he cares about ya then why-?" Bard could not understand, but Selina's look stopped him.
"Each creature has its own way to feel and act. Sebastian has this way and I have decided to accept it, for the time being. If you must know, certain events brought us to a point, where we both must decide if or how this relationship will continue, so Sebastian needs time and in the meantime we… take a break, let's say." She smiled and released them from the hug.
Mey-Rin squealed suddenly and blushed once again. "C-Certain events? D-Do not tell me that-that… you are pregnant?!" She squealed again and the two men beside her goggled their eyes.
"Eh?" Selina said, not instantly realising what she heard, but a second later it dawned to her, and started laughing. "Pregnant? No, no way! I assure you I am not! I could never… there is no chance for that, I assure you! Mey, stop dreaming and return to Earth, please!" She said to the red haired, who was already daydreaming about a little boy – or girl, she did not mind – with blue eyes and raven black curls smirking at her just like his parents do.
Selina, shaking the maid's shoulders, managed to bring her back to reality, but the dreamy twinkle in her eyes was not lost. After a couple of minutes Selina spent bringing them back to order, made them promise to stop imagining wild things, or at least not openly talk about them, and not play similar tricks on her again, because she would get angry and was serious about it. She finally opened the door and turned to leave, when bumped on a black dressed chest she knew very well.
Sebastian was standing - who knew how long - right at the door and now was looking down at Selina sternly as she lifted her eyes to him. Bard and Mey-Rin almost swallowed their tongues seeing him staring so darkly and Snake remained silent.
"Bard, Mey-Rin, Snake and… Miss Clark… taking a break, are we?" He asked and a malevolent smile spread on his handsome lips. "Again." He added.
"No, Mr. Michaelis. They just wanted to ask me to assist them in preparing for dinner, since the Midford family and lady Sieglinde will join our lord tonight." Selina jumped in since the others were unable to think of something.
"How thoughtful… but unnecessary as I would assign you to assist, either way. Everyone, go to the kitchen, call Finny and Mr. Tanaka too and I will be with you shortly to assign your tasks for tonight."
The others responded in unison and walked out of the room as soon as Sebastian moved to the side, unblocking the exit, but pulling Selina to him before fleeing.
"I hope you properly quelled their gossiping curiosity and wild fantasy, without revealing much." He whispered coldly in her ear as soon as the three disappeared at the end of the corridor. Placing a finger under her chin turned her head to look at him.
Selina did look at his red burning eyes with her own blue angry flames. "Mr. Michaelis, you constantly underestimate me! I am not stupid as you may think, and allow me to remind you, it would be bad for both of us and our master if the servants' thoughts dwell on our situation for long and start making assumptions or even figuring things out." The demon smirked evidently doubting the humans' capacity in thinking and discovering the truth; that angered Selina more. "Mr. Michaelis, you are being too cocky! Yes, they might not be the sharpest tools in the shed, but there is no chance not to notice your hostility towards me, even a blind man would see. No one is forcing you to decide quickly about what kind of relationship we two will have or about what your decision will be, but if you would be so kind as to keep your aversion towards my person hidden from the public eye. It would make things easier for all of us and we are both professionals, we can't allow our feelings out in the open affecting our work. I apologize for any sloppiness or neglect from my part these days, it will not happen again, I assure you." She was cold and formal on the outside, but inside she was ready to explode releasing all she held inside all these days.
"Hostility and aversion? I believe you need a demonstration, especially of the last one." He growled with red vibrant eyes and feeling his body getting hot, tried to push her in the room; seeing her eyes burning like that got him so unbearably excited.
Selina was quick enough to grab the door-frame with one hand, the moment Bard was heard from the kitchen, calling they were ready and waiting for them. The witch looked at the demon quite provocatively with an impish light smile on her lips.
At that moment he had forgotten everything about decisions, changing and shaping both of their lives; the only thing he wanted was to wipe that smile and look from her face, by making her struggle for breath in between some of his roughest kisses that would make her scream his name in desperate need… But, luckily for her, he could not indulge himself in something like that right there and then; therefore, he released her and followed her in the kitchen. They had work to do and Sebastian had to find another way and chance to push the woman to her limits.
{~}
Sebastian could not deny Selina was right. His anger and somehow rude attitude towards her was indeed drawing the servants' attention, and having the imbeciles meddling in their affairs more than they already did, was the last thing he needed; therefore, he changed tactic. Now, he was cold and professional in his interactions with Selina, without bothering her more than necessary – since she too had collected herself and became as efficient as before – and never seeking to get alone with her… even though he wanted it greatly; especially when remembering she had cried for the sake of that Paul after so long, and wanted to erase him from her memory for good.
One day, he was dusting the books in the library when the door opened and Selina entered the room; she was looking for him and was relieved to finally find him alone. Her cheeks were slightly red and her sad, stoic eyes stared at him for a long second before turning away. Sebastian could not help but be amused by that; he had seen her quite a few times stealing glances at him when she thought he was not looking, and although he did not like to see her sad – even her aura was weak these days – it spoke volumes to him, helping him get to a decision.
"To what can I help you, Miss Clark?" He asked casually with an emotionless look in his mahogany eyes.
Selina attempted a couple of times to talk, but regretted it feeling her heart beating faster by the second; she finally took a deep breath and calmed down. "I just wanted to ask, if you have given any thought to… our situation, Mr. Michaelis, and if you are getting close to a decision." She said and let out the breath she was holding.
"Hmm… I thought that just a few days ago you told me not to rush things. What changed?" He arched an eyebrow and tried to control the vicious smirk wanting to spread on his lips. "And what about you? Have you come to a decision?"
Selina leaned on a table. "My decision is not that important." She said quickly and blushed a little more. "Nothing changed, it's just that…" Again she lost the words.
Sebastian chuckled as he put down the dust cloth he held. "Getting impatient, are we? Perhaps even frustrated about certain night-time activities we shared?" His smile was so smug that Selina felt a hot wave rushing through her, igniting her fury because he always made her feel embarrassed when acting like that.
"What? What are you talking about? I mean that you need to decide where we stand, in order for us to be able to perform our duties towards young master with nothing hindering us." She said with furrowed eyebrows.
Unfortunately, she was not fast enough to move away from the heavy, marble table and in a flash found herself cornered by the demon and the table behind her. His body was flushed on hers as he towered above her, his face inches away from hers and his arms snaking around her waist pulling her even closer. His eyes burned hungrily and lewdly.
"It is alright. We can relieve our pent up lust, independently from our decision… it might even help us on that matter." He groaned as his tongue teased her ear and continued further down, making her shudder in his arms; a wave of ecstasy also crashed in his insides as he breathed in her scent.
Selina felt losing herself for a few moments, when his appendage touched her skin, while he was making his way to her throat excruciatingly slowly and tasting every inch, but she had set a goal for herself and was determined to reach it. She tried to push him away with all her strength.
"N-No, no Sebastian! St-stop! We can't… we mustn't! I don't want-" A sound between cry and moan escaped her throat as Sebastian had reached her collar bone and lightly bit the skin there, leaving her breathless.
He lifted his head and looked at the woman with his red, fiery eyes behind black long lashes. "Beast perhaps was fantasizing Joker while I was with her… You can fantasize Paul if it pleases you... although I will erase him completely." Now he sounded angry, as he pulled Selina's already unbuttoned shirt away to reveal her shoulder to his hungry eyes and mouth.
His words threw Selina violently back to reality, able now to resist the sensations he caused her while feasting on her skin, tried to push him again. She could not move him at all and left with no choice, she allowed her right hand to be wrapped in blue flame; it became transparent and pushed through Sebastian's chest, only until the flames at the tips of her fingers brushed on his spiritual essence. He cried out in pain - mostly because her action caught him off guard - his hold on her body loosened and that was the chance Selina waited. She pushed him away with her left hand, retreated her right one extinguishing her flames, and as soon as he moved back, her right palm landed harshly on his cheek; his surprise surpassed the momentary pain by the flames.
After blinking a few times, he turned to Selina, already retreating to the door pulling her shirt back in place; sadness had fled her eyes and now were consumed by anger as she stared at the demon with furrowed brows.
"How dare you?" She said in a low dangerous voice. "How can you liken me to Beast? Why would I ever fantasize Paul while being with you?"
"I have no idea; but you were the one staring at your pictures with him. Crying and wondering how things would be if he had not abandoned you or if you had not lost the baby!" Sebastian responded running a hand through his hair obviously quite furious too. Selina's eyes opened wide and her eyebrows flew up to her forehead; Sebastian chuckled. "You were so focused and absorbed by your drama, you never sensed me." He made a disparaging sound.
"Yes, I was; no, I didn't sense you and yes, I did wonder how things could have turned out. Just like every human does at some point in life. Just like Finny wonders what if he had been shot first by the crazed doctor, Mey-Rin wonders what if she had not been taken in by the mafia group, Bard wonders what if he had not been the one to survive and our master keeps wondering what if nothing had happened. It is only natural for us to ask such questions; it does not mean we expect an answer or we wish for things to not have happened… Strangely enough, that night I received an answer to my questions and I decided…" That seemed to pique Sebastian's attention more and stared waiting for her to go on, but she shook her head. "No, I am not going to tell you, not until you decide on your own, unbiased by my words. I'll just have you know I never fantasized anyone else while we were making love, and the answer I got made me understand there is no reason to even think of Paul anymore." Her eyes seemed ready to tear up.
Without allowing him to collect his thoughts, she opened the door and fled the library running. Sebastian remained standing there, not moving a muscle. Slowly, a smirk that became smile appeared on his face, and he was obviously pleased with something as he chuckled in a very low voice.
"Oh, my beautiful Selina… Your mind and mouth are withholding your decision from me, giving me the freedom to decide, but your eyes, body and everything about you gives you away. So… it was never "just sex" as you thought, huh? We were always making love." He chuckled again completely satisfied with himself and, after managing to control his arousal, returned back to his work.
{~}
Late in the evening, when Selina had nothing else to do, she got out, went to a somehow secluded corner of the huge garden and sat down on the grass. She stared at the twilight, when the sky is a canvas of the most beautiful and fiery colours and afterwards, when it turns into the darkest blue almost black, with the stars shining like sequins on black velvet clothe. She liked to be outside at that hour, it always comforted her because the air was filled with the intoxicating smell of night flowers and the songs of night birds singing happily for their day that just started.
She was lost in her thoughts and had lost track of time until the heavy footsteps of the chef approached. He stood beside her and dangled a bottle in front of her eyes.
"Will ya do me the honor of accompanying me in a drink, my lady? It really helps clearing yer mind, ya know." He said as the woman accepted the bottle with beer, and Bard landed a little ungracefully beside her with his in hand.
Selina smiled at him, they clinked their bottles and took a drink. Bard actually took a sip but Selina downed almost half bottle in one go. However, when she stopped, her face and eyes were so red like they were on fire and started coughing like crazy. Bard patted her back telling her to take it easy.
"What the hell is that thing?" She managed to ask when finally took a proper breath.
"Well… My recipe. It's a nice, quite strong beer along with some extras." The chef chuckled lighting a cigarette.
"What kind of extras exactly? Dynamite?" Selina asked unbuttoning the top of her shirt and trying to fan herself with it. "Good gracious! This is not a drink, it indeed is dynamite!" She exclaimed after Bard telling her he had actually added a drop of every liquor he found in the manor and could get his hands on, without Sebastian sniffing him out.
"It may be a bomb, but it really helps when ya think a lot and can't sleep!" Bard winked at her and took one more sip; he wiped his lips with the back of his hand. "And I must say girl, ya look really worried and bothered by something, so ya need that medicine to get ya sleeping… Oi, I apologize for what we did the other day, it was just that we couldn't find ya alone and relaxed to discuss leisurely. However, if you need to talk… I'm all ears!"
Selina looked at him while taking another sip and then coughed a little. "Thanks, really but… I don't think anyone can help with this."
"Hey, I might be able to enlighten ya on the Sebastian matter; just like me, he is a human and a man!" Bard said a little sluggishly as the 'water of fire' he had mixed was taking effect on him.
Selina chuckled. "He sure is the second one!" She took one more big sip. Bard nudged her shoulder with his and signalled for her to talk; the woman sighed. "Okay, you want to help? Then, tell me why all men are jerks?"
"Wha? Not all, thank ya very much. How can ya say that, do ya have proof?" Bard said swaying right where he sat.
"All of them, with no exception. You want proof? Fine." Selina said now in a similar state as that of the chef. "After my cousin's death, my aunt hated me and called me a demon, death and all those 'beautiful' things, and my uncle… did next to nothing about it, other than keep her away. He never defended me or came to my aid when I needed him. He was supposed to be like a father to me, but became a stranger, never standing up against his wife." She said in one breath and drank some.
"Yer uncle was a chicken, I admit that."
"Next are all my male bosses. The times I was good at my job; fast, with minimum loses in plates and glasses, always smiling and the customers liked me enough to give me a tip, but…" She emphasized that. "I always ended up getting fired, because I was 'stealing' away job and tips from the other waitresses, and especially the ones that were… screwing the boss, every time... Unless, I chose to let them screw me."
Bard with totally blurry eyes chuckled still swaying. "They wele leally jelks." He hiccuped.
Selina nodded but ended up quite dizzy from the movement. "And then comes… Paul! 'I love you Selina, you are my everything, I am the happiest, luckiest man in the world to have you but… you can't have children anymore… I'm sorry, I'll leave you and go have kids with some other chick, because I have no use of you anymore.'" Her cheeks and all of her body were on fire.
"Wha? Was thele a man who did that to ya? Asshole!" Bard howled and fell back on the soft grass.
"And last but not least, our one and only Sebastian!" Selina raised her bottle like making a toast to the demon, and downed the rest of the drink that must have been a hundred percent alcohol. "He has no human emotions, no human desires and is disgusted by humans having sex, but then out of the blue he wants me, lusts for me! 'My dear Selina, you are not my food or toy, but I will seduce and fuck the hell out of you, until you won't be able to resist even a look from me!'" She was trying to mimic the demon and had not realised it but tears were streaming down her face. "'But when it comes to a decision on whether we will be together for centuries or not… I'm yelling at you, I'm cold and mean as a proper demon, because…'" She sobbed and now was crying so hard that the half asleep Bard woke up. "'Because I'm not a man enough to say I feel nothing for you, I was just passing my time and don't want you clinging to me for centuries, but hey… I can still fuck you even if you fantasize someone else; just like Beast did… just like a beast.'" Her last words were drowned in her tears. She clutched her chest in pain.
Bard did not understand more than half of what she said, and was not sure it was because of the Beer Bomb - as he was calling his recipe - but was certain that one of the strongest women he knew was now crying like a small child for the sake of the handsome yet so cruel butler. He embraced her shoulders and pulled his 'little sister' to lie down with him.
"As for me… I knew all that, I was certain I would not fall, I was certain this was dead." Selina said punching her chest at the place of her heart. "It should be dead, but now… now it beats so loudly for him, even if I know there will be no response from his part. I'm so ridiculous!" She covered her face with her palms and hid in Bard's embrace.
She cried some more, but then her sobbing slowly faded as a deep drunken sleep took over both cook and tutor under the starlight sky of autumn. She had no idea how long she had been sleeping, when a sudden sound invaded her confused mind; soon she realised it was Bard's loud snoring making her jump. She felt so dizzy and her mouth was so dry that in combination with how hot she felt, made her think she was in some desert with no water. She sat up and attempted to wake Bard up but was met with utter failure; and then turned her gaze at the other side and almost jumped again scared to death. When she lifted her eyes further up, saw the familiar, black figure of the demon butler and his black aura was stronger and more intimidating, as he looked down at her and the chef still snoring happily.
Arms crossed on chest and eyes burning murderously. "What on Earth is this pathetic display?" He said in a cold voice.
"What's your problem?" Selina responded with a growl and a frown like an angry cat.
Sebastian sighed disappointed. "My problem is that you are both drunk to a ridiculous level, and I expected nothing less from that imbecile but not from you, Selina!" In a flash he caught Selina attempting to stand on her shaky legs; she slapped his hands away and after some staggering regained her balance.
"I no need help from you!" She mumbled and grabbed the bottles she and Bard had drank from and now Sebastian was giving her, before he pulled the still sleeping chef from the ground and hauled him over his shoulder, not very gently. "I'll go wash these, they can be used again." She said and started towards the manor's back door.
"You should go to bed and sleep, you look awful!" The strict voice of the butler said.
"And what do you care? I'll be okay by morning; I'm not drunk just a little dizzy, I won't… I'll do my duties. You're not my father or anything to tell me what to do!" She managed to yell at him, turned her back and found her way to the manor after quite a few zigzags.
Sebastian was fuming as he kept looking at the woman, his eyes drilling burning holes at the back of her head, like he really wanted to see what was going on in her mind. He sighed, wondering how she managed to excite and infuriate him with almost everything she said and did. Even drunk, with a flushed sweaty face and blurry eyes, saying nonsense, she managed to make him feel weird. He took Bard to the servants' room and threw him ungraciously to his bed; he would deal with him in the morning.
"He insists on laying hands on what is mine! I will most definitely not lose to a human... regardless of my decision!" He thought while dusting his tailcoat, removing any soiling particles coming from the drunken chef.
He went to the kitchen, where he found Selina almost sleeping standing, struggling to wash the bottles; she was trying really hard to keep her eyes open. Sebastian removed tailcoat and gloves and rolled up his sleeves sighing again.
"Leave them; I will take care of them." He said as he moved closer.
Selina jumped surprised, but her sleepy face turned to a scowl as soon as she saw him. "I said I don't need help!" She said with hoarse voice like she was about to cry.
Before she realised, Sebastian was standing behind her, blocking her as he brought his hands under the running water. He covered her hands with his and started guiding them to do the work. His touch felt like a caress to the woman and the feeling of his breath on her cheek made her even dizzier. She attempted to take her hands away but failed, she attempted to push him back, but did the mistake of doing it by pressing her bottom on him. A sudden deep groan escaping the male demon's throat startled her and then made her blush furiously as he spoke in a similar manner.
"Do not push me, if you please… I cannot guarantee I will be able to hold for much longer." His hot breath brushed the side of her neck and his fingers were squeezing hers.
Even though her mind and senses were quite numb from alcohol, she felt very aware when it came to the demon, and now was certain that his lips were only inches from her ear. Instinctively, her breathing became shallow and heavy and that seemed to be the last drop for the demon's patience to overflow; with a new groan his tongue took a taste of the woman's said ear and as soon as she moaned, his whole mouth joined nibbling at her soft appendage.
Her body was trembling and insides were quivering as he ravaged her ear; she did not realise how tight her hold on the bottle was, until a crack was heard and a sharp pain pierced her finger.
"That is why I told you to leave it to me… but you never listen, do you?" Sebastian said, as he immediately removed her hand from the broken bottle, inspected her small cut and with no warning placed her finger in his mouth, sucking the small drops of blood, while glancing at the woman with totally hungry eyes.
Selina was taken by surprise and unable to resist the sensation moaned again, closed her eyes and let her head fall back on the demon's shoulder, while her gasping breath landed on the demon's throat driving him crazy. The broken bottle laid forgotten in the sink, as Sebastian's other hand was exploring Selina's torso until he found the breasts he so longed to touch again, feeling them rising and falling following her heavy breathing. After meticulously cleaning the bleeding finger his mouth proceeded to her palm and then her tattooed wrist where his tongue traced once again the patterns of the seal binding her to the obnoxious stern reaper.
Selina was still standing up only thanks to the support of the man behind her, while her logic was struggling to remind her of her goal and push away her roaring desire for Sebastian. She mumbled something resembling to "No, Sebastian, please. We mustn't…" but it did not seem to stop the demon from covering her mouth with his in a deep kiss making her knees tremble more.
The next moment, she was pushed on a wall as Sebastian's body was glued on her and his hips grinding on hers, his hands igniting fires on her body and their lips locked in what now resembled a sensual battle for dominance. The water running from the tap and the couple's laboured breathing were the only sounds in the silent kitchen.
"My little witch, you always drive me crazy… I decide to keep my distance… but you make me fail… with one look, one word!" Sebastian was saying while tasting the skin of Selina's throat, collarbone and now the valley between her breasts, after having torn her shirt with a sudden impatient movement.
Selina's fingers were intertwined in his black silky locks, hugging his head. "You-You're the one who does that… You always do and say things that-" She couldn't go on as her breath was caught in her throat, when Sebastian's ministrations reached the sensitive centre of the plump muscle that was her left breast.
Her mind was now entirely lost in the fog alcohol along with Sebastian's seduction created; and although she felt a pain in her heart - like a hand tightening and crashing the muscled organ - and tears escaped her eyes, once again she could not, did not want to resist the sinfully alluring touch of the demon calling to her. She wanted to give in and that made her furious.
Sebastian's state was not that different; his fog was caused entirely by the trembling woman in his arms. Indeed, he had decided to stay away from her until he reached a final decision; he was determined to analyse all the information and facts in his hands, taking into consideration everything he had learned about Selina, and eventually come to a logical decision, after counting and comparing the pros and cons of being forever with the witch meant to be his mate, his life-time companion.
Unfortunately, every time he saw, smelled or heard her wandering around him, all logic thought fled from his mind. The image of Selina crying for Paul, and obviously still harbouring feelings for that insect, made his blood boil with fury again and that brought his demonic malevolence fully into power; but her stoic way of accepting everything, confused him even more, because he felt once again she was accepting him entirely.
Earlier, when she found him in the library, he thought of pushing her to her limits and that perhaps would help him understand towards whom her feelings leaned. He was right; he had hit a nerve by comparing her to the curly black haired doll he had used that night in the circus, and her anger along with her teary eyes and words was the proof he needed, even if she stubbornly kept denying on telling him her own decision. What she said – that her decision was not important and she wanted him to make up his mind unbiased – surprised him greatly.
Right at this moment, however, none of this mattered. What did matter were the hotness of her trembling body, the softness of her skin, the sound of her breathing, even if it stank pure alcohol, the little excited cries of arousal she let out and her soft, parted lips that welcomed his. That strangely humane but also magical creature excited him more than any hunt ever did, and gifted him such bliss that even the tastier soul could not surpass.
The so strong demon was again surprised when the woman pushed him back with all she had, until he bumped on the kitchen table. He looked at her and was speechless to see two blue eyes, no different from the ones of a hungry lioness, as she violently pulled off his tie and continued by opening his vest and shirt with one move, not caring where the buttons flew in the air. Her mouth landed on his slender throat nibbling and tasting the skin as she worked her way to his pale, smooth and well defined chest, while her hands headed lower and started tracing the outline of his growing erection through the trousers, teasing him mercilessly. These vicious attacks always pleased Sebastian and took his breath away, but this time her tongue was a little rougher due to alcohol and the sensation she gave him was twice the usual.
In a matter of couple of minutes, the demon - always proud of his ability to drive human women insane with pleasure - had lost in his own game. He was barely standing in front of the table, its edge broken by his grip, and panting, trying to regain control of his breath. The blond succubus that brought him to his knees lifted her head licking her lips, gifted him an impish smile while looking at him with her still blurry eyes, right before she pulled and pushed, landing him on a chair. Her hands worked really fast on releasing him from the confines of his trousers and then pulled her skirt up.
"Rip!" She ordered but the man did not understand. "Rip quickly!" She said again pulling at her drawers impatiently.
Sebastian, having regained part of his self-control, chuckled and did as told, destroying all of her underwear, before pulling her to him, helping her straddle him as he sheathed his manhood inside her. They both cried out, once again relishing at the magical moment of becoming one and after a long kiss they started moving.
What followed was wild; the chair was creaking close to the point of breaking as Sebastian realised this time Selina was the dominant one; she was the one making love to him, taking him deeper and deeper, again and again. She had her own rhythm and was guiding Sebastian to follow no matter what, as she kept mumbling, calling him an idiot for comparing her to Beast and for not seeing, not understanding. The demon wanted to ask what it was he did not see or understand, but was unable to articulate, all logic robbed from him as she claimed him so furiously. He could not deny he really enjoyed that new aggressive side of her – although he would prefer the same behaviour without being encouraged by alcohol consumption – and was more than happy to keep begging her for more.
When they finally reached a point their loins and thighs were trembling from successive waves of climaxing ecstasy, they almost collapsed on each other hugging affectionately. Selina's head leaned on Sebastian's shoulder as his arms circled her beautiful naked back drawing circles on sweaty skin with his black nailed fingers.
"Just a few months ago... if someone told me there would be a human to whom I would be happy to lose and surrender myself completely, while giving me so much pleasure through this fake body... that now feels so real... I would probably have laughed at and then kill them." He said and placed a light kiss at the shoulder closer to him.
He received no answer of any kind and soon realised it was because Selina - finally unable to resist her drunken state - had surrendered to Morpheus. Sebastian chuckled, although a little annoyed; he knew humans got hungry no matter the situation, now he learned they could also sleep in whatever position; like a woman straddling a man while still having him inside her!
He got up really carefully, placed Selina on the table and removed his member from her womanhood; she let out a small sound of disappointment that made him smirk proudly. He quickly buttoned his trousers, took off his shirt and wore it to Selina since most of her clothes were lying in pieces on the floor, picked her up and ran to the room they had used before. When he arrived there, placed her in bed after removing all of the remaining clothes on her, except his shirt – for some strange reason he liked it when she was wearing something of his on her naked body – and pulled the covers over her. The woman sighed and smiled perfectly satiated making the man think about jumping in bed with her right away, but resisted.
He ran back to the kitchen to collect the scattered pieces of clothing, dispose of the broken bottle and clean everything up. When done, the only thing left to do was replace the kitchen table and chair, witnesses to their wild and quite determining lovemaking; no one was present and his master would never find out, so with a snap of his fingers both furniture were good as new. Now he had three hours in his disposal before the day started, therefore he returned to the room, took off his clothes and slid under the covers.
Selina, still deeply asleep, turned to him and curled close to his chest. Sebastian hugged her and allowed himself to relax on the pillows. Now that his mind had cleared from anger, frustration, lust and doubts and she was in his arms, he could finally think and decide what he already suspected he desired above anything else.

Selina hadn't slept so soundly for days; it seemed Bard's concoction was indeed effective, even though her head hurt giving her the first serious hangover of her life. She stretched on the bed in a really cat-like manner and started opening her eyes. At first, the image was blurry and thought she was still dreaming, but then became clearer and the characteristic chuckle confirmed her suspicion; she was in bed with a very naked Sebastian leaning over her as he enjoyed the sight of her waking up. She sat up immediately almost jumping out of bed.
"What? What are we doing here and why are we together in bed… naked?" She said after seeing his lower body peeking under the covers as he too sat up, and feeling her own body naked only with a shirt on… his shirt!
"Well… you were sleeping off your intoxication caused by Bard's alcoholic bomb, and I must say you are very resilient since you needed only two hours of deep sleep to sober up… I had nothing else to do so... I joined you in bed and as for why are we naked, you know very well, my dear!" Sebastian smiled wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her to him while attacking the side of her neck with kisses.
"What?! No way!" Selina yelled terrified by what Sebastian implied. "That is impossible; we couldn't have done it, I couldn't have failed." She covered her face with her hands and tried to pull away from the demon.
That alarmed him quite a bit and stopped his advances; he looked at her with question in his eyes. "Why are you acting so surprised and even terrified? It is not the first time we make love so… passionately, the least. Oh… do not… do not tell me that… you have no memory of last night?" He asked seeing pure surprise in her eyes that could not be faked. She shook her head and he sighed quite annoyed.
For the next quarter of the hour, he was narrating to Selina exactly what happened after she tried to wash the bottles – that was the last thing she remembered, standing in front of the sink with one bottle under the running water. He enjoyed but also got confused seeing her face turning red with every new detail Sebastian offered her; it was not that Selina was a bashful woman who never took the initiative, but this time she really seemed unable to believe the so forward woman Sebastian described was actually her.
"No, no, no! We shouldn't do that… we shouldn't make love; no… it was a mistake!" She kept mumbling to herself and slipped out of bed as soon as she felt the demon's arms around her loosening.
She immediately started collecting her things in panic and seeing the bad state of her underwear, became more distressed. Sebastian was watching her with a dumbfounded look on his face, until suddenly burst out laughing nervously due to a wave of anger coming over him.
"A mistake? Us making love is a mistake all of a sudden, without reason?" He asked running a hand angrily through his hair.
"N-Not exactly… there is a reason." Selina whispered with a bundle of ripped clothes in her arms as she turned to open the room's door ready to leave.
A loud bang was heard as Sebastian was right behind her slamming the door closed with his palms preventing her escape. "Could you please share with me that sudden reason arising from nowhere? Is it perhaps that you repented for your actions, therefore I am not good for you and you prefer a soft human man, like Paul or maybe like Bard? Is this what have you decided?" He was growling with eyes identical to red flames, trying to pierce through the woman in front of him, as he grabbed her arm and turned her to look at him.
Selina with her usual fearless gaze looked him straight in the eyes. "You know very well that I would never regret of anything I have done, especially since these choices and actions brought me to you. And I would always choose you over any other man; I now know that for sure..." She lowered her gaze.
"Then what is the reason for this to be a mistake?"
"It's just that... just like you said, we had to keep a distance until the final decision. I was determined for that."
"I understand, but it is not that important-"
"It is to me! I didn't want your decision to be affected by our close proximity and our lovemaking... I wanted to protect me too, because-" She stopped as her eyes were filled with tears at the verge of falling on her cheeks.
"Because...?" Sebastian asked with a so low and seductive voice, leaning closer to the woman trying to hide her red crying face in the bundle she held. "Tell me."
"Because... every time I have to... separate from you... it's getting... harder, painful. I had to prepare myself for..." She fell silent again.
"For...?" Sebastian asked again bringing his body closer and allowing his fingers to brush on her arms making her tremble.
"Pl-Please... don't make it harder for me."
"Why do you care only for my decision, but you never talk about yours? You never share your thoughts. How are you to make up your mind if-"
"I have already decided, even before Miranda explained things to us! I already know that I-" She stopped herself before saying what she should not. She could feel Sebastian having lowered his head so that he could see her eyes, and now his opened wide for a moment.
"Say it!" He half asked half ordered, as his heart started beating faster.
Selina shook her head, mumbling he should decide first. She laid a palm on his chest without pushing him. "Please, I don't want to hurt you again, even for a second, I hate it. Let me go and please make a decision. Then we can talk." She said through tears she could not control anymore and sniffing as silently as possible.
Sebastian remained silent staring at her, trying to catch even a glimpse of her eyes. Selina's face was almost entirely hidden in the bundle of clothes and tried hard to keep her gaze away from his and from wandering on his naked body. At some point she lifted her eyes just for a second and that was enough for Sebastian. He had seen many humans' eyes begging him for mercy, and they were filled with terror and disgust, but hers were filled with a silent pain and a plea that for the first time seemed to… touch him somehow. Was that even possible for a demon?
"If you meant even a word of all you have told me all this time, please let me go, spare me the pain." Was what he felt her eyes told him in that fleeting second, and after staring at her for a little more, removed his hands from the door and took a few steps back.
Immediately, Selina turned her back, opened the door and ran in the hallway like she was being chased. Sebastian sighed deeply as he closed the door behind her. He ran a hand through his hair and sat at the edge of the bed.
"I cannot understand… if you have already decided… why are you afraid of telling me, Selina?" The heartless demon asked and brushed a hand over his chest at the place where his fake human heart was beating so loudly.

The rest of the day was pretty annoying for Sebastian. He had the intention of terrorizing Bard on not attempting again to touch Selina so casually, even in a brotherly or friendly manner, but the hangover the chef had, making him crawl from one chair to the other, ruined the demon's plans. He knew if he tried anything, he would not receive the result he wanted, he would not see him shaking from fear, so… it would not be fun.
Selina on the other hand was not helping the situation at all. She was in a far better state than Bard, completing her own tasks perfectly and even substituting for the chef; but was so cold and typical towards the butler, always slipping away from him every time he even leaned closer to take the salt or something else he might needed while cooking lunch; she was obviously extremely aware of him and could not hide it. Mey-Rin and the others were seeing it and Finny, with the usual puppy eyes he made when sad or troubled, had also realised something was really off between the couple and things had gotten worse than the previous days. He joined the maid and pale footman in whispering about the couple.
Both Sebastian and Selina were ignoring them and the woman, at some point, gently asked them to take their mumbling and murmuring somewhere else, because she had a terrible headache. Thankfully, they were smart enough to get the message and stopped or moved their gossiping out of the house, Sebastian could not care less. However, the worst part of the day again involved that irritating blonde chef and his proximity to the demon's mate. It was right after dinner when Sebastian was returning the plates to the kitchen when he heard chef and tutor talking. Curiosity won over and by lowering his aura to the minimum and stepping lightly as a feather, he approached the door and peeked inside.
Bard's gaze was focused on Selina's throat and more specifically on some round dark spots that already looked like fading away bruises. "Hmm… I don't know if my elixir helped ya get some good night's sleep, but I'm sure it did something… Those tail coated mosquitoes we have around the manor, seem to have returned to bite ya. Yer blood must be very yummy for them to bite only ya." The chef chuckled quite sober now and looked at her full of innuendos.
Selina's eyes opened wide, while wiping dry some of the plates she had already washed; suddenly the dishcloth flew in the air and landed on Bard's face. "You have no right to make fun of me; these happened because of that poison you fed me last night!" Selina told him in a low but dangerous voice.
"Pardon? It ain't my fault if ya can't hold yer liquor, girl!" The chef protested.
"What? I can hold my liquor pretty well, thank you! I have been drinking since I was our master's age, and not just wine with a little water inside to make it lighter like he does, but I downed beer and vodka… to my sister's terror, and I never got drunk or woke up with hangover, not remembering what happened the previous night!"
"Hoh! Ya mean that… ya don't remember how did ya get these? So… Sebastian took advantage of yer state and had his way with ya?" He seemed quite surprised, but at the same time enjoying how red Selina was turning. "Didn't expect him to be like that!"
"Well actually… It was not he who had his way with me…" Selina whispered focusing on wiping a knife more than necessary, ending up cutting the cloth she held on the knife's blade.
Bard chuckled again extremely amused and could not stop. "Ya had yer way with him? And he accepted and enjoyed it? Ha ha ha ha, that's priceless." He kept laughing for a while, oblivious to Selina's boiling anger. "Oh goodness! He must really like ya… even love ya, if he doesn't get scared of yer boldness, I know I would. Ya're really perfect for each other!" He managed to say when stopped laughing; he wiped his eyes from tears and looked at Selina, somehow like a brother proud that his sister found her perfect mate in life.
He started saying some weird things about a wedding, and Selina turned white from red and looked at him murderously. "Will you shut up or do you have such a strong desire to die? Stop saying stupid things and mind your business for once!" She waved the knife to him.
Bard was ready to respond, but then Sebastian entered the room, so suddenly that made Selina jump surprised, and get back to being redder than the reddest flower in their master's garden – poppies that is, since he preferred sterling silver roses more than the expected red ones.
"These are the last plates for tonight. Miss Clark, once you finish here, please, go and clean the books of the two remaining bookcases in the library. Young master needed me before I finished there, and then I did not get the chance to return." He ordered her with his cool, casual voice, ignoring how hot her face was and her hands trembling under the dishcloth.
"But… Mr. Michaelis, it will take quite a while and it is rather late. I can do it tomorrow, first thing in the morning." She tried to sound stable and casual.
"I know, but young master will go out tomorrow morning, along with ladies Sieglinde and Elizabeth, to shop for the house Lady Sullivan and Wolfram moved in, he asked that both of us will escort them and… you know he trusts no other than you and me with handling his books. That is why, please, do as I ask you with no further complains." He smiled in his usual fake way.
Selina sighed and nodded not wanting to mess with the demon, today of all days. Sebastian left the room and Selina ran to Bard, attempting to staff the ripped cloth in his mouth, since his eyes were shining mischievously and was ready to tease the embarrassed woman even more.
Hmm... Sebastian must have a plan for sending Selina to the library, right? What do you guys think will happen in the library? 😏
People, I can't say I have much energy left for today so... Till next time! Bye!
