This author's note is to let you know that out of everything I thought of, a potential romantic relationship for Jin's older sibling wasn't one of them. I realized I kind of wanted that to break the trend of everyone whose older not really being in a relationship. I mean, there was Asuma and Kurenai, but those two weren't up for admitting it in part I Naruto. Then, that got me thinking of potential matches.

None of the guys were appealing options. The older sibling couldn't really have a chance with Kakashi since he's in Anbu at this point, Asuma is all Kurenai's, and Itachi has a thing for Izumi. That left either Might Guy or Shisui. I didn't want Jin getting in the way of anything between Guy and Lee. Even if Guy has a lot of love to give, I think all of him is better reserved for Lee alone.

When it came to Shisui, I couldn't see a believable way to prevent him from dying since Danzo struck when he was alone. While I'm clearly not opposed to changing things, I did have Jiraiya return to take Naruto, I saw no believable way to spare arguably the only real option in Shisui. All of this is to say that the priorly female sibling is now a male sibling. That is the retcon to last chapter.

Konoha Streets: Late Morning…

The shifts Teuchi could give weren't numerous or plentiful, but they certainly paid. With the Hokage currently funding rent, what money Shuro got from Teuchi was enough to afford food with a little extra left over that he could spend at his leisure.

"Still, I don't think the Hokage could support us forever, and Jin's needs will only grow as he matures." Shuro thought as he walked the streets with his brother in the basket. "If only I could find someone to watch Jin from time to time. Even if I hadn't kept up my training, which I have, I could still be doing D ranks."

Even though Shuro would say he's become friendly with the people of Konoha, he wouldn't say he has any friends. Between taking care of Jin, working, and training, he hasn't had much time.

"This can't be happening!" A female voice called out breaking Shuro from his musings. "Come on!"

Shuro still had a little time before he needed to be at Ichiraku's, so he approached what appeared to be a dango shop.

"I've got to have something!" The female voice complained.

Shuro investigated the store to see an average-sized, girl with a slender frame frantically checking the pockets of her tan overcoat. She had light brown, pupil-less eyes and violet, spiky hair in a fanned-out ponytail.

She wore a custom outfit crafted of thin metal mesh with a purple in-seam and a pocket on each side, a dark orange mini-skirt, a dark blue belt, and pale grey shin guards. She wore the Konoha forehead protector and a small pendant that looked like a snake fang.

She looked at the shop keeper who was withholding a thing of dango from her. "Can't you just give it to me?" The guy did not look amused by this request. "I promise I'll come pay you back later today."

The guy clearly wasn't budging which made the girl despair at the thought of not getting her treat. Upon further investigation, Shuro noted that one of her overcoat pockets had a hole in it. This likely meant her money was somewhere on the streets or in someone else's pocket.

"I was planning on buying myself something later, but I suppose I can wait until I get paid next." Shuro approached the counter. "Excuse me." That grabbed both their attention before he pulled out the requisite ryo and put it down. "I'll pay for the lady's dango."

The woman looked at him a bit surprised while the shop keeper stared at the money critically. He eventually shrugged and took the ryo before passing the dango to the woman. She was left a bit stunned. Shuro then said nothing more as he walked away content with his decision.

When he made it out the door, it snapped the girl out of her stupor, and she proceeded to follow him with the dango. "Wait!" Shuro did stop at that. "Why did you do that?"

"I had some money on hand for myself, but you seemed to need the treat more than I did." Shuro shrugged. "It's not that big a deal. That money was for something extra anyways."

"Not many people are willing to do this for…a snake." The woman stated hesitantly.

"Ah, I've overheard people talking about you." Shuro nodded. "You must be Anko Mitarashi." He shrugged. "My brother and I might not be outcasts in the same way you seem to be around here, but I at least understand a little. Even knowing that, it's no big deal to me."

"Uhm, okay." Anko finally stated. "I'm sorry, but I don't exactly recall you like you seem to me."

"That's fine." Shuro shrugged. "The little guy in the basket is my brother Jin while I'm Shuro Kettou." He nodded in the direction he had been walking. "Now, I'm sorry about having to cut this short, but I'm about to run late for my job."

As he walked away, Anko smiled and happily ate from the dango she'd been given. All things considered; she'd be trying to get to know him.

Kettou Residence: Evening…

1 year since arriving in Konoha(Jin: Age 1)

If today was any indication, things were starting to look up. Thanks to Anko, Shuro finally had someone reliable to look after Jin, aside from Teuchi, so he formerly requested to enter the Shinobi Forces. He also requested to only be put on D rank missions until Jin was a little older.

Even though he had been tested and assigned the rank of Chunin, the Hokage had agreed. Today was his first day as an official Shinobi, and the money was great. He'd still be working for Teuchi, but now he could certainly fit in D rank missions whenever Anko was free to watch Jin.

"Hopefully their first day went well." Shuro thought as he entered the apartment. "Hey Anko, I'm back. How did things go with you and Jin?"

"They went fine." Anko was attempting to breeze past him. "Now, I'm out."

"Whoa, wait up there." Shuro gently grabbed her by the shoulders. "Things clearly weren't fine, so how about you tell me what happened?"

"I thought Jin liked me, but all day he's made it clear I need to leave." Anko responded clearly upset.

"Why would you think that?" Shuro asked.

"It's all he's been saying since you left me with him." Anko retorted.

Anko's Flashback

Shuro had just left while Anko approached baby Jin who was sitting on the sofa. "Hey there little guy, you look pretty comfy there."

"Go." Jin stated as he looked up at her.

"Uh, I'm not sure I'm supposed to do that…" Anko stated uncertainly.

Eventually, Anko shrugged it off and got Jin into his high chair to feed him some of the mashed fruit Shuro had shown her.

She had some on a little spoon. "Alright, here comes something yummy."

Jin happily banged on the small table before him. "Go!"

"Uh…okay." Anko was just confused. "Guess you can feed yourself."

Strangely, the baby didn't really eat anything after that, and Anko ended up having to bathe him before sticking Jin in his room. He then told her to go again, so she left the room. Though it was completely uncertain as she thought you weren't supposed to leave babies alone.

"Hey Jin, are you sure you don't need me?" Anko asked.

"GO!" Jin yelled.

"Okay, okay." Anko had thought the baby liked her, but she was clearly wrong. "I'm going."

Present

"No matter what I did, all Jin would tell me to do was go away." Anko declared sadly. "Now that you are home, he can have what he wants."

"Anko." Shuro was doing his best not to laugh right now. "That's how Jin's been saying your name."

"What?" Anko asked.

"Yeah, Jin's not capable of saying 'Anko' yet, so he's been calling you…" Shuro began.

Jin crawled into the room and right up to Anko. "…Go?"

Anko picked him up.

"You weren't wrong." Shuro smiled. "Jin does love you, and it seems like he wants you to stick around for a bit longer." He smiled mischievously. "Though I understand if you can't."

Anko was now smiling. "Well, I guess I could give this little guy a bed time story."

Kettou Residence: Night…

2 years since arriving in Konoha(Jin: Age 2)

Jin was now a young boy with short purple hair to match his eyes, and he was currently wearing lavender night pants with a matching shirt. The boy climbed into bed and pulled the covers over himself before looking at Shuro, expectantly, as he entered.

"I'm in bed, so can you tell me the story again?" Jin pleaded.

"Alight, but then you got to get to bed." Shuro retorted with a chuckle. "One day, a Shinobi who only saw himself as nothing more than a tool ran into a woman, a healer, on one of his missions bringing out emotions he hadn't felt in years.

It was to the point that someone as well trained as he ended up slamming into a door as it opened. Turned out this was a fortunate event since him falling on his butt brought the citizen over. She was concerned about him to the point she insisted the Shinobi let her check him over.

Despite attempting to stop her, she had a fire that would not be extinguished by even a Shinobi. He eventually gave in and was taken to the local doctor's office where she worked as a nurse. She went to work examining his head before determining he'd be fine.

It was such a simple meeting, but the Shinobi was now determined it wouldn't be their last. He didn't think that moment was the right time to talk with her, he felt rather foolish all things considered, but he made an endeavor to stop by whenever possible to talk.

The woman was surprised the first few times he came around, but the two eventually opened a lot about their lives. Of course, there were things he couldn't share with her, but she was an understanding soul. Over time, the pair fell in love.

Despite finding out he wanted to be with her from the beginning, retroactively, the Shinobi couldn't understand why she'd want to be with someone like him. She simply told him that he was a good man. From the day she said that he never again thought himself a mere weapon.

In fact, he would always remember what she told him in response to that question even after she passed. It led to him being the best father possible for his two children to the point he'd even make the ultimate sacrifice just to let them survive."

Jin yawned. "When I'm older, I hope I can be someone like him."

"I have faith you will be." Shuro smiled as he approached and kissed his forehead. "Of course, you won't ever get there if you don't get sleep."

"Right." Jin closed his eyes. "Night, dad."

Shuro smiled as he headed for the door. "Night, Jin."

He then walked out into the hallway and gently closed the door. Shuro saw no reason to correct him, at this time, since keeping the people within the stories he told unknown was the point. His brother did want to be a Shinobi, but there was still 4 years before he entered the academy.

Four years before he'd have to confront the subject of death that came with that career path. Even if he did start training him in two years, Shuro could at least let his brother be a kid a little longer. Once he entered the academy or brought it up himself, they'd talk.

Shuro then walked into the living room where Teuchi sat on the couch with his daughter, Ayame, beside him already sleeping. She was five years older than Jin and simply adored him like he was her brother.

"Got the kid to bed?" Teuchi asked.

"Yeah, he shouldn't be any trouble." Shuro rubbed the back of his head. "Teuchi, I really appreciate this. Anko recently introduced me to Kurenai, but I just didn't feel comfortable leaving her with him tonight."

"Think nothing of it." Teuchi smiled at him. "Now you should head out before you're late and stop to get the girl something she loves."

"Right, thanks again." Shuro stated before stepping out.

BBQ

Anko was starting to become impatient as the time they'd agreed upon drew closer. Despite knowing Shuro probably got held up with Jin, she couldn't help but worry that he'd potentially changed his mind. That would sting since she was looking forward to this.

"Anko!" Shuro's voice rang out.

Anko turned and saw the Kettou member running towards her with something in his hand. He managed to stop right before her with a bashful smile on his face.

"Sorry I was almost late, but Jin wanted to hear the story again." Shuro explained before holding out a small package. "Anyways, I stopped by the dango place and picked you up some of their top tier stuff."

"You always know just how to treat me." Anko gladly took the package as all her prior worries vanished. "Time to dig in."

Most people would see their date eating dango before BBQ and feel rather negatively towards it; however, Shuro knew Anko. If you give her dango, don't ever tell her how/when to enjoy it. Most couldn't ask her to share, but Shuro and Jin were exceptions by this point.

"Man, this is so good." Anko declared before taking out a skewer and passing it to Shuro. "Here, you got to try this."

Shuro smiled and gladly accepted. At this point, it was clear to Shuro that dating Anko wasn't going to be much of a difference to what they were prior. In the end, he was perfectly content with that since what they've had, from that first day they met, was great.

Kettou Residence: Day…

3 years since arriving in Konoha(Jin: Age 3)

Shuro had returned home with Anko and Jin. After a full day together, both Shinobi wanted to talk over something with the boy. Even if he's 3 years old, aside from kids maturing fast in a Shinobi environment, they still wanted to run this by him.

"Hey Jin, have seat on the couch." Shuro stated. "Anko and I have something we want to talk to you about."

Jin did as he was told. "What is it?"

"We were wondering how you'd feel about me moving in?" Anko asked.

Jin was rather happy as he looked at who he saw as his father. "Would that make Anko my mommy?"

"You could see it that way, but it wouldn't exactly be official." Shuro noted.

"If everything keeps going well, it will be." Anko added.

That was good enough for Jin who got up and hugged them making the two Shinobi share a smile.

Training Ground: Early Morning…

4 years since arriving in Konoha(Jin: Age 4)

It was time to begin Jin's first lessons, outside of books, on things a Shinobi needed. Shuro had chosen a good training ground with plenty of trees.

"Alright Jin, one of the first things I'm going to teach you are hand seals." Shuro explained. "They aid a Shinobi in molding Chakra for primarily Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. The more skilled you become at them, the less you can use down the line for more strenuous Jutsu."

"So, they're a really important fundamental?" Jin asked.

"Exactly." Shuro positioned his hands. "Now, I'm going to show you slowly first, a few times over, before having you mimic me, so pay close attention."

Jin nodded before staring firmly at his hands. Shuro then began weaving the hand seal slowly producing monkey, dragon, rat, bird, snake, ox, dog, horse, tiger, boar, ram, and hare.

"Were you able to keep up?" Shuro asked.

"Yeah, I saw what you were doing." Jin responded.

"Good, now watch one more time." Shuro ran through the series of hand seals before looking at him. "Think you're ready to follow along?" Jin nodded. "Okay, then let's start with you mimicking what I weave. Once you have that down, we'll begin picking up the pace."

Training Ground: Later…

For the next 2 hours, Shuro worked with his brother on getting the 12 hand seals down. This mostly consisted of him making a sign, having his brother follow, and correcting his form. Then, they'd repeat the process until he was confident the kid could make them.

From there, with the remaining two hours they had for training, Shuro would have Jin pick up the pace. Any mistake resulted in him immediately stopping on that hand seal and having him run through it at the prior, slower paces before picking up to the rate they stopped at.

Then, he'd have Jin run though the hand seals, at the quicker rate they were at, multiple times over for every time he messed up. This was done to work out any potential signs of bad habits early rather than having to correct for form later.

"You're picking it up quickly; however, this is something you'll need to keep working at until it's second nature and can be done quickly." Shuro informed. "In real world scenarios, your eyes must be on your opponent, so I'll be providing you with a scroll of the hand seals to study.

This way you can keep in mind how they should be done to hopefully speed up your performance on the days we come out here. It should also allow me to begin instructing you on the various combinations to some of the lower Jutsu I know."

Performing them was a whole other lesson, but it couldn't hurt for Jin to at least have down the intended combinations.

"I understand." Jin nodded before looking at him. "Is this all we're doing today?"

"Nope, there's still an hour left before we head to Ichiraku's, and that is more than enough time to get you started on the second topic." Shuro informed. "Chakra control."

"Chakra control?" Jin asked.

"That's right." Shuro nodded. "Before I explain that, what is Chakra?"

Jin remembered this from his book.

"Chakra is the elemental life energy a Shinobi uses in any Jutsu." Jin recited. "It's the source of our power and comes in two forms. Physical energy form every cell in the body working together and spiritual energy witch is primal power intensified through training and experience."

"Correct." Shuro nodded. "Thanks to hand seals, we can focus and unleash our Chakra. Of course, that prior point is rather useless without control. Simply attempting to fling Jutsu without it waste Chakra, and even if you do get a Jutsu out, it's likely to fail."

"Alright, how do I go about learning to control my Chakra without, I assume, just using Jutsu?" Jin asked.

"There are three exercises that teach Chakra Control and scale when used one after the other." Shuro picked up a leaf and put it on his brother's forehead. "This is the first and easiest method to train control."

"A leaf on the forehead?" Jin asked confused.

"Exactly." Shuro nodded. "This is a generational custom in Konoha and of the Kettou Clan. It not only helps with control but also sharpens the mind. Concentrate your Chakra on the leaf. The objective is to keep it on your forehead and make it spin. Too little Chakra, and the leaf will remain motionless. Too much Chakra, and the leaf will be forced off."

"Alright, let me try." Jin stated.

Jin cast his gaze up and focused on the leaf. Slowly, it started to rotate in place only to suddenly blow off before it could even turn 90 degrees.

"Man, that's harder than I thought it'd be." Jin commented.

"You are just starting, so let me give you a little more advice that should serve you well." Shuro picked up another leaf and put it to his forehead before it started spinning. "The key to training is perseverance. You can't very well aim to be a Shinobi if you quit after any failure."

"I understand." Jin picked up a leaf. "I'll always work hard and keep going no matter what."

He put the leaf on his forehead and began concentrating once more. This made Shuro smile since he had that will to persevere just like their father. No matter how many times the leaf was blown off his head or didn't spin like it should, Jin kept at it.

Ichiraku Ramen

Upon entering the Shinobi Forces, Shuro figured he'd start taking missions out of the village once Jin was in the academy. The meant he was able to keep up working with Teuchi at the stand. Over the years, he picked up ways to improve all aspects of cooking.

While they do work with ramen, a lot of the tips on preparing the separate items that could go into a bowl have come in even that, he'd learned quickly how to cook a great deal of food effectively. At Jin's end, he'd found a nice big sister figure in Ayame.

Even though she didn't want to be a Shinobi, the older girl still had things she could teach the boy. Jin was like a sponge as he took it all in. Ayame simply seemed to love teaching him. Currently, she was showing Jin how to play marbles.

"The goal is to collect the most marbles, but you can only claim a marble you knock out of this ring with the larger marbles." She set up the circle. "As you can see, I'm making a cross shape with the smaller marbles." She then grabbed her marble and lined it up outside the circle.

"You got to take your short outside of the circle, but you can flick it anywhere you want." She flicked the marble hitting the center marble which caused a reaction knocking two outer marbles out the ring. "Those two marbles would now be mine."

"Does that mean it's my turn now?" Jin asked.

"Not typically as I'd keep going until my big marble ends up out the ring or I don't succeed in knocking those other, smaller marbles out." Ayame informed. "Since this is your first game, I'll simply pass my turn to you."

"Alright, I'm about to knock out a whole bunch of them." Jin declared excitedly.

Shuro smiled contently from behind the counter as he caught sight of Jin simply playing. There wouldn't be much more of this in a relatively short amount of time, but he could at least enjoy what remained.

"Jin's really been thriving here." Teuchi commented with a smile. "He's got a good heart and an adventurous soul."

"He's a perfect combination of our mother and father." Shuro nodded. "In my books, that's a winning combination that will take him far."

It was a rough start for the kid, but things worked out as well as could be expected given the circumstance. Shuro was determined to keep working towards better to ensure his brother matured into a truly splendid Shinobi and a good man.

The only real thing I need to address here is ages and timing. Anko in part I is stated to be 24 on the Narutopedia, and Naruto is 12-13 in part I according the Narutopedia. 24 - 12 means Anko is 12 at the start of this chapter and fresh off leaving Orochimaru after he abandoned the village. I think the timing works out since it wasn't that long after Minato died that Orochimaru left.

Shuro is 13 at the start of this chapter which makes Anko 16 by the end of this chapter and Shuro 17 by the end of this chapter. If you think these characters are moving too fast, Shinobi are expected to kill, both are Chunin at around the start of this chapter(I don't think Anko would be a Tokubetsu Jonin upon returning to the village), and neither really have any parental/guardians telling them not to do this.

volcasiron30: Thank you

thor94: Rasengan, Shadow Clones, and Kurama will still be part of Naruto's arsenal, but he'll have more to play with. As for Monster Summons, those are a Kettou Clan Bloodline that can't be taught.
