Avenging Flash
Chapter Five: Rise of Supergirl.
"Sir the portal is open, and the chitauri are coming through!"
"Right...army." Tony muttered, his HUD switching from its regular defence mode to tactical readouts in a literal second.
With a sudden blast of thrust, Tony rocketed upwards to the large swirling vortex in the sky, firing everything he had at his disposal into the large wave of invaders.
Dozens upon dozens of chitauri died, but hundreds more came through unharmed. Tony felt like he was a little outgunned until a red, yellow and blue blur appeared above him, unleashing two beams of bright blue light to cut through chitauri sleds, giant leviathans and even chitauri troop transports.
Stark blinked behind his golden visor, eyes widening as the blur faded into a floating figure that he could now fully see.
Above him stood a blonde haired young girl, her eyes still glowing a bright blue despite the fact she was currently not firing any beams from them. She wore a dark blue body suit with golden accents on her wrists, across her waist and inside the reverse triangle shaped symbol that was displayed proudly on her chest.
Said symbol was a bright red S that flowed beautifully from top to bottom. On her feet were two knee high red boots with golden soles and across her shoulders and down her back flowed a thin red Cape.
Overall she was impressive.
"Who are you?" Tony asked, his suit still firing multiple rounds of ammunition into the incoming waves of alien enemies.
"My name is Kara, Kara Zor-el. But the folks at SHIELD call me Supergirl. Fury gave the order to call me in" Kara replied, a small smile on her face as she punched through a Chitauri sled that had gotten to close to her.
It exploded into shreds of metal and debris, crumbling to nothing after her fist went through it. And really, what else could Tony say to that?
"Welcome to the team kid. Thanks for the help, I'll focus on the ones up top near the portal and you destroy any stragglers that happen to make it through?" Iron Man suggested.
"Sure thing Mister Stark, although what about the ones that have already come through?" Kara asked, using her heat vision to melt a chitauri sled in half, allowing the ammo to fall onto a flying leviathan that was beneath it and blow up in its face.
"Something tells me they're about to have a very bad day..." Stark chuckled, pointing to a nearby Quinjet that just happened to fly past the tower.
The rest of the avengers had arrived...

Opening the doors at the back of the Quinjet Steve looked down at the city he called home and sighed sadly.
There were various areas already going up in smoke, and even from up high in the air he could hear the screams from panicked and horrified civilians. Captain America clenched his fists before turning to his companion, Barry Allen.
"You sure you're up to this kid?" he asked softly.
Barry shrugged before pulling his cowl down over his face, a look of determination on his face. "I won't lie and say yes, but what choice do we have? If we fail here then there won't even be a tomorrow for us to regret. I'm not going to hold back anymore, see you in a flash captain."
And in a bolt of golden lightning, Barry jumped out the Quinjet and landed on the side of the empire state building. With tremendous skill, the teenage hero ran across the windows and jumped to the next building across, tackling some chitauri before carrying on with his running, making sure to go up and down each building he landed on so as to take out the enemy aliens.
Before they entered new York airspace, Steve had taken him aside and talked to him about his moral code. While killing none of his villains was a good thing, Cap told him the harsh truth about reality.
No matter how strong, skilled, fast or smart a person was. They couldn't save everyone. In the real world, if one villains life is in the way of saving hundreds of civilians... then you take the life. Especially if there is no other way.
This doesn't mean killing is the only answer. But it means that Barry shouldn't feel too guilty about taking the life of someone or something else if it means protecting others and saving the day. The people, the innocent of this world, they were all that mattered.
And so despite how sick he knew he was going to feel after, Barry vibrated his hand through each and every Chitauri he saw. Shredding their internal organs and killing them.
Barry would most likely have nightmares about this day, but so long as his loved ones and the civilians lived, he would face those dreams head on.

The god of mischief looked over the city that he had decided would be the first victim in his plan to conquer earth. Already he could feel the joy of bloodshed filling his very being as the sounds of screams and explosions filled the air.
He revelled in this. Imagining himself sat on a throne made of gold and emerald while his servants and guards bowed before him, loyal to him through fear and respect.
His moment was interrupted by the arrival of his dear brother, Thor.
"Loki, turn off the tesseract or I'll destroy it!" The blonde brute warned him, twisting Mjolnir around in his hand.
Loki turned to him with a smirk. "You can't, there is no stopping it. There is only, the war!" he replied, holding up his sceptre to point at Thor.
The god of thunder narrowed his eyes. "So be it."
Loki lunged at Thor, thrusting his blade down to cut the man in half, but Thor merely turned to the side. He then brought his hammer round to strike Loki in the face, but his brother clashed their weapons together in return.
Afterwards, Loki charged up his sceptre and fired a concentrated blast of energy, only for thor to absorb it with Mjolnir. Loki fired again, however thor nudged the sceptre downwards halfway through so as to cause the blast to explode onto the floor. Which it did. Unfortunately the energy bolt tore through the terrace and destroyed the 'Stark' sign that was hung on the side of the building.

"Stark we're on your three heading northeast." Natasha informed Tony as she piloted the Quinjet back towards the tower.
"What, did you stop for drive through on the way? Swing up Park, I'm going to lay them out for you." He replied, busy trying not to get shot down by the group of Chitauri sleds that were in hot pursuit of him.
Kara was still up top, taking out any and all alien forces she could after Tony had been knocked down. He planned on re-joining her after he shook off the tail he currently had on him, but with his teammates currently arriving he could perhaps get them to destroy the sleds for him.
Curving around a building, Tony dropped into a front forwards roll as the Quinjet swept up, rotary gun letting out round after round into the chitauri sleds that had chased him.
"Sir we have more incoming." Jarvis warned Stark after the Quinjet helped him.
"Fine, let's keep them occupied." Tony replied, taking a hard left so as to dodge a leviathan that just broke through a building.
The more that focused on him and the Quinjet, the less Supergirl had to take care of.

Barry dodged a bolt of purple energy as he nibbled on one of his calorie bars, trying to keep himself focused and alive as more and more enemies dropped down from the buildings to focus on him on the ground.
After having killed a few hundred chitauri, the flash had stopped off in a side street to have a couple of bars so as to fuel up the black hole of a stomach he had. Because of his metabolism, he had to eat thousands of calories a day in order to use his powers and live, and with the last two days being how they were... he hadn't had enough time to stop and eat or drink.
And with him not wanting to black out during this important battle, he decided to be safe and take a quick brake so as to not be of risk of becoming a burden to his team and threaten the earth's safety.
Much to his displeasure though, the chitauri noticed that he had slowed himself down and decided to tag team him by ambushing him as he ate. Long story short, he was stuck between chewing mouthfuls of food and dodging every attack the aliens threw at him.
'This is just going to get worse' Barry thought with annoyance, plunging his hand through another Chitauri's heart.

Noticing that thor was struggling in his fight against Loki, Natasha pulled the Quinjet around to face the balcony the two currently were on.
"Clint." She called out, turning to her copilot.
"On it." Hawkeye replied, using the gun controls to charge up the rotary cannon before opening fire.
Loki side stepped each round before firing a bolt directly at the Quinjet's left wing.
The bolt hit true, smashing through the armour and destroying the hover rotor that helped keep the Quinjet upright. Venting smoke, Natasha had no choice but to pull the Quinjet from its high altitude and towards the ground. Aiming to control crash into an empty street. (Thankfully most of the ground area was empty of people now due to civilians taking cover in doors)
As the Quinjet fell from the air, Thor tackled Loki before punching him in the face repeatedly, knocking him back through the glass window and into the tower.

The Quinjet hit the ground hard, skidding to a stop in front of Grand Central Station. Thankfully Natasha, Clint and Steve were all okay and managed to claw their way out of the vehicle while grabbing the items they needed for battle.
Soon enough, they began covering civilians while taking out Chitauri sleds and alien soldiers.
However after a few minutes they looked towards the sky as a large shadow took up the area. A large leviathan, about three times bigger than the other ones came through the portal, roaring down at the planet below.
"Uhh Stark are you seeing this?" Steve asked, eyes wide as he saw the huge beast slither through the air on its anti gravity jets.
"Seeing, still working on believing." Tony replied as he flew adjacent to it. Using Jarvis to scan it for any weakness it could have.
"Where's Doctor banner guys, while the new girl is good, we could use some help with the ground forces." Barry stated, having finished eating what he needed to get back up to full strength.
"Banner?" Steve hummed, confused as to why Barry would ask them where the man was as they hadn't seen him on the way to New York, so why would they know where he was?
"Just keep us posted Cap." Barry sighed.

Thor grabbed Loki by the horn of his helmet and forced him to look back at the smoking city. "Look at this, look around you, do you think this madness will end with your rule!" He exclaimed.
Loki pursed his lips "Its too late, its too late to stop it." The man replied.
Thor shook his head, turning Loki to look at him. "No, we can stop it. Together." He told him.
Loki faltered, his eyes showing hope for just a moment before glazing over. He thrust his hand forward and stabbed Thor with a hidden dagger, a look of sick glee on his face as his brother dropped Mjolnir and fell backwards in shock. "Sentimental..." Loki whispered in a voice that was both his but also not.
Thor broke the dagger from out of his stomach and rushed forwards, yelling in anger and pain as he tackled his brother once again. This time however, he managed to toss the man over his shoulders and slam him into the ground.
Loki shook the glass off of his body before rolling out of the window and landing on top of a flying Chitauri sled, there he began to nurse his injuries while gesturing for the Chitauri pilot to get him somewhere safe for the moment.
Thor watched on, feeling sad at how lost his brother had become. But it was then replaces with determination to stop him from causing more chaos and destruction.
