Club 23 - Chapter XVI - The Consideration
Megara, still in shock at the presence of Hercules, is still frozen. The thing is, she and Hercules had a thing going on…mostly one-sided on Megara's part. She used to like him around the time of Freshman year, mainly because of his muscles. They used to talk from here and there, and it never went anywhere, so Megara just stopped talking to him. Until this very moment in this very bookstore, when he notices her just frozen. He walks up to her and opens up.
"Umm…Megara, is that you?", he asks while Megara unfreezes at the sound of his voice, not realizing that he used her full first name
"Wha…who…who's there?", she says unfreezing
"It's me…Hercules, don't you remember"
"Oh yeah…I remember you, how's life", she says trying to put up her usual sarcastic tone, but barely does it
"Umm…life's been pretty good", he says, weirded out a little bit, "How's life like for you?", he asks back
"Oh…life's been nice"
"That's cool"
"Man, I haven't seen you like since freshman year…isn't that crazy", she laughs a little
He laughs back, "Yeah, it's a bit, huh"
"It seems you gained a bit of muscle last time we met", Megara mentions as she looks at his muscles, and starts to blush a little
"Umm…Meg", he says calling her by her nickname to get her attention
"Huh", she finally snaps out of it, "Oh sorry about that, I was just looking down at the floor for some reason" She continues trying to play it cool but fails a little
"It's fine," Hercules said, "Hey are you going to the Spring Formal"
"Umm…yea, I still need to get a dress though, by the way, how the heck did you get on the committee"
"Oh, I just applied, and Tiana needed ideas and help, so I decided to join along"
"Okay cool, well, I'm about to rent another book, so I better not keep you busy", said Megara with a smile
"Alright then", Hercules responded back, "I'll see you later when I can" he continued with a smile
"Definitely, see ya", says Megara
"See ya", Hercules
As Hercules exits from Megara to look for another book, Pocahontas, who was secretly spying on the two the entire time, goes to Megara just for a little teasing
"Hmm…Hercules, huh", said Pocahontas coming near Megara's view, "If I could remember, what was the little nickname you told me that you had for him…Wonderboy, was it?", she continued with a snicker
"Alright Poca, that's enough", Megara said to her friend slightly irritated, "Plus, that nickname was so…so long ago"
"What, it's not my fault that you still have feelings for him"
"I don't have feelings for him Poca"
"Oh really, so you looking at his muscles, but trying to play it off by looking at the ground, doesn't equal you still being attracted to somebody
Megara was trying to think of a witty comeback, like she always does, but couldn't since Pocahontas was right
"(sigh), you're right Poca, I still sorta have a crush on him, but I don't know what to do, with that bod, I bet many girls have a crush on him"
"Well…have you considered taking him as your date to the Spring Formal?"
"No…not at all"
"I figure that would be a good place to start, go out as friends, take it slow, and see what happens from there"
Megara smiled at her friend, "You know what, that will be a good place to start, thanks for the advice Poca"
Pocahontas then gave Meagra a little hug, "Meg, there's no need to thank me, I'm always here when you need it"
As Pocahontas left the hug first and before Megara was about to rent her book, Megara paused and turned to Pocahontas and said this to her
"Poca"
"Yes"
"Since you told me to consider having, Hercules as my date, I don't want to be mean, but I know it's the truth, you think that you can consider John"
Immediately after Megara said that Pocahontas looked at the books, she wasn't angry or sad, but kinda in a rough spot with that comment, she didn't know what to say, but eventually, she turned around and had a blank expression on her face and this made Megara kinda scared, but surprisingly Pocahontas smiles and tells her
"Only time will tell…"
Meanwhile, the next day comes and it is inching closer to asking out people to the Spring Formal time and Flynn has rounded up the boys of the group to discuss how they are going to go about this. They all meet at the tables before the girls show up
"Gentlemen, the time is upon us where each of us will need a date to the Spring Formal", says Flynn as he tries to sound like a military general, "As we all know, Aladdin is planning to ask out Jasmine and Phoebus is asking out a mystery girl, which I still got my eye on you Phoebus"
"Good luck", said Phoebus you smirked at Flynn
"Anyway, we need to discuss the best course of action on how these proposals are going to work" Flynn points at Aladdin, "Ali what do you have for Jasmine?"
"Well, I was planning to not be too corny, but corny at the same time", Aladdin responded
"Go on"
"I was going to present her with flowers, guess what they are going to be"
"Jasmine", said Flynn smirking, "Clever, how about you Phoebs, what about your mystery lady?"
"Well, I was thinking and thinking and thinking, and I came up with, just being myself"
Flynn was kinda perplexed about Phoebus's statement, "Being yourself, what the hell do you mean, 'being yourself"
"Being as authentic as can be, no script, no lines, just me, oh with a little extra something off course"
"Interesting approach," said Flynn, "Why?"
Phoebus stands up from his seat "You see here Flynn, I want to let her know that I truly care about the person, not the object she is seen to by everybody here, I want to let her know that she has value, worth, and she deserves the world, and…and, I try my hardest to give that all to her because she deserves to be loved…really loved"
After that Phoebus took to his seat and took a breather. Flynn, Aladdin, and Quasimodo all looked at each other and agreed on the same thing
"Wow…that was a beautiful damn statement you made", said Flynn
"Well, I try", says Phoebus
"Anyway", Flynn tries to move on quickly as the girls should be coming any minute now, "Quasi, do you have someone in mind
"You know what Flynn, I think I do, you guys know Madellaine?", says Quasimodo and all three guys are trying to think
"Wait a minute, that name sounds familiar", says Phoebus, "Short hair, blonde, does dance with Esmeralda, yea I heard of her"
"Me too", chimes Aladdin, "She's perfect for you man"
"I sure hope so", responds Quasimodo
"Well, good luck on that man," says Phoebus, "Well, Flynn, do you have anybody you want to ask out?"
"Hey, who's the one leading the meet…anyway, yes, I think it is about time I reveal my plans for the Spring Formal, guys the person I am planning to ask out is", he takes in a deep breath, "Rapunzel"
"I kinda had an idea", said Phoebus
"Me too," said Aladdin
"Me three", said Quasimodo
"Really? It was that obvious", said Flynn
"Yeah", said Phoebus, "but hopefully it goes well, I really mean it" he continued with Aladdin and Quasimodo agreeing
"Thank you guys", says Flynn, "With us supporting us, we will have those dates, show them the best time ever, and rule over the Spring Formal!", he exclaims while Esmeralda, Pocahontas, and Megara show up
"Oh, I'm sorry, are we interrupting 'guy time'", said Esmeralda as she rolled her eyes and laughed as did Pocahontas and Megara. Esmeralda had taken her seat right in sight of Phoebus. Phoebus tried not to look at her, but her eyes…her green eyes were calling. Quasimodo noticed what his friend was doing next to him and whispered
"I hope this goes well for you"
Phoebus whispers back as he continues to glare at Esmeralda
"Yep, I hope this goes well for me too"
Around the afternoon time I am posting this, how is everybody?... Anyway, interesting things are happening for the group from Megara and Hercules to the guys having their discussion about their dates and Phoebus's short speech. What happens next?...
