Paul sat on his throne as he waited for Queen Johanna to be escorted to him. He fingered the armrest of the throne as he thought back to the day when he lost his sight which still weighed on his mind. He doesn't remember much but all he remembers was that it was raining and he had heard a scream and then a bright light flashed before his eyes which was the cause of his now blindness.
He quickly straightened his posture as he heard a knock.
"It is sir Drew with the queen of Twinleaf!" announced Drew.
"You may come in!" Paul replied.
He heard the door creak open as two sets of feet walked in.
"I command you to release me immediately!" exclaimed a voice.
"Ah, pleased to meet you also Queen Johanna," Paul stated hoping his face didn't show amusement," you know your the one who tried to attack my kingdom while it had lost its ruler."
"Every good ruler knows to attack when the kingdom is weakest!" Johanna exclaimed," And your kingdom is such a great land! I just had to try!"
Paul wish he knew what Queen Johanna looked like so he could imagine the anger in her face.
"So your saying…I should attack your kingdom! Because I currently have their ruler imprisoned in my kingdom," Paul grinned as he stood up.
"Don't you dare touch my kingdom!" Johanna yelped.
Paul smiled as he heard a struggle happening between her and Drew.
"But you said that a good ruler attacks another kingdom at its weakest," Paul smirked as he sat back down.
"I did say that but my kingdom will not fall! My daughter will keep it safe!" Queen Johanna stated with hope.
"I do not care for one ounce of your kingdom. Instead, I have sent a letter to your daughter asking for one single thing," Paul stated as he sat back down.
"She will never agree to marry you! You're a monster! And your blind! My daughter may be ugly with her scars and all but she is not going to marry a monster like you!"
Paul scowled at her comments but wanted to laugh at her insinuation that he wanted to marry her daughter.
" Remember what kingdom you're at!" He yelled in anger standing up," I also did not ask for marriage! I do not plan to marry! I had asked her to come here to trade your greatest treasure for you!"
"My greatest treasure?" Johanna questioned then started laughing," You are such a fool!"
Paul felt his anger boil but tried keeping his cool.
"You think I'm a fool?" He asked," Well your majesty. The only fool here is you. Sir Drew! Take our guest to the dungeon and maybe there she will realize who is a fool! Now take her away!"
"Yes, your majesty!" Drew responded as the sounds of their footsteps grew faint.
"That queen is a fool. First thinking I want to marry her daughter and second of calling me a fool," Paul mused," no I will crush her pride so that she wouldn't dare to come back to my kingdom!"
-Note
hoped you enjoyed this chapter! Sorry if it felt hurried but hopefully all the other chapters will NOT be as hurried anyways... Hoped you enjoyed and with all hope the next chapter will be up this weekend!
p.s I also realized it is a lot harder to write in a blind persons POV so if you have any advice how I can make Paul's blindness more realistic I am open for suggestions! :)
