Chapter 28: The Ninja Tribunal, Part 2
*Main theme*
Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio were still standing where they were while looking at Chen in great surprise.
"Chen?" Chase asked in surprise.
"No way." Sunray added in shock as well, just like the rest of their family.
Seeing this made Chen chuckle in amusement at his great grandchildren's shock as he approached them.
"I can't believe it. You're still alive." Chase said to Chen as he bowed in respect to his great grandfather, making him chuckle again.
"It is respectful to bow to an old master, but how about a hug for your great grandfather?" Chen asked while having his hooves out for his great grandchildren for a hug.
The Elite Ninja stared at him in shock as Antonio let out an excited yell as he, Jade, Sunray, and Trini hugged at the same time. Chase was still surprised by this.
"This is so amazing. I can't believe you've been around all this time, Grandpa Chen." Jade said with a smile.
"Well, when you add more than enough elixir magic to make you immortal, it looks good for you." Chen replied back with a smirk.
He then turns back to Chase, who still looked shocked by his appearance. Chen then softened as he saw his eldest great grandson looked down, trying to get his head straight of what was going on.
"Chase, I know whatever you may think, I can explain that-" Chen was about to finish when he was given the shock of his life as Chase zipped over and hugged him tightly with tears in his eyes.
"I can't believe you're here after all this time." Chase said with a smile with a few tears streaming down. "It's been so long since we've heard from you."
Chen smiled in reply as he hugged his eldest great grandson in return while the rest of the group watched the moment with smiles on their faces while Jade shed a few tears from her eyes as well.
(Scene changes)
A little while later, the group were inside a dojo room as the Elite Ninja sat in lotus positions while Chen stood before them.
"I still can't believe that you're still alive, Grandpa Chen." Chase said with a smile. "You've been here all this time?"
"Why haven't you come to live in Canterlot since Grandpa passed on?" Antonio asked as well.
Chen raised a hoof to silence them with a smile.
"When you five were only children, I was destined to come with your grandfather, my son, Darius Hisomi, to Canterlot for a quiet time to live with you. But when he was gone, I couldn't exactly come to his funeral. I knew that something was wrong and searched everywhere for him. I eventually gave up and came back to continue my lessons for the Ninja Tribunal." Chen explained to his great grandchildren. "I've only known you five when I visited Canterlot a few times to see each of your parents since you were babies. But I didn't expect to run into you all today."
"We feel the same way too, Chen." Jade said with a smile before she realized something. "But have you been here for far longer than any of the ponies and bunyips here?"
Chen turned to Jade as he sighed.
"Well, the truth is I was Kon, Juto, and Chikara's prized pupil for a long time and I still have it in me." Chen answered, shocking his great grandchildren in the process. "It began after the three alicorns had ventured out here from their defeat in Emperor Zhao's war long ago to find the animal spirits so they could help them form the army they needed to end the Quinkan threat. I came to them when I was on a fishing boat to travel around the world. But I was swept away from a huge rain storm and landed on the beach just outside of the walls of Japon."
"That must've been terrible to be out there all by yourself." Chase said to Chen with sympathy.
"Yes, it was." Chen said in agreement before he recomposed himself. "But it wasn't long until Kon, Chikara, and Juto found me on the beach and took me in. They required acolytes to help them combat the Quinkan of harming the good around Equestria. Over the years, I had been learning from the shadow craft of Jiu Jitsu as well as mastering the ways of the elemental powers. I was their prized pupil, officially earning my ranks as the top elemental master of Water, Fire, Wind, Earth, Lightning, and Metal." He demonstrated of using his own chi to conjure some water into a fountain, performing a fireball in his left hoof as well as some metal ingot before he used the flame on the material to melt it and made it go away, and made a gust of wind blow gently in the air as the Elite Ninja were amazed by what they saw. Chen then continued as his great grandchildren looked back at him. "When I was done being here, I went to Saddle Arabia for some quiet time. It was then that I found Darius there all by himself."
"And it was also when you adopted Grandpa and taught him the ways of jiu jitsu." Chase said in realization with a smile as Chen nodded in agreement. "Was it also because his destiny was to come here as an acolyte to the Ninja Tribunal?"
"Indeed." Chen said in agreement. "Darius was not only my adoptive son, but also my prized pupil. However, he insisted on becoming the leader of his previous Elite Ninja long ago before he had disappeared without a trace." But then he became sad. "Only to find out that his life was taken by the Storm King long ago."
Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio became stiff as they turned to each other in surprise.
"You… you found out about the news?" Chase asked Chen in shock.
"Yes, Chase. We found out that his last breath took place at his training camp in the mountains when he heard of Zhao's latest attack in the south part of Equestria." Chen replied back sadly. "It began when he came here to make sure that his team was ready and the Tribunal offered their last words to him."
Flashback
Darius stood in the throne room as Kon, Juto, and Chikara sat on their throne chairs.
"Darius Hisomi, leader of the Elite Ninja… we honor you for your exemplary services as well as becoming one of our best acolytes." Kon said to Darius as the unicorn stallion bowed his head in respect to the three alicorn masters.
"I swear that I will never fail to protect the good and noble Ninja Tribunal!" Darius promised, bowing his head. "Even if it costs me my life..."
"We will honor you with all the good you have done for Equestria. Now, it is time for you to finish Zhao for good before he remakes the world into his next home dimension of the Netherworld." Kon said firmly as Darius bowed his head in respect before he made his leave.
Flashback ended
"Ever since the day he went to take care of Emperor Zhao and his life was slain by the Storm King, we built a statue to remember him. Now the only thing he has left to bring hope to the world is you five." Chen said to his great grandchildren as they stared back at him in shock.
"And you all made his statue to remind the greatness he's done for all of the ponies around the world." Trini said as Chen nodded in reply.
"But I guess some of the monks here just have a hard time feeling that he is not here." Jade said while referring to Seem.
"I know Seem can sound heartless, but I'm assuming that you all have met her and seeing how she has been dealing with life as well as death." Chen said, knowing what was on their minds.
Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio nodded in reply.
"Chen." Kon's voice said as the group turned to see him, Juto, and Chikara entering the throne room. "We have trouble in the wasteland. The scope shows a group of Dinoquins moving through the desert not too far from here."
"Dinoquins?" Chase asked in confusion.
"What are they?" Jade asked curiously.
"They are powerful beasts that Zhao absorbed from an ancient creature similar to a Dinopony, only it came from the human realm Darius had studied. They are said to be a hybrid of Dinosaurs combined with Quinkan magic. They appear to be heading towards this location." Chikara said gravely.
This made the group of five heroes turn to each other with concern.
"If they reach this destination, our foes will wreak havoc and destroy this sacred site." Juto said firmly while looking at Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio. "You five must intercept them and make sure they won't make it to this location."
"Why does it sound like you three are leaving out the dangerous parts?" Antonio asked with a 'are you kidding me' look before he turned to Chase with an uneasy smile. "Chase, I'm getting some nasty juju vibes here. I don't have this unicorn horn for nothing ya know."
"Relax. We can handle a few Quinkan beasts." Chase said reassuringly with a smirk.
"Have you guys ever seen a Dinoquin in the Wasteland?" Mark asked with a curious look.
"No, why?" Sunray asked with a glare.
"There's no time to argue, guys." Jade said firmly. "We have to find out where those Quinkan creatures are."
"She is right. The Quinkan are said to be near the banks of the Snake Gully River." Kon explained firmly.
"They must be stopped whatever the costs." Chikara said to the Elite Ninja.
"So now we know where they are, then we're gonna have to get to them before they reach this spot." Chase said firmly to his family as they nodded in agreement.
"But even if we stand a chance against them, are our mystic weapons enough to drive them away?" Sunray asked curiously.
"The appearance of the fangs is a good omen, Sunray." Juto said, gaining the Elite Ninja's attention. "And you will need to use them well, including your dragons."
Chase and his family nodded in response and were about to go stop the approaching threat before Kon stopped them.
"And one more thing." Kon said gravely to the five heroes. "If you get caught in their tracks, they will tear the flesh from your very bones."
This made Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio feel disturbed by that.
"Oh, great. Thanks for the pep talk." Trini said sarcastically.
"Remember, do not let them rampage through this village. For if they do, they will be one step closer to ending Equestria for good." Kon instructed the five ponies.
"We won't fail you." Chase promised the three alicorn masters with a respectful bow before he and his team went off to stop the Quinkan beasts.
"I want to help." Bagheera said pleadingly as Kon turned to him.
"No, Bagheera. It's too dangerous. You and the other young ones must stay here." Kon said firmly to the plank panther cub as sighed sadly.
Kon looks back just in time to see the Elite Ninja leaving the room as Nandu Gili walks in and stands next to the leader of the Tribunal.
"If we believe they have what it takes to unlock their full potential to stop the Quinkan, are you certain that they can prevent them from destroying everything?" Nandu Gili asked Kon with concern.
Chen walked over to the two with a concerned look as well.
"I've already lost my son, I cannot lose my great grandchildren." Chen added with worry. "When I saw Chase's eyes, it was like I was seeing Darius again."
"When they do succeed, they will be that much closer to achieving their status as members in the Ninja Tribunal." Kon assured Nandu Gili and Chen. "For now, we pray that they will stop the Quinkan from attacking."
Bagheera had listened to everything they were talking about and he felt worried about the Elite Ninja, especially Chase.
(Scene changes)
In the desert, Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio were running to the Snake Gully River to find the Dinoquins as well as to prevent them from reaching the village.
They came upon a sandy hill and found the area and a large river that looked like the body of a snake, some patches of tall coconut trees, and grass. They went down the hill and carefully walked around the area while keeping an eye out for any sign of the mysterious Dinoquins.
"Huh, not much to this place." Jade said with a scoff.
"Jade." Chase said to his younger sister, gaining her attention. "It doesn't look like the Quinkan left the place, but if they did, we better keep on our guard."
"Right." Jade said in agreement.
As the five continued to walk around the banks of the river, Antonio noticed some claw marks on the bark of a coconut tree. He places a hoof on the mark with a rub before looking down to see a footprint on the ground. The difference is that it had three toes. He looked forward and noticed that it had a trail.
Chase, Jade, Sunray, and Trini joined him as they looked at the mysterious footprints. Jade bents down a bit as she places a hoof in the center of the one Antonio found.
"It looks like those monsters must've been here already." Jade said with a confirmed look. "And the tracks are fresh."
Chase looked around the place with a glare as he hummed suspiciously.
"Well, if they did, we might as well follow the trail they left behind and hopefully stop them before they can reach the village." Chase said to his family as they nodded in reply.
But just as they were about to follow the trail, some saliva splat on the ground in front of the five ponies, causing them to look at it. Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio just stared at the saliva for a bit as they knew it wasn't raining when they heard heavy growling above them.
They slowly lifted their heads up and noticed a big Quinkan monster that looked like it had the body of a dinosaur with three claws on its hands and feet, the underbelly was bright red, its body was black, two horns growing on its head in a straight line, massive sharp teeth in its mouth with a few scars across the right side of its face, and its eyes were burning red. It was none other than a Tyrannoquin.
Chase and his team gazed at the Dinoquin in great surprise and fear as their eyes were widened to the size of pinholes.
They grew silent until the Tyrannoquin used his head to knock two coconut trees aside as Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio dodged them as the monstrous mighty Dinoquin let out a massive roar.
Suddenly, more growling was heard as the five looked around and to their horror, they saw three more Tyrannoquins approaching from behind some tall rocks as the second one snapped his jaws in hunger.
"Guys, these must be the Dinoquins Kon, Chikara, and Juto were telling us about!" Jade said in shock as the five ponies lit their horns, stood on their hind legs, held their mystic weapons in their hands.
"Well, we found them." Sunray said while gazing at the Dinoquins in shock as the beasts growled at them menacingly.
"More like they found us." Antonio quipped with a nervous gulp.
"Stay on your guard, guys." Chase said while glaring at the bigger Quinkan beasts. "Concentrate your chi. Hit hard and hit fast."
"Got it." Jade replied back as the five ponies then concentrated before they were engulfed with their chi.
The Tyrannoquin with scars on his face roared towards its companions to stop them as the other Dinoquins replied back with a roar of their own.
"You know, guys. I bet that one with the scars has to be the leader." Trini said while pointing at the lead Tyrannoquin.
"Well, don't let him and his boys bite your skin." Chase said as the Dinoquins charged at the five ponies.
Chase and his team did the same as they dodged the beasts' jaws before they got into combat stances while holding their respective weapons in their aura hands.
The lead Tyrannoquin charged at Chase while the others charged at his family. Chase jumped up to avoid the gaping jaws of the Dinoquin and landed on its head before slamming his right aura fist on it hard, making the beast roar in pain as it tried to shake the alicorn master off.
In an instant Chase jumped up and fired a lightning bolt at the Dinoquin, making it roar in pain again as it felt the electricity flow through it.
After it shook the pain off, the lead Tyrannoquin swung its tail at Chase, knocking him to the ground as he grunted in pain.
"Ah!" Chase cried out, gaining his family's attention.
"Chase!" Jade yelled out to her older brother, only for her and the others to get tail swiped by the other Tyrannoquins in the process as they grunted in pain.
"These guys sure are tough." Antonio said to his while rubbing his head in pain.
"We can't let them get to the city. Let's give them a taste of our powers, guys! Time to unleash our dragons onto these creeps!" Chase said to his family.
"Right!" Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio replied back before the five ponies concentrated their chi again.
This time they used their chi to bring out their respective dragons as they roared at the Dinoquins, who replied back with a growl and snarl.
The Elite Ninja jumped onto their respective dragons.
"Alright, guys! Let's get primeval with these Dinoquins!" Chase said with a smirk as his dragon roared menacingly at the Dinoquins before they all went into battle.
Chase and his dragon charged at the lead Tyrannoquin, but the Dinoquin whacked them both aside his tail.
Jade and her dragon charged straight at the second Tyrannoquin, only for them to get whacked aside by its head before it grabbed the tail of the unicorn mare's dragon, lifting them high in the air as Jade yelped in surprise. Then she and her dragon got slammed to the ground.
"Eat it, boys!" Trini shouted as she charged at the third Tyrannoquin while riding her dragon.
But then they were immediately knocked over by the third Tyrannoquin from its tail. Just as it was about to finish them off, a rock hits the Dinoquin on the head as it looks up to see Sunray, who had thrown the rock from above while riding his dragon.
"Haha! Eat it!" Sunray shouted with a smirk as he looked back, only to gasp in surprise to see the fourth Tyrannoquin running up to them and jumped up, clamping its jaws on Sunray's dragon as it roared in pain.
The fourth Tyrannoquin slammed the dragon to the ground as Sunray grunted in pain.
Chase got up as he noticed his family down and out from the Tyrannoquins as his dragon growled at the evil beasts. Chase glared at them as well, having enough of this.
He then uses his lightning element to blast a bolt of electricity at the Tyrannoquin leader in the back of its head, causing it to roar in pain. The leader and his comrades turned to glare at the alicorn master as his dragon stood up, snarling at the four Dinoquins.
Digging its clawed feet to the ground, the lead Tyrannoquin charged at the two, only for Chase's dragon to tail swipe the beast to the ground as the other Dinoquins charged at the two.
But Chase and his dragon were ready for this as the alicorn master fires a beam of lightning at the three Tyrannoquins, shocking them in the process as they roared in pain giving Chase's dragon to charge at them.
The dragon grabbed the second Tyrannoquin by the tail, swung it a bit before tossing it in the air and punched it into the water. The third and fourth ones tried to attack the pair from behind, only for them to get their tails caught by Jade and Sunray's dragons after they, Trini, and Antonio recovered.
Jade and Sunray's dragons tossed the last two remaining Dinoquins into the air, giving Trini and Antonio's dragons the advantage of punching them to the ground.
As the four Tyrannoquins recovered the attack, they noticed Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio sitting on their respective dragons while glaring at the four Dinoquins with their mystic creatures doing the same.
Realizing that they are no match for the ten, the four Tyrannoquins retreated to somewhere else.
Seeing the danger gone, Chase sighed with relief as he and the rest of his family used their chi to make their dragons disappear. Five then landed on the ground back on all fours.
"Looks like those boys were sure of a challenge, huh?" Trini asked her family while looking at the direction the Tyrannoquins disappeared.
"Yeah, but it looks like we haven't seen the last of them yet." Chase said with a glare as he looked at their destination.
"Hey, guys! Check this out!" Sunray said, gaining his family's attention as they went over to see what he was looking at.
They see a Netherworld Quartz lying on the ground, the only difference is that it's glowing a dark green color while giving off a humming sound.
"Hmm, it looks like some kind of Netherworld Quartz crystal." Jade said while she used her magic to lift the crystal off the ground. "They must've dropped it here."
"If they're more of those gems lying around, where could they be?" Chase asked curiously.
"Probably in the same direction those Tyrannoquins just went off to." Sunray guessed with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, we won't figure it out until we get back to the Tribunal. Let's go." Chase said as the five ponies went off to get back to the village.
Unknown to them, hiding in the mountains was none other than a still very much alive mutated Wuya as she had witnessed everything.
"So he's still alive." Wuya said with a devious smirk. "It's the perfect opportunity to have my pets to get Chase and his family out of my way once and for all as well as having sweet revenge."
Wuya chuckled sinister as she flew off into the distance.
(Scene changes)
Back at the village, Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio had just arrived as Chen approached his great grandchildren with Nandu Gili, Dojo, Bagheera, Kon, Chikara, and Juto right behind him.
"Welcome back, my great grandchildren." Chen said as he approached the five ponies. "Was your mission successful?"
"Yes, Grandpa Chen." Chase replied back with a bow. "The Tyrannoquins have been driven off by us."
"Yeah, and we managed to find this in our battle against them." Jade added as she held the green glowing Netherworld Quartz crystal with her magic.
She hands Kon the crystal, who takes it with his magic and turns his attention back to the five.
"Good work. That was… close." Kon said with a relieved smile.
"Oh!" Dojo said with a teasing smirk as Kon turned to him with an annoyed look. "Are you beginning to care?" He turns his attention back to Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio. "You know, guys. Kon says-"
POW!
"Yah!" Dojo yelped as he was tossed away off screen somewhere else.
"My concern was the wellbeing of Japon being suffered from the Quinkan." Kon said while hiding his emotional side with a forced smile. "And we will make sure that our soldiers keep an eye out for any of the beasts coming."
"That Netherworld Quartz you've found." Chikara said while approaching Kon as she looked at the Elite Ninja. "It is very rare indeed. Chen says that it is what empowers not only Zhao's portal, but also allows him to make an additional unlimited power to create powerful beasts for his army."
"We will have Chen examine this crystal while you five prepare for the next arena fight." Juto said firmly as he uses his magic to hand Chen the Netherworld Quartz.
"Yes. Once again you must test your fighting skills in the Arena of Death." Kon said to Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio. "Face down your fears, defeat those who oppose you, and we will see if your skills are of use to us. The purity of the arena is our only guide!"
"Excuse me, Master Kon. Yes, I'd like to place a complaint." Antonio said with a sarcastic smile before he became agitated. "We've been training hard, my hooves are killing me, and I think I'm getting a bruise from our battle with the Tyrannoquins! So maybe I'll just sit this one out."
"Enough talk!" Juto said sternly. "The arena awaits!"
Chase, Jade, Sunray, and Trini nodded with determined smirk while Antonio sighs in defeat before nodding as well.
Kon, Juto, Chikara, and Nandu Gili walked away to the Arena of Death as Chen left to study the Netherworld Quartz as well.
Just as Chase and his family were about to walk away with Bagheera following them, Seem approached them with a firm look.
"You and your family are still here?" Seem asked Chase sternly.
"Yeah, we were just about to head to the arena until you just had to show up." Chase remarked sarcastically as he, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio glared at Seem.
"Look, if you've come here to insult our grandfather's spirit, then you better think twice before you do something you might regret." Sunray said to Seem angrily.
Seem paid no attention to Sunray as she had her attention to Chase.
"You and your family will never last out here. That Netherworld Quartz you found out there, it will draw in the attention of the Quinkan and everyday they grow stronger. This world's final trial is coming." Seem said gravely, but Chase and his family just looked unfazed by this as they glared at the Earth Pony monk.
"We'll see about that. We've taken on the Quinkan plenty of times and we're gonna make sure that they won't take over Equestria." Chase said with determination.
This made Seem put on a smirk.
"Yes, we shall see." Seem said before she walked away.
"Don't worry about her, guys." Bagheera said to the five ponies as they turned to him. "I'm sure she'll come around and see her wrong doings."
"I hope you're right, Bagheera." Chase said with an unsure look as he, Jade, Sunray, Trini, Antonio, and Bagheera walked to the direction of the Arena of Death. "Because if she doesn't, I'm gonna have a frank talk with her about this attitude she has lately with life and death."
"Chase, I'm sure that she's just obsessed with them." Jade said to her brother as she walked next to him. "I mean think about it. She can be rash, but she just doesn't want Equestria gone."
This made Chase turn to her before he sighed, knowing Jade was right before the five continued onward to the Arena of Death.
(Scene changes)
Eventually, the Elite Ninja were walking through the tunnel leading towards the Arena of Death before they eventually came to the end as the crowd was cheering for them.
"Alright, guys. Let's do it." Chase said as he and his family jumped into the middle of the arena with their horns lit, standing on their hind legs as aura hands replaced their front hooves.
This time they took out the new versions of their previous weapons and held them in their aura hands.
Kon, Chikara, and Juto sat on their respective thrones with Nandu Gili, Bagheera, and Dojo watching as well.
The tunnels opened up as twenty five powerful Quinkan soldiers came out consisting of Electroquin, Pyroquin, Protoquin, Shieldquin, and Uberquin.
The soldiers growled at the five ponies before they charged at them. Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio stood their ground while holding their weapons ready.
"Take 'em down, guys!" Chase shouted as the five charged at the soldiers and this time they were ready.
Antonio was facing off against the Uberquins as he dodged a punch from the first one, dodged a punch from the second one before he back kicked it aside, and upper cut the third one to the ground. The fourth and the fifth tried to attack Antonio, but he dodged and blocked their attacks. Then he used his chi to send a powerful tremor to the ground, knocking the last two soldiers to the ground.
Sunray was facing off against the Pyroquin soldiers as they tried to punch and kick him, but he was able to twirl his bo staff to whack two of them aside as well as side step to the side after third one tried to punch the unicorn stallion.
"Eat it, freako!" Sunray shouted as he jumped and kicked the third one aside.
He then sensed the last two coming at him from behind and used his Fire element to shoot a beam of flames at them, knocking the soldiers to the ground.
Jade took on the five Protoquin soldiers as the first one tried to palm strike her, but she dodged it and kicked it aside as well as using her tessens to whack the other two aside, and used her Water element to send a wave of water at the last remaining two soldiers as they were knocked to the ground.
Trini dodged a few electric shocks from the first and second Electroquins before she charged at them and performed a double phoenix kick at them, sending the two to the ground. She dodges a kick and a punch from the third soldier before she palm strikes it aside to the ground. She uses her Wind element and blows a gust of wind at the last remaining two to the ground.
Finally, Chase was facing off against the Shieldquin soldiers as they tried to swipe him aside, but he dodged every single one of their attacks and performed a dragon punch to the first one. He rolls to the side, avoiding a jab from the second one before he kicks it aside and uses his katana swords to block the third soldier's shield. Chase jumps in the air and uses his Lightning element to fire an electric beam at the last remaining three soldiers, shocking them in the process. Chase lands on the ground and spin kicks the three Quinkan soldiers to the ground.
With the last of the soldiers down, the crowd cheered for the Elite Ninja as they turned to crowd with smiles and they walked onto the platform. It rose them up to the stone pillar and the five stepped on it while paying their attention to Kon, Chikara, Juto, Nandu Gili, Bagheera, and Dojo.
"I can't believe you guys are still alive!" Dojo said in amazement.
"Yeah, what a surprise." Trini said with a smirk.
"Kon, Juto, Chikara, and I are very impressed." Dojo said with a smile.
"Hey, Dojo! Who appointed you king?" Sunray asked with a glare.
"Kon did!" Dojo retorted before he recomposed himself. "Well, almost. Kind of a semi-king, you know. You should see our sleeping quarters and his harem of love birds. Ooh!" Dojo had a lovesick smile on his face as Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio shared unamused looks with each other. "I never get any sleep these days. Hehe. It's good to be the king, right?"
Kon, Juto, and Chikara shared a smirk with him.
"I don't see no crown on that fat scale head!" Antonio said, getting fed up with Dojo's gloating.
"You want a crown?! I crown you, Antonio! Don't make me come down there from this perch!" Dojo said, warningly with a glare.
"I got a perch for you, dragon boy! Right here! Twirl on it!" Antonio said with a smirk, making the crowd gasp in shock of what they heard and Dojo lost his temper
"THAT'S IT! IT'S GO TIME!" Dojo shouted as he jumped towards Antonio.
"Bring it on, Dojo!" Antonio said as he got into a fighting stance.
"Enough!" Kon shouted as Chase used his magic to pull the two away from each other and placed Dojo next to Bagheera. "If I wanted you to fight, I would have commanded it."
He then removes his stern expression and turns his attention to Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio with a proud smile.
"You and your family did very well, Chase." Kon said while also trying to hide his emotional side. "You make us proud… that our training program is so good…" He then recomposed himself. "Here are each of your second battle armor and a new weapon addition."
Chase and his family looked at the bench in front of them to see ninja arm gauntlets as well as a pair of sais, a pair of nunchucks, a pair of tonfas, a pair of kamas, and a tanto blade.
The five then strapped the new armor to their hooves and picked their choice of weapons.
Sunray took the sais, Antonio strapped the nunchucks to his belt, Jade strapped the tanto blade to her belt, Trini strapped the tonfas to her belt, and Chase strapped the kamas to his belt as well.
"One more arena win, and you five will be true wastelanders and ninjas of Japon." Kon said as Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio smiled in response, knowing they were close to earning the ranks of the Ninja Tribunal.
(Scene changes)
A little while later, the five walked back to Chen's dojo as he was done finishing up examining the Netherworld Quartz crystal as the elder unicorn turned to his great grandchildren.
"I saw what you five have done in the arena." Chen said with a smile. "Congratulations. You five are that much closer to earning your ranks in the Tribunal."
"Well, it wasn't that bad." Sunray said with a smirk.
Chase then had something on his mind as he approached his great grandfather.
"Grandpa Chen, there's something I wanted to ask you." Chase said as Chen turned to him. "If the Tribunal fought the Quinkan long ago, how did they know about them?"
Chen looked at his great grandson for a moment before he sighed.
"It was long ago when Gusty The Great single handedly defeated Grogar. The last battle took place at the bottom of Mt. Everhoof when Gusty took Grogar's Bewitching Bell from him. And in the process, he was drained from his powers." Chen explained that a flashback showed Gusty and Grogar fighting until the legendary goat was defeated by draining his magic. "But not all of them were gone. Even though Gusty hid his bell at the top of the mountain, not all of his magic was completely drained."
The flashback shows Grogar's magic flowing into the air and going through a portal that leads right into the Netherworld. Suddenly, his magic went into the Sanzu River and was controlled by it. Then a fist came shot out and a powerful figure burst out of the water as it landed on the banks.
"Grogar's magic had flowed right into a portal that led it in the Netherworld and it came in contact with the Sanzu River, creating the most powerful monster that Equestria now feared long ago." Chen said as the figure rose up, opening his orange eyes and narrowing them.
"Emperor Zhao." Chase's voice said in shock.
"Yes." Chen's voice said as Zhao appeared from the portal and landed on the ground, coming face to face with Gusty. A fight broke out between the two until Zhao gained the upper hand by using his electric powers on Gusty, rendering her helpless. Then Zhao destroys Gusty the Great by draining her magic and absorbing it with his left aura hand before he obliterates her in the process. "A battle took place against the two, but through Zhao's merciful ways, he ultimately defeated Gusty with his electric powers and destroyed her in the process."
Another flashback showed a group of ponies learning jiu jitsu under the White Lotus Clan as Zhao had observed everything and smirks evilly. Then it showed his huge army in his command learning kung fu and jiu jitsu as well with their leader watching over them. Now in his armor, Zhao led a full force attack on Equestria.
"The Quinkan had risen up from the Netherworld and Zhao led a full force attack on Equestria. He had one goal in mind; to terraform Equestria into the next Netherworld Dimension and destroy all life around the world that would later one day become the Age of Ragnarok." Chen's voice explained as the Quinkan began to terrorize Equestria with ponies fleeing in fear from the army. After a hundred years, the White Lotus Clan came to battle the evil spirit monster army to end their threat. "Zhao was unstoppable that day when he had stolen Grogar's magic as well as Gusty the Great's powers as well. He was so far known to be the new emperor that Equestria would call him Zhao who darkened the moon to pledge everypony's nightmares. They called him Zhao the Conqueror, Zhao the MoonSlayer, Zhao... the Invincible. He left a trail of debris in his way and nothing could stop him from reaching his goal until one day the White Lotus Clan appeared three hundred years ago to end the war. Which of course was led by Pakku Shisho, Iroh Shang, and Bumi Ozark."
The flashback showed the White Lotus Clan leaders, Pakku, Iroh, and Bumi going against Zhao as the three alicorn masters battled against the Quinkan leader and gained the upper hoof by using their chi on him and his army, but only leaving half of his army standing while the rest had turned into dust. Then the army was transported back to the Netherworld along with Zhao, who had been furious over his failure.
"The clan used their chi on the Quinkan and left half of the army into dust while the rest along with Zhao were banished to the Netherworld never to return again. But Zhao had left one last warning that he would return one day to destroy Equestria again." Chen's voice said further as Zhao glared at the portal while the White Lotus Clan glared at him as well.
"I will return and this world belong to me again! You will all pay for this! You will-" Past Zhao shouted, only for the portal to close by Pakku's magic.
Flashback ended
Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio listened with awe and amazed expressions of the whole story.
"Since that day, Zhao has been trying to find a way to return. But nopony has ever seen him since the day he was banished." Chen concluded the story.
Then there was something else on Chase's mind.
"What about Kon, Juto, and Chikara? Have they had recent history with the Quinkan?" Chase asked curiously.
"Yes." Chen replied back as he began to tell another story. "But it was when they were only young unicorns back in Canterlot."
Flashback
The flashback shows a younger Kon, Juto, and Chikara back when they were unicorns the first time at Canterlot. It was there that they were training under the arts of jiu jitsu in the White Lotus Clan.
"It goes back to when they were only young at the time as well as when they used to be unicorns." Chen said as Kon, Chikara, and Juto were practicing their katas. Then they began the basics of weaponry. Kon was perfecting his skills with a pair of katana swords, Chikara did the same with a spear, and Juto perfected his skills with a war hammer. "They were perfecting the arts of jiu jitsu and weaponry under Pakku's rule."
(Scene changes)
Young Kon was walking through the streets of Canterlot, minding his own business when he accidentally bumped into somepony. He looked to see a younger Princess Celestia standing in front of him.
"When Kon had grown a little older, he met the love of his life; Princess Celestia." Chen continued as Young Princess Celestia helped him up and they gazed at each other for a moment before they smiled at one another fondly.
(Scene changes)
The two spent a lot of time together from sitting at the edge of the pond in the courtyard while Kon took some time off from training, watching the sunset as they became teenagers, becoming alicorns on earning their wings from their own destinies, then came the day that they had grown up into adults and got married.
"It was clear that Princess Celestia had loved Kon more than anything. But nothing could've been happier for them when they had their baby daughter." Chen continued to narrate as Celestia had given birth to their first daughter.
Kon held their daughter in his left wing as he and Celestia smiled at their daughter lovingly. A few years later, their daughter had grown much older and was seven years old.
She had her mother's white fur coat, her father's blue eyes, light blue mane and tail, and her cutie mark was a sun and moon combined like that of a ying yang.
But that life changed when the Quinkan attacked as they terrorized the town as Kai appeared in front of the three regal alicorns with a malicious grin.
"However, it came to an end when the Quinkan began the attack on Canterlot. And the process, Zhao sent his loyal assassin, Kai, to steal the chi from any alicorn master. During that invasion, one of his countless victims would be Celestia and Kon's daughter." Chen's voice said sadly as Kai blocked the attacks Kon and Celestia threw at him until he used his chains to knock them aside and used his hands to glow a green color before he absorbed Celestia and Kon's daughter in the process.
After the battle, Kon felt ashamed of what happened and had to leave to find warriors that would help him in his fight against the Quinkan. Chikara and Juto left with him as Celestia sheds a few tears from her eyes and hopes that Kon will return someday.
"Since that day, Kon had left for the Wasteland with Juto and Chikara aiding him to find warriors to combat the Quinkan. So far they have been lucky. They began training some ponies that had become outcasts and were brought here. They even allied themselves with Nandu Gili and his Bunyips to aid in their Tribunal of Japon and help them study chi to combine it with magic as well as the elements around the world. From fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, and metal." Chen's voice continued to narrate as Kon, Chikara, and Juto allied themselves with Nandu Gili as well as the rest of the Bunyips.
In the process, the three alicorn masters have been training the ponies from nothings to acolytes to combat the Quinkan with the aid of the Bunyips.
Flashback ended
"From then on, the Ninja Tribunal found special places in the ponies hearts while the Bunyips began to pass their wisdom and knowledge to help them guide their way to stop Zhao's army." Chen concluded as Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio heard everything with shocked looks, especially when they heard of Kon and Princess Celestia being married. "And that moment soon changed when you five came as well after the EEA banished you here to the Wasteland. It was quite a surprise to have you here so that you can aid the ponies of Japon for."
"I guess it was." Chase said in agreement before he remembered what happened to Zhao. "And that's why Zhao became very powerful from Grogar's magic."
"Now it all makes sense of why he wants his throne. He would rule all of Equestria and become more powerful if he stole all the magic as well as chi that he could possibly find." Jade added as well.
"His power sounds worse than Tirek." Sunray said with a disturbed look.
"And Zhao maybe gone, but his followers are still at large and will still find ways to rule the world." Chen said as he turned his attention. "Darius has made it well to make you the chosen one, Chase. The same feeling has it for the Tribunal for with in you, they see much potential and determination. They expect you to rise to their challenge, as do I."
Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio bowed their heads in reply before they stood up.
"Now, you must continue your training. Tomorrow is your final even in the arena. But it will be much harder for you. For the challenge it will be wastelander against wastelander." Chen said with a serious look. "Be prepared at all costs, my great grandchildren. You will need your strength as well."
The five nodded in reply before they went off to get ready for their training.
(Scene changes)
Chase was perfecting his katas with Jade joining him. Trini, Antonio, and Sunray were mastering their elements as well.
Then they spared against each other as well to prepare themselves against the wastelanders. In retaliation, Chase was the last one standing after taking his family down from dragon punches, phoenix kicks, and palm strikes.
Kon, Chikara, and Juto watched from the sidelines while feeling much impressed with their five students' skills.
(Scene changes)
The next day came for the final arena fight as Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio walked out of the tunnel before they climbed on the platform. It took them up to the pillar and stood in the middle. They could hear the crowd cheering for them.
Nandu Gili took a few steps forward before he stopped as he tapped the end of his staff to the ground, silencing the crowd and turning his attention to the Elite Ninja.
"Welcome to the final event in the Arena of Death." Nandu Gili addressed the Elite Ninja. "It's time to put your skills to the test to face off against our best Wastelanders to become full members of the Ninja Tribunal. But be warned, this combat to the death. Good luck and may the bravest pony win."
Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio nodded in reply before they stepped onto the smaller platform. They begin to descend down to the matter-former before the platform stopped as the five ponies jumped into the arena on their hind legs with their horns lit, aura hands replacing their front hooves, and their weapons dished out.
"Alright, guys. You ready to do this?" Chase asked his family as they smiled at him.
"You kidding?" Trini asked with a smile.
"I'm ready for this." Sunray added with a smirk.
"We got your back, Chase." Jade added in agreement.
"You bet we are." Antonio added with a smirk as well.
Chase smiled at their determination before they turned to the tunnels as they opened up with wastelanders armed with weapons ready to fight the Elite Ninja.
The five ponies held their respective weapons in a fighting stance of their own.
"Let the tournament begin!" Nandu Gili shouted as the crowd cheered for the Wastelanders.
The Wastelanders charged at Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio, who held their ground.
Without a moment to lose, the five ponies jumped upward and they each sent a kick towards one of the Wastelanders, knocking them to the ground.
Sunray dodged a few attacks from two Wastelanders before double kicking them to the ground. He dodged a few punches from the other ones, bents down, and knee kicks them to the ground as well. He uses his sais to block the spear from one of the female Wastelanders before whacking it aside and kicking his challenger to the ground.
Antonio high kicks two Wastelanders aside, dodges a punch from the other before he palm strikes him off screen. He swings his nunchucks with both his hands before he uses them to whack three Wastelanders aside and punches two more away.
Jade uses her tessen fans to whack five Wastelanders aside, blocks an incoming punch from a male Wastelander before she jumps in the air and spin kicks him in the head, sending him to the ground. She ducks down just in time to avoid a whack from a female fighter's spear before punching her in the gut, sending her off screen.
Trini back flips just in time to avoid a sword attack from two female Wastelanders before she got into a fighting stance. She bends down to avoid a sword swipe from one male Wastelander as well as the other before she performs a double phoenix punch at both of them and then kicks the other one aside.
Finally, Chase uses his katana swords to block a spear from one of the female Wastelanders and kicks her aside. He dodges each punch from two male Wastelanders before he punches them aside and comes face to face with three other female Wastelanders, only one of them appears to have a hood over her face.
The three charged at the alicorn stallion and tried to perform some attacks on Chase, only for him to dodge them as well as block the attacks. He then punches the two aside and dodges a kick from the third one that had the hood over her face. She tries to send a punch at Chase again, but this time he blocked it before he performed a spinning back kick to her head as she fell to the ground on her back. But in the process her hood came off
The third female Wastelander got up and turned around to face Chase as Jade, Sunray, Trini, and Antonio just joined their leader. But one good luck at her face and the five ponies gasp in great surprise of who they saw.
It was none other than Tempest Shadow.
"Tempest?!" Chase exclaimed in shock.
"Chase? Jade? Sunray? Trini? Antonio?" Tempest asked in surprise.
"Tempest?!" Antonio asked in shock as his family looked surprised to see the former commander of the Storm King.
"Well, don't you five look sorrier than ever." Tempest complemented with a smirk.
"What are you doing here?" Sunray asked her in surprise.
"Honing my skills, Sunray. Let's finish this." Tempest said with a determined look on her face.
"Whoa, come on, Tempest. We're not gonna fight you!" Jade said with a reasoning look.
"If we don't, they'll kill us both. The rule of the arena." Tempest reminded her former enemies. She uses her spear to take aim at the five heroes. "Sorry, guys. Nothing personal…"
"Oh boy." Antonio said as his family just stood their ground, not moving from where they were standing.
Tempest had her eyes narrowed before she sighed in regret and dropped her spear to the ground.
Seeing this, Kon was furious of his fighters not taking on each other.
"Blasphemy! One must destroy the other! Complete the test or face worse pain!" Kon demanded sternly as Nandu Gili watched with concern for the six.
"I just know I'm gonna regret this." Tempest said with a glare.
This time, Kon finally had enough.
"Seize them!" Kon shouted angrily while pointing at the six ponies.

Here's chapter 28 and I've added plenty of surprises for this one. With a dinosaur surprise to it as well. I've been a big fan of Jurassic Park when I was a kid and decided to add an exciting twist to it, especially adding in Tempest Shadow as well. I did my best on this one and will be back to writing Chapter 29 soon enough. Hope you guys like it.
