"Oh my gosh…" Zelda gasped softly. "Link…"
The young princess of Hyrule clasped her hands to her mouth, her bright blue eyes sparkling.
Her beloved hero was kneeling before her throne.
Instead of being armed with his sword as usual, he had something else clutched in his hand, which he was holding out towards the beautiful monarch.
"Flowers?" Zelda exclaimed. "Are these for me, Link?"
Link nodded slowly. He was as silent as always as he held his gift out towards the princess.
With a smile filling her face, Zelda jumped off her throne and ran towards Link. She gratefully accept the bouquet from him. She held it in her hands as she took in the yellow tulips, white lilies and red roses.
"Wow, Link…" Zelda murmured. "These must've cost you a lot of Rupees…"
Link grinned and shrugged wordlessly.
Zelda sniffed over the flowers, warmth spreading through her from their aroma. The princess was thankful for such a wonderful surprise from the brave warrior, who just so happened to be her childhood friend - and the love of her life.
"Thank you, Link. This is such a lovely surprise." Zelda threw her arms around her hero, embracing him tightly and kissing his cheek. "I love these flowers - and I love you."
Link's smile softened as he hugged Zelda back. He remained quiet as ever - not uttering a word over how he hadn't spent a single Rupee on his gift for her.
Having completed his current quest to make the princess happy, the young warrior's next one was how to avoid facing the wrath of her father. Link didn't know how he was going to fill in the patch he'd left in the King of Hyrule's garden - where he'd dig out the flowers to give to his daughter…
THE END
