February of 1812 brings startling news to Longbourn; a distant relation has died, leaving Elizabeth Bennet a fortune. And what of Mr. Darcy, who left Hertfordshire to escape his attraction to Miss Elizabeth? Will her fortune pull them together, or drive them apart?

This story is about Miss Mary Bennet of Longbourn in Hertfordshire. One of the beloved characters in Jane Austen's original "Pride and Prejudice." She does not need anyone else's approval to know her self-worth. Therefore, she will not allow herself to be disrespected. What happens when the handsome Colonel presumes to know Miss Mary.

What if Longbourn was not entailed on the male line, but a daughter could inherit? What if Jane were The Heiress of Longbourn? How would that change what happened in our beloved PnP story?

A Fantasy Variation: Mr.Darcy needs to find a mate for his griffin, leave Netherfield, and fulfill his responsibilities. If he finds himself attracted to a lady of inferior birth it is only because his griffin is going into heat. It has nothing to do with her fine eyes or the liveliness of her mind. He can not be distracted. Not even if his griffin really likes her.
