Chapter One

It was eight o'clock in the morning and a young woman was receiving a guided tour of the UIC Police Headquarters by Detective Lindsay. As it was her first day, she attentively listened to Lindsay's instructions, saying, "Please proceed upstairs. Your handprint has been programmed, granting you access to the bullpen. Give it a try."

Upon placing her hand on the illuminated handprint, Soifon entered the bullpen, accompanied by Lindsay. "Excellent. Let us now proceed upstairs, where I will show you the location of your desk!" Lindsay exclaimed, leading the way.

Upon reaching the bullpen, Soifon observed her future colleagues and felt a sense of relief in recognizing at least one person, or two if Erin's foster father Hank Voight is included. "Over there is Olinsky, that's Atwater, this is Ruzek, and Antonio is located there. You will meet Jay and Mouse later. However, this is your designated desk, where you can personalize it according to your preferences." "Welcome to the team, Soifon!" Antonio greeted as he walked over to the two.

Soifon gave a small nod to the man who had walked over to Erin and her. "Thank you, Sir. I will do my best!" she promised, causing Antonio to smile. "I bet you will!" he said. After greeting her, the older man headed back to his desk.

Once Antonio walked away from the two women, Soifon followed Erin over to her desk, which was next to her as the pale brunette had said. This made her grateful since she would rather be close to someone she knows. "Thank you, Erin!" She set her bag on the desk and her coat on the back of her chair. "Don't worry about it and don't hesitate to come to any of us and ask questions. We are here to help!"

Soifon nodded as she watched her old friend head to her desk to start her work. She couldn't help but smile at her back. She was excited about this new opportunity and the chance to work with people she knew and get to know others she knew it would take time to get to know everyone.

After a few hours of setting everything on her desk, Soifon was waiting for them to get a case. Voight had told them he would find something for them to do. Erin walked back over to her desk, checking in on the raven-haired woman. "How is everything going?" the brunette woman asked as she leaned against Soifon's desk.

"At the moment, it's boring!" Soifon admitted with a small smile. "Other than that, everything is going alright!" causing her friend to smile. "It's good to see you again, Soi!" Erin said as she rested her hand on top of her friend's desk. "It's good to see you as well!"

"Anyway, would you like to go to the basement and meet Jay and Mouse? That's where they're at. Jay is helping Mouse since he is also new!" Erin explained. Soifon smiled and nodded. "I don't mind. Anything is better than sitting while we wait for a case to come in!" Causing the other woman who was leaning on her desk to chuckle at her words" Don't worry Voight will find us a case." Erin promised as she pushed herself off of her friend's desk Soifon stood up and pushed her chair in.

Soifon nodded with a small smile following the brunette down to the basement where Jay and Mouse were at.

It didn't take the two women long to reach the basement Soifon could hear voices coming from the basement " Jay will be working with us on cases Mouse will be working on the phones, and will be helping us by hacking into cams, and anything that we need him to look up." Erin explained once they reached the two men who were talking to one another.

" I can't thank you enough, Jay!" Mouse was saying with a smile as the two women walked over to the two of them" It's no problem I am here to help." The brown-haired male replied with a smile on her face he turned his head when Erin called his name" Oh, hey Erin how are you?"

The brunette woman smiled fondly at Jay before speaking" I'm doing alright, what about you?" Jay shrugged" Same old." He joked as he turned his green gaze on the woman next to Erin" And you must be Soifon, our other new member." Jay said in a welcoming tone as Soifon looked at him with a calm look.

Erin couldn't help but smack Jay in the shoulder playfully" Yes, this is Soifon Gray she'll be working alongside us." Soifon looked at the two men as Mouse introduced himself" Hi, I'm Mouse, It's nice to meet you." He moved his hand for her to shake it which she took it.

" It's nice to meet you both!" Soifon said as she shook both men's hands she couldn't help but be tense around them but she did feel comfortable around Erin, she shook it off as Erin spoke up and looked at her phone" Voight, had found a case for us to do!" Soifon listened to the other woman as Jay and Mouse listened as well.

Soifon followed Erin and Jay upstairs to the bullpen to hear about the case which everyone stood around Voight as he explained " A young girl was killed by a drive-by while she was riding her bike." he began as Antonio placed the picture of the little girl "This is Jade, she was eight years old!" The raven-haired man explained turning back to the others.

Soifon listened to the higher-up as he explained things she frowned at the news why would anyone kill an eight-year-old girl who was just riding her bike? She turned her head to see Erin's expression which was similar to hers" Erin, I want you, Jay, and Soifon to go talk to the parents of Jade and ask them a few questions." Voight voice broke Soifon out of her thoughts " Will do!" Erin said as she led the way out of the bullpen" We will catch this creep, who the hell will shoot a little girl?" Jay followed after the two" A heartless person, but it might not been on purpose they might be shooting at someone else and had gotten the little girl by mistake." He said. Soifon hoped that Jay was right but she had a feeling it wasn't the case but they didn't have time to think about it.

Once the three of them got into the car Erin drove to Jade's home to talk to her parents, Soifon fidgeted in her seat as she looked out the window she listened to Erin and Jay talking about the case" We'll talk to the parents and see if-" Jay began when his phone went off.

" Yeah?"

" Hey, I've found something!" Mouse voice came from the other end" Alright we're listening!" Soifon looked over her seat to listen.

" Kevin had just got a call in on a red pickup! I am checking out the cams to see if I can find it." Mouse told them.

Erin looked over her shoulder" Do you know who owns the truck?" She asked loud enough for Mouse to hear" Hold on a second I'll check."

After a few minutes of a long silence " Alright it says a woman is the owner of the truck named Becca Johnson she's a 35 dirty blond-haired woman. But nothing else is popping up yet." the young man said. Tapping the wheel with her fingers she turned her attention back to the road" Alright we'll have to ask the parents if they knew a Becca Johnson and see why would she want to hurt their daughter!" The brunette said," Thank you for the information Mouse, we'll talk later keep us in the loop if you end up finding something else."

Soifon listened to the conversation as she looked out the window once Erin pulled up to the house " Alright, let's go up there and ask them questions." She said. Letting out a sigh as Soifon for out of the car with the help of Erin she gave her friend a small nod of thanks and both women followed Jay to the house.

Once the three of them reached the door Jade's parents walked out of the house " Hi, Mr. And Miss. Frank. I'm Detective Lindsay, and this is Detective Gray and Detective Halstead We're here on behalf of your daughter and we want to ask a few questions if we can!" Erin began" And we're sorry about your loss."

The couple let the detectives inside and let them sit down on the couch, Erin and Jay sat down on the couch across from Mr. And Miss. Frank why Soifon stood by the window to listen and speak when she had to she was going to let Erin and Jay talk since they have been working longer then she has.

" Do any of you know this woman?" Erin asked pulling Becca's picture up on her phone and showed the two" No, we haven't!" Mr. Frank said as he looked at the picture.

" This is Becca Johnson and we believe she was the one that shot your daughter." Erin began as she took her phone and put it in her lap.

Soifon listened to the conversation as Erin and Jay asked them questions which took about an hour and now they were heading out of the house" Well we're not close on finding Becca!" Jay said with a sigh.

" I can go around asking locals, and look up people that Becca might be hanging out with!" Soifon offered as she followed the two out of the house and got into the car" That's good, I'll talk to Voight why Jay helps Mouse!" Erin agreed.

After a few hours of driving the three of them made it back to Headquarters and all three went their separate ways.
