Sonic: King of Mobigypt
By: edowdle and DJ Rodriguez
(Author's Notes: Hey everyone! This is a special Sonic fanfiction, in honor of the hedgehog's 30th anniversary, when he first came out for the Sega system in 1991. My Author friend edowdle asked me to make a special fanfiction, since he is a bit hesitant about doing his own stories. So, here I am to help!
This special features not only Sonic modern characters… but also characters from the distant past! Characters found in such cartoons like The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog that was released in 1993, a series I loved very much watching as a kid! And also characters from the modern Sonic comics and games, made by the Archie Comics books & also from several video games.
According to my Author friend, Sonic will have a LOT of girls in his harem. And again, this is mostly from the mind of my friend, who I believe has a talent for writing but I think he needs to build his self-confidence.
In any case, enjoy the story here!)
Prologue
It is a bright day for the planet Mobius, as the citizens of the planet go to and fro about their business. However, there is much activity going on at a place called Mount Mobius, the highest mountain peak on the planet itself. In a make-shift shelter that stood out amongst the snow and rocks, a meeting was taking place.
In the abode was Professor Caninestein, Sonic the Hedgehog and Tawana Bandicoot. Sonic was a world-famous hero all over Mobius, a high-speed hedgehog that felt the need for speed and never staying in one place for too long. He was often seen with his buddy Tails the Two-Tailed Fox, the duo having adventures as they saved the planet from various villains'/villainesses, but their main foe was a human going by the name of Dr. Eggman.
The human's real name was Ivo Robotnik, but he preferred the Eggman moniker.
However, Sonic had hit a brick wall, so to speak. He had defeated Eggman some months ago, banishing him to the far reaches of space after the intense fiasco that involved an incredible artifact called the Phantom Ruby, an interdimensional gemstone that was supposed to be more potent than even the fabled seven Chaos Emeralds! The evil genius tried to use the gemstone as a weapon in a most complicated plan that almost succeeded, but thankfully he was halted by Sonic and his forces.
However, this caused Sonic to actually slow down for a change. With his adversary gone, and the citizens of Mobius having a task force that was cleaning up the last of Eggman's robotic empire, he honestly did not have much to do. Tails was spending more time with Cream Rabbit, possibly looking to get adopted by her mother Vanilla.
Knuckles was still guarding the Master Emerald on Angel Island, but it seemed that he was now in a serious relationship with Rouge. In fact, all of Sonic's friends seemed to be getting along without him. Even Amy had given up on chasing after him, settling down with a brown hedgehog boy that actually liked her a lot.
So with nothing to do and not wanting to come into his friend's lives after they were doing alright without him, he started to wonder what was next for him. After some weeks, he decided to try his hand at treasure hunting!
He would be like Knuckles, a treasure hunter but giving what he found to museums so he could bring in the money. He was not tied down to one facility, so often his findings were given away at legit auctions to museums around the planet. And he was given his fair share of the profits.
So for some months, he had become an experienced treasure hunter as he went across the planet, even finding places that were left completely untouched by Eggman! And in doing so, he gained a rival/love interest in the form of Tawana Bandicoot.
The punk-rocker babe was from another dimension, brought over to Sonic's world by a freak accident due to the actions of a human evil doctor by the name of Neo Cortex. When she arrived to the world, she was curious about it but decided to make a living as a tomb raider. She kept any and all objects she found to herself, selling only those that went for a pretty penny on the black market.
After some months of getting herself situated, she once ran into Sonic as they were exploring a mountain area on Mobius. Tawana was very much guarded towards Sonic, but after some time together, she formed a love/hate, off-an-on again friendship with him. She secretly loved on how fast he was, how handsome he was and also how he had moral strength. But hated him for pushing in on her territory, and her pride was strong and stubborn enough to hold its ground, so to speak.
When they came together at certain sites they decided to explore, they would team up... but once the prize was in sight, the truce was broken with every hunter/raider for themselves!
Now, the duo were meeting with Professor Caninestein. He was an old friend of Sonic... very old friend, as the duo had not seen or heard each other in years. The reason they were even meeting was due to the professor calling Sonic over to meet with him on Mt. Mobius to tell him something very important. Unfortunately, Tawana heard the conversation and managed to push her way into the meeting.
Sitting around a table, Sonic looked to his very old friend and asked, "Okay Professor, what do you have for me?".
The elderly anthro dog reached into his knapsack by his side and showed Sonic and Tawana some photographs. He answered, "Take a good look at this Sonic. I believe that you are familiar with them.".
The duo looked at the pictures, which were black and white. Sonic realized that he was looking at the picture of a pyramid, one that looked to have seen better days as it was partially demolished. However, he saw something peculiar as one of the pictures showed a close up of a stone... one that had a picture of a hedgehog in leg shackles! He gasped, which made Tawana become puzzled on why he did that.
Sonic looked to the professor in awe, pointing at the picture and saying, "D-Doc! Is that what I think it is?!".
The elderly scientist and researcher nodded and answered, "Indeed it is, my boy. That pyramid is the same one you went to years ago in order to find the Chaos Emerald of Immortality! That is Mobiegypt you are seeing, my lad!".
Tawana called out, "Okay, hold on! Time out! First off, what is so amazing about a stone drawing? And why all hyped up about this place called Mobigypt? And what is this Chaos Emerald thing?".
Sonic looked to her and said, "That's right, you don't know. Tawana, that stone drawing on the block is me.".
Seeing her confused expression, Prof. Caninestein explained, "You see my dear girl, this happened long before you came to this world. I had told Sonic and Tails about Robotnik's plan to...".
She held up her hand and inquired, "Robotnik? Who is he?".
Sonic explained, "He was one of the main bad guys on Mobius, than he changed and started to call himself Eggman.".
The professor continued, "Indeed. Now, where was I...? Oh yes! Robotnik had a plan to go back in time to steal four powerful Chaos Emeralds, each emerald granting the user an extraordinary power. And the land of Mobiegypt, which was about 4,000 years ago or so, had the Emerald. He went back in time to get it, but he also tried to erase Sonic from history.".
Tawana was very shocked to hear that, turning back to Sonic who explained, "Old Egg-Belly found out where my ancestors first started from, and he figured to try and make sure my great times twelve or so grandparents never met. If they didn't meet and fall in love, that was going to be game over for me.".
Professor Caninestein nodded and continued, "Sonic and Tails stopped him, but I had a little hand in it too. Once I saw the stone drawing of Sonic on the pyramid I discovered some time ago, I sent to him a chain-saw to help him get free.".
Sonic looked to his old friend and asked, "So professor, you re-found the pyramid after all these years?".
He nodded and answered, "Yes Sonic, even though it was very difficult. With so much of Mobius changing, either naturally or artificially thanks to the crazy doctor and the other events that have transpired on the planet, I was surprised to see that it once more. And I also discovered something else...".
Sonic looked at the professor in anticipation, Tawana the same as she was started to get interested. Plus, she could smell profit a mile away, and it seemed that what this old dog of a professor discovered was worth something big.
Prof. Caininestein continued on, "I have discovered that there is a chamber deep within the Burial Chamber that held Robotnikoteph the First, one that had more security on it than even the Mobiegyptians own pharaoh!".
For Sonic, this was big news. He knew that back in the ancient days, the Mobiegyptians held their leader the Pharaoh in high regard, burying with him all of his worldly objects so that he or she would be served well in the afterlife. And they had made many deadly and fatal traps to make sure that their leader's resting place was not disturbed. He knew this from first-hand experience; both from his time-travel to the ancient past & recently in some of his jaunts to other tombs all over the planet.
But he had never heard of anything that required higher security than even the Pharaoh.
Tawana put out eagerly, "So, what's in the chamber?! Gold?! Jewels?! What!?".
The elderly anthro dog looked to her and answered in a tired tone, "I do not know. I am getting on in age, Miss Tawana. I was barely able to even get to the Burial Chamber even with all of the traps either disabled or broken apart. Whatever is down there, I believe it is still intact and still ready to protect whatever is in that room.".
Sonic inquired, "Where is this chamber, and how do we get in?".
The anthro dog answered, "First, you must go to where Robotnikhotep the First is at. When you go to his chamber, look for three panels. One is the shape of a ring, the other a lamp and the final one looks to be a gemstone of sort. You need to press all three in sequence. Once you do, the very center of the chamber will showcase a secret stairway that leads down. You go from there to descend.".
The blue hedgehog put in, "That doesn't sound too hard.".
Professor Caninestien shook his head and stated, "That is just the way to open the chamber. When I got just three steps down, I had to pull back quick to avoid being impaled by a spear that looked to still be in good condition even after so many years have gone by. I don't know how far the stairs go down, or what kind of traps are in there.".
Tawana smirked and exclaimed, "Oh yeah! My kind of adventure and treasure hunting! The deadlier the traps, the deeper the mystery... the more worthwhile it is to explore and take!".
Sonic looked to her with a smirk and replied, "You got that right! But even so, best to not be too over confident. Otherwise... schk!". He made the sound while making a slicing motion on his neck, emphasizing that being careless could cost them their lives. While brave and confident, even Sonic was not reckless as he had been in plenty of situations where his overconfidence or lack of caution had almost gotten the better of him.
Caninestien handed over to the duo a rolled up map, which Sonic took before Tawana could do anything. The old anthro dog explained, "That map will get you to the pyramid. But be warned Sonic. Much has changed since those good old days, and the pyramid may not be how you remembered. Also, beware of the traps down below. I have a feeling that they are much different from the past traps you and Tails once had to avoid back then.".
The fastest thing alive smirked and replied, "I'll be careful Professor, and thank you again for all of this!".
The professor smiled and said, "Heh, no problem my boy. Like old times, right?". To him, he felt a little like his old self when he had Sonic and Tails ask him to make inventions that had foiled Robotnik in the past.
Now, Sonic and Tawana had to get some supplies before setting off for the Desert Zone... towards Ancient Mobigypt!
Sonic and Tawana soon arrive at the site where Professor Caninestien had given them. It was about just twilight, where day was now giving way to night. The duo had gotten some supplies that they would need for the trip, soon taking the rest of the trip on foot as Sonic knew about a Warp Zone that would take them to the Desert Zone.
He was very glad that said portal was still in its place and functioning, even after so much time had passed since he last used it & after all of the craziness that had occurred on the planet. Tawana was hesitant, due to having some bad experiences with any kinds of warping places in her previous life before arriving on Mobius.
But she was coaxed by Sonic, who assured her that everything would be okay.
He forgot to mention that the Warp Zone they went through had a little condition, which was to grab enough rings in order to reach one's destination. So the duo had to collect enough golden rings & avoid the black bombs that Eggman had left in there. Sonic was very much surprised to see that the ancient bombs were still functional even after so many years had passed.
After a dizzying and psychedelic trip, the two emerged at the starting point of the Desert Zone. Tawana landed on her hands and knees, panting as she was sweaty and tired from all the spinning and jumping about. She glared at Sonic, who was smiling from such nostalgia he had just gone through, and warned him to NEVER pull a stunt like that again.
He just smirked and took out the map that the old anthro dog professor gave him. Once he got his bearings, the blue hedgehog picked Tawana up bridal-style, causing her to yelp in surprise... and before she could say or do anything else, Sonic raced at top speed over the desert sand! Her cries of surprise echoed throughout the land as she was now traveling at some serious speed!
Sonic made sure to have a good, tight grip on Tawana. He secretly enjoyed feeling her curves and body close to his own. And her clinging to him like so also made a smile appear more on his face as they raced through the land.
They soon made it to their destination, the blue hedgehog setting the bandicoot down gently before turning to see the pyramid that was once part of Ancient Mobigypt. It truly had seen better days; much of the structure was blasted away, gaping holes on the side in various places.
He chuckled and commented, "Man... this place sure has changed since last time I was here. Then again, it was back when I went back in time to see it.".
Tawana looked at the place and added, "Looks like something tried to blast its way through it. One of your crazy doctor's machines or death bots did that?".
Sonic inspected one of the holes that was in the pyramid and answered, "Nope. It was nothing like that. No singed edges on the stones, and it looks to have fall inward. I would say it was due to time and weathering that some parts of the pyramid imploded on itself.".
Tawana was mildly impressed on Sonic's analytical abilities. She assumed that the hedgehog was like a jock, always going in headfirst into danger without really thinking on consequences or taking the time to really analyze something seriously. Apparently, she was proven wrong. That Sonic did have a brain in his head and utilized it like so.
He then took off his backpack, taking out the provisions he had bought and also a small tent. She looked at him in puzzlement and inquired, "Hey, what are you doing? Why are you setting up camp now? Let's just go in and take a look around.".
Sonic kept on unpacking his supplies but he answered her, "Nope. I learned that going into the unknown in the dark often leads to trouble. If we go in at night, even with flashlights, who knows what we could find. I know the professor said that some of the traps that were in there last time are either disabled or broken, but there could be some leftover that are still intact.".
He finished up as he finished putting up his tent & anchoring it, "Trust me on this. The Ancient Mobigyptians were experts when it came to making mazes, tricks and traps that were made to discourage treasure hunters like us. So we go in at first light, when we're fully ready and prepared.".
The hedgehog soon made a small campfire, lighting it up as the moon and stars came out fully to illuminate the quiet desert land. Tawana soon shivered as a cold wind blew through her, even though her leather jacket. Sonic saw this, smirked and stated, "Oh yeah, one another thing. While the desert is hot in the daytime, it gets cooler in the nighttime. Heh, much cooler than one expects.".
Tawana just sent him a glare before joining him around the campfire, the orange-red flames warming her and keeping at bay the cool desert wind.
While she was warming herself up, Sonic looked up at the sky which was now filled with innumerable stars with the crescent moon shining down on the land. He sighed, allowing his memories to take him back to the days when he was just a young teenage hedgehog. Where he and Tails had a lot of wacky adventures, and meeting up with friends along the way.
Friends that he had sadly forgotten as the years passed by.
Tawana looked to see Sonic gazing up at the heavens, the female bandicoot making herself comfortable and asking, "Hey... what are you thinking about?".
Sonic looked back at her, Tawana seeing the nostalgic gleam in his eyes. He answered softly, "I'm thinking of old friends I made over the years as a Freedom Fighter back in the day... and how many of them are either changed or gone.".
He continued on, "I haven't heard from many of them in years, and I wonder if they are even still around. Me and Tails, we made a lot of friends and such back than when Eggman went by his real name. Heh, and had three certain badniks that were very loyal to him... but very much stupid in a way that really made me laugh a lot every time me and Tails beat them!".
The blue hedgehog had a smile on his face, chuckling softly as memories long buried started to rise up to the surface. He started to remember the dumb-bots that was known as Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts. On how zany and crazy they were in their efforts to try and catch him and Tails.
He soon remembered all of the other ones that he missed; Miss Possum, Breezie Hedgehog, Roxy the Raccoon waitress, Catty Carlisle the cute cat country singer, Merna the lovely merhog, Princess Gwendolyn from his time-travel trip to recover the Chaos Emerald of Invincibility, Sonette the fangirl squirrel and more.
So many memories and adventures when he was young... and now he was wondering where most of them were at now, if they were even still alive after everything that had happened so far on the planet.
Tawana saw the sad look return to his eyes, the bandicoot seeing the light from said orbs dim down. She thought, 'Well, seems that blue boy here is most likely wondering where his old friends are. I got to say, can't blame him if it has been a long time since he last knew of them.'.
She decided to try and cheer him up and stated, "Hey Sonic, don't worry. I'm sure you're old friends are okay. Maybe you'll see them again after we get this job done.".
Sonic looked to her, a small smile on his face as he became hopeful. Hopeful to see the ones some of his old friends... if they were still around, that is. He replied, "Thanks Tawana, and that is something to do after this little jaunt. I really hope I can find them.".
The duo soon settled into a comfortable silence now, the smoke rising into the air as the night went on.
~Next morning~
The sun rose up into the sky, the air and land being warmed by its touch. It hit the campsite of Sonic and Tawana, the duo already up and preparing for their expedition into the pyramid. With their equipment and map in hand, the hedgehog and bandicoot had a light breakfast before they started to put everything away.
Once that everything was packed up and cleared, the two got a good look at the pyramid as it was now light enough for all to see. The duo looked to each other, smirks on their faces, as they nodded to one another and descended down into the ancient structure.
When they got to the entrance way of the construct, Sonic and Tawana had to use their combined strength to pull open the door. Once it was suitably opened enough for them to go in, both activated their flashlights and peered into the darkness. Sonic saw that the room was a mess, large slabs of stone from the ceiling having fallen down and littering the ground with debris.
He said softly with a tone of caution, "Careful of the floors. Last time I was here, it has some really nasty b*** traps.".
Tawana acknowledged Sonic, the two going further into the room. What the duo did not know was that the traps had been disabled. When the debris fell on the floor years ago, it jammed in certain levers and pressure pads good. It has disabled the activation mechanism, thus the floor was actually safe to go on.
But they did not know that, thus going a bit slower in their face just in case a trap did activate.
When they entered into another room, Sonic was surprised to see that there was an obsidian pathway down below them. He leapt down to the pathway, sliding a bit due to how smooth it was. Tawana looked up from her position and asked, "Hey Sonic! What is that stuff? And... why do you look so surprised?".
He looked up to her and answered, "This is obsidian, volcanic glass! There used to be a lava river way that went through this particular place, but it seems that something happened that made it cool quickly. That is how the obsidian is formed, when the lava cools quick enough.".
Tawana had a look of surprise on her face as she exclaimed, "Lava!? There was lava in this pyramid?! A volcano in the desert?!".
Sonic chuckled and replied, "No, no volcano I believe. Just perhaps the Mobiegyptians dug in too deep, and found a vein of lava underneath the ground. And most likely used it to discourage others from entering any further".
He took out a chisel, chipping off a good chunk of the volcanic glass. He examined the shard for a bit before pocketing it. Obsidian was a very sharp natural formation, and he believed that having something that can be useful like so would be beneficial in the future.
Sonic managed to Spin-Jump up back to the ledge where Tawana was, the female bandicoot impressed that the hedgehog had a handy capability. She remembered from back in her world a certain ex-beau that could only spin and jump, but not in the same way Sonic could. She shook her head, not wanting to remember the crazy yet also lazy Crash.
Once he was back on the stone pathway, he looked around and spotted a doorway on the far right on the other side of the room. He stated, "If memory serves me right, the passageway to Robotnikotph the First's tomb is that way. Come on!".
The duo walked on the stone pathway, leaping over the space gaps that were there, and soon arriving to the door. Sonic led the way, flashlight shining through the darkness. As they went past the corridor, they saw spike floor spring traps and fallen darts littered all over the floor, along with some debris. It would seem that indeed, the traps had been disabled in that corridor as well. The two made their way through the mess, soon arriving at the special entrance to the tomb.
Tawana flashed her light down into the tunnel, but not even the light reached down enough. She muttered, "Whoa... that is a long way down.".
Sonic smirked and replied, "It was made to be like this, because this was the final trap. Look.". He pointed to the doorway, and on the back of the door were hieroglyphics.
He translated them and explained, "Ma-Sonic told me about this particular trap. According to this, you need to grab enough Rings on the way down. And if you grabbed enough, the doorway to the tomb would open for you. And if you didn't get enough Rings... well, that is why they call the place down below a burial chamber.".
This had Tawana gulp, as something like this was based on both luck and skill. Grab enough of the goods to open the door... or not get them, and be sentenced to whatever death trap was down below.
Sonic put away his flashlight, looked downwards... then leapt into the abyss, yelling in excitement as he plummeted downward!
Tawana gasped in surprise at this and exclaimed, "Sonic! Sonic! Are you crazy!?".
He called out, "I'm fine Tawana! I'm getting enough Rings so that it will be safe for you to come down!". This surprised the bandicoot mildly, as Sonic was doing something dangerous to make sure that she was kept from harm. It really touched her.
After a few minutes had passed, Sonic called out from the darkness. "Tawana, I made it through! Come on down! I'll catch you!".
She put away her flashlight, doing a little prayer before swallowing her fear... and taking that big step off the precipice and into the darkness below! The wind rushed passed her, small tears forming in her eyes due to speed at which she was falling. She seemed to be fallen forever... until she felt some strong arms catch her!
She automatically latched onto the one that caught her, opening her eyes slowly to see the smiling face of Sonic! He had caught her, just as promised. And just in time as well. He smiled at her and asked, "Heh, enjoy the trip from above?".
Tawana blushed and got out of his arms, even though she was reluctant to do so. Her and Sonic brought their flashlights out again... and saw the room that once held the first Robotnik pharaoh!
Sonic and Tawana saw that the burial chamber was demolished. Huge slabs of stone, while few in total, had slammed down hard enough to crack the floors and walls. One pillar of rock had smashed into the sarcophagus of Robotnikotph the 1st. Sonic walked over to it, wanting to see if the old ancestor of Robotnik was in it. When he peered into the broken resting place, all he found was ancient bandages and a small pile of dust.
He looked about and saw no Chaos Emerald of Invisibility in it. He thought, 'Where is the Emerald? I thought the other me's would have gave it back to the old mummy. So... where is it?'.
Tawana looked about the ruined place with her flashlight, spotting some gemstones and golden artifacts that managed to survive whatever hit the place. She pocketed them in her knapsack, looking about the place still. She commented, "This place is a wreck. While some things survived this place, most of them is too beat up or destroyed.".
Sonic then remembered what the professor told them earlier and called out, "Tawana, we better look for those panels that Professor Caninestien told us about! Remember; it's a ring, a lamp and the final one a gemstone!".
The duo started to look around the place, but it was difficult due to the debris. After about five minutes of searching, Sonic managed to find on the northern wall a stone panel that looked like a lamp, one that was similar to the one he used to put back Erazor Djinn during one of his adventures in the storybook realm.
He called out with excitement, "I found the lamp! Tawana, anything?".
She was looking at the western wall, calling out, "Nothing yet! I... Hey! I did it! I found the Ring!". Indeed, she had found a stone panel that had a Ring insignia.
The blue hedgehog looked about the area, looking for the last piece of the puzzle. His eyes scanned over the broken sarcophagus... and found at the outside base of the stone bed was a panel that looked like a unique-shaped gemstone! He exclaimed, "I think I found it! Listen Tawana, the professor said that we needed to activate the secret passage by pressing the panels in sequence! I'll go first, then you push your panel & I'll push the last one! Okay?".
Tawana called out, "Okay! And ready, Sonic!". She was very much excited, wanting to see so much this secret passageway and what it had kept safeguarded for so many years.
Sonic prepared himself, then pushed the panel down! The stone block slid into the wall with ease, and a clicking sound was heard. He called out, "Tawana, now!". He then rushed to the base of the sarcophagus, Tawana calling out that she pushed hers in.
The blue blur arrived at the gemstone and pushed it down, the secret button pushing in easily into the stone. Sonic and Tawana waited... then something happened! A large rumbling too place, and in the center of the room, a large hope opened up! The stones seemed to vanish like they were not even there, forming a hole. And from the start of the hole near Tawana's position, the sides of the circular passageway jutted outwards until it formed a spiral staircase that led downwards.
Sonic went to Tawana, the duo looking at the secret passageway. He looked to her and stated, "You better let me carry you. If this place has traps still intact like Caninestein told us earlier, than it would be good if we both juiced out of here before they get us.". He had to stop himself for a moment, not remembering the last time he even said the word 'juiced' before.
It seemed that being in the nostalgic place was bringing back some of his old lingo, which surprised him a little.
The female bandicoot nodded, not wanting to miss an opportunity to be in Sonic's arms. Once she was secured, she nodded to him and said, "Let's do this!".
Sonic took a few tentative steps down... and just like the professor told them, a spear came out from the sides! It would have impaled his foot on the side if he did not quick reflexes, but thankfully he did. He hopped over the spear, and another came out the moment he touched the next step!
Avoiding the deadly pointed weapon, Sonic realized that all of the steps were most likely pressure switches. He acted fast, soon running down the steps at a suitable speed! All kinds of traps soon activated, almost all at once due to his speed. Spears shot out from the sides, arrows soon launched themselves from above... and even poisonous green gas erupted from the holes on the sides! Sonic and Tawana made sure to cover their mouths from the gas, just in case.
After about thirty seconds, they made it to down the floor where it was now safe. Sonic panted a bit, Tawana slowly getting out of his arms and feet hitting the floor. She looked up, very much surprised to see all of the pointed weapons embedded in the stone walls. She thought, 'It must have been some force to be able to shoot them enough to embed itself in solid stone! Those Mobigyptians were not playing around!'.
The duo soon looked up at where they were now, seeing now a chamber that was slightly smaller than the one that held the Pharaoh. But it was more impressive. The walls seemed to be out of bricks of silver, many kinds of gemstones embedded in them and scattered about everywhere. Hieroglyphics littered the place, Sonic trying to make sense of it all as they slowly walked in.
In the center of the room were seven pedestals made out of solid gold, each one having a unique object. They are arranged with four of small pillars in places to resemble a square shape, and the remaining three in the center of it. The four pedestals that formed the square shape had light-green large gemstones on them; one in the shape of a hexagon, another in the shape of a multi-faced crystal, the other in a four-shaped diamond spike and the other similar to a Chaos Emerald.
The pedestals in the middle of the formation had these; the left had a bronze Ring, with diamond studs arranged neatly and carefully on the sides. The pedestal on the right had a golden/bronze lamp that seemed very familiar to Sonic. And the one in the middle had a gemstone that looked like a spiny fruit of sort, purple with light pink stripes on it.
Tawana was in awe at what she was seeing. She whispered in complete amazement, "Sonic, this... this is amazing! Why do you think...?".
Her words died in her throat as she turned to see Sonic looking at the pedestals in complete amazement, his jaw open down wide as his right hand was pointing to the small pillars. She was a bit weirded out by his look of shock, and also concerned too. She reached out to him and asked, "Sonic...? Pal, what is...?".
He surprised her when he exclaimed, "The Chaos Emeralds?! They're here?! And the Phantom Ruby too?!".
Tawana was a bit freaked out by his exclamation, but she racked her brain and remembered their conversation from earlier. She inquired, "Chaos Emeralds? Aren't those the ones you talked about earlier?".
The blue hedgehog answered with his focus still on the items, "Yeah, they are! The one that is in a hexagon shape, that is the Chaos Emerald of Immortality! The one that has multiple sides on it, that is the Chaos Emerald of Invisibility! The one that looks like a four-sided pointed diamond is the Chaos Emerald of Life & the last one that looks like a regular emerald stone is the Chaos Emerald of Invincibility!".
He asked himself, "I don't get it... I handed the Emeralds to my other time selves so they could get back to their rightful owners! So... how did they end up down here?!".
Tawana thought for a moment and put out a theory, "Maybe your other selves thought it best to keep the Emeralds here instead?".
Sonic thought on that theory and replied, "Could be right. I mean... maybe Penelope and Ma-Sonic convinced them that it would be safer for them to be kept here. Perhaps... but let me see what the hieroglyphs mean.".
He made his way to one of the walls on the side, looking over the symbols and translating them in his head. Tawana watched him work, amazed to see him work with such passion and dedication. After some time, he managed to get a glimpse of the history the hieroglyphs were telling him.
The blue hedgehog spoke out, "It seems that my other selves arrived at this time, giving the Emerald of Immortality to the real Pharaoh who was freed after we trounced Dr. Robotnik and his badniks. At the convincing of Penelope and Ma-Sonic, the Pharaoh asked the other me's to let him safeguard the God Emeralds, as they called it. Heh... actually sounds better and more apt, in my opinion.".
He continued on, "In any case, a special vault was made to house the God Emeralds in, right underneath the chamber of Robotnikotph the First. Once it was finished, the God Emeralds were put in there. And along the way, three other great artifacts of power were discovered years later. They were put in there, and the room sealed up.".
Sonic said to himself, "It must have taken a lot of convincing for my time-selves to give the God Emeralds like up like that. Still... this is impressive.".
Tawana looked at the gemstone in the middle of the formation and asked, "Sonic, is that... Phantom Ruby, I think you called it. Is it different from the Chaos Emeralds?".
The blue blur walked back to her and answered, "No, it isn't. A Phantom Ruby is an interdimensional gemstone of extreme power, capable of just about anything. According to Tails, it can manipulate reality by creating things virtually. It's so good that one cannot tell the difference between reality and fantasy.".
This got Tawana's attention, as something that powerful was also extremely dangerous. She knew that many would pay through their noses and more to acquire it... but would the price be worth it in the end, especially if the gemstone fell into the wrong hands.
Sonic continued, "The Phantom Ruby I saw was dangerous when Eggman used it, but me and others managed to destroy it. So how is it that this Pharaoh was able to acquire one?".
The female bandicoot thought on it for a moment and answered, "Maybe it appeared out of thin air and he managed to stumble upon it. And if it was put in here, chances are that he knew how powerful and dangerous it was.".
The blue hero of Mobius replied, "You could be right. Still... to have the God Emeralds and the Phantom Ruby here... who is to say what could happen if all five were used together.". It frightened, yet intrigued them both on a scenario in which the potent interdimensional gemstone would be used in tandem with the God Emeralds.
Sonic walked past the pedestals, going to the lamp first and examining it. Tawana walked beside him and asked, "Say Sonic, you look like you have seen it somewhere before. Have you?".
He answered as he examined the lamp, "I do, actually. It sounds incredible, but one of the characters from the story "1001 Arabian Nights" named Shahra came into the real world to get me. She needed my help in defeating a powerful genie by the name of Erazor Djinn. I managed to do so, sealing him up in his lamp. Which coincidentally, looks exactly like this one.".
Once again, the visitor from another world was amazed to hear that Sonic actually was taken into the storybook world & in there the characters were real. She then asked, "Well... do you think this is a magic lamp? Like in the storybook?".
Sonic looked a bit pensive for a moment, then decided, "Well, let's find out.".
He plucked the lamp from its stand, than rubbed it lightly... and the lamp started to glow a brilliant golden color! From it shot fireworks that lit up the room, Sonic now desperately holding on to the shaking object! Tawana hid behind him, a bit freaked out by the intense action! More fireworks brightened up the room considerably, than smoke poured forth from the opening tip of the lamp!
The red and golden smoke swirled and took form, taking the shape of a form that was very familiar to Sonic! The smoke congealed, taking a more solid shape... and appearing in a flash of red and gold colors from the smoke was Shahra!
(Author's Notes: And… cut! That is it for the prologue! Hope you all liked it!
So this is the start of the special, and I can only hope it becomes better as the story goes along. Here are the names of the ladies that will be in Sonic's harem in the future- Amy Rose, Tikal the Echidna, Blaze the Cat, Rouge the Bat, Sally, Nicole, Shahra, Lupe the Wolf, Penelope Hedgehog, Perci the Bandicoot, Punk-Tawana and Original-Tawana Bandicoot, Zooey the Vixen, Princess Elise, Wave the Swallow, Krystal the Fox, Shantae the Genie & finally Gold the Tenrec.
These are the ladies that edowdle wanted to be in the story. And just so you know… I do not know much of some of the ladies here. I lost in touch with Sonic as the years went by, so I only know some of the core characters like Amy, Rouge, Sally and so on.
Also, I am using the characters that I saw from the TV animated show, not the comic series. Like stated in a previous Sonic story I made for Author Nicky Haugh, Sonic is not my cup of tea. My real passion is with my Monsters and Magic series, which is a crossover of Disney with Toho.
But doing this for my friend, so will do the best I am able to!
R&R, no flames, enjoy and leave LONG reviews!)
