Lily grinned as the train pulled up at Platform 9 ¾. As much as she loved and would miss Hogwarts, it was lovely to be home for a while. With the war imminent, Lily had asked Dumbledore that she would be allowed some time to visit her sister (who was getting married this summer) and her parents before she broke off contact with them to protect them while the war waged.
She was joining the Order of the Phoenix and this was going to be a huge change. But she would do anything to protect the Wizarding World.
That wasn't the only change though.
"Here, let me get our trunks for us." James Potter stood before she had the chance, pulling them down one at a time from the luggage rack.
He was probably the biggest change of all. Going from the person she could stand the least to someone vaguely tolerable to somehow being the man that she's fallen head over heels for.
No one was more surprised than she was about this.
"I am capable of getting my own trunk," Lily laughed. "No need to hurt yourself with my trunk and yours."
"It's not heavy," James shrugged. "I'm stronger than I look."
Lily laughed. "I would hope so. Otherwise you'd barely be able to carry two of our textbooks."
She scooted out the compartment laughing at the offended the noise that followed her.
