Chapter 5: All Hail King Hans!
Hans now had complete control over his brothers after years of torment they bestowed upon him. The magic dust the hobgoblin gave him allowed him to make them do whatever he commands them to do. And that included King Anders resigning from being king and passing it off to Hans. Nobody in the kingdom knew what was going on or why a big meeting in the castle courtyard was being held, but they still attended because it was said to be mandatory. The citizens of the Southern Isles were all cramming together in the courtyard waiting for some big announcement. In the castle, Hans was making himself look good for his big day where he would officially become king of his homeland. "Are you ready, sir? Your brothers are waiting for you.", Bertram asked. "Yes, I am, Bertram.", Hans answered. "Hans are you sure about this?", Bertram asked in a worried tone. "Of course I'm sure. I've never been more sure of anything in my life.", Hans said with a great amount of pride. "It's just I worry you might be taking this whole thing a bit too far.", Bertram said. "Hey, I deserve this. Much more than Anders or the other 11 do. After all the Hell I've been through because of them and my parents, I need this. The king thing didn't work in Arendelle, so it may as well be here. And the fact that because of that dust, Anders is just willingly handing me over the throne just makes this even sweeter.", Hans said. "Well, technically not willingly.", Bertram said. "You know what I mean. Anyway, it's now time to get what's rightfully mine.", Hans said as he left his room which he hasn't been allowed to set foot in for a year. King Anders stepped through the front doors of the castle with his 11 brothers following behind him who were all still in a zombie-like trance. "Everyone, can I have your attention please?", Anders called out to everyone. "Thank you all for coming on such short notice. I promise this little meeting won't take up too much of your time. As you know, I have been the king of our little kingdom ever since my parents died. And my brothers have been here as well. I would like to announce that I am abdicating my throne.", Anders said. Everyone in the courtyard seemed shocked to hear this as they all seemed to really respect Anders as their king. "I know this is shocking to you, but I promise you'll all be left in good hands. I would like to pass on my crown to my youngest brother, Hans.", Anders said as he stepped aside to make way for the new king. Hans then stepped into view for all of his subjects to see and a smug grin spread across his face. Normally, an audience would be applauding something like this, but there was none of that coming from this one. "But your Majesty, isn't he supposed to be locked up?", one citizen said. "He was, but not anymore. Hans' crimes have been forgiven and I thought I would make it up to him the best way I could by making him the new King of the Southern Isles.", Anders said. The audience still seemed puzzled and shocked by all this sudden and unexpected change. "I think you should all show your new king some respect by giving him a round of applause.", Anders demanded while still not being fully aware of what he was doing because of the magic dust. Everyone then began to clap as they were instructed even if they didn't really mean it. Hans knew they didn't mean it, but given time he knew they would have respect for him even if he would have to force them to. "Thank you all. I know all of this might be happening too quick. But my brother here trusts me in leading our little kingdom into a brighter tomorrow and I intend to do just that. I promise to be the best king that the Southern Isles has ever known.", Hans said as he raised his fist in the air victoriously. The citizens all gave another mediocre round of applause as they were all still not sure about this. "That' it. You may all go home now.", their new king told them. Once the courtyard was empty, Hans and all his brainwashed brothers went back into the castle. "Congratulations, brother. I know you'll lead the kingdom well. Better than I ever did.", Anders said. "Thank you, Anders. I know I will.", Hans said smugly. "I hope you don't mind being demoted to a prince again too much.", Hans mocked him. "Not at all. Is there anything else you need, Your Majesty?", Anders asked. Hans' sinister grin got even bigger as he knew what else he wanted besides getting even with his brothers. "Actually, yes. I want you to write a letter to some dear old friends of mine.", he said and what happens next will not be pleasant.
