Chapter 8
Peace Restored
A few weeks had went by since the doom lords were defeated. Since then, the Unikingdom returned to its bright and happy state. Throughout the past couple of weeks, Puppycorn finally completed his training and became a true knight.
It felt like a dream come true. Puppycorn was happy knowing that he would join Hawkodile in protecting his best friend. With a new day on the horizon, Puppycorn woke up from his bed, ready for his first day as a true knight. He walked through the halls of the new castle before meeting up with Richard, who was busy putting the finishing touches on Unikitty's new home.
"Hi, Richard! How is rebuilding the castle going so far?" Puppycorn asked.
"Exhausting. Still, I don't think we would have had a new castle if it hadn't been for you! As much as I didn't want to admit it, I think Hawkodile made the right choice in making you a knight!" Richard smiled.
"Thanks, Richard! Speaking of Hawkodile, I'd better go meet up with him so he can give me my first mission!"
At that moment, Puppycorn made his way out the castle. Here, he found Hawkodile, along with Unikitty and Dr. Fox. Once she noticed Puppycorn, Unikitty ran over towards him and gave him a hug.
"Hello, my brave knight!" Unikitty greeted. "How does it feel to become a true knight?"
"It feels kind of intimidating, but pretty cool at the same time!" Puppycorn admitted.
"Don't worry, champ! You'll get used to it!" Hawkodile assured. "It is now time for your first mission! The princess wants you to accompany her as she takes a walk through the kingdom!"
Puppycorn smiled at Unikitty before he turned to Hawkodile and said, "I won't let you down!"
"We know you would do great, Puppycorn!" Dr. Fox encouraged.
As Unikitty and Puppycorn got ready to leave, Hawkodile decided to speak with his adoptive brother one more time.
"Hey, you have grown so much since I took you in. I know that you would end up being one of the best knights ever! I'm proud of you, Puppycorn!"
Touched by Hawkodile's words, Puppycorn embraced him in a tight hug. "Thanks, Hawkodile!"
As he got his sword ready, Puppycorn escorted Unikitty through the kingdom. With a wave goodbye, Hawkodile watched Puppycorn leave, proud of the person Puppycorn grew up to become.
"Hey, Hawkodile. Do you think Puppycorn would ever get together with the princess?" Dr. Fox asked.
"It wouldn't surprise me!" Hawkodile replied. "I have a feeling that he would confess his love for her sooner than we think."
"You're right! It kind of makes me wonder who else would get together." Dr. Fox said with a blush, hoping to be with Hawkodile some day.
Little did Dr. Fox know that Hawkodile was thinking the exact same thing. A blush formed across Hawkodile's face as well as he hoped to someday be brave enough to confess his love for Dr. Fox.
Meanwhile, Unikitty and Puppycorn walked through the kingdom, both of them enjoying the sights together. With the kingdom no longer in danger, the two friends took the time to relax.
"Ah! It's such a beautiful day in the kingdom!" Unikitty smiled.
"It sure is! Things have been getting better since we defeated the doom lords!" Puppycorn agreed.
"We couldn't have done it without you. You have always been there for me, and I'm glad that I met you!" Unikitty paused for a moment. "Hey, do you think the doom lords would come back?"
That was a question that Puppycorn hadn't considered. He didn't let it bother him too much because if he and his friends can defeat the doom lords once, they can do it again.
"I don't think I would worry too much." Puppycorn assured before he raised his sword in the sky. "If the doom lords ever come back, I promise to protect you no matter what!"
Feeling reassured, Unikitty happily held Puppycorn's paw as the two of them continued their walk through the kingdom together. There is no doubt that she would encounter more dangers in her kingdom, but Unikitty felt safe, knowing that she had her knight to protect her.
The End
