"I just thought I'll meet Dad on my way... How is he doing?" I asked his wife, Renee, as I went to their house. Dad had twisted his ankle today morning.
"He's doing well," she said, "He's in his office."
"Okay, I'll meet him there. Thanks," I smiled and she nodded her head.
Renee and my relationship was always like this. She never liked me, and I have realized with time that maybe she wasn't wrong in her place.
My Dad had a brief affair with my Mom when Renee was pregnant with my twin step brothers. My mother died when I was four and my Dad had no option but to accept me. Renee wanted to leave him, but she loved him, so she stayed. But she could never fully accept me.
Things have changed a bit in the last few years, but one thing was always clear - They were a perfect family without me, and I was never going to be a part of their perfect, happy family.
"How are you doing, Dad?" I smiled.
"Oh, I'm good," he said, "Just twisted this stupid thing, and now I'm stuck at home for a few days."
"Well, I think you should enjoy some break," I said.
"I don't know, man," he said, "I hate this. Anyway, how is everything going with you? I'm sure it must be tough, but you're going to make it work. I've faith in you."
"I don't know..." I sighed, "I've a lot to learn, and... Nobody likes me there, so it's not going to be easy."
"I'm sure Edward and Rosalie will make sure you get all the help you need," he said.
Yeah, right!
"Rosalie is on a business trip right now, and Edward is, well..." I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, think of the devil..." he chuckled, "Look, he sent me this picture with a caption, "I really missed my partner today! Your son sucks at Tennis! We lost! Get well soon and come back soon!"
I shook my head.
He was so ridiculous!
He was making my life hell, and here he was... Taking a selfie and playing Tennis with my step brother, and sending messages to my Dad!
"He's such a nice guy," my Dad chuckled as he typed something.
"Yeah, right!" I shook my head.
