Still heading towards Fallarbor Town and May's next Pokemon Contest, Ash, May, Max, and Brock are standing outside the Pokemon Center on Lake May, waiting for a special someone…
"Pika!" Pikachu, Ash's loyal partner Pokemon, said as he stood on his trainer's head, pointing towards something.
"Huh?" Ash said as he gazed in the direction where he was pointing. He saw a girl his age running towards them. Upon seeing the figure, Ash smiled, "There she is!"
May and Max looked over to see who it was as the figure came closer and closer. "Hey!" Brock and Ash said as they waved their arms to greet her.
"Pi Pika Pi!" Pikachu said as he imitated his trainer as the girl stopped right in front of the quartet, revealing herself to be none other than Misty, the leader of the Cerulean City gym.
"Hey you guys!" Misty said with a smile.
Misty Chronicles OP1:
"I Ain't The Same, I'm the Power"
Lyrics by TheGlassyGuyArt
Vocals by Rachael Lillis (as Misty)
(Lyrics
Accompanying Visual)
I feel the change in the air, I'm feeling so alive
On a blue background, a silhouette of Misty's feet appears, and zooms up her body as the lyrics continue.
My heart is beating faster, higher than a kite
When it reaches her face, it zooms out and reveals her whole body.
I ain't the same, I'm something new, I'm something bold
Misty pulls out a Pokeball and throws it, a flash of light appears
I'm feeling the power, I'm never getting old!
The logo for "The Misty Chronicles" appears as it transitions to the first verse.
I ain't the same, I'm way much more,
Misty is shown running alongside a river, her Goldeen jumps out and wags her tail before falling back into the water.
My spirit's got the power to open every door!
Staryu jumps out of the water and spins before it too falls into the water.
"Giving up" was never in my dictionary,
Psyduck suddenly pops out of his Pokeball. Misty stops running as Psyduck falls into the water.
My power has been reborn, and so I have been!
Misty sighs as Togepi, who was in her arms, just chirps happily and claps
I'm on a mission to live my life right,
Misty is now facing off against another trainer, as Politoed cheers her on by clapping.
Spreading love and light with all of my might,
Misty sends out Corsola as it makes a pose.
Gotta rise up high don't be afraid to fall,
Horsea and Starmie are swimming behind a glass wall, giving happy expressions as if they are happy to see Misty again.
The courage within me is gonna carry all!
Gyarados swims straight up in front of the Pokemon as it cuts to Misty on the battlefield
OH YEAH, I AIN'T THE SAME BABY!
Misty sends out all of her Pokemon as the chorus starts up.
I ain't the same, I'm the power and younger!
Goldeen jumps up and uses a Horn Attack
I am the victory, feeling so much stronger!
Staryu and Starmie use Water Guns to form arcs as Misty makes a pose in between.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same,
Togepi shakes her arms back and forth like a metronome to the beat.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same!
Psyduck shakes his booty in front of the camera.
I ain't the same, I'm the motivation.
Horsea uses a Smokescreen attack to cover the whole screen.
I'm the heartbeat, born for inspiration!
Corsola clears the smoke by using a Spike Cannon attack.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same,
Politoed claps along to the beat.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same!
Gyarados pops out of the pool and unleashes an attack
I know in my heart I can do anything!
Misty and all of her Pokemon are seen together as the song ends.
On a cerulean blue background, the episode's title appears in white text as Misty Read it out loud:
ALL'S FAIR IN LUVDISC AND WAR PART ONE
"Toge pree!" Togepi chirped, just as excited to see her "big brother" and "uncles" again.
"Pika pika!" Pikahcu said as he jumped off of Ash's shoulder and ran towards Misty, obviously interested in talking with Togepi. Misty happily set the Spike Ball Pokemon down so the two of them could talk with one another for the first time in a long time.
"So, how have you been, Ash?" Misty asked Ash as the group started walking along the shore.
"I have been doing great," Ash said as he told Misty all about the adventures he and his friends had since leaving Mauville City behind. "After deciding to head to Fallarbor Town for May's next contest, we ended up in a watermelon patch where I had a double battle and taught one of my Pokemon a new move."
"And what Pokemon was that, Ash?" Misty asked the trainer from Pallet Town.
Ash smirked, "You will see," before continuing his story, "And then we met a trainer with a Bagon who wanted to fly, and Team Rocket gave it a taste of flight thanks to jetpacks before it evolved into its second stage, and last before it gains the flying-type."
"Did it involve trying to steal the Bagon?" Misty asked.
"It involved trying to steal the Bagon," Ash said with a sigh before telling Misty about their meeting with the Winstrates. "Right before arriving here at Lake May, we ended up in a desert area where we met a family that was very passionate about battling. May, Max, Brock, and I ended up having a series of four one-on-one battles with them. I let Max borrow my Corphish for the battle, and it might have given him his first heartbreak."
"Hey!" Max shouted at the trainer from Pallet Town.
"Don't worry Max," Misty said, "You will find the one eventually."
"Anyways," Ash said as he continued to explain what happened, "A few days before you came along, we ended up a couple with an Illumise and a Volbeat, a Pokemon known for love here in the Hoenn region…" He paused before telling Misty, "And Brock ended up doing what Brock does to me while I was dressed up like a girl trying to help the Volbeat trainer, Romeo, out."
"Really?" Misty asked as May smiled, trying to stop herself from laughing.
"Really!" May said as the two girls started to laugh, only stopping when Ash gave them a "stop it, or I will have Pikachu Thunderbolt you both" look.
"How is the gym leader life, Misty?" Brock asked Misty.
"So busy," Misty said, "My sisters were SO generous to give me all the work before letting me join them here. I just hope that they help me out once we go back to the gym."
"Our dad is a gym leader," May said, "And that always makes him busy. I bet I know how you feel."
"Yeah," Misty said as they saw a group of figures waving towards them.
"Hey there!" a voice said, which the Kantonians were very familiar with. The voice belonged to none other than Daisy, the eldest of Misty's siblings.
"Hello!" Brock said before he ran over to the elder Waterflowers in what seemed to be a millisecond and started to flirt with them immediately. "It has been a long time since I saw your beautiful face. How has your vacation been going? Have your shows brought people to the gym?"
Daisy, along with Lily and Violet, were completely speechless with what Brock was doing. They were familiar with how he was around pretty women, but it was still uncomfortable for them. Fortunately for the Sensational Sisters, Misty and the others caught up to Brock, who had his hand in Daisy's. Misty then yanked Brock away from her oldest sister by the ear. "I think that she isn't interested," Misty said.
Ash, May, and Max watched. "Just like the old times," Ash said, familiar with Brock's flirting and Misty's reaction to it throughout the Kanto and Johto regions. "Right Brock?"
"Woah," Max said, mildly interested in what Misty did to Brock, "Brutal stuff…"
May, on the other hand, was a bit more nervous about Misty. "But I do like her style…" she admitted as the scene unfolded with Misty throwing the Pewter City native a few feet backwards.
"Sorry about that," Misty said with a sigh.
"It's okay," Daisy said as the group got settled. "Anyways, we decided that this would be our last stop before heading back to Cerulean because there is this super cool Pokemon that I think would be a good Pokemon to have in the gym!"
"What kind of Pokemon?" Ash asked, as when the topic turns to Pokemon or Pokemon battling, he instantly becomes interested in the conversation.
"This Pokemon I heard about is a heart shaped Pokemon," Daisy said, "And I heard that it swims in the waters of this lake!"
"Heart shaped Pokemon?" Ash asked as he tried looking up the Pokemon in his Pokedex.
"I keep trying to tell her that no such Pokemon exists," Misty said with a sigh, "But whenever Daisy has her mind set on anything, it is set in stone…"
As the group talked with each other, they did not know that an old group of enemies were causing trouble on the lake… or, at least, looking forward to cause trouble…
"Dis sure is hard work," Meowth said as he, Jessie, and James were washing the deck of a wooden ship.
"It sure is," James agreed. Making the whole place clean was not what the lavender haired member of the trio had in mind when they signed up to help the person who owned this ship.
"Quiet," Jessie told her comrades. "Captain Hansen promised us a good cut of the reward once we find and capture those Luvdisc." Money was always a big issue with the TRio as they had a habit of buying mechs to help them capture Pikachu and/or whatever Pokemon caught their interest that day, only for a couple of twerps to blow it up each and every time. So even if they were not doing this mission for their boss, Giovanni, she knew it would be worth it for the three of them.
"Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet said. He had a habit of popping out of his Pokeball unprompted, especially when Jessie or another member of her gang made an agreeable statement.
Just then, the group of them heard footsteps and turned around and saw their leader, Captain Hansen. He was an older man, signaled by his silvery hair and facial hair, and was wearing a purple uniform. "How is the cleaning going along?" The captain asked Jessie, James and Meowth as they looked over their work, "I want this ship clean for when we get those Pokemon."
"Alright!" The TRio said to their boss while saluting him before getting back to work.
Captain Hansen looked over at the lake, "I will get those Luvdisc from this lake! All of them! Ninjask, help me out!" He said before he sent out a Bug/Flying-type Pokemon so it could scan the lake and look for Captain Hansen's target.
Back with Ash and friends, Misty and May were talking about the latter's aspirations of becoming a top coordinator.
"So May," Misty said, Togepi in her arms, "I heard you started competing in contests, and you did pretty good in your first one."
"I only made the top 8 of the contest," May admitted.
"Top 8 isn't all that bad," Misty said, "It just means that you are doing good, but still have a long way to go."
"I guess so," May said.
"These contests sound pretty interesting," Daisy said, "Why don't you show us your contest routine, May?"
May was a little nervous about doing it, but her friends were up for the idea, "It will give you some more practice for the Fallarbor Town Contest," Max pointed out.
"Yeah," Ash said, "And practicing will often lead you to doing better. Just remember our time on Dewford Island."
"Alright," May said before she got ready to show the sisters her contest routine. "Beautifly, take the stage!" She sent out her Bug/Flying-type Pokemon before tossing a frisbee into the air and telling Beautifly to hit it with a Silver Wind attack. Silvery crescents came out of Beautifly's wings as it hit the frisbee and sent it flying upwards and towards the lake. "Now hit it with a String Shot!" May told Beautifly. Beautifly shot a string of silk towards the flying frisbee, with the silk sticking to the disc. Beautifly then flew around flying the frisbee as if it were a kite before it landed on the lake.
"Pree!" Togepi chirped while trying her best to applaud May and Beautifly's performance. Of course, her little arms could not reach each other, but the attempt was still rather cute.
"That was, like, impressive!" Lily said after watching May's showing.
"I might want to give contests a try," Violet said with her blonde and pink-haired sisters nodding in agreement.
"But showing off Pokemon is only half of a contest," May reminded the Sensational Sisters. "You still have to battle if you want to win ribbons. She remembered how her first contest went, but she was starting to get better at battling after the fight with Victoria Winstrate..
"And we all know how you feel about battling…" Misty added, with her fellow Kantonians nodding.
Just then, they saw some bubbles under the frisbee, which got everyone's attention. What could possibly be under the disc? Beautifly brought the frisbee up and everyone saw a strange looking fish like Pokemon. "Luv," the Pokemon said upon being seen by the humans.
"Who's that Pokemon?" Ash asked before he pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon.
"Luvdisc, the Rendezvous Pokemon," his Pokedex said, "Luvdisc's heart-shaped bodies are a symbol of love and romance in the Hoenn region. It is said that any couple who meets this Pokemon will have a loving relationship that will never end."
"Neverending romance?" May asked as she listened to the Pokedex entry for Luvdisc. "That sounds like a very sweet Pokemon!"
"It looks like my sisters are right," Misty said to herself, "There actually IS a fishlike Pokemon shaped like a heart."
"Luvdisc," Luvdisc said as it brought the frisbee back to the land.
"Thanks, Luvdisc," May said as she picked up the disc from the water-type.
"Luv!" Luvdisc said when suddenly everyone heard a buzzing sound.
"What is that?" Ash asked as everyone looked around to find the source of the buzzing sound. They soon saw what was going on as they saw a strange winged Pokemon. It seemed to have its eyes on the Luvdisc.
"Let's check it out," May said as she pulled out her Pokedex to find out what Pokemon just appeared.
"Ninjask, the Ninja Pokemon," May's Pokedex said as it went on to explain more on the Pokemon, "This Pokemon moves at such a high speed, that sometimes it cannot be seen by the naked eye, even when its cries can clearly be heard. For this reason, it was long believed for this Bug-type Pokemon to be invisible…"
"B… B… Bug?" Misty asked as she clung onto Ash tightly.
"Ninn…" Ninjask said as it moved closer to the Luvdisc, the fish looked a little bit scared about what the Ninjask was about to do to it.
"Luv…" Luvdisc said as the Ninjask suddenly went up to the Water-type and slashed it, shocking the humans. "DISC!" Luvdisc whelped.
"Luvdisc!" Misty shouted, upset that a Pokemon that didn't want to cause harm got attacked by the Ninjask like that.
"Leave that Luvdisc alone!" Ash said as he got Misty off of him before pulling out a Pokeball, "Come on, Treecko! Let's teach this Pokemon a lesson!"
"Treecko!" Treecko cried out as the green gecko Pokemon came out of his Pokeball.
"Alright Treecko, use your Bullet Seed attack!" Ash told the Grass-type starter.
"Tree…" Treecko said as he leaned his head back before tilting it back forwards and spitting yellow seeds out of his mouth towards the Ninjask at a rapid velocity. He made a sound similar to a machine gun while spitting the seeds: "Ko-ko-ko-ko-ko-ko."
"Ninjask!" Ninjask said as it flew around dodging Treecko's attacks before flying off.
"Your grass-type finally knows a grass-type move?!" Misty asked Ash when the bug-type Pokemon was out of sight.
"Yeah," Ash said, "I said I taught one of my Pokemon a new move, didn't I? Speaking of which, does Psyduck know a Water-type move yet?"
"For your information, Ash, my Water-type knew a Water-type move since Stone Town!" Misty said, "He just hasn't MASTERED it."
"Then why didn't you take the time to actually help him master it?!" Ash asked.
"Uh, guys?" Brock said, looking at the Luvdisc, who seemed pretty messed up after the encounter with the Ninjask. "I think we need to take Luvdisc to the Pokemon Center…"
Everyone else looked at Luvdisc. "Oh my…" Misty said as she ran to the shore of the lake, reached out to grab Luvdisc, picked him up, and carried him to get some help…
Meanwhile, back on Captain Hansen's ship, Ninjask returned, holding something in its claws. It was a heart-shaped scale, and the captain looked at the scale in the sunlight for a while before nodding. "I see you have tracked down a Luvdisc?"
"Ninjask!" Ninjask said to its trainer.
"And I assume it all went well?" Captain Hansen asked the Bug/Flying-type Pokemon. "I don't want anyone to be interfering with my plans…"
"Nin…" Ninjask said as it tried to warn the captain that there were witnesses, and they didn't seem to be too keen on letting the Luvdisc suffer. However, due to the language barrier, Captain Hansen didn't seem to know what Ninjask was trying to warn him about.
However, someone else on the ship knew exactly what Ninjask said: Team Rocket's Meowth. "Ninjask said something about five girls and three boys seeing it attack Luvdisc," Meowth whispered to Jessie and James, "One of dem had his Treecko attack it with Bullet Seed…"
"His Treecko?" Jessie asked the Scratch Cat Pokemon, realizing who one of the boys Ninjask talked about might be.
James seemed to catch on as well, as he asked Meowth, "Do you think it might be the twerp?"
"Of coise it's da twoip!" Meowth said, "And if the twoip is dere, his friends must be dere too! We can snatch up their Pokemon in addition to da Luvdisc!"
Jessie and James smirked at Meowth's idea and nodded. "Alright!" they all shouted.
"GET BACK TO WORK!" Hansen shouted at them before staring back at the lake…
Meanwhile, Ash and his friends were at the Pokemon Center, waiting to hear how Luvdisc was doing after that sudden attack. All of them were on edge, but none more so than Misty…
"Come on, Luvdisc…" Misty said as she paced around the floor of the Pokemon Center, "Please be okay…"
"I am sure that Luvdisc will be okay, Misty," May said to the Cerulean Gym Leader.
"Traveling with Misty for two and a half years, I know how she feels about Water Pokemon," Ash said, "I know she won't rest until Luvdisc is healthy…"
"Toge…" Togepi said. She was in Uncle Ash's arms as Misty paced the Pokemon Center's floor, just as worried as her mama was.
"Pikachu…" Pikachu said as he rubbed the shell of his sister-figure.
Just then, Nurse Joy walked into the lobby. Misty made a mad dash for her and asked, "Luvdisc. Is he okay? Please tell me that Luvdisc is okay!"
"Luvdisc is going to make it," Nurse Joy said, "It is just that he took quite the hit from that Ninjask." She sighed before telling her, "This unfortunately isn't the first recorded instance of a Ninjask attacking one of the Luvdisc who live in this lake."
"What do you mean?" Misty asked the pink-haired nurse.
"There have been recordings of a Ninjask attacking the Luvdisc of the lake and taking chunks out of them…" Nurse Joy responded, "And they all seem to be the same Ninjask…"
Ash got angry when he heard that the same Pokemon was attacking so many innocents. He gave Togepi to Brock before getting up and asking, "Does the Ninjask have a trainer? If so, who would have their Pokemon do such a thing?!"
"The Ninjask has a trainer," Nurse Joy said, "His name is Captain Hansen…"
"Captain Hansen?" Ash, Misty, and their friends asked.
Nurse Joy nodded before she explained everything she knew about Captain Hansen. "He is a man who has been terrorizing Lake May for some time, attacking Luvdisc with his Ninjask and Shedinja for their Heart Scales."
"Shedinja?" Ash asked, "What kind of Pokmeon is that?"
"Let's find out," May said as she pulled out her Pokedex and looked up Shedinja.
"Shedinja, the Shed Pokemon," May's Pokedex said, "This peculiar Pokemon floats around but is completely stationary. In fact, it is only a hollow shell, said to steal the soul of anyone who looks inside of it. This Pokemon is also known to be very hard to take out because of its Wonder Guard ability."
Bug Pokemon always creeped Misty out, but after hearing Shedinja's Pokedex entry, she was really afraid, clinging onto Ash tightly. She only heard Shedinja's Pokedex entry and she was already not interested in meeting the Pokemon. "Uh, is it okay if we see Luvdisc, Nurse Joy?" Ash asked the nurse, hoping to get Misty off of him.
"Of course," Nurse Joy said as she led the two trainers to the back in order to see the Pokemon…
Ash and Misty were soon standing in front of a tank where Luvdisc was. "Are you okay?" Misty asked the Pokemon.
"Luv…" Luvdisc said as he nodded.
"That's good," Misty said as she sighed, "I am so sorry that this happened to you… I just wish there was a way for me to find this Captain Hansen and stop him from attacking your fellow Luvdisc…"
"Maybe there is a way…" Ash said as he decided to look up Luvdisc in the Pokedex for some more information.
"Luvdisc's nose can act like a compass, and can point to the one that it truly loves," Ash's Pokedex said.
Misty got an idea after hearing that information. She looked at Luvdisc and asked him, "Is there any Luvdisc in this lake that you love?"
"Luv…" Luvdisc said as he nodded.
"Well, I think you can help me lead me to the other Luvdisc before Captain Hansen finds them," Misty said, "So are you willing to help me stop him?
"Luv! Luvdisc!" Luvdisc said happily.
"That's great!" Misty said, "Let's go and help out your friends!" She looked at Nurse Joy as if to ask her if it was okay to bring Luvdisc back into the water.
"Of course," Nurse Joy said, "Just be careful out there."
"I will," Misty said as she took Luvdisc and headed out of the Pokemon Center. "I am heading out to help Luvdisc! I will try and be back as soon as I can!"
"Wait," Brock said, "Don't you need any help?"
"I am sure I can do it myself, Brock," Misty told the Pewter City native.
"Brock might have a point," Ash said, "At least have me come along to try and help you."
"No," Misty said, "It will be too dangerous for you to come along. I have to do this on my own. Keep an eye on Togepi, okay?" And before anyone else had the chance to argue, she was already out of the Pokemon Center.
And so, Misty's quest to save the Luvdisc of Lake May begins. It is going to be a hard task trying to save the Pokemon, from the evil Captain Hansen, but will she be able to do it? Stay tuned!
Meanwhile, back on Captain Hansen's ship, he was looking for any more signs of Luvdisc. Just then, he spotted something through his telescope: a Luvdisc was swimming through the lake, with a human riding a Corsola right behind it! "Who is she?" Captain Hansen asked himself.
Jessie, James, and Meowth looked over at what the captain saw, and they were surprised when they saw who it was. "Is that the redhead twerpette?" Jessie asked.
"Looks like it," Meowth said, "But what is she doing all da way here in Hoenn?"
"Beats me," James said, "But I don't think that Captain Hansen will like what she is trying to do…"
The trio went up to the captain, a bit nervous. "Uh sir?" Jessie asked.
"What is it?!" Captain Hansen yelled at them.
"The redhead twerpette with the Luvdisc…" James said, shaking, "she may cause trouble for our operation…"
"Yeah," Meowth said, "So it might be a good idea to stop her…"
Captain Hansen gave a glare to nobody in particular, infuriated that someone was trying to mess with him. "If you know this 'twerpette' so well, tell me a way to neutralize her…" he told the TRio.
Jessie, James, and Meowth told Captain Hansen everything they knew about Misty before he nodded. "Alright then." He then sent out his Ninjask, telling it, "Go and find the redhead."
"Jask!" Ninjask said as he flew off in order to find the enemy…
