Avenging Flash

Chapter Six: Hulk Arrives.

Crouching behind a makeshift Barricade of overturned taxis and stone pillars, Clint looked over at Steve and shook his head. "We've got civilians trapped inside a few buildings. It looks like the Chitauri are taking prisoners."

Cap grumbled under his breath one name. "Loki."

Clint nodded his head, the order could have only come from the mad demigod.

An explosion from further down the street caused Steve to turn and see a group of chitauri sleds fire upon unarmed civilians who were trying to hide in their damaged vehicles.

With a growl the man got up. "They're fish in a barrel down there." He said aloud, clenching his fingers around the shield strap harder. Natasha quickly pulled him back down as multiple bolts of energy struck where his head once was, causing Cap to turn pale for a moment. "thanks." He muttered.

Natasha nodded before jumping up and taking a small wave of chitauri soldiers out with carefully placed shots from her dual 9mms. She then ran and slid into a new area of cover. "We got this. You go take care of the hostages." She told Steve, ejecting the spent magazines before replacing them with fresh ones.

"You think you can hold them off?" The man replied, turning to look at Clint as he asked that question.

The archer smirked and fiddled around with the buttons on his quiver, causing the arrow carrier to turn and select his latest armament. A blast spread arrow. "Captain, it will be genuine pleasure." He told the man before jumping up from cover and letting the arrow fly from his bow.

It pierced the middle Chitauri's skull, and as the corpse fell, several fragments of metal exploded outwards from the arrowhead, injuring the alien soldier's comrades.

As the Chitauri were distracted, Steve ran, covered by Natasha who opened fire once again with her pistols.

The flash ran through the streets of new York, hand cutting through limbs, chests and even the weapons of various chitauri.

One well timed energy grenade however, sent the speedster flying onto his back, striking his head against debris. Causing his cowl to rip and a cut to appear on his forehead.

Chitauri commandos hopped out from their hiding spaces and rushed forwards, golden blades in their hands. They were aiming to kill the annoyance that had been decimating their forces.

Thinking this was the end, Barry closed his eyes, only to hear the sound of thunder. Opening them again, the teenager was amazed to see bolts of lightning coming down from the sky and hitting the chitauri were they stood, Flash cooking their organs and killing them.

"What's the story upstairs?" Barry asked as thor jumped down from a nearby building, landing but a few feet away from the young man.

Helping his companion up, Thor told him. "The power surrounding the cube is impenetrable."

"Sparkplug is right. We gotta deal with the goons first before we can even worry about the tesseract." Tony added, flying over them while being chased by the large Leviathan from earlier.

"How do we do this?" Natasha asked, walking over with Clint from behind an overturned bus they had even using as cover.

"As a team." Cap said over the comms, dropping a chitauri out of the window of a nearby building before jumping out himself and using the body of the alien to cushion his landing.

"I have unfinished business with my brother." Thor sneered, wiping some blood from off of his lip before scowling.

Clint snorted. "Yeah, get in line." He replied, sorting through some of his arrows while they were safe.

Steve glared at him. "Save it, Loki is going to keep this fight focused on us. Which is exactly what we need. Without him leading them these things, they will run wild, we got Stark and Supergirl up top, they are going to need us to-"

"Uhh sorry to interrupt Cap but Doctor banner is behind you." Barry pointed out, causing Steve to turn around and check.

Low and behold, Bruce banner was there, sitting on top of an old motorcycle dressed in some baggy clothes.

"So this all seems... horrible." Bruce stated, looking around the warzone with distaste. It reminded him of the damage he used to make as the Hulk a few years back.

"I've seen worse." Natasha replied with a shrug.

Bruce winced, feeling guilty for having lost control on the Helicarrier. Even if it wasn't entirely his fault. "Sorry." He apologised anyway.

"No its okay, we could use a little worse.." Natasha smiled.

"Stark we got banner, just like Barry said." Steve stated, talking directly into the comm.

"That's great, now tell him to suit up, I'm bringing the party to you." Tony replied, turning the corner that was directly in front of them so he could show what he meant.

For still chasing him, was the mega Leviathan.

"I don't see how that's a party..." Natasha muttered, eyes wide.

"Doctor banner, now might be a really good time to get angry." Steve said.

"That's the secret Captain, I'm always angry." Bruce replied with a small smile, turning to face the large creature as his veins popped out and turned green.

Within seconds his shirt was torn apart as his body hulked out into the muscled green goliath we all know and love.

With a single punch forwards, Hulk smashed the leviathans skull into millions of pieces while simultaneously causing the rest of the body to stop in its wake.

The Leviathan fell dead before him, its tongue lolling out with blood dripping down from inside of the mouth.

Tony floated up near the body and fired a missile through the hole in its skull, causing the rest of the corpse to explode into tiny little pieces. Every chitauri stopped and turned to see one of their great champions dead, and so they all took off their masks and yelled out in anger.

Hulk returned their outcry with a scornful roar.

Supergirl dropped down from the sky and stood beside him, putting her fists on her waist and putting a look of intimidation on her face.

The avengers stood around in a circle, protecting one another with weapons drawn. Glaring at their remaining foe with nothing but contempt and determination.

It was one big middle finger to the aliens, one large 'yeah, and what are you going to do about it?' gesture.

Loki watched from his seat above an armoured Chitauri sled, his eyes glaring down at the group of insects (and his brother) who dared stand in his way of glory and power!

Hitting a button on his chair, a holographic projection appeared before him of a muscled reptile. "What is your command?" He growled out. This was cull obsidian, one of the members of the legendary Black order.

"Send the rest, and its time to deploy the world engine." Loki ordered.

Dozens of leviathans came through the portal, splitting off to attack random places of the city. Following them were group after group of more Chitauri sleds.

"Guys..." Natasha muttered, getting the team's attention. Upon following her gaze, they saw the large wave of enemies come through and cursed under their breaths. It seems they still had more work to do.

"Call it captain." Iron Man told Steve, knowing how much experience the man had in bad odds. The hero was a war veteran and had a tactical mind, he was perfect to lead them.

"Alright listen up, until we can close that portal, priority is containment. Barton I want you on that roof, keeping an eye on everything, call out patterns and strays. Stark, you're on the perimeter, if anything gets more than three blocks out you turn it back or your turn it to Ash." Cap ordered.

"Can I get a lift?" Clint asked Tony, seeing the man was about to leave once he had gotten his orders.

"Sure thing legolas." Iron Man replied, picking up Barton before rocketing off into the sky.

Once they were gone, Cap continued. "Thor, you gotta try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down, You've got the lightning, light the chitauri up."

With a swing of his hammer and a loud battle cry, Thor took to the air.

"Flash, I want you on the streets. If anyone isn't inside then get them somewhere safe. You see any chitauri you take them out, Supergirl, stay above him and do the same. You see any chitauri sleds or leviathans trying to take out civilian areas, destroy them." Steve ordered.

In a flash of gold and blur of blue they were gone. Steve turned to Natasha. "You and me, we stay here on the ground. We Keep the fighting here." He then turned around and looked up at the last of his teammates. "And hulk... Smash."

Hulk gave Cap a massive grin before jumping to the nearest building, squishing two chitauri snipers between his hands before moving onto another area.

Alien screams filled the air.

After a solid minute of fighting, something new came through the tesseract portal. It seemed to be a Large three legged ship that was triple the size of Stark tower.

This vessel was very different compared to the technology and colours of the Chitauri and Leviathans. Compared to their gold and purple, the new ship was a solid silver with dark grey outlines. And instead of a purple hovering glow, the ship was held up by powerful blue thrusters.

From the top of the ship a projectile was launched, but strangely enough it didn't seem to head for the ground, but continued on its way through the sky. And after opening up its own portal, disappeared to who knows where, with the portal it had made closing behind it.

"What just happened!?" Stark asked, eyes wide after he watched that just happen.

{Somewhere off the coast of Western Australia}

A large rocket like vessel fell from the sky, with chunks of metal falling off of it as it did so. Before striking the water, the last piece fell off, leaving just a large ball like structure with three armoured legs.

This was the world engine. An old but powerful Kryptonian device. As soon as it had steadied itself, the bottom of the machine lit up, firing a blue pulse of energy into the ground, which then continued through the planets crust straight to new York.

{Back In NY}

The pulse travelled up from below Stark tower and dissipated just below the three pronged ship, which then fired a similar pulse back into the ground. Stark tower was protected, but the buildings around it were not.

"Fury, what the hell is going on. Jarvis is picking up severe gravitational fluctuations!" Iron Man asked, somehow managing to fly out of range of the pulse. Saving himself and the suit. Thankfully the first three blocks near his tower had been evacuated earlier, so he didn't need to worry about any casualties at that time.

"Stark, tell Flash to give Supergirl his earpiece. She's going to need it. We've managed to triangulate where that projectile has landed, she's the only one fast enough to get there and possibly destroy it." Nick fury replied, haven just connected to Iron Man's suit.

"Barry could get there." Tony argued, firing a repulsor blast through the chest of a nearby chitauri soldier.

"And run over oceans, through tropical storms while also dodging ships?" Nick deadpanned.

For a genius, Tony could be stupid sometimes. How could he forget the other dangers of sea travel? Flash could possibly find a way to get through those obstacles, but not today. "Fine I'll tell them." Stark Relented.

"You gave up that earpiece quite fast son." Steve noticed, punching a Chitauri commando in the chest, caving in its ribs and bursting its internal organs.

"Supes is currently the only one that can make it to Australia fast enough, plus she'll have the strength and firepower to stop the device. Whatever it is." Flash replied, dodging energy bolts before running over to the shooters and phasing his hand through their chests.

"Currently huh?" Natasha smirked, firing her pistols at some hiding aliens.

"Oh don't get me wrong, I'll definitely get faster. But right now I'm focused on keeping people safe. Once the world isn't about to end, then I'll work on my speed." Barry shrugged, vibrating his hand through a Chitauri's face before bolting off elsewhere to deal with others.

"He's self assured, but not cocky." Natasha stated, finding herself enjoying the refreshing attitude the teenager had.

"He's a good kid, I'll be glad to get to know him more after this." Steve acknowledged, agreeing with the woman.

"Assuming we survive." He added with a mutter.

Now before anyone moans or comments: the world engine wasn't destroyed near Australia! I know that. But realistically, if a gravity pulse was being fired through the earth up to New York, it would have to originate somewhere to the west of Australia. (Because that's the closest I can get to a full line through the earth from New York to somewhere inhabited)

Also this is the MCU mixed with some of the CW DC verse and DCU elements. On top of that, ITS MY STORY. I decide what happens in it.
