A/N: To clarify Summer's outfit; it's that of what she wore in Volume 9 during the flashbacks and her scar is like Weiss' only it's on the right instead of the left and slightly longer reaching down to just below the cheekbone.
Summer stirred hoping to find herself in Salem's castle. She mentally sighed in disappointment when she opened her left eye to see the dirt ceiling of the medical bunker. Glancing to her left, she saw D-4231 standing guard, his 'rifle' at his side. "I see you're awake." A voice said. Looking towards the door, summer saw that it was Adler. The apothecary gave her a smile as he lumbered into the room. "D-4231. Report to the Commissar that our guest is awake."
The soldier walked forward without a word. Summer reached for him. Something Adler noticed. "Also, return here with the commissar. Tell him doctor's orders." He added. The Krieg trooper glanced at the good doctor and nodded before departing.
"Now, then let's check on that scar shall we?" Adler asked. Summer glanced at the doorway. "He'll come back. The commissar will bring him." The apothecary said. "How do you know?" the silver-eyed huntress asked. Adler chuckled. "Nicholas never argues with me when I say 'Doctor's Orders' so D-4231 will return with him."
With the Commissar
"So, we've lost contact with our forward most lines." Nicholas said to a messenger. "Yes sir. The radio was shot up so they sent my squad and I. My squad didn't make it." A Krieg trooper said as D-4231 entered the room. "D-4231, if you are here then that means our guest is awake?" The commissar asked. "Yes sir." The trooper said. Nicholas nodded.
"join the wall both of you." He said. The messenger began to depart as D-4231 spoke up. "Actually commissar, I'm to return to Ms. Rose's side, sir." Nicholas looked up in surprise that a soldier would disobey him. "Doctor's orders sir." The trooper hastily added. 'Of course, Adler would play that card, but why?' Nicholas thought before speaking up. "Let's go then."
Summer remained still as Adler removed the gauze covering her right eye. "Well, I see no signs of an infection, so you should be able to leave the sector. However, due to the local area, I suggest you stay in the trenches." Adler frowned looking at summer.
"is something wrong Mr. Adler?" Summer asked. Adler chuckled. "Please call me James." The Apothecary said as Nicholas and D-4231 entered the room. "Anyways, I didn't want to ask yesterday due to you still recovering. Why are your eyes silver?"
Summer's eyes widened. "You've never heard of the silver-eyed warriors?" she asked. "I've never heard of these so-called Silver-eye warriors Ms. Rose. Nor are there any in imperium records." Nicholas said making Summer's eyes widen. "Brothers help me." she muttered. Unfortunately, she muttered loud enough for the three to hear.
"She's a heretic." Nicholas said preparing to draw his sword whilst D-4231 unslung his rifle. Adler raised an eyebrow. 'Brother gods?' he thought. The apothecary noticed Summer's scared demeanor. "Stand down both of you." Adler said.
"Nicholas, she clearly has no idea what you're talking about." The apothecary said as D-4231 slung his rifle and calmly approached Summer. "But.." the commissar attempted to argue. "But nothing, the only gods I know are the Holy Emperor and the Gods of Chaos. I've never heard of these Brother Gods. We should hear her out." Adler said looking at Summer before chuckling. "Seems D-4231 is willing to listen."
"Daniels." Summer said glaring at the apothecary. "Pardon?" Adler asked. "I'm giving him the name Daniels." The huntress said sternly. 'Daniels' looked at her. "Why give me a name? all I need is a designation." He said.
"It's just not right to live by a designation. No one's a number. None of you are." Summer said. Nicholas paused for a second. "I will allow it, but I wish to know about these so-called brother gods of your world. I fear you may not be in your own reality anymore. Plus, about these silver-eyed warriors." The commissar said.
"The brother gods are said to have created Remnant. One of the two, the God of Light created Mankind. Jealous of his brother's work, the God of Darkness created what we call the Grimm." Summer said. "Grimm?" Adler asked.
"Soulless creatures made of darkness. We've been at war with them for centuries perhaps even millennia." Summer failed to notice Nicholas tightening a fist whilst sharing a look with Adler. "However, Mankind wasn't the God of Light's only creation of sentient life." Summer said.
"Oh? Do tell." Adler asked. Despite his beliefs remaining loyal to the holy emperor, he couldn't help but find these 'brother gods' intriguing. "They're called the Faunus." Summer said. "Faunus?" Daniels asked. "think humans with animal traits." The huntress said.
"your planet has Xenos on it?!" Nicholas exclaimed in slight disgust. "Why haven't you exterminated them yet." Summer frowned and was about to ask what a Xeno was when Daniels answered. "A Xeno is what we call a non-human."
Summer nodded. "We actually coexist in relative peace though there are some humans that think they're above the Faunus." Summer said frowning. "and those people tick me off." Nicholas took a step back. Its not that he saw himself above Xenos. They just unnerved him.
"Moving on. How do you fight these Grimm?" Adler said seeing Summer give the commissar a death stare. "We have what we call Huntsmen and Huntresses. In fact, I'm a huntress myself." Nicholas raised an eyebrow. this woman was a warrior? "that would explain the scar." Adler said. "You were or had been in a battle prior to appearing here weren't you?" Summer nodded.
"So, about these huntsmen and huntresses." Nicholas began to ask. "Anyone can become one. Human or Faunus." Summer said sternly. "A Xeno would defend a human?" the commissar asked. "Yes. It's their job to do so. Even if he's rude." Summer said.
"I see. That'll be all for now. D-4231, get her in uniform. Wouldn't want her to be mistaken for a follower of Chaos nor a prime target for a heretic sniper. You'll also be her caretaker during her stay. Once we get communications back, I'll alert the imperium of your situation and hopefully have some tech priests working on a way to send you home. Your weapon is being stored in the armory, but you'll still be required to use a Lasrifle Ms. Rose." Nicholas said placing a hand on the crestfallen huntress.
"We will find a way home for you. I swear to the holy emperor we will." Summer smiled. "Can I at least take the mask off every once in a while for fresh air. Can't imagine wearing it twenty-four seven like Daniels. Speaking of which here." Summer tied a piece of red cloth around his arm. "So I know which soldier is you." She said at his questioning gaze
"Heh, I guess you can. Well then Ms. Rose, Huntress of Remnant, welcome to the 863rd Death Korps. Enjoy your stay." Summer chuckled. "A pleasure Commissar Reiner." She said
A/N: thus chapter 2 is done. I hope this helps the confusion made by the first story trailer. Expect Codex entries for D-4231/Daniels, Adler, and Nicholas shortly. As always read and review. That being said. peace
